Setcpu stats - Samsung Infuse 4G

Sorry if this belongs in general (wasnt sure) anyway, I finally set up a few profiles and id like to know what you guys think.
I profiled screen off, max is at 400 and min is at 100 and set for max priority. I woke up around 4am, noticed full charge, unplugged charger, went back to bed and woke back up for work at 5:20am for work and was still at 100% battery. I've been at work for over 3 hours now and I've listened to music on my phone for at least 1.5 hours and about 45 mins of data related activity, I'm now at 75% of battery. I think that's pretty good. Also, I was wonder if my phones struggling or being damaged being set so low with screen off and playing music at the same time.

old iphones only have a 400mhz cpu and they play music just fine and there wouldn't really be any potential for damage, maybe jittery playback or something.

Terrible battery life, please help!

Hello I am new to this forum, I just got the Samsung galaxy s 4g this Wednesday and I was wondering if anyone else was having battery issues. Right now I have my phone set to minimum brightness, auto sync off, black bckground and juice defender on. So I don't understand why am I getting only about 3 hours of battery life when all I'm doing most of the time is surfing the web(this forum) and facebook. I even get better battery life from my dads vibrant which is completely stock, has auto sync on, no juice defender, and screen brightness set to 50%. From reading the stats of both phones, the vibrant 4g is supposed to have a slightly better battery. I also don't understand why if the screen is at the minimum it still takes up 94% of the battery whereas on my dads vibrant 50% screen brightness takes up 30%. Is there anything I can do? Will wiping the battery stats help? If so how do I do that from a stock unrooted vibrant?

Check your notifications settings. I know that Samsung's contacts integration with social networks takes a big toll on the battery, hence why I've disabled it. Also, disable T-Mobile's Contact Backup Sync, just use Google's contacts integration.
Thanks for helping, but yeah I have those disabled already.

No, I charged mine this morning at 630AM, and I have been playing with it all day. It is currently 610PM, and I am at 60% still. Seems pretty good to me.

Does the trick to fully discharge and recharge 3 times work with these batteries? According the the Li-on technology this is not supposed to be necessary but I've heard stories in the forums of folks getting great battery life on other phones after doing this. Many people also say their batteries work a lot better after a week of use (supposedly after "training" them as well.)
I believe the G2 is clocked down for this reason. You could try CPU-set app, clocking down to 500-800mhz when not gaming.
Anyone tried these tricks?

Will ill try to cycle charge the vibrant and use it for a week, and ill try out cpu set. if this doesn't improve I'm definitely returning this phone. I had soo much expectation for this because I have seen people getting up to 24 hours. I can't even get halfway through the day barely using the phone.

Auto brightness on GPS on sync on 20 texts 30 min playing games 20 min on Facebook now on xda app for 15 min. And standby for 3 hours... currently at 80%. Also have hepatic feedback on the Mtm gingergread keyboard. If that matters.

Im having the same issue with battery life.. for me its a deal breaker.. I use my phone pretty heavily for keeping up with email and a little web browsing as well as talking quite a bit.. My iPhone 3Gs lasted me all day of heavy use and with the SGS4G I have to charge the damn thing at least once a day with light usage and if I have to be on the phone a lot then its twice a day.. Not acceptable at all...
Thats with wifi and gps disabled..
On the 3Gs I had wifi, bluetooth and the gps running all the damn time...
Took my phone off charge at 6:30 this morning haven't put it on charge yet at 88% never had this much juice with the nexus one.

I'm not having any issues with battery life or heating. I use wifi teather most of the day and I'm getting to use it all day without issue. I did cycle my battery 4 times already just in case it matters. FYI
The batteries that our phone uses DOES NOT require u to cycle the battery. In fact, doing so will harm your battery. To avoid damage to your battery always charge ur phone when u r at <15% battery level. Trust me I thought the same until I did the research. I will post more info when I get on my PC later.

