But not ours!
I know that blows! I posted a thread in the themes and apps section and hopefully someone can port the evo version to our phone. Not sure if it is possible or not.
It's not like the phone isn't capable nor share a common drm library with its HTC counterparts. STUPID
Agreed. I'm trying to find the apk for the evo just to give it a shot. Netflix is really pissing me off lately!
I have the app already but it wont work
Sent from my quietly rooted Inspire 4g running MIUI 1.4.29v2
I just downloaded the Evo apk and it won't even open to attempt an install.
There's an apk posted on the Evo forum. I installed it and I get sound but no picture.
I insalled apk from Android app subfroum. Got sound no picture...goes back.to main menu after 2 seconds
Inspired from my Inspire 4G using XDA Premium App
here are the files i have
i tried logging in and all and it was about to start streaming (loading screen) before throwing me an error saying its not supported on the device.
then i tried installing the com.netflix.... apk and it did the same thing :\
i'm on ARHD3.7
Does anyone else find it BS that our phone (QSD255 ARMv7) was left out even though it has a similar ARMv7 chipset to the Nexus One (QSD250 ARMv7)? I'm calling BS on Netflix's "DRM" comments.
Agreed.
10char
in the PR they said it will be coming to most android phones soon so be patient =)
We are. I'm just calling bull on their DRM comments from the PR...
xda devs have managed to port it to droid x, droid 2 and og droid. Now we need some love!

Hopefully it's just a matter of time. If HBO can do it, so can Netflix! Or better yet, one of the xda devs!
Running on my gingerbread captivate, trying to get it working on my wifes inspire though.
Quality is good, runs very smooth.

Ummm... I have it on my phone, and it works perfectly. Don't know where you guys are searching...
I'm uploading to my dropbox now for you all. I'll post it in the apps section in just a few...
EDIT DISREGARD THIS POST. IT WORKED FOR 6 MINUTES, THEN CRASHED. MY APOLOGIES FOR GETTING HOPES UP.

Mine worked for about 6 minutes. I asked the devs to merge my thread with this one. I got excited and posted away when I got a picture. Now it's gone. :-( That was a n00b move on my part, and I apologize.

Just thought I'd share some news I saw this morning:
Hulu Plus for Android
Hopefully, we will see the Thunderbolt added to the compatibility list... or maybe a Dev will take a look at it.
+1, I have a HULU subscription and not a Netflix. I have been waiting for this and of course the T-Bolt is not supported but My X that i sold. "sigh"...Please HULU or devs....make this work, i will be forever greatful.
Has anybody tried to download the apk and install it on the Thunderbolt? Is it the same error we originally had with Netflix? (Unsupported device)

I did install it and that is basically the error that I received.
Could someone explain in terms if hulu and netflix, what makes one device compatible and another not. I mean the tbolt should be better in every aspect than the droid x (hence my upgrade) yet it works on that device. Someone mentioned that it works on the HTC inspire. How is that different than the tbolt?
Just hack flash and run it in the browser, works just fine there

The app checks the phone model and refuses to run if it isn't on the built in whitelist. I am sure there will be a patched .apk with the device check removed soon.

That sucks even more. I thought there was some real technical hardware or software reason but thats just plain model discrimination.
Wonder how HULU decides on this wish list
Thats what I dont understand... Isnt the HTC thunderbolt and HTC Inspire have the same specs besides the Network bands... Why release for the Inspire and not the thunderbolt??
how do you guys have netflix? is it from GB?
Hulu Plus appears to be available for Froyo phones, good for many of us (Inspire and Atrix I know are both on Froyo)
One would think someone will hack it just like Netflix. Who knows how these companies are deciding what devices to support but it's frustrating!
There has been a hulu hack out for a while now. I have been running hulu since the hack like 2 months ago. If you are rooted you can use hulu

Awesome! Been waiting for this.
Smh getting so sick of android man
You could probably edit the build.prop so that your phone identifies itself as one of the supported phones to get it to work. I don't have a hulu plus account and frankly i don't care enough to test

After reading through someone's logcat while running hulu plus, it only seems not to work because it's sniffing your phone type. Just need to edit the app to not detect it or as mentioned already, change your build properties. I dont have hulu+ so can't really find the solution easily myself.

Coming from wp7, android fragmentation can definitely be frustrating. Seeing other devices run something you can't is just part of android I guess. Not to mention that some games won't ever come to the bolt either.

lol agreed.. this device can run this, but cant run that. Total BS. I could understand if there were hardware limitations or something but it just seems like arbitrary garbage now.
I was over on the Samsung Intercept threads on SDX Developers Forums and I saw the below thread linked from there. I figured if it worked for the Moment and the Intercept that it was worth a try on my WiFi only Galaxy Tab. And, IT WORKED!!!
The resolution wasn't great, the sound volume was low, and it was a little choppy...but it worked!! I just watched about 15 minutes of the movie Kick Ass to test it out and it was working!
I don't know if it will work with the GSM or CDMA versions of the Galaxy Tab because I only have the WiFi only version, the GT-P1010. I have FroYo 2.2.1 running on my rooted Galaxy Tab.
Credit needs to go to the original person that posted this. I did not develop this or have anything to do with it. I am merely passing on the information.
Since I don't meet the requirements yet for minimum posts...I can't post a link.
If you head over to SDX Forums and look under "Tablets" --> "Samsung Galaxy Tab" --> "Tab -Development" --> and then you'll see my NETFLIX post.

