SPB Mobile Shell 3D - Bad Lag Over Time - Samsung Infuse 4G

I have the Samsung Infuse and I love SPB Shell 3D. However, I am having some serious lag time when I am going between screens...the carousel works fine but often, when just swiping left or right on the main screens, it will be very slow to respond...also, when I go into the main menu of programs, it will freeze for several seconds and then let me scroll. If I stop, it freezes again for a few seconds before I can scroll again. And also, if I go into a folder I created with programs in them on one of my screens, it will also freeze up for a few seconds before finally displaying them...once an App is up, it works flawlessly. It seems to be a lag problem with the shell itself.
If I kill SPB Shell 3D in the task manager and let it reload, all is fine for a while...I am tempted to go back to TouchWiz to just help narrow down the issues but I love this Shell too much!
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Brian

Well you could overclock sometimes i experiance just a little bit of lag. But i would assume it lags because it uses alot of ram. What other programs are you running at the same time? Abd what rom and kernel are you running? And yes i am currently running spb shell on bionix infinity 2 community voodoo kernel

After overclocking i uninstalled. Phone would freeze all the time now runs perfect. I Like spb but makes my phone lag maybe uses too much ram?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App

Well, it would often just over around 5.5 megs of ram in use...I have LauncherPro running now and it is using 13Megs, so RAM isn't the issue...my wife has the same shell with NO LAG.
We both have stock Infuse ROM...on mine, I have maybe 2 widgets, standard background (not live) but I do use ALL panels...
Launcher Pro that runs now has NO lag whatsoever...but I'd rather be on SPB Shell 3D...

launcher pro is always very fast. spb shell not so much. i never experienced it but many prople believe that the rfs file system creates errors over time and will slow the phone over time, a voodoo kernel flash may solve it if that is the problem. also ram will never be an issue on this phone it has plenty. but spb shell may be very cpu intensive if things aren't cached in ram like on other launchers (the purpose of ram is to make things faster, the only concern about ram use is that there is only so much to go around and it may get cleared to run other applications occasionally) to fix it if there is a problem with cpu usage you want to change the cpu governor to on demand. try the infusion kernel, no overclock is really needed and use the voltage control app to change the governor. between that and the other tweeks and lagfix you might find it feels like a different phone all together., a kernel flash through odin takes 3 second and will root the phone. it is the easiest and best mod you can do period!

Excellent insight...funny, I can live without SPB Shell if I can find a replacement calendar widget...I can live without the "jazz" if I can find a good calendar replacement...one that showed at least your two upcoming appointments...saw a few in the market that MAY work but they were paid apps...

"Simple Calendar" widget shows more than one appointment.

Try Colorize Widgets. Works on adw launcher or go launcher. Also go launcher has a free Calendar widget and many more.

[Q] Resolving battery drain ...

Hi all,
Well, it's confirmed : Gallery is the guilty for battery drain ...
I'm in JPF version and I don't know if it was the case for previous version.
In an other post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901867&page=5) I was suspecting this app (when I first used JPF version, Froyo said that Gallery consumed about 50%), so I realized a test to be shure:
- Full charge
- Turn on phone and kill gallery process with Advanced Task Killer (this process is only visible with this kind of tool)
- Then, each time I launched an app I verified if Gallery was running too. If yes, I killed it again. Stange thing is that I wasn't able to identify the rules that make it run : sometimes Gallery is launched with app "xxx", sometimes not ! Anyway it's launched at startup.
- Doing this, I'm now with 70% battery after 36 hours !
But, it's a litlle bit boring to have to monitor Gallery each time we use an App...
So, I'm thinking in doing something like this "mv /system/app/Gallery3D.apk /system/app/Gallery3D.BAK" and I will use Astro to visualize pictures.
Anyone knows if it's risky to remove Gallery3D.apk from the system ? I hesitate ...
Thanks !
The problem is known from the SGS. Just install the modded 3d gallery which SGS Tools brings.

