Evo3D upgrade question - General Questions and Answers

Alright, I'm planning on buying it but it says without a 2 year contract, It's 5-600$
I'm already on a contract and can't pay 600$ for a new phone. I only have roughly 200$

When is your upgrade due? Like how close?

I can upgrade in august.

So, when you are able to upgrade your phone, you get it for the promo price? :|

[Q] If I can get this off-contract for 200, should I?

I've never had an Android phone, but something tells me the Captivate won't be the phone to have for 2 years.
But is it worth getting for 200 dollars? To mess around with and experiment with? I mean I'd use it as my main phone and all, but it's gotten such bad press, I'm not sure what to think of it. Not to mention the guy I am buying it from is switching to Sprint or Verizon because of a lack of HTC Android Phones on ATT.
So, should I go for it? It is a brand new Galaxy S, or a refurbished one... I don't know actually. It is in a box that was sent to him to replace his bricked Galaxy S from when he canceled an update.
And, is the GPS really that bad? Considering my Touch Pro's GPS is horrible, I don't expect much!
Off contract? Yes.
If I could switch to Verizon, Sprint, or T-Mobile, I'd be goner than gone.
Go for it. It's a good deal.

Any chance you will share where you can get this phone for $200 off contract. I paid that for min on contract. I would love to get one for my wife but she has another year before she is eligible for an upgrade.
If you go to at&t's site, login and try to buy this phone without a contract they will charge you over $400.
hehe. i'm just gonna pay the breach of contract and switch to sprint for the evo or the epic. not sure wich, but i'm tossing mine up on craigs list. oh, and overstock.com is advertising them for .01 with new contract...
Paid $120 for mine after I called AT&T and told them that my crenelation is less than $100 or they can sell me the new phone for $120. The never thought twice and overnighted the phone to me for the $120.
I paid 230 for mine the first week it came out. I eventually went to best buy and got 80 bucks from them when they put it on sale
I paid $200 for mine. Totally worth it.
Coming from an x10 user, this phone is really good. Of course there is better, there always is hurting the price that you're getting is really good too.

I would give a resounding "heck yeah". Get it. If you don't like it, you will most likely be able to sell for a profit.

[Q] Finding mytouch cheaper?

So I wanna get the mytouch 4g. I'm currently one year into my two year contract with tmo with my gravity 2 (phone sucks). I talked to a rep and told me the phone would cost me around $300 since I'm not eligible for a full upgrade. Any way of getting the phone for less thru someone (Wirefly, etc.)?

Nope. The phone $450 without a contract
Switch over to a Family Plan and add the MyTouch as a new line maybe? Then just remove all the features on one of the lines. New lines qualify for the $150 pricing I think.
Do some back to back warranty replacements then threaten to cancel your contract if you don't get a new phone. It worked for me, and they sent me a free phone without renewing my contract.

A friend of mine just tried that ... He ended up with an LG Optimus... That's the best they would give him.
This is an example of a conversation questions, this will stay in general section.
They first tried to get me to upgrade, but I told them it was cheaper to cancel my contact and get a new phone through att. Needless to say they transfered me straight to retention.

Craigslist !
Give it about two weeks and then check Craigslist.
Theres already a brand new in unopened box G2 for $350.00
in my area on C/L. I've seen a couple G2's for $300.00.
The MyTouch 4g will be the same in a couple weeks.
I bought my Nexus on C/L.

