I have been really excited to get this phone, but every day I keep seeing major issues coming up. I just got the phone today and have 14 days to return it. I just dont know if im sold on it, especially if Galaxy S 2 is just on the horizion. It seems like there is potential. They wouldnt let me upgrade on my tmobile account, so we signed my wife up for a new account. Just cant decide if I should return it and cancel the account or keep it and cancel my account. Thoughts?

I received my second G2x(replacement for the first one) and in less than 6 hours it is has proved to be worse than the first one. Tm is sending me a replacement but if this one has issues than I will definitely wait for SGSII. I really do like this phone but I cannot put up with black screen freezes while charging and while talking on the phone as well as lcd screen bleeding and signal issues etc.. If you got a good one without a lot of issues I would say keep it, however if you got one like one I received than I would advise to either replace or just return.

I bought two phones, both work flawlessly. This is also true for the great majority of people who purchased this phone. Some unlucky (or in some cases possibly too picky) people, however do have some issues. If you plan on holding out for a phone with no reported issues, however, I wish you good luck.
Love. Simply love it.

I'm also on my second phone and it's worse than my first!
This is nothing new to me, I went through 3 Vibrants before getting a good one!
We have to go through the first batch till we get a good one!

Me too. CM7 will be the icing on the cake though.

As with anything, people who aren't happy are going to be far louder than the happy people
I like mine so far except for the battery issue (software glitch?) and a few other software glitches (vibrator stays on during a call sometimes, and the phone got stuck in a reboot-launcher-crash loop when I removed the Vino or whatever reader), the thing I miss most is a physical keyboard!
I'm having issues with mine but when it's working this phone is amazing. I really think if you give it a month we'll have most of these issues worked out either by LG updates to 2.2 or even a new 2.3 or CM7.

In fact on sure the phone was launched early to avoid running against the sensation. I'd day with 2.3 the sensattion does not have a chance.
But I've Bern wrong before. Lol.

Mine has been great no problems what so ever.... if anything I have just a tiny bit and I mean tiny bit of screen bleed other then that it is perfect it is so fast... I love it so far.... and CM on it will make it even better
This phone has insane speed in 2.2. Gingerbread would probably be faster.

Came from a nexus s and I love this phone! The screen is awesome, even for a lower Res it looks sharp. I recently went to a tmo store and they told me the gs2 wont be coming for tmo till q3. So if u plan on staying in tmo, you'll probably be waiting for a while. Unless the Rep was lying.

Honestly there is only ONE thing I dont LOVE LOVE LOVE about this phone. Im not a fan of my screen bleeding seen here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1050691
Other than this issue I feel like this is everything I wanted in a phone when I bought my vibrant. Unfortunately the vibrant was dissapointment after dissapointment. Only think good about it was the beautiful screen. Its so blazing fast, the camera is really good, FFC, stock android, CM7 support SOON, 4g, flash, super nice and bright screen and lots of other great features. Notice how I said the screen is super nice even with the screen bleeding which only shows up on a black screen. Honestly OVERALL the screen is much nicer than the SAMOLED screen by samsung. During the day its actually visible and has a better field of view. Sure the samsung has deeper blacks but overall its worth the trade for a much more versatile screen overall. Being able to use stock android again feels like im back to my roots. I hated touchwiz and soooo happy to be done with it.
Love it. No issues (yet?), and I've been cranking it hard, putting it through it's paces.
Love this phone, build quality right up there with my beloved hd2. Even the haptic feedback is sexy.
This is my second replacement and if I have anymore problems I'm taking it back and waiting for the HTC sensation or something.
Sent from my G2x
I'm in the same boat. I want to love it, but the screen is really a deal killer for me. Yes I know its normal for LCD screens to bleed, but whenever I'm watching videos at night it always seems to bug me. So I start 'messaging' the area and then it gets worse
Going to buy one at t-mobile store tomorrow to see if i get lucky. The lady said yeah if theres a manufacturers defect, then I can replace it on the spot. I don't know if they're just saying that though just to get me to buy it. If its a better one, I'll just send the one i have now back to t-mobile.
besides screen bleeding everythings a + for me. especially coming from an n1. development from cm7, which will make me love this phone even more. yes people will have problems with this phone but lets be honest. is every phone going to be perfect? there will always be pros and cons. people deal with it differently.
I'm loving this phone. I haven't had any problems at all. Screen is flawless, no rebooted or signal problems. I highly recommend it.

when i got this phone i loved it, it was fast, GB was coming "soon" and it seemed as though development would be coming in strides. 2 months later, i'm not even using it, back on the nexus one. the battery issue and screen discoloring have just taken it's toll. maybe it's me being nitpicky, maybe it's me loving to have a ton of roms to flash and play with. or maybe it's that 2 months later there isn't even really ONE GREAT rom to have on it... CM is even not a good solution at this point. anyway, it's being retired, showed a lot of promise, but as i thought when i bought the phone, it's an LG and there won't be development like there is for HTC. sure at the time everyone was weary of htc's future with their bootloader policy. 2 months later we have word the sensation and all future devices will ship with unlocked bootloaders and they're even making sense open. not comparable to me, even if you don't like sense, there will be rom'age going on for the sensation the likes of which haven't been since since the nexus one. so i'll be selling the g2x on ebay or trade in value at a store, really i wanted to love it. anyone else feeling this way?