Youd did this and you have a good battery life ?
D'ont know if it's very good to use a tool for SGS on a SG3. I'd like to simply remove this app ... But, this would affect others app ? may be ... perhaps not ...
thanks

The G3 is in similiar with the SGS in many parts. The modded gallery was made because of the battery drain bug... so yes it saves battery! You don't have to use it of course when you say "it's not good" to use a SGS App across-the-board (even if you don't know why ).
ok ok ... )
But, I decided to remove Gallery3D from /system/app (and others app too like Layar, Voice dialer, Youtube, Daily info, SamsungApps) and ... it works !
Only thing is that I can't put a picture of mine as a wallpaper. Last Wallpaper I used stays (black). By the way, I heard about a black wallpaper is better for battery.
I will give a feedback of this stuff in 2 days.

No, Gallery runs sometimes even if you use Astro to visualize pic.
But, now I removed Gallery3D ... it's not running more ! obviously
i think it will resolve the problem of battery drain. I don't care about visualizing 3d thumbs of my pic, neither wallpaper, neither live wallpaper. I prefer a good battery autonomy instead of some cute stuff ...
I'm going to use mu phone for 2 days like this (without Gallery3D.apk) and see if everything ok (phone functions and battery drain).

I also facing battery problem using Gallery and all other useless applications for me.
But thanks to Gsam101 , he made a great clean version of JPF. And it is very smooth and I am now not facing any battery problem.
You also can use JustPictures!, it's far better than Gallery provided by Samsung.

So ... After 50 hours without Gallery3D.apk, Froyo says that my battery is at 50% ! I confess I didn't phone a lot ... but it's incomparable with the original battery life.
I haven't noticed any trouble in using my phone during this time.
Also, each time I use an App and exit it (GPS Test or GPS Status for example) I take care to kill the process with ATK. Perhaps this can explain an even better battery life, but Gallery is the main responsible.
Conclusion : If you prefer battery life than wallpapers and cute stuff :
su
mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/st16 /system
cd /system/app
mv Gallery3D.apk Gallery3D.back
mv Gallery3D.odex Gallery3Dodex.back
reboot
and enjoy your SG3 for more time !
Just use Astro or other App to view your pics.
Note : Doing this your last wallpaper will stay and you will not be able to put a personal wallpaper.
Note2: You can try to use the modded Gallery provided by SGS ToolBox but I didn't test it. That's enough for me !

Which apk should be installed? SGS Tool from market? (some menu points not working). How can I change my gallery to modded?
thanks
The app Sgs tools was removed from market. You can find it here on xda forum. The last version is on page 37 (i guess). Download, install, go stock apps option and modded galery. Installed here without problems. Good luck!

can i use the camera hack in the sgs tools for the galaxy 3??
ive completely deleted the GALLERY app from the system thru titanium and use QUICKPIC which is way better and fast in loadin + can use preferred pics for wallpapers and yeah the battery is noticeably better than earlier or in any roms. get about one to one and half day with moderate-extensive use, sync and data is always on and occasional usage of GPS too!!!
My galaxy 3 came with an eclair rom, flashed to froyo JPF. I had a huge battery drain issue on eclair rom but it seems to be fine once I have flashed to froyo, only strange issue is that once the phone is completely charged it drops from 100 to 90% in a matter of 5-6 minutes.......

This is normal, and designed. While charging, the phone isn't constantly kept at 100%(like it used to be), the actual percentage varies (charging stops a bit, then when the battery hits a certain level it starts again). This is due to the fact that keeping the battery at 100% for longer periods of times shortens the battery life.
If you sometimes want it to really be 100%, or you just dont mind the shortened battery life google battery bumping (or something like) for more information.
@clarrkov, the phone doesn't work like that (stock). It doesn't at all register 99% it just skips from 100% to 90% (or 90% to 80%) via triggers depending on the battery voltage. I might be mistaken, but I highly doubt it.

