same problem here. i wrote to HTC, still waiting
I have written to htc couple of weeks ago and here is the reply:
"Regarding your question on HTC Locations Navigation, the license purchased is only valid for one phone and can not be transfered to another phone."
I guess they are trying to discourage people from upgrading their devices....

Yes. There are a few driver related things that make the dhd roms not compatible with out some adjustments. Otherwise they are identical.
Yeah, mine even called itself "Desire HD" when I synced it to the bluetooth in my truck.
Mine said Desire HD when I synced to my Ford Edge.
supposedly the inspire has more rom than the desire
market.android.com recognized the phone as an AT&T Desire HD.
The Inspire 4g has the same specs as the desire HD and the same phone body, which for me is a good thing been waiting along time for it to come to america. Was wondering the past few months why the fastest performing android device right out of the box wasnt released for the US Carriers yet. But finally its here, i would wait to see how well the axtrix does with the tegra2 processor but then again i have no faith in Motorola what so ever, and coming from a captivate i have even less faith in Samsung right now.
This was this case for my past HTC phones as well. It would show up as the original version of the phone (i.e. Touch Pro TyTn)

Speaking of Ford, is the Inspire compatible with the Text Messaging stuff in the Microsoft Sync system?
I'm considering getting an Inspire, but would like to have this working in my Ford. I just spent 3 weeks running WP7 on my HD2 and I was able to use the text feature of my Expedition's Sync system for the first time and kind of liked it.
Thanks,

Hello everybody!
I am thinking in the next few moths to ugrade from DS to the One X and a friend of mine made a very good question. And I quote "Since One X does not have an SD memory card how will you transfer to ONE X the navigators and other payed applications you have installed in DS?"
I know this may sound silly to some of you but I would really appreciate if you could enlighten me.
Do you think there is a possibility not to be able to do this?
The One X have no external SD-Card, thats correct. But it still have a Flash Memory. You can still save Data on phone, but you can't expand it, because you can't replace it like SD-Card. So, no problem
The paid apps are tied to your Google account. When you login to your new phone, they will be available in the play store
Swyped from a primed Desire S
What the 2 guys above me said is perfectly correct, and should answer your question. Check the Nexus S, it has no SD Card either, but can connect to a PC like our phones. If you can find a friend who has one (or a Galaxy Nexus), it should give you a pretty good idea what it is like.
alternatively u can use htc sync i think..
I would rather keep the derire s than a one x my mates got 1 putin the 2 phones to gether they just run the same on everyday use but i no the one x is a multicore device so it would beat the desire hands down on benchmark even tho benchmarks dont mean didley sguat lol or and on a final note im getin a 32gig mem card for my desire of ebay and ther only £11 to buy!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't trust those cards with your data. They usually lie about holding 32gb as well. Unless you're getting a well known one in which case ignore me

Hello Guys,
I have the same old Sensation XE problem of WiFi, Hotspot and Bluetooth which i took to HTC Customer Care only to get a reply "I tried downloading your update but our servers are down so the download gets terminated in between...please visit tomorrow".....same thing since more than a month. I have grown tired by that and i have stopped visiting.
Anyways, my question....do you think the XE will get a JellyBean update sooner (India) ? If yes then i would like to wait for it. But it not....i just downloaded recently uploaded stable CyanogenMod 9 and i am so tempted !!!
Thank You
:highfive:

Perhaps you should read it again?
HTC has announced it will be bringing Jelly Bean to at least three of its models

The Sensation may still get it.

At least three.
Remember how many phones were released after the Sensation:
Two One X
One S
Two One V
Desire V
Desire C
Droid Increditble 4G LTE
Evo 4G LTE
Rezound
Amaze
Vivid
There are more, but I forgot/don't care to remember.
I don't think they will because updating the sensation means they have to update Sense 3.6 AND Sense 4 to JB. I don't think they will want to go through the trouble
I don't need the crap stock....
Any way it will be ported as sense 4 did.....

The One X has Sense 4, so if Sense 4 needs updating to work on JB then they'll be doing that anyway, and we know the Sensation can run Sense 4 so it's not going to be that difficult for HTC to release a JB update for the Sensation.

I agree but in terms of support HTC would have to support multiple versions and will probably choose not to do that as it == $$$$ in costs. It's just cheaper for them not do so and get us mugs to just buy newer phones.
Or, go to something like CM10.
I think if the Sensation will get the 4.1 update, you will know about in a few months. Remember that the first 4.0 update was available for Sensation & XE.
I think XE will get Jelly Beans, but maybe not sense4. Sense4 includes burst and HDR camera functions needing the image chip which XE doesn't have.
Sense 3.7 with android4.1 is most possible I think.