Nope I'm loving mine. Did you try Ultimate G2X rom? Its been the most stable for me. I don't have any issues running this rom. I've had this phone for about a month now. I considered going back to my N1 at one point but I think it was just because that's what I was used to and this phone is different. Now I wouldn't trade it. The phone is a beast.
And I believe that development has perhaps not taken off so rapidly because developers are waiting to see what the Gingerbread release brings to the table. That's just my theory anyway.
How much you gonna sell yours for?
I think I'm gonna get the sensation. I really did not want to because I love the g2x but I think I may have to. First few days had zero problems now starting to have freezing issues. I've always been happy with HTC so I'm excited to try it.

They gave an "update" and now they've washed their hands of it. Don't expect anything further.
I hate to admit it, but yeah. Not a peep has been said about this thing since then. It's about 85% as good as it should be though. not sure how comfortable people are when asked to live with something that is only 85% there... I have one of the "good ones" and get decent battery life of over 24Hr and only the occasional instance where it shuts down and needs a battery pull.
The Stock tweaked OTA is pretty nice though and with some more tweaking it ends up being, at least for me, the most stable and reliable Rom.

dang you get that much battery life?? im on evil's and i could barley hit 6.4 hours without it dying if im doing anything on the phone besides texting .. if just texting all day n lil things like calls (no games or websites or nothing) i get a good 15 hours .. is that my phone issue or software or usage cause my phones doesn't do anything bad like shut off n stuff after like 150 hours of uptime it starts lagging so i just restart it but thats it . . . .but yea i guess i shouldn't expect much but thats a real ****ty way to conduct business =/
Thats it, phone is history to them, i really doubt they will do anything else for this phone.....hope I'm wrong.
doubtful this phone will get ICS after how bad lg and tmobile ****ed up, nvidia is no better not releasing source for their tegra chip either to help devs out.
I just wish someday our g2x phones get a baseband flasher similar to smartflash cuz lg updater tool/kdz method doesn't work on all g2x's that are semi bricked.

Went in today to look at the bionic. Was playing with it...its pretty nice. Light, squarish, and as wide as the sensation. Pretty nice feel.
REP walks up and says "ever see anything that fast?" I says, says I, as a matter of fact, yes. I pulled out my G2x. And side by side we compared.
The rep finally had to admit,"Not bad"
And here was I, one of the lucky ones with no reboot prolems, hardware is pretty good, running stock OTA, showing the bad Bionic which phone rules them all.
Wished one of you guys was there with your souped up mods. They might have had to close the store and merge with T-Mobile.
This phone should have been The Beast. But now it fades away...
The phone is 5 months old and was a fail from the get-go. I learned to stay away from anything LG and Nvidia.
well the new, maybe better phones will be available in every couple months, so maybe we should wait a year or two to get a rly GOOD phone. Ohh wont work, most of us would cry about it right after new releases. IMO.
Still love my phone
Eh, I don't use stock so I could care less. My phone works great, and that's all that really matters.

I have to say i've been pretty pleased with this phone. The first smartphone I had was the Blackberry Curve 8900...TERRIBLE experience. I walked into the T-Mobile store just to see how much longer I had left on my contract before I could upgrade. The rep looked at my contract and said "how does today sound?" I turned toward the G2x and said "...that one."
Being the tech guy I am (mainly computers) I had obviously done extensive research and already had the G2x in mind, but wasn't expecting to walk out the store with it. Despite hearing the negative reviews about boot looping, I took and chance.....and glad I did.
I've had this phone for a couple days now and I gotta say...I love it. Gonna root it tonight (fingers crossed...never rooted a phone before) but if I end up not being able to do it, it'll be ok. It's still a kick-ass phone
So I've wanted my sensation for like months before it came out, I was able to get my hands on one 3 months ago, I'm a hard core HTC fan, but started getting some pretty nasty issues, like a lot ! a lot ! of dust under the screen, my camera would not focus no matter what ! and some other little things. I had rooted it and used pretty much every rom avalable, but now had to send it back in for repair. Now many of you might not know what or where Bulgaria is but here you can never expect good service . I called the store from which I bought it and on the dust problem one of the guys who actually repair the devices told me that "I probably keep it in a very dusty place". I got mad and called HTC Bulgaria (which I didn't know existed) , they checked my IMEI and told me I'm covered by them also, so I got back to stock, give them my phone, next day they call me and It's all done ! didn't give me a new device, but changed pretty much the whole module. No dust, camera works, and all is good once again ! So now I love them guys even more, If anyone needs some help with going back to stock and the normal instructions are too hard, just pm me, I'll try to help out since I'm not that "pro" myself but know whats going on.