The following was taken in order of stock clock to 1300mhz. On Otb Reloaded 1.6. Govenor set to performance to keep cpu from scaling down and scheduler was the defualt. Benchmarks I am not going to argue over so don't bother waisting your time. Performance may also vary as I find either otb or voltage control to be weird at times. Also these are not peaks.
What was removed:
Bloat uscc apps, Some samsung useless memory hog apps, Touchwiz launcer, Stock dialer, Stock mms, Probably some other stuff that is minor,
What was addded:
Phoenix reloaded boot animation from my desire phoenix, 100 percent charge and discharge battery icons/mods, Go launcher, Go plug-ins, Go Contacts, Go Sms, Themed menus, Themed icons, Reboot options, Puzzle lock, Themed market. Blue themed gingerbread keyboard Miui Themed music player, Superuser, Esfile Explorer, Voltage control app, Updated apps that are on the market, Updated host so adds are blocked (No need to use any type of blocker), added malware fix and possibly forgetting something else.
Tweaks done not found in any other rom for the mes:
Entire rom was optimized. This means that rendering images will be quicker in the included apps, possibly gained battery life, and a smaller foot print to boot.
Apps that receive updates or stock apps people may not like that is still in the rom. Are moved to data on boot. This means no duplicates in system or data when the app would get a update. Also means some stock apps can be removed from manage applications.
Entire rom was zip aligned when built.
Added zipalign on boot to the data partition. Why only the data partition? Only it should need done since the rom was. Google zipalign to see what it really does.
Added memory tweaks.
Added ram tweaks so the rom wasn't so laggy. It also will allow multi-tasking a bit better. You will see the quickness once installed. Also by the above screen shots. This should help with battery life also. I play to much to document the truth or not so someone will have to see. There is also some other features I may be missing out on.
Install Instuctions:
Download the following file and place it on you sd-card:http://2fastroms.com/dm_eds/download.php?id=20
Will be under install instructions.
FIRST DISABLE LAG FIX and be on ee19.
Wipe/format data followed by format system. (Even though the updater-script does this. I still get issues not doing it. Then install zip > Phoenix-Reloaded-1.1.zip
Wait for install to finish and reboot. Reboot may take a min or two so don't freak out. Once booted proceed to the setup instructions.
Setup Instuctions:
First you need to setup go sms to work right since the stock was removed. Go to it and open it. Read the little messages if you want. Then hit menu when at the message screen. Go to settings>important tips>stock sms releated. Check mark stock sms uninstalled. Go back to settings and mms settings. Set maximum mms size to 1m (Max uscc allows).
Go back to settings and Send Settings. Check mark split large messages.
Go back to the home screen. Hit the contacts icons setting it to use default go contacts. Also dial *228 for good measure. I believe this is it.
Questions:
Help I am roaming or get poor service. Try to move from the spot you are if signal is low and perform a prl update using *228. If it doesn't work try a few times with better signal till the roaming indicator goes off. If it doesn't I am not to sure what to say.
Help my data keeps going dormant. Trying to access the web you get a prompt about your connection. Only way I found to fix it was to odin 2.1 checking repartition. Then update to ec-10 to ee-19. You might get away with doing ec-10. I have yet to find the real cause to it but this isn't the only rom affected.
Support:
Official support will be at my forum at the following link: http://www.2fastroms.com So if you have a problem and I don't answer on here right away please make a post on the forum. Where one of my staff will relay the message to me.
Credits:
Ante for the base on the market.
Fab for the gingerbread keyboard port.

The guys that designed the g4 icons.
Phidelt82 for the one jar file to enable puzzle lock.
Opps forgot a credit that I didn't mean to. Which was the creator of some of the blue icons and a few other pieces from the steel blue theme. I know Phidelta82 I believe did the port but unsure of the real maker at the moment. In which if someone kindly said who or they contacted me. I will add the said person.
Also for future reference before pulling something out of my rom to put in another one. At least ask first. Don't take it the wrong way as I don't mind to help or share anything. The other thing is it may not work or cause other issues depending on what is nabbed.
First!. Had to say it
Keep up the good work