The program said it needed an update and when I clicked the link it showed it in the market. The update fixed my low volume. Working great.
I guess it's a moot point now that it's in the Android Market for all devices running 2.2 and 2.3.

Hooray! Confirmed working on my P1010 tab. Awesome share!!
Both the apk and the one in the market gives me an error, the app opens and i can access my account and movies, but when trying to actually watch a movie i get something along the lines: "Your device needs to be updated to watch instantly from netflix. Visit the manufacturer or netflix/NRD to obtain more information"
At this point im not sure if its because im outside USA (we just got netflix a couple of days ago) and android is just not supported here yet or if its something about my device.
Im running rooted gingerbread on a verizon CDMA Galaxy Tab 7".
How about using ip hide and set ur country as usa then try configure back ur netflix. Give it try man.

The .apk is below, please report whether it works.
According to Sky it should only work on:
HTC Desire
HTC Desire S
HTC Desire HD
HTC Incredible
HTC Sensation
Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy S II.
And it only works on Froyo (2.2) and Gingerbread (2.3), so no ICS yet using the official app.
There are also some issues with root and DRM begin not able to see some content.
credit to Sky for the app.
credit to gumbald for the upload.

Can you please only post if you have something to add to the discussion, not a post saying how do i get this working on my rom.
To be helpful follow this guide:
1) Try this APK out if the one on the first post doesnt work (Also
thank gumbald for his hard work here while you are there):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22801668&postcount=555
2) Check this spreadsheet (thank lennyuk for the spreadsheet management):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AnLqAJT56SsbdGI2QWJYV1dodFpaWWk3QnkxLWNxN0E#gid=0
look for your device, check to see what info is available for it if its found.
3)If you cant find your device And/Or you have more up to date info fill in this Form:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGVDOXNockJRanJZcEtmNWdEemVIdUE6MQ
4) If you have something useful to add like, "I got Sky working after flashing this rom found at this xda thread" then post here detailing what you did and what android device this worked on, otherwise keep this thread clean please.
5) If you are having issues with 2 devices only on Sky, check here for a possible solution:

You have an S2 which is supported can you upload?!
I think root only blocks not live tv, which is still annoying.

Yeah - i'd love to try to see if the .apk might work - no harm since its a free app anyway - We could be waiting a long time to get it on other devices. Especially like a tablet.......... Any upload would be greatly apreciated
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bskyb.skygo
Apparently it's compatible with the HP Touchpad, but can't test until I get home tonight.
I sent it to my touchpad too I will check tonight. Disappointed about no ICS love for my Nexus ...
Anyone able to get the APK file up? I want to try it anyway
Just got it from my Desire....
I've installed this on my rooted Galaxy Nexus (4.02) and when I try and sign in it says," Sorry, Sky Go is not currently supported on this device. Please see FAQs for more information.". :-(
Installs and runs on rooted galaxy nexus, however when you go to sign in, a message pops up saying sky go is not supported on this device. going to take a lot more trickery to convince it that its running on one of the other devices. Thanks for the APK though.
I've installed it onto my GS2 (Villian Rom 3.0 (2.3.5) rooted obviously) installs fine but will only play Sky News.. all over channels in my subscription just sit on the loading screen.
Sometimes a error flashes up briefly but to quick to see what it says.
As Sky News is a free to air channel this must be down to DRM restrictions on the other channels and therefore this is why its checking for root access???
Thanks for the upload, installs fine on my Nexus but then I cannot sign in, "unsupported device"
thanks for the file tried running it on my transformer, it installs loads in horizontal mode only and won't let me login as my device isn't supported yet! But its a start I suppose cheers
*waits for someone clever to "tweak" the .apk to make it work*
Wouldnt changing the buildprop to that of the SGS2 make it work?
I think thats what we will all be waiting for now, I just wonder who will be first, tweaked version from xda devs or oficial version for ICS from Sky.
I can't even download it because of root presumably.
Anyone know if it works on jailbroken iPhones?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S2 using Tapatalk
Root blocking things on my desire HD. Not even sky news loading.everything gets stuck on 0%
yeah it works on jailbroken iPhones so blocking root makes no sense
"Not supported" message on my CM9 SGS2, eagerly awaiting some clever dude to tweak it!
As an added data point, stock Original Galaxy Tab, .apk from this thread, starts OK but blocked on login due to being an "unsupported device".
I created this thread for all of us Sprint/Nextel Direct Connect fans. Let's all post everything and anything about Sprint Direct Connect here. Thanks: Geronimo.USMC for the APK that he extracted from his Sprint Note II.

I tried on my EVO LTE also. One APK had a parse error, and the other would not load.
For now lets not post our results because we all are getting the results. One package is a parsing error and the other one does not load. Try to keep this thread clean so we don't have everyone posting the same results. Again i'm hoping some developers can shed some light on this and get this working somehow. Thanks in advance who ever does! =)
I talked with SPRINT and the APK will not work without to correct SOC code attached to the account. They also said that the accounts will not allow the SOC to be attached, unless it is one of the junk phones that legitimately supports the feature. At this time the only other phones in the pipeline for release are LG's.
BUNK!!!