I just bought a Galaxy S 4G on wednesday. First android device coming from iphone 3G. I'm still trying to figure out the best way to preserve the battery life.
I took it off the charger at 6:30am and the battery was at about 2% at 8:30pm.
I haven't rooted the phone yet to remove some of the bloatware that comes pre-installed.
I've got email accounts synching, brightness set at about 10% w/ a static wallpaper. Played about an hour of angrybirds throughout the day and didn't really do any web browsing with a few phones calls. I mean 14 hours is decent but from what I've read there are plenty of people getting a full day of use and still have 50% battery left.
I guess once the battery fully charges I'll put inception on, turn off syncing and try a few other things.
So I guess I said all that to say this, my battery life isn't great but it's not downright horrible either. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
And yes I'll continue browsing all the forums to see what else I can find.
Edit:
Played through half of Inception in airplane mode, brightness at minimum. I dropped from 93% to 80% in an hour and a half. Not too shabby.
Also created a shortcut to toggle between 4G modes and Edge. I know 4G is going to be a pretty big drain so I'll see how much that helps.
I'll keep tweaking it.
this is completely true and if you read the manual on page 13- h t t p:// downloadcenter . samsung . com/content/UM/201102/20110224044646930/T959_Galaxy_S_4G_English_User_Manual.pdf it says that
"• Do not wait until your battery is completely depleted before charging
your device. Repeating this process of a complete discharge and
recharge can over time reduce the storage capacity of any battery."
right now my phone is at 23% battery level with up time of 46:46:40 hrs/mins/secs. with skype calling (around 10 minutes), text messaging, browsing the net (for around 5 minutes about 6 times a day), and talking on the phone (around 15 minutes)
the settings i did:
1. took a picture with my finger blocking the camera to get pitch black picture and set that as my background and deleted all the shortcut icons (i short, i only have a blank screen with the only 4 icons down below)
2. changed the brightness settings to 2 clicks to the right from 0% brightness (or you can lower your brightness all the way down during the night, and 2 clicks away during the day, this will save you more)
3. disabled haptic feedbacks and audible touchtones, selections, and screen lock sounds
4. disabled animations
5. disabled background data and syncing when not in use
6. disabled packet data (3g), wifi, and gps when not in use
the last two are the biggest settings that made my battery last longer.
7. i only charge my phone when it gets to 20% and the manual recommends not to use the phone while charging
i hope this helps.
and yes it is recommended to charge your battery to 100% before you turn on your phone for the first time and this is also stated on the manual.
one more thing, don't forget to set your browser's brightness setting as well

Losing 20%/Hour While Constantly Playing With Phone Normal?

I'd like to hear other folks experience on this. My 1 week old sensation, after numerous experiments confirms this, loses 20% charge per hour when I am continuously using it to browse the internet on 4g. Light setting is set at auto and was at its dimmest level throughout this experiment. I did play about 7 minutes worth of video on youtube during this time. All radios other than 4g were off. Gathering from this, the phone would last for 5 hours straight using browsing and/or playing with it. Is that a good battery life or should I exchange my unit?
Mine just went down from 100% to 75% in 45 min (Full Brightness). :/

Killed my battery in 3.5 hrs today (browsing, Fruit Ninja, etc). 20% per hour is good. You can't expect much more at this point until custom kernels start rolling in.

I was browsing while watching a boring movie with someone for over an hour yesterday. The battery dropped by a little less than that amount. maybe around 15%. That isn't that bad.
I am using Opera Mobile as my main web browser.
I get about 10% for 45 minutes of non stop usage with multiple apps, though no multi tasking.
I get about 25% for 40 minutes of internet use.
Out of the box (when i got it) dead in about an hour of use. It was at roughly 40%.
It might have do with something, though my phone died when it said 1%, but i used BattStatt to see my percent, if that has an affect(affect, effect, you know what i mean).
yesterday night my battery was at 10% wen i went to sleep nd today morning i found my phone on 8% .
that means 2% for a night .. preety impressive ..
So this is normal? I read that you should be able to get at least a day of use out of your phone. After 4 days of charging then dischargeing I cannot get past 8 hours even with having data turned off. Should I return my phone and get a new one or should I hope that it gets better?

I got 20 hours (25% left) with heavy heavy usage and I hadn't fully charged it. Of course my screen isn't on blast and when I first get my HTC phones I let the batteries die all the way then charge it fully without bothering the phone. Seems to work in my favor.

Battery 100% charged?

So I read that a ton of ppl has issues hitting 100% battery charge, I'm also seem to be having the issue till I got and played Plants vs Zombies...after like 1 hour playing I was about to turn on the alarm and hit the bed and I just noticed my battery level, 100%....so I thought that it was an error and I locked the phone just to see on the lock screen "charged"....btw, when I started playing the battery was at around 92% and I've never seen 100% before on my NS.
How many ppl is able to get their phones to fully charge to 100%? and, does any of u installed or did anything in particular to fix the issue?
Hm, only had mine 2 weeks and have yet to get a 100. My epic would but it was a faux 100 if anything as it. Would drop down to around 98-96 immediately.

you can use that if u really want too get too 100% i used for a few weeks then just stopped caring. Its just the way samsung programmed it to pro long the overall life of the battery.
Yeah, mine caps at 95% normally. Might have a look at that program. How much shorter would battery life be if we let it charge to 100%?
If you leave the screen on (by any means, whether you were playing game, which requires you to have the screen on, or change the setting to have screen always on), it will charge to 100%.
will the battery life shorter with this trick or using that app to force to charging completely ?
Its not an issue. Samsung designed it that way. Its to help keep the battery healthy and extend its life.

I honestly don't see it being noticeably shorter life span. We keep phones for a max of 2 years now days. I rather have a full battery now then it last an extra few months. Battery's are cheap so we dont need them to last forever .
Well, I have used the phone while connected to the charger but never passed 96%, only after playing PvsZ I got the 100% and then the number went down till 96% and stayed that way after I closed the game.