Nice Work
Hey i flashed it and it works well only thing i see is when i switched to OTB ver 1.3 the bootanimation has the android flashing in and out while the orig us cellular animation is still running. not a big deal thou.
also the media scanning icon in the status bar is sometimes themed and somtimes not. again not a big deal.
otherwise very nice work
Edit: i flashed this in CwM2.5 then put 3.0 back on so didnt think to ask if this was amend or edify script?
Awesome, its great to see more devs for the mesmerize. Welcome
My thoughts exactly. Looks like quality work too. May through this on and try it out next day or two when I get some time. Thanks to you and all the devs for making this phone rock.
Tap-a-Talked.
I flashed this last night, also running the tw1.3 kernel, could use a custom boot animation to fix the dueling boot animation, also the launcher still seems a little laggy but everything works and looks nice, would the ec10 no clock work with this? I may just give it a whirl and check later today seems like quality work. It worked fine flashing over pnp v.5 with just a cache and dalvik wipe.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
The launcher isn't laggy if lagfix is enabled. Then go to adw settings > zoom effect > set it to around 400. Then screen pref's > desktop scrolling > set to around 225.
If you still get lag then it isn't a problem with the rom but the kernel my phone runs better on the stock kernel with no lag fix. With any of the kernels I get constant force closes and reboots. Along with lag out the rear. Not talking crap about the kernels but a few reasons why it happens is the scheduler sucks and so does the default govenor. Like right now I am running otb also where my phone hates it. On the stock voltage settings. I can even lower nearly every clock by 100mv's and my phone will run fine but still the same problems as not touching the voltages.
I recommend to ditch sio then use cfq or bfq as my phone seems to like those a little better. The other is conservative plain sucks for performance. It might be better for battery life but that is a debate for another day. On demand doesn't seem to be much better really. I plan to compile a kernel and see what I can do with it.
As for the boot animation I have a boot animation made. Just can't get it to work on the mes but work fine on the desire. Still have to look at that. The ec-10 no clock I am guessing removes the clock on the taskbar? If so it should be fine. I haven't looked at it as I prefer the clock where it is .
Can someone do me a favor and go to my forum website using the web browser? Does the web browser reboot when the pop up for tapatalk comes up or is it just me? All other web sites work fine that I tried but none have tapatalk I tried.
Edit: This also doesn't you a updater-script but your old plain update-script. So clockworkmod 2.5 is needed. Forgot to put that in the first post I converted it to updater where it installs but won't boot so I have to look at it when I get time.
Tried the no clock mod and it works fine, also tried the browser and I had no reboot of it at your site, though previously when I loaded the rom the wallpaper wasn't there when I loaded the no clock mod it was. Did some fooling around in voltage control 1300oc/25uv seems to have fixed the lag issue. Also changed scheduler to cfq.

Odd it does for me As I said my phone hates the kernels we have... The wallpaper should have loaded though as it does for me. As I put it as the default in the framework. I will have to look at it though.
whats quadrant scores on this ROM at stock speeds??? trying to figure out whether this is just a different, nice looking ROM or if its a lil faster....btw...nice work...great to see a new dev on the scene!!!
Where did you find the MiuiMusic?
My phone has none of those other problems. Still running the sio scheduler with no lag and to cc or reboots. Ran quadrent and got 1650. Music player works great too.

Quad scores I can tell you in a few... As for the miui I honestly couldn't tell you as I had it for a bit. I just changed some of the colors. I think I got it on here out of a tab part of the forum.
I was actually looking to see if anyone had tried to port the file manager. Found a few ports of the music app. None worked on the girls desire. So kept trying to find on that would work right.
Edit: Just ran quad 6 times. Using I believe the kernel gas has in his rom as I haven't changed it since I flashed his rom to check out the lockscreens. My phone hates this kernel but with setcpu to set the governor to performance on the stock clock. Using cfq I pulled on the first run a 1510 then peaked at a 1598. I wouldn't expect what I did to show much in a bench but will affect image rendering when loading the apps I have installed.