What are the best contract deals in the UK

So I took my sensation back on Sunday... it had a few bugs in it and also wasn't convincedi was getting the best deal with vodafone.... though the signal was much better than my desire on tmob.... I'll probably sick with voda
Anyway... the question its where its everyone getting the phone from? Phones4u was offering me a good deal but was slightly put off when they said the warranty with then was only a year where as vodafone will cover it for the whole contract.
The online deals are good but if anything goes wrong then you need to post it away and warrior for ages for them to sort it.
Just wondering what's everyone's preference?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I could get a 20% discount through my work so I was sorted. I got a £40 a month 18 month contract bumped down to £32 using the discount. Winner!
...there's something I don't like about 2 year contracts. Just seems far too long to be with one handset.
Agreed... I miss the times of 1 year contracts.... its the reason I'm not canceling my tmob though.... since I didn't get an upgrade at the time they've reduced my tariff to 8 pound a month... at anytime I can get an upgrade though... so I'll leave that rolling... get a sensation on another tariff then after 12 months... reduce the sensation one and get a different one with tmob

Take advantage of your system there must be a loophole somewhere. In US phone cost 550 full retail no contracts. Alot of peoples sign up a new 2 yrs contract 199 after 15 days they cancel their contract cost 200 early termination fees. Comes out to 400 add tax ill give it 450 max

Original full price for NS4G?

What was the original price for the NS4G when it was first released? Trying to figure out how much I'll get back for it when I sell it to Best Buy
599 or 699. I know after 6 months u get like 350 back
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
I bought my 4G from BestBuy on release day flat out for $699.99.
Why didn't you have them price match the Sprint retail price? Which is considerably lower. Just saying if you are paying "retail" then you have a case more than disputing a contract price.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
$199 with contract.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G
I'm not disputing anything, don't they give you whatever percentage of the retail value back to you with their buy-back program?
Yes. Its 50% within the first 6 months. Here is a link.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Misc/Buy-Back-Program/pcmcat230000050010.c?id=pcmcat230000050010
I wasn't saying anyone was disputing anything. What I meant was, if you were buying it retail you should have told them that Sprint sells it for $549.00. Would have saved you $150.00 on the release day.
Edit: Also in terms and conditions it says that the buyback program does not start til 30 days after the purchase. So in all actuallity you have til the 7th month of purchase to sell it back.

You folks must all be the daddy warbucks type. I got my NS4G brand new off craigslist for $170 in box, a month ago. Pays to arrive late at the party and pay way less.
They're giving em away for free a BB right now where i live
I traded my Evo for mine. Definitely satisfied with my end of the trade.

Upgrade early?

Last summer they let me upgrade my device 1 year through my 2 year contract if I renewed my 2 year contract again...I was wondering if they will let me do it again this summer?
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA
From what I've heard they will usually let you get an upgrade 6 months early if you call them. Never heard of 1 year though.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using xda premium
Yeah I just had to pay $20 extra than normal 2 year price. It would be nice if I could and im hoping. Ill go in in june and see what they say
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA
Would you mind keeping us posted with what happens? I'm curious to see if this is indeed possible.
Verizon usually will send you a mailer home after one year letting you know about upgrading early (in certain instances) . But you must upgrade withing a certain amount of time ..if you choose not to they will take that offet off the table and youll have to wait 8 more months (youboriginal upgrade date) before you can upgrade at discounted price.

Cool thanks for letting me know and yes I will keep it updated

Early Upgrade
Verizon has removed early upgrades. You will be eligible at the 20 month mark. I am a verizon rep and have to talk to people every day about this. I know in some instances they will push forward an upgrade in order to keep a customer, but just wanting an upgrade will not justify that action. With that, it looks like you will be in your phone a little longer.
Aw that's to bad...looks like im gonna be putting out about $500+ in june then lol
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA
As stated by bairste, they no longer offer this. If I'm not mistaken, this was part of the New Every 2 offer they used to offer. The main account of any plan would be eligible for upgrade much earlier than the usual 2 years. Unfortunately, this is no longer available.
You would have to check after a year. I think that you upgraded AFTER they removed the early upgrade, but check your account online to be sure. Odds are, you'll have the choice of waiting until 20 months, or paying full retail. Good news is, if you have a 4G phone and go to a 4G phone that has the same sized SIM, upgrading is as easy as putting the old SIM in the new phone.
Do you know if the galaxy nexus uses the sim we have or micro sim? Im thinking about buying one
Sent from my SCH-I510 using XDA
It uses the micro sim.
