[Q] Installing themes? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I know I sound completely stupid, but I'm sooo lost.
I just switch from iOS (iPhone 4) to the Infuse 4G.
To install themes and stuf on the Infuse, do you need to do that "root" thing?
I want this theme: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1122709
If the process is hard can someone link me to a video or just tell me or something?
Sorry I have nooo idea how. I've tried to search and everything.
Thanks in advance.

You don't necessarily need to root. You just need a customizable launcher such as "Go Launcher" and download themes for it. Just do some searches in the market for a launcher that can support themes and search for themes like "Go launcher themes" And to customize the launcher and you already have themes for it, just press the menu key on the homescreen and you'll see something that says "launcher settings", "preferences" or something of that nature that takes you to the launcher's settings and just dig around for the theme options.

I wanted to do the same also - so I did a bit of investigation. Actually turned out to be pretty easy. I use GIMP 2 program. After you follow the direction below save it as a .png file with any name. Save it to a folder on your phone. Then hold down app drawer icon on phone till popup box - select change icon. Navigate to the folder where you saved the transparent icon and click on it to select it. * it is transparent so you wont "see" the icon click on the screen and it will pick it * And that's it. Enjoy! - I know I did
GIMP 2 makes it easy to create a transparent image:
1. Pull down the File menu.
2. Pick "new."
3. Click the "+" sign next to "Advanced Options."
4. Select "Transparency" from the "Fill with:" menu.
5. Click "OK."

I believe he was asking for a transparent background when you OPEN the app drawer, like ADW, not a transparent icon FOR opening the app drawer.
I want side by side pages in the app drawer like ADW. Might have to switch soon if launcher pro doesnt step it up. I tried requesting stuff on their forums but it gets overlooked.
I love the launcher pro widgets so I'm not switching to ADW anytime soon, but I would love a transparent app drawer background.
+1 interest in transparent background for the app drawer...
+5 if it still maintains the 3d perspective while being transparent!

Holy crap man did you really say that??? You know Fede release updates pretty frequently to LauncherPro right? If the side-swiping app drawer feature is missing it's either because:
- Demand for it is low
- It's not important
- It's been overlooked
- Fede just doesn't want it in LauncherPro
But to say "if Launcher Pro doesn't step it up" is a little unfair at best. To each their own but LauncherPro is awesome.
I don't want to crap up this thread so I'm out
3d/transparent sounds awesome.
I would also dig the hell out of that.
someone get a response from a dev
Posted it on their forum.
where so we can follow it and show support!
sorry
I talk to the dev alot this is a no go it would causealot of instability any other colors
i think that if it can't be transparent black is the most professional and simple look.
any explanation as to why it would cause problems? i have seen some ROMS that have included a transparent app drawer, and i'm assuming they're not releasing roms with known problems like that?
yeah other launcher have it too,, adw, dell stage, modified touchwiz
i currently use modified touchwiz and this is definetly stable and bug free with transparant app drawer...
so it's a lil odd story..
Oh man, I REEEAAAALLY really really really want this.
Ive already bought the dang paid LP version so im pretty much loyal either way.... but I will admit the clear ADW drawer ALMOST won me over before i took the LP leap.
There's GOT to be a way to do it.. just havent found it yet.
+1
3d + transparent and then there's no contest.
Yep, count me in... I'd love that in LP.

3d app drawer with a custom wallpaper is an absolute must for me as I have a custom housing in which the pattern from the housing follows onto the wallpaper so when when apple drawer opens it loses the effect and I love launcher pro so quick!!!! PLEASE HELP

Android theme customization question...

I just want to know how to get example1 instead of examplecurrent (attached).
I am ultra new to this modding stuff and have no idea what to even call this bar. But I am wanting to the the transparent 5 icon thing w/ phone messages ect at the bottom instead of the little standout-ish 3 icon one... help plz =P
All you'll have to do is install LauncherPro from the market. It is a launcher replacement app and is extremely popular. You'll be able to choose what apps/icons to put in the dock(that's what the bar is called ) along with all sorts of other customizations. There are other launcher replacement apps like ADW, GO launcher, Zeam, etc. Each have their own advantages and you'll just have to see what works best for you and your phone.
Then what?!
Ok I have downloaded LauncherPro , I believe cm7 already came with ADW or w/e so how do I change over and try the new one out and mess with settings and all that?
When you go to the homescreen you should get a popup asking you which launcher to use. If not, there's an app called home switcher or something like that. The settings can be found by pressing the menu button then selecting preferences. To change which apps and icons are in the dock, just long press on the one you want to change and you'll get a popup menu.