[Q] Why IS Pandora Using Battery When It's Not On?

I've been playing the Drag Racing app in my spare time the last couple of days, so my battery has been draining faster than normal. So when I checked my battery usage, I noticed that the two top uses were the game and the display (obviously). However, I also noticed that Pandora has been using 8-10% of my battery each day. I haven't used Pandora in a couple of weeks. It's not showing up as an active program is the stock AT&T Task Killer.
So I cleared the App Memory and killed all tasks (I know, we're not supposed to do that ). And this morning, I noticed that after two hours of the phone being unplugged, I've already lost 2% of my battery to Pandora.
What gives, and how do I stop this program from using battery when I'm not using it?
Just 2% after 2 hour's? That's darn good. I lose like 10%. Didn't know 2% is a issue after 2 hours.

But by the end of the day, it's at 8-10%. And 2% is probably on the low side because I play the Drag Racing app for about an hour (half the time off the charger) while I was waiting at the airport. My battery was at 68% after 2 hours off the charger. Otherwise, the Pandora percentage would probably have been higher.
Games eat a lot of juice. And why don't you underclock ur phone I am running mine on the lowest 300 MHz 1.2 GHz setting and play a lot of even more graphic intensed games like shadow gun and stuff and I get like all day. When my battery hits 30% I have it set to 100 MHz 1 GHz tops. Screen of setting is 300 MHz. The skyrocket works fine underclocked.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
If you don't use pandora very often you can freeze it with titanium backup! Will hide the app from os and only takes a few seconds.
Where are you checking this at?
I just went to settings/about phone/battery and I don't see Pandora anywhere in there sucking up any juice at all.
I do have Pandora installed though.
U actually have to shut down pandora in the app itself not just back out of it. Menu button when pandora is used and then use the exit optional that pops up. I never see pandora using anything if I don't use it.

Batteries tend to do so, especially if you are constantly playing music or videos and even games without having them connected to a power source. The constant draining of a battery can do a number on them.
Oooooor if you are on the newest rage 3.6 rom, it eats battery like a mofo.
-he max voltage was 4.2 nows its 4.058
So 3.6 rage makes it last longer?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA
On R.a.g.e. 3.6, my battery last 4.5-5 hours under heavy usage. I use setcpu to edit max to 1.0ghz and min. to 612mhz on demand. It makes me get up to 8hrs. Max of heavy use.

mine lasts me all day :/ idk whats up with yall and 4 hour battery life? thats insane!! I've been at work and had my battery at like 80% and started streaming radio on it for about 4 hours and ended up having like 30% after that 4 hours... I'm on Reactive's ROM. I wouldn't be able to have a phone that lasts only 4 hours because i'm constantly on the move and have no time to charge it.
The only time i've had such short battery life is when my battery had fried and i needed a new one. But this was on my Nokia 5530. I've had the sidekick since it first came out btw and no issues. Try recalibrating the battery though... maybe that'll help

Ymmv, just installed back to basics, lasted all day with it heavy usage too. I mean youtube, music, twitter, texting and a few calls. I can definitely say it is not my battery.
I'm with eurohomie... I just installed RAGE3.6 yesterday. Battery was at 22% when flashed. After configuring everything, battery was down to 1% when I plugged it in. Then I charged it overnight. I did not clear battery stats or anything.
It has been unplugged for 14h41m18s now, and currently still has 71% left!!! I didn't use it that much today, but WiFi has been on the whole time, used about an hour talk-time, and used about 2 more hours reading internet news. It says WiFi used 30%, Display used 33%, Standby 18%, Voice Calls 10%, Idle 9%.
This is exceptional, however, with any ROM I always get about 20-hours of heavy use or 35-hours light use. Even with GPS navigating or playing 720p movies, it lasts over 4 hours strait.

I can't answer for him, but it is for me. In the first 30% of the battery dies really fast. The rest goes a bit slower.I'd drop from 100 to 80% battery from just watching a few videos online on netflix, under 45 minutes. After that my phone runs sluggish around 60% as if it was limiting how much cpu power it is using. I can compare the performance to my old g1 when its running at 60% battery. Constant use on that rom will only get me 8hrs total, 10hrs at the most on standby.
Just flashed back to basics to act as a control, battery drain is less than rage.

I can definately understand what you are saying. I can relate to that also. With my sidekick it is usally around 50-60% that I start getting the most force close errors, and freezing, and if im listening to music, and start browsing the web, I can most certainly know that if I go to a heavy website then it will freeze the UI and music will keep playing. But, if I pull out my beats cord, then give it a minute (sometimes I just have to hold down pwr) the launcher will reboot (like an iPhone respring), and will still be slow so I still end up having to reboot. I can most definately say that the Sidekick 4G is a BAD phone.

And for you other post battery temp is a major factor in this, I can honestly say if your battery is more than 100 degrees its gonna wayy faster, and if its more than 100 degrees a day... it's time for a new batt, slim. I KNOW that will fix this problem COMPLETLY.