You guys suck then as I am not that lucky, Guess it is time for me to due something to mine to get a new one since plastic polish and the mes screen doesn't work to well... It creates what looks like cracks if you blow on the phone or from the grease on your fingers. Pretty annoying...
Uscc has a Zach screen and phone protector so far its the best I've seen. It costs 30 bucks but is worth it to me. Its military grade originally made for field gps and radios bonds permanently to phone also includes a lifetime warrenty. Salesman said couldn't cut with knife didn't believe him but gf kid proved him right. One associated swooping later was very impressed also have very sore hand lol

It has a screen protector now. This was the week I got it and somehow got two big scratches before I even started really using it I don't even remember the brand I got but is the rubbery type feeling one with the lifetime warranty.
Yep I've had the zagg invisible shield protectors for many phones. I was thrilled when uscc started stocking them. I'm rough on phones (just ask my wife) and these things are indestructible.

Awesome, thank you for the info. I accidently came across the first one I had and I was like HELL YAH. lol so i have not really looked at anything else. The launcher they are working on with the fascinate built on top of touchwiz so everything works. Their latest test build boot loops for me.
Got a link? I don't pay much attention to the fascinate/mess crowd more so do I on the desire.
Any way we can get this for the showcase

Issue With LauncherPro...

After trying several different launchers, LauncherPro was my favourite one which was near perfect.
It looks great, runs fast and is excellent on battery...
I have just one issue which is really bothering me and this launcher is the only one giving me this problem.
It's hard to explain the problem but it's an issue with the screen wallpaper. When setting a wallpaper, whether it be stock or your own, it will then appear to be zoomed in like crazy and appear blocky/blurry...
The only way to put the screen wallpaper back to normal is by switching your home screen to another then switching back.
However, when doing this the home screen wallpaper will eventually return to it's strange looking state.
Even when disabling screen scrolling or using wallpaper wizardrii the home screen wallpaper will still return the way it was before, zoomed in like crazy and will scroll even though it's been disabled.
This is a definate bug in the launcher but it seems I'm the only one getting this.
Anyone have any suggestions other than to change my launcher?
As stated before I really love this launcher and would like to resolve this problem.
Thanks.
I just found out how to take screenshots of my Note homescreen and will now show you a before and after pic, the second pic obviously looking strange...

Now for the BAD looking home wallpaper:
try using a 3rd party gallery to set up ur walls. i used Quickpic (free from the market and a great galley browser too) to set up my wall using lp as launcher with no issues. Maybe that could help.

I will give this a try & let you know what happens...
Strange thing is my wallpaper looks perfect when it's set. It's only after a few hours it will suddenly change and appear ugly.

Hello
I do not have any problem between Launcher Pro and the wallpapers on my GS Note...
Are u using the free version of this launcher or the paid one (Launcher Pro PLUS 0.8.6 ?
The issue persists & it ONLY happens with some third party launchers but not the stock launcher.
The problem never occured with ADW Launcher EX or GO Launcher EX but happens with BOTH SPD Shell 3D & Launcher Pro.
Even when changing the screen from portrait to landscape the image zooms and scrolls then appears blocky.
Any suggestions as to why the screen wallpaper keeps doing this with these two bwowsers?
It's a shame as SPD Shell 3D & Launcher Pro are the ONLY launchers that run quickly and smoothly.
Both ADW Launcher & Go Launcher run slower and lag.
Why is launcher pro so bad on the note?????
Ive had LauncherPro for over one year on my Galaxy Tab. I was hoping it would work like butter on my new Galaxy Note, but no!!!!! Its never smooth and always jerky no matter every conceivable setting I try.. specially the app drawer.. its like a slow-motion lag lag lag movie!! Shocking I've tried different ROMs and there are no services in the background.. I cant comprehend.. the Galaxy Note has a dual CPU running at 1.4GHz versus the Galaxy Tab with a single core at 1Ghz (both running Gingerbread), yet, performance of LauncherPro on the Note is horrible.. its basically unusable.. anyone else has similar issues and is there a fix? This is so strange.. And Launcher Pro has been abandoned so developer doesn't even bother to reply to nay questions anymore.. I actually PAID for this software shortly after which development stopped... last time I ever buy any software for Android..
I am in the same boat. I paid money for LP, ADW Launcher and SPB. I tried 3 different roms: KKA stock, KL3 rooted and now Rocket Rom v.11. With EVERY custom launcher i have the same issue: when opening and closing the app drawer everything gets choppy and jerky. I really cannot understand why... Any hints or tips?
P.S.
I already tried to set transitions to fast in spare parts + but it did not helped.