[Q] Where is my "Phone" Button?

This is probably a seriously stupid question, I know.
I'm running:
Valhalla-Black-Edition-Stock/CyanogenMod-7.1 (ROM)
[email protected]#2 (Kernel)
ADW (Launcher)
2.3.7 (Firmware)
Sorry, but I'm not sure the proper names of what I'm trying to talk about.
Every few days or so, when I turn on my phone, or awake it when it's been sitting idle-- the entire row that has "Phone", "Contacts", "Apps", "Email" and "Gmail" is gone.
I try to tap the area on the screen-- (it's on the bottom, just above the Samsung logo on the front screen)-- but the only way I can get these icons back on my screen is to reboot my phone.
This is really a problem for me when I need to make an important call & the "Phone" button is missing.
So, what is the proper name of the section on the phone where these icons live?
Where did all of those icons go?
And, how can I make sure they stay put so they're there when I need them?
Thanks.
That is called your dock check in adw settings there should be an option to show or hide dock and some launchers you can have more than one dock and you can scroll left and right. Also everything in that dock can be found in your app drawer. You can also try a different launcher I would suggest go launcher it is very customizable.

Yes, it sounds like somehow you've scrolled or dragged the phone icon.
ADW is a very good launcher. I would stick with it, but perhaps take some time to learn how you can change things to meet your needs.
GO Launcher is, to a great extent, a copy of ADW. While I used GO in the past, their products have started having "push advertising" (an ad appears where you would expect notification of a missed call or the like) and they have some questionable privacy policies, if they even believe in them in China.
This section is named "Dock" ...
I think the icons disappears because the ADW launcher was reset.
You can set it so:
1.Go to Settings
2.Go to ADW Launcher
3.UI settings
4.main dock style..
Then you should see stars at the homescreen.now you can drag icons to the stars.(e.g.the phone dialer)
Then save settings in ADW launcher.(if the launcher should reset ...e.g. unclean shutdown)
Restore settings when you need them.
I hope I can help you)
(Sorry for my bad english)

Nick, your English is excellent, and your post is very helpful. Thanks for your contribution!
With adw you can swipe up and it will hide the dock. Maybe that is what has happened.

google keyboard themes

hi guys
i am using google keyboard and love it.
i want to customize and add some colors to it.
can you please guide me how to create / change the themes of google keyboard .
thanks
DEFAULT THEMES hack
If you use the stock Android keyboard, which is also available in the Play Store, you can change the look and feel of the keyboard. Google Keyboard has a few themes you can choose, but they're not available in the settings.
Here's a quick way to pick a different theme, assuming your device runs Android 4.0 or later:
1. you first need an application that lets you create shortcuts to app activities. Some apps that let you do that: Nova Launcher and Apex Launcher, probably the best Android launchers. The following instructions assume you've installed Nova Launcher or Apex Launcher, but you can also use simple apps like Activity Getter.
2. long press the homescreen and pick "shortcuts" and then "activities".
3. scroll to the Google Keyboard entry, expand the list of activities and pick "Android keyboard debug settings".
4. you'll create a shortcut for this activity. Tap the new shortcut and you should see this settings page:
5. tap "Keyboard theme" and pick one of the themes: Basic, Basic (High Contrast), Stone (normal), Stone (bold), Gingerbread. IceCreamSandwich is the default theme.
6. use the shortcut you've created to change the theme.

Question Change MIUI icon pack?

I was wondering if there's a way to change the icons of MIUI launcher. There are plenty of themes but I want to customize the icons on my own as I usually do with all my devices.
I usually just install Nova launcher and do everything, but since stupid MIUI breaks gesture navigation upon changing the home app I am searching for a way to change the icons of certain apps with my own Wich till now I do by making a custom apk and installing it.
Unfortunately MIui launcher does not seem to allow doing it that way.
I've tried with MIUI Theme manager apk from app store, but when I open it it's saying that I don't have any themes and I should check them in theme manager Wich is not true( I've downloaded some from themes app already)
Would appreciate any help if you guys know how I can do this.
