Hi, this is my first post, but I have been reading around a bit and I've just used AlphaRevX to S-OFF my HTC Incredible S. However, when I try to access HBOOT through volume down + power button it just starts up like it normally would. Does anyone know what seems to be the problem?
Have you turned off fastboot in "settings-power"?
How permanent is the AlphaRevX S-OFF
Hello there
I have also just used AlphaRevX to successfully S-OFF my HTC Aria.
I'm wondering how permanent this S-OFF is?
Is it S-OFF at the radio/nvram level or is it S-OFF at the bootloader level.
More specifically, will I loose S-OFF with an OTA?
I'm still a bit new to all of this so I hope this isn't a stupid question.
Thank you in advance.

This is S-OFF at the HBOOT (bootloader) level. It is not as permanent as S-OFF at the Radio level.
You will lose S-OFF if you use an RUU or get an OTA.

Try to remove the battery, after some time try again by pressing strong "Volume Down" and "Power On" keep it pressed until HBOOT appear.
You can try also without any connected USB cable, when you are in HBOOT connect the cable to the phone.

Hey everyone,
It's come to my attention by a particular individual that our phone has shipped with two (or more?) HBOOT versions. If you could please let me know what version your phone is running by voting on the poll I would appreciate it. This is important for S-OFF exploit purposes.
not seeing the poll yet (I realize you just posted this), but my hboot version:
1.44.0007
Another 1.44.0007
and MICROP-0353
I think you should put the procedure to check the HBOOT just in case some people don't know.

Power down phone.
Remove battery.
Wait 5 seconds.
Re-insert battery.
Hold down VOLUME DOWN button while powering on phone.
This will bring up the H-BOOT screen. If you have quick start turned off you probably don't have to remove the battery but this is a pretty fool-proof way to get into H-BOOT.
1.44.0007 for my T-Mobile retail phone
1.44.0007 hboot
Nice to see that revolutionary came through for the mt4gs... I hade a feeling it would
1.44.0007

sounds like everyone thus far has the 1.44.0007 H-BOOT. Hopefully this makes things easier for the devs!?!

you're already running the S-Off bootloader. no one with 1.44.0007 has S-OFF that I'm aware of.

I know. I just didn't want anyone to think there were actually 3 S-ON bootloaders floating around, considering the purpose of this thread was to help prepare for S-OFF via revolutionary.
Seems pretty unanimous so far.
If x.0006 is the S-Off Hboot, and x.0007 is the S-On that we all seem to have, what is 1.44.1107? Is there another version of this phone out there somewhere?
Edit: This seems to be the version you have after Rev S-Off
i have the 006 hboot as well (device was from an HTC training event). has any one procured root and flashed CWM with out S-ON'ing a device with the new bootloader, then running revolutionary? seems like going backwards to me...
No its not backwards. It works just fine. Just follow the directions here: http://revolutionary.io
Sent from my MyTouch 4G Slide using xda premium
i have followed ikhzter instruction with no problem but it says im s-off but my hboot is 1.17.0008 still, in his guide it says
7. You're done. Your Device will Successfully have S-OFF....if it hangs on method 3 and doesn't S-Off. See post 2 below for solutions.
IF REVOLUTIONARY SAYS FAILED YOUR PHONE IS NOT SUPPORTED. Go back and check hboot using the methods above. some users are told its failed and they still have S off now. If you have S-off your hboot will now be 1.17.1011 and revolutionary will tell you now your device is not supported
is it ok?
but i manage to get through all his instruction with no problem
how do i know if i have perm root already?
sorry for noob question
If you have super user and it works, you have root
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
I have the same question/problem 1.17.0008 but S-OFF.. I assume the 1011 is a engineering spl allowing fastboot commands? I could be way off, its been a long time since I messed with HTC stuff (G1)
s-off is just the hboot security correct, and not an unlocked bootloader? Man, I got my sensation Wednesday and its been a crash course trying to relearn the htc way, lol.
oh cool, i got superuser
ty
but is it ok that my hboot remains 1.17.0008?
Super User always means success Its the sexiest icon you could ever see lol
I got a bricked T-mobile Sensation today at the shop and after checking it out I thought it would be easy to fix but unfortunately its proving to be much more difficult than I expected. Here's what I'm working with:
Locked s-on
Hboot 1.18.0000
radio 10.14.9035.01_m
First, I tried all kinds of PG58 zips. None worked. I figure I need to be unlocked to do it. Did the HTC unlock and got to the warning screen and where it asks to choose yes or no. I can navigate to yes or no but when I choose yes it just freezes and doesn't do anything. I tried it 3 different times, same thing. I can't even choose factory reset in Hboot, it just freezes. I don't know what the eff is going on. I've been downloading RUUs but have yet to find the correct one. I don't know what firmware it has because it does not boot up.
I thought, well shoot, I have fastboot, maybe I could just s-off and root from fastboot, but I can't find any thread explaining how to do it.
Any help would be great.
Thanks!
Edit:
Found the correct RUU, 1.50.xxxx whatever. WHen I run the utility It says its rebooting into bootloader but stays in the same screen and doesn't do anything. I don't know if this helps, but when I go into the bootloader I cannot go back into hboot. It just, freezes.
Have you tried this guide?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
And you need to be s-off to flash those pg58 zips, thats why they failed.
As you're on HBOOT 1.18.0000 use the revolutionary method to get S-OFF. http://revolutionary.io
The HTC unlock is a bit redundant as it doesn't give S-OFF which you need.
There are many guides here on XDA to help you. Such as:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
EDIT: Oops didn't notice that "Kazireh" has already posted the link.
You'll need the HTC drivers (download HTC Sync install it then delete HTC Sync leaving the drivers installed).
You should also get the ADB tools installed as at some stage they'll be useful.
As far as the RUU is concerned you need to make sure it's the right one for the current CID on the phone.

