Has anyone released an interesting launcher yet?
WP7 and W8 both made radical changes to the intitaly interface your presented with.
Frankly the current widgets + app icons that is used on honeycomb is a waste of space. 5 homescreens that can house 240 some odd slot? Thats that the app drawer is for.

I believe it's been around for quite a while, but I only recently discovered Zeam. It's another replacement launcher but it has a much smaller memory footprint than ADW or LauncherPro.

It seems to support most of the things I find useful in the other launchers with the exception of 5 rows in the app drawer, but other than that it seems to be really good. It works well with CM7 and live wallpapers.
It's not _quite_ as smooth as LP, but I like it as an alternative. The fullscreen mode and gestures are quite good and you can have more than 4 icons in the tray at the bottom.
Might be worth looking at for some folks.
Apparently the author is "taking a break" from development and his site appears to be offline at the moment, but as it stands it appears to be quite nice.
MIUI Style Launcher Localized And Compatible With All Devices.
If you’re anything like me, you can’t get enough of MIUI. It’s polished good looks and big bright icons are impossible to get out of your head (like that hot cashier at Walmart). Only problem is, the ROM is only available on a rooted devices. Since I have yet to take that plunge, I’ve resorted to other methods. Take this this beautifully styled MIUI homescreen replacement on XDA for instance. After finding this Chinese MIUI launcher in the Market called Tencent Desktop (from the developers of QQLauncher), XDA user Quinny899 set to localizing the app for all us westerners.
In what will no doubt be a make-or-break for most, just like the MIUI ROM, gone is the familiar Android app drawer you’ve come to know and love. But that’s exactly what gives this launcher a true MIUI experience. You’ll find all of the MIUI styled app icons, dock and folders and even a handy themeing engine. If you’re wondering how to get the transparent notification bar, well that’s for the more experienced rooted users.

Nice. Been wanting to try the ROM but my uptime has been rock solid so don't want to reboot.
This seems to be the updated version.

This launcher looks awesome! But the lack of an app drawer doesn't do it for me. Can't have pages and pages of apps, just doesn't feel right.
If they combine the look of this with the functionality of Go Launcher EX then we'll defo be onto the best launcher ever.
It is nice.
hi devs!
I'm not a developer, but I love android and i want to propose this.
I think that the iOS launchers are a bit laggy and "eat" too much memory.
Google, with ICS, had introduced a new launcher with a new app drawer and the possibility to drop an icon over another and create folders.
Really Simply: this app has a unique drawer that shows all the apps and it's possible to slide like iphone-style. There's also the possibility to drag an icon over another and create a circular folder.
It's a combination between Trebuchet and iOS launchers
It's possbile to realize? is only an idea...
This is a new launcher
No feedback yet?
I feel honored to begin:
First things first: I love miui- metro style (means simple, squared, cornered icons! *_*) So my first impression was: beautiful!
Also the indicators are nice, i never saw it like this before.
The icons could be more simple (the "phone" icon has stripes at the background, but thats for sure a theming task.... There are no themes yet i think, and default theme could support more icons
About preferences i have not much to say, as long as its nice you dont need more settings
what ypu could add anyways: launcher direction (horizontal/ vertical),
dock background, faster scrolling, thatvthe appdrawer always starts at beginning (needs less ram i think and less orientation^^)
Is it thought to use Miui themes? just an idea...
Perofmance is simply awsome and smooth, id like faster desktop scrolling but thats all...
More infos coming soon
Add3: now i managed with the themer, there are many themes, also for lockscreen (which takes only 6mb of ram, thats exactly the same as the normal lockscreen) unfortunately in every lockscreen theme has to be anything in chinese maybe im gonna how to change this....
Greets
Add:
Ram: ~15mb (just as much as sony home, go launcher uses ~34, even zeam needs ~20...
Device: Sony Xperia X10i
Add2: now i noticed an app called tapashot, seems like one can download themes, wallpapers, lockscreens and apps there, im not sure because themes/ apps and categories are in chinese, only settings menu is english....

Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
Like it so far.

Greetings,
I've had a Samsung Infuse for 9 years now, and I've been using the "Android Phone 7" look. For those who don't know/remember, this was a highly customized "theme" hand-made by using Desktop Visualizer and Launcher Pro. The screens were divided by "panels" (1x4, 1x3, 2x4, 2x2, 4x1, etc.) and we made our own buttons using Photoshop.
Here are some threads discussing the old method of doing this:

I'm being forced to finally upgrade phones, so I went with a Galaxy s9+. I've been browsing custom themes, and no one seems to be using this style anymore. The Desktop Visualizer app hasn't been updated in years, and I'm not even sure if this would work with a modern Launcher like Nova. I know all of my images/buttons would have to be re-made with a much higher resolution, but that's no problem.
Does anyone have their phone set up like this? If so, how did you achieve it?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
You can achieve this by using Lightning Launcher. You can make the launcher scroll vertically, add your own tiles in, and you can make the side app drawer too. I've done it before but I use a more simple concept these days. I'm really surprised this launcher isn't more popular in the Android community since it's the most customizable one I've found. Everyone recommends Nova, which is basic and boring. You could probably also do it using KLWP and a vertically scrolling launcher. Once you learn to use Lightning or KLWP you can make pretty much anything you can dream up.

Thanks for the response. The original "Android Phone 7" theme is horizontal scrolling. Why do you suggest vertical?
Ah, my mistake. I thought you wanted to replicate the Windows Phone 7 launcher exactly.