Though hard to believe, there must be something SPECIFICALLY in the way graphics are handled and the way the graphics drivers resolve & perform specifically with the resources of the drawer open/close animation.. I cant comprehend as this is not a hardware or Gingerbread issue, this seems to be pinpointed an isolated matter with the Galaxy Note.. only Samsung and/or developers of the launchers can find a precise solution for this.. the OS is similar to hundreds of other hardware and the Galaxy Note's CPU & GPU processing is at the very top of most so, there is not a bottleneck there.. really strange but frustrating..
Yup, extremely frustrating, if someone has doubts, I will try to record on video the phenomenon to be able to prove and/or offer some starting point in solving the issue...

hmm what type of magic that this app do 2solve the problem? Too many negative reviews to try it.. I use QuickPic to set wallapers & hardly think that can be core of the performance problems..
pS - And I never ever use LiveWallpapers because I know those R killers..
I use the most popular one. Just search for "density" and choose the second one i think.

Glad I'm not the only one having issues with launcher pro. I liked the app so much I bought it for my old HTC Desire, it worked great and I never had any issues. Trying to get it working on my Gnote has been problematic.
It loads, but as soon as I try to use the Launcher Pro calender widget it crashes and FC's. Happens every time. I'm using the paid version of the app on the Stock Gnote ROM with the over the air ICS upgrade. It's really annoying.
I've sent error reports and emailed the developer - but not had a reply as of yet. I'm wondering if development has been discontinued?

Check the last update date. Federico (the dev) has left the building, and he doesn't work on the launcher anymore. People have been waiting for an update for more than a year, but he keeps saying that he's busy with a re-write of LP. He said that like 14 months ago, so in other words; nothing is going to happen.
Install a new launcher and keep moving forward. LP is dead.
Launcher pro does'nt work well, and is not optimised for ics.

Ah. That's not good.
Do Google leave unmaintained apps in the PlayStore indefinitely? Seems like people could be paying for it - then after a couple of days realising there are bugs and nobody to fix them.

Lag

I've got tons of it. Anyone else. No, I will not root.
Where are you seeing the lag? Chrome isn't so hot for me, but otherwise no lag. There are some apps you can turn off without rooting. Maybe it would be worth going through the list of apps and turning off whatever you can that you don't think you will use and see if that helps at all.
Yeah, stay away from Chrome if you want it smooth. I always have lag/stutter with Samsung tablets when browsing with Chrome. Stock Android? Chrome is usually quite happy. Basically, the stock browser works much better with this tablet. Turning off apps always helps. Also give it a few days for everything to settle in and all the apps are installed/updated. Oh, and...reboot!
With that said, I have still seen some occasional and minor stutter when swiping down for the menu and maybe switching certain full-screen apps. Otherwise at this point, the stock launcher itself and overall experience is fairly smooth. Can't say that with most non-stock android tablets.
There is perhaps a one or two second delay in opening certain apps. Not sure if that's just the time it takes to kick it off or if they built in that delay to help prevent stutter. Either way, should still load most apps pretty quick.

Scrolling in Stock browser, especially in MW. Swiping homescreens, stock widgets taking few seconds to load. My note 3 has a lot of same issues. I just have very little patience to deal with it at this point. While this is better than anything out there, it is still unrefined.

I understand first adopters are beta testers of sorts, but this is a device that has been rumored for 2 years.
I do get lag at points but we kinda know this when we buy a tw device i dont think ive ever owned a non laggy tw device, however its not excessive and yes Chrome has become atrocious on most devices however this is the first release of the software and it normal gets better as its optimised
I highly recommend the Chrome Beta browser currently in the play store. Ive had nothing but smooth sailing browsing with it. Rendering is on par if not better than on the ipad....the stock chrome browser and samsung browser cant hold a candlestick to it...just tweak the settings prior to using and you will be browser heaven. I prefer chrome because of sync features with my computer and phone...its a no frills browser...but I think they did a wonderful job with the current beta version.