Thanks for the help guys, but heres the deal:
I cannot s-off due to it not being able to boot.
I could try Junopbears s-off but I cannot unlock, as it just freezes when I try.
I found the correct ruu but again it freezes and does not boot into the bootloader.
My CID is T-mob010
I have all drivers installed, adb, fastboot, etc
If your on hboot 1.18 you have a gingerbread fw, look for that

There are a few "unbrick" guides, never tried to use them so can't help on that front.

Yeah that's what I'm leaning toward right now, there is nothing else I can do. I have 4 or 5 Mytouchs on the shelf with bad eMMc chips so I guess this one is joining them.

Yes the RUU was 1.50.531.xxxxxx
Yes, I can get into Fastboot usb, I can do fastboot commands, it just freezes when the RUU tries to do its thing.
Jbear would still work if the bootloader were locked, but I couldn't unlock the bootloader. Revolutionary will not work either because its run while the phone is on, which I can't do.
I think I've exhausted every option, it seems to all point to a failed eMMc chip, shame though, I really like these phones.
Thanks for the help fellas

Problem solved, thanks man, you saved me ALOT of stress. I also stumpled on a nifty all in one root program gor gingerbread, so this problem wont ring up again. but again, thank you.
First, let me apologize for probably posting something that's been answered. Unfortunately, the forum search is down right now and I've been working on this for hours and gotten no where. I've been away from updating my phone for a long time and need something more stable.
I'd like to upgrade to Maximus 10 ROM. I'm on H-Boot 1.06. Now I think I need a higher H-Boot and maybe Super CID, but I haven't had any luck with any of those. I tried using Moonshine and that stops working when it tries to ADB, for some reason that I haven't been able to figure out.
Basically, can someone give me a quick rundown of what/where I need to go to get my phone updated for Maximus? Many thanks!

Moonshine is definitely easy, when it works.
You should consider yourself lucky with that low of a HBoot.
You could use Facepalm S-off (most who have updated their phone to Jelly Bean and 2.15 hboot cannot use it.)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155135
After you s-off you could skip onto maximus if you wanted.

Thanks for your help. I've tried Facepalm S-off and it doesn't work (I'm guessing because I'm not SuperCID which I also can't get to work?) I keep getting error Remote: 99 unknown fail after pushing PJ4010000-OneS.zip even after wiping cache, powering down, etc. I've continued on with the rest of the steps and I'm still S-On.
I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.