Yeah, considering they took so much time rolling out update outside europe i am a bit skeptical about it. More that that Desire HD which i used, got its 2.3.5 update (from 2.3.3) got its update after 2 months of ICS release and i am hopeless about them releasing udates on time.
i see the desire hd saga all over again from htc ,im sure htc wont update sensation to jb ,but im curious what will be the excuse
Short HTC Support Cycles?
So what's the support cycles on HTC these days? Six months? Seems upgrade support is dropped after six months because HTC are falling in to the Nokia trap. Release a bewildering array of phones to 'meet every market niche', spread themselves thin and drop support for last seasons 'bewildering array of phones' after only six months.
Samsung seem to be offering longer support cycles now?
This is where Apple just keep beating Android hands down. Imagine the uproar if Apple dropped upgrade support on an iPhone 6 months after release. Their support is more like two years?
Not happy HTC. I fear you will go the way of Nokia!
I love Sense but with HTC's build quality brand damage last year and ever shortening support cycles, I'm struggling to understand why I shouldn't just go Samsung like everyone else.
How far HTC has fallen. They were once the de-facto Google partner. Now even Google won't touch them.

HTC Sensation ? Any thoughts on the popularity of this or similar HTCs ?
I'm thinking I should get a recent HTC phone with a Broadcom FM/combo chip.

When I get a new device for testing my app, I try to make sure it's popular and/or a good representative of a "class of similar devices" that likely run similar ROMs and have similar hardware.
I'm trying to figure out if I should get a Sensation, or if there is some similar HTC device that is even more popular or more representative. I have the two OneX's but those use TI and Qualcomm FM/BT/WiFi combo chips, and I want the more common and popular Broadcom, ideally the BCM4330 or later/similar chips.
Similar audio chips/systems would be good too.
A device that will get an official ICS update would be even better, but AFAICT we don't know about that yet. HTC really annoyed me with the Desire HD broken promise.
I see half-broken units good enough for my use on EBay in the $150 area...
Thoughts ? Thanks !

Hi,
I would say the Sensation is an extremely popular phone, with good current support from a variety of Developers.
Even as people move on to other phones, others are buying up the second hand phones.
So, you would not be short of customers here.
The other very popular phone here in Germany is the Sensation XL and the Sensation is not very popular here in Germany

Thanks. I try to estimate popularity by numbers of forum posts or views.
"Plain" Sensation seems pretty good, but Evo 3D seems even higher, especially for the Sprint CDMA version.
Always seems to be this issue of variants, CDMA/GSM and XE/XL etc. which can make for a whole different phone development wise.

Germany is my best market, per capita.
But unfortunately my "post count" check on the forums isn't anywhere near comparable.
Of course it came out later (right?) but I'm sure total numbers are still much higher.
And I prefer getting older phones that are cheaper on EBay.
Android "fragmentation" affects me greatly, due to the low level hardware specific requirements. So I have 15 different devices in my "test fleet" now. And I'm trying to be very picky when it comes to additions, as it's difficult to manage so many.
Guys,
HTC, the company that gave us the original xda series, the T-mo G1, Nexus One, Evo and other great phones is in dire financial straits.
They're on a downward spin for the last two quarters, and while they might not be in danger yet, analysts reckon that soon, they will.
HTC devices have always had the best build quality and better than normal specs, and as a company, I hold a lot of regard for them, based on my experiences with the HTC Touch, the Nexus One and the Sensation.
I hope this thread won't get locked/deleted by a mod. I don't know if there are rules prohibiting such threads as mine, but I'm just trying to grt my opinion out there.
This promotional video by HTC reminded me of all I love about them:
http://youtu.be/fWDHYqBSjQg
HTC continues to produce some of the best devices on the market, with the Droid DNA/HTC DLX being the latest of those.
I request any xda member/developer looking to buy a new device to consider buying HTC.

No. Until they put bigger batteries and/ or removable batteries on their phones (and get rid of Sense) , I'll always look away. Its time to move on.

Sensation is my last HTC device unless HTC improve their relations with developers, they have started encrypting RUU now which mean no ports, no developments for older phones unless this can be cracked. Also HTC update policy stinks...

Yeah, I heard about the encryption.
You'd think a company that's in dire straits would do all it could to improve relations with devs...
Like it did in it's heyday in 2011...
Though Droid DNA development seems to be off to a nice start...
They've already leaked a few exploits, and all the devs stuck on Verizon are migrating from the Incredible to the DNA...
Quite a few sponsored-ish feeling reviews etc on that board...
So maybe they are working to correct their ways... only time can tell.

Totally agree with you about the batteries bit...
And the Sense bit too... Sense makes no sense, but nobody matches HTC build quality, and we can always flash an alternative like CM, AOKP or PA to be Sense-free...
