[Q] Messaging problem with Rooted HTC Hero CDMA? - General Questions and Answers

Not like it's the biggest issue in the world, but when I send a text with more than 1 page ( >160 characters), it doesn't want to send, and freezes up my phone until I get the text that says "Unable to send message" (which is annoying as hell because it sends me like 4 of them). I didn't have this problem until I rooted my phone (Sprint Hero CDMA) so I think it might be related. Does anyone know how to fix :/ thanks in advance!

Verizon HTC Touch Pro, Long Text Message Problem

Hi everyone, I'm new here, and to the HTC Touch Pro, and I tried searching for a solution to this problem but I couldn't find it.
I have Verizon as I said, and I used to have the LG Voyager phone. I just upgraded to the HTC Touch Pro, and have noticed an annoying problem with my text messages.
With the Voyager, when I'd text over 160 characters, as long as I was sending to another Verizon customer, it would send one long text message, it wouldn't break it up or anything. Also I could receive messages over 160 characters from anyone who could send them to me.
With the HTC Touch Pro, if I send over 160, it breaks it into multiple messages, which is annoying to the person I text. Also and more importantly, I can't receive messages over 160 characters. I get the text cut off at the 160 point, followed by a message saying something to the effect of the previous message was edited to remove extra features, or something similar to that.
Other than the change to my data plan necessary for a PDA/Smart phone, I made no other changes to the account when I switched phones.
Does anyone know how to resolve this?
I've looked around a lot and have found 1 or 2 peoplethat have the same problem but nobody has any answers. Anyone have any ideas?
The thing is, that this isn't a problem... it's a default feature which.. unfortunately, I doubt can be changed.
Of course, i might be wrong..
Well thanks for clearing it up anyway. I didnt realize the voyager was actually doing somethingout of the norm to allow those messages to send. Thanks for the reply.
I have the same problem, and its very annoying.
There has to be a way to fix it, maybe flashing a new radio eh?
I'm not sure cause im new to the whole smartphone thing, i just barely got this tp a couple weeks ago.
that is what the phone company allows it's not something that can be changed.

Can't receive Pic Messages on FUZE w/ T-mobile

I have a Fuze that's been unlocked to work for t-mobile. I've been getting help from you guys/gals on here (thanks a lot), but I need a few more tips.
1. I can't seem to RECEIVE picture messages from people (also, I think that I'm getting in my "inbox" any message that I sent outgoing??). Is there a setting I need to adjust, or is it a ROM issue? any other software that I can use to change/update my text messaging management?
2. I don't know if I have a regular or cooked ROM, and I don't know what version I have, do you know where to find this info out?
I'm not very technical, but I'm trying to learn.. please explain very plainly if you can...
Thanks.
I am on tmobile also with an unlocked fuze and get picture messages just fine. Can you explain more as to what is happening? do you get regular text messages? and is it only picture messages that you dont receive can you receive voice text messages?
[on a side note] I'm not sure what has been done to my phone since I bought it used. it looks as thought the att bloaware has been uninstalled, and I also have a Tab in setting that says "xbmod manilla fro xda dev, TouchFLO 3D 2.0 3737395.3" whether or not that might affect anything. [end side note]
I DO get text messages, and I've never been sent a voice text (I'll have to test this). the weird thing about my messages is that they show up on the main TF3d screen, however they don't seem to be anywhere in the folders
When I tried to test getting an MMS message with a pic added, I had my sister send me 2 messages. one with only text (just saying "hi") and another with only a photo added. They both show up on my main MESSAGES TF3d tab, and the MMS message says "Click to view MMS", however when I click on the message it takes me to menue with my conversations with my sister and there is NO SIGN of the MMS message, only the one that says "hi".
Thanks for the response.. I really want to figure this out.
BUMP
Somebody please help me fix this problem I have ROM At0mAng V5.4, and I just need to configure/setup my phone to work on t-mobile. If you know how to do this or have any idea please help

Android SMS problem

Hi I have a problem with my Magic and Desire, they have trouble receiving SMS's sent trough a SMS gateway.
The issue I got is that I only receive ether a small part of the SMS or none at all(To the naked eye).
I'm supposed to receive a SMS every day from the company I work for.
But they say I do receive the SMS and they get confirmation from my phone.
I'm receiving other SMS fine from family and friends.
I once received half the message but after I tried to open it I was sent back to the overview(The SMS auto closed).
Another time I received the SMS and I opened it, and I was able to read half of what should had been there but after I closed the SMS it was gone.
My Desire running stock 2.1 and my Magic running 1.5, 1.6 or 2.1 are all acting the same way.
So I'm thinking theres a problem with the way android is handling SMS.
Maybe it(Android) considers the SMS for corrupted or malicious.
Is there anyone that is experiencing anything like this or know a way to fix it?
I have a similar problem on my G1 with different ROMs, for instance Cyanogen and COS-DS. Some SMS reach me, some just get dropped silently :-(
Same to me

[Q] SMS Scrambling?

Hi everyone,
I need some help and I'm just hoping someone on here experienced this before and found a fix. When sending long SMS messages the recipient sometimes receives the message jumbled/garbled/mixed up with another old text that has been sent to them weeks or months ago. So it usually has the first half of the message I send them as the correct text, and then the second half is "pasted in randomly" from an old message.
Hope that makes sense. I have T-Mobile service and I'm using a t999 variant of the galaxy s3 rooted and running a stock ROM.
It still happens even after deleting all my messages. It happens on both the stock messaging app and gosms, so it's not an app specific issue. It also happened before I rooted my phone and after. This same thing even happened on my previous phone, the HTC G2. Also, sometimes the old messages were sent on a previous handset (the G2) & with a previous SIM (same number but got a new microSIM with the S3), so no idea where it had got the old message text from.
Any ideas why this might be happening and what I could do to fix it? My current fix is using gosms and having it split up the messages every 160 characters so it doesn't have the chance to happen. Otherwise if I'm not using gosms I have to stop on my own and start a new text when I run out of characters. It works but gets very annoying.
Thanks for reading.

[Q] Galaxy Relay (T699) MMS Problems on Orange UK

Hello,
I have recently purchased a T699 from the states as I like having a qwerty keyboard.
I have rooted the stock rom & removed some of the T mobile bloatware & samsung crap (I am on Orange in the UK)
One problem is I can receive MMS picture messages, but not send them.
I receive a "server response error", followed by "MMS not supported by network"
Orange have advised it is due to the sending frequency failing slightly outside of their parameters, apparently you can receive mms with a tolerance of +/- 5 but only send with a tolerance of +/- 2, i assume Mhz ?
They checked the APN settings which were all fine (which made sense as I can receive them, although they display as a slide show, but still display) , but were perplexed by the error messages when sending, hence the above somewhat random explanation above.
They then advised I go to xda developers for an answer !
Any advice / solutions, all would be welcome & appreciated
Edit: Weirdly I just asked the wife to send me a mms and I could send that back. I still cannot send a new one though !!