I like the suport from them here in Romania.
HTC in the USA is good like that too. They've always looked out if I have had an issue.
I better get an ice cream sandwich after having to deal with your crap HTC. This device was full of flaws when I bought it. That was inexcusable after paying top dollar for it. Verizon (Ripoff Mobile, Inc.) was too uptight to do anything about it. I would not be surprised if all the official talk was nothing more than hot air in the end. At least developers are working on a version. I am so glad I finally had some time to get root permissions on this phone. Did you feel betrayed after buying your TBolt? Easy killer. My phone has worked mostly fine since day one. Sure there were some software issues (random reboots due to the LTE radio, GPS, the most annoying), but that is to be expected when you buy bleeding edge technology. This was the first Verizon LTE smartphone, EVER.
That being said, the device is still on par with other top devices today. I haven't upgraded, because I haven't found another device I like that much better than this. The Nexus is nice, but I'm not big on the light flimsy build of those phones, plus samsung is notorious for poor reliability. Motorola screen's have been awful so far, or I would have considered the Razr Maxx.
Bottom line...why don't you cry about it...
BTW, there is nothing special about ICS. Sure it's nice to have the newest thing, but there really isn't that much to get excited about. I still don't understand why honey comb and ICS got rid of the search button. I use that thing constantly.
I have to say I've been 99% happy with this phone since release.
The 1% was the odd rebooting issue I had for 4 weeks in aprilish.

Honestly I've liked this phone since I first got it, battery life sucked but that was nothing rooting and loading a rom couldn't fix. Other than that I'm still happy with my purchase.
I especially like it cause me and my girlfriend got phones from a good batch, handles low voltages and overclocking even up to 1.8 (not needed though) perfectly.
Thanks to all the developers who have been developing for the thunderbolt since day one, and all that are continuing to do so!

Let's see.
1. The phone was the Flagship phone for LTE and was released with Froyo.
2. The phone was buggy at release and still shows some issues.
3. Not everyone's phone was "perfect out of teh box". Some of us had to get replacements multiple times to get a *good one*.
4. ICS does have improvements over Froyo and GB.
5. Official OTA release of ICS will allow devs to create much better ROMs for this phone, rather approaching it by piecemealing parts from other Official ROMs.
6. Lastly, this phone was sold at a premium price and VZW's/HTC's support has been lackluster to be kind about it.
Note: I don't know the OP from Adam, but your experience, like mine, is anecdotal and not indicative of all others. VZW screwed the pooch on the roll-out and
HTC screwed the pooch on the releases of updates, support and finally, by rushing the damn thing out the door before it was ready.

That's with any phone these days. I haven't had a single smartphone I haven't had to replace for one reason or another.
On a side note, the Tbolt isn't the only flagship phone with problems. The Galaxy Nexus has really bad call connectivity problems from what I hear, and that's supposed to be the MAIN function of a PHONE. lolz
All i will buy is htc. I know updates are slow to come. I also dont care. The newest isnt always the best, there are usually a fresh set of bugs to work out. That being said, the devs here and other sites give me enough variety to satisfy me. If you dont like the process, learn to code.

I'm sure HTC is reading your post right now
If you care, go call them and say what you said directly as it will do far more good for you and for the community.
I moved onto a Nexus, but I still use my Thunderbolt for development testing apps I make. Not even the Nexus is perfect though as the internal antennas are not as powerful at picking up data. My db is usually 10-15db worse than the thunderbolt. However, I would not trade my Nexus for any other phone as I got tired of having to wait on HTC and Verizon for updates on the Thunderbolt.
i just lol at this thread.
Im an HTC fan. I got my tbolt on launch day and have never had an issue (not saying some havent) but I couldn't be happier.
Still have yet to find one phone on the market that has everything the tbolt has (not including dual core, which has not really impressed me) and still think it is a top 4g phone.
I would buy it all over again. We have received everything promised so far & it would be a nightmare for HTC to not give us ICS after they confirmed it...
I also have to say that Verizon did not screw up or delay the launch. There was never an official launch date given from them or HTC until the week before release, as is the norm with their releases. All other dates were made up by the internet and people.
HTC released about 6 updates to the phone between march and September, I think that is pretty good at keeping on top of it..

I got the TB for $49 bucks new when I dropped T-Mobile. Rooted it the day I got it home and have never had a single problem with it that I cannot blame on bugs in the ROM or me OCing the crap out of it.
Everyones phone is gonna be better or worse than the next guy. Did we get screwed by Verizon??? Show me where in writing the promise a full ICS upgrade and you will see thousands of TB owners lining up to sue the piss off Verizon and HTC.
If you are gonna stay up on the newest devices, Hopefully you are not paying retail for the devices, Shop around and you will be amazed at what you can find.
I have a galaxy nexus just sitting on stand-by cause i've had no problems with my tbolt, besides the dev slowing down i really have no problems with my tbolt and has been my favorite phone. while it would be nice to get ICS soon im not tripping about it, my contract for the thunderbolt ends in december much wait and see what comes out by then.
why is anyone bothering to respond to this guy? He doesn't like his phone, he needs to quit whining about it and get rid of it. No amount of "I love my phone!" posts are going to change his mind. They just bump this useless thread back to the top. Yes, I know I also just bumped this thread.

Point is what ever phone you go to there will be something that bugs you about it and the update that fixes your problem will never come out fast enough.. be happy for what you have..