Chrome is indeed horrible on the 12.2. Jumpy and laggy. I've been using Dolphin, but the stock browser seems to be the smoothest. Still not an ipad, but quite decent.
I did try Chrome Beta and yes, it appears to be smoother with large complex pages, not an ipad either, but better than the normal Chrome on the 12.2
Chrome is absolutely fine on my Note 2 running Android HD ROM.
Maybe it's something to do with gpu rendering or ram management.
Looks like it's up to this fine community of modders to do Samsung's job for them. Again. For a change.

Chrome beta browser on my Note Pro has been whooping my ipad air safari browser IOS 7.1 Beta 5...I can only assume that mileage will vary by usage. I've always been a fan of Safari especially since the tab refreshes and crashes are somewhat nonexistent, however if I'm picking up a tablet strictly to browse, my Note Pro is my go to device now?
Of course I have Google Now Launcher installed and running, so maybe this is directly affecting my browsing in a positive way.

Even Sammobile hits the NotePro on the lag:

I agree with you 1000% I customized my own ROM and removed all the unnecessary bloat bogging this monster down.
Now I don't experience any lag whatsoever, especially after getting rid of "Touchwiz" and installing Nova Prime! Now thats money well spent. I also edited the build.prop file and changed my DPI settings from 320 to a nice 270.Now let's talk about having some real, real estate on this tablet. I can now get several widgets on just one home screen page and this sucker looks sweet and it screams performance without any slowdown, lag, whatsoever! This is what the manufacturer should have done in the begining.

[YALFT] Yet Another Lag Fix Thread

Hi guys, the LG G3 has some serious specs as well as some serious lag issues. Most of you have noticed that the device is not as smooth as other competor devices such as the M8, Nexus 5, etc.
I have gotten my device to optimal performance without the need of any thermal setting nor ART. Im currently running over 10+ xposed modules without any problem no lag whatsoever.
Here are the things I did (Its quite simple actually) (And yes this requires root)
1.) Removed the cruddy stock LG launcher that has some serious response issues and installed an alternative such as GNL.
2.) Removed all the bloat that came preinstalled.
3.) Download the app Trickster Mod and (I recommend making these settings except C stick so that theyre applied on boot.)
A.) Go to general and set the CPU Governor to "Performance".
B.) Go to specific and set the GPU Governor to "Performance" as well.
C.) This one is for extra performance but note that it is EXTREMELY unstable and has caused my device to randomly crashed multiple occasion so be careful with this one. Go to Specific and enable "ZRAM".
D.) Just an extra one just because.. Go to Screen and set the Red, and Green colors to 240 and leave Blue at 255 and you will get some more pleasant colors. (Not a performance tweak but just though i would share.)
4.) Completely optional but helps. Install Gravity box (DONT DO ANYTHING IN THE APP) then go to settings, developer, then change the animation speed to 75%. 75% is perfect as its not to slow nor to fast like 50%.
5.) Add these tweaks to your build prop (Tested and working). These are the tweaks I use for my ROMS and they help dramatically. Copy any paste it from HERE. Or download the build prop and place it in your system from HERE. (Remember to give it 644 permissions OR ELSE )
Regarding battery life, I have not noticed any difference and i've ran this setup for a week now.

Yup, but it has not affected my battery nor gotten unstable in any way. I've had it like this for a week and have seen nothing but improvement.
I can set my stuff to performance in system tuner..... It turns up all the cores to max. Obviously it will be snappier.
I shouldn't have to delete my launcher. That's stupid honestly. Your argument is invalid for those who don't want new launchers.
Post something similar to this that shows cpu times

Once i undid the thermal daemon tweak the amount of heat produced was very minimal. Its always stayed cool, i've only had it heat up once when using a intensive app for a long period of time.
If you guys are skeptical test it out for yourself you will notice a major improvement and battery should be unaffected.

It honestly depends on the user. I see both launchers as fast and extremely smooth. If your not having problems with nove then keep it, if so then try out GNL.

They are supposed to change some of the core settings of the device, mainly it focuses on GPU performance and UI Draw. No there are not any risks i've fully tested them for a very long time now.
