I got my USCC Mesmerize about 3 weeks ago....it came with 2.1 Eclair and is my first Android based phone. I got this phone anticipating the 2.2 Froyo release.I want the ability to view flash based content...like video's and such.
I stumbled upon this site while doing some random surfing.
All this talk about ROM's, kernels, root, CWM, flashing this, tweaking that, lagfix, bootloop, fc's...etc was greek to me but in my quest to view flash content via my phone, I sat at my computer for hours pouring over the content within these forums. I read thread after thread about how to mod my phone. I also read content on several other forums.
After a day of researching, I took the plunge into the dark world of Android modding. My first attempt was to use Odin to install 2.2 Froyo with EC11. It seemed to be the most popular build here before the official USCC release.
After completing the upgrade I was able to view flash content....I was very happy! Life was good....except my phone seemed to lag and fc a lot. I tolerated this for about a week until the official release was made.
Growing ever more frustrated with my unstable phone, I opted to the official Froyo release. I was unable to get mini Kies to recognize my phone so I used the Odin version from this site. I loaded both files, returning my phone to completly stock format.
Everything worked....but no flash content. My site has a 2D map that wasn't viewable with 2.1 Eclair but is with Froyo. I could view the 3D map after the first upgrade but can't with the official release.
I then flashed to the 2.2 EC10 PnP build and JT's voodoo kernel from the Fascinate forum. I loved the performance and stability but still unable to view flash content.
Now I am running the Super FrankenClean build with JT's voodoo kernel and the ADW Honeycomb theme. I am very happy with my phone and it's performance and battery life but I still can't view flash content....which was one of the reasons I got this phone.
So, where did I go wrong? I have been trying to find the answer to the now missing flash content but have been unsuccessful....so I am turning to ya'll for help.
Everything worked great with the 2.2 Froyo EC11 build but the phone was unstable....nothing I have done since has made it work. I installed the Adobe 10.2 update but still no luck. When clicking on flash content it says I don't have flash installed then offers a link to get it but the link says it's unable to recognize my operating system. Once in a while, I get the same thing but with java.
I could live without the ability to view flash content....but all the cool kids can view it and I wanna too. ;-)
Thanks in advance for the help and please remember that I am a complete noob to this....you might hafta talk slow so I can understand.

Flash seems to be hit and miss depending on the ROM, I have not yet tried the fascinate port since I'm on MIUI but I will say this, in the past we've found that downloading the 10.0 from the market (and installing) then setting the option within your browser to "always on" instead of on demand will fix the issue. I've gotten this to work for the kongregate app but I have had issues with other flash sites, and that was only on the EC10 rom, I haven't tried testing it on any others as of late. Hope that helps some.
That did the trick! I was concentrating so hard on ROM's that I overlooked the obvious....browser settings. The "enable plug-ins" was set to off...everything works after changing it to "always on".
Thank you so very much. You are my hero. ;-)

Hey all. Been a while since my last release of anything, which was sense based, but I really wanted to start learning android and have a better perspective of it. I decided to dig a bit more into compiling android. Started horsing around with github and learned to start compiling my own builds from aosp wih the help from cmsrc, evervolv, and a few others githubs. Since the release of gingerbread to aosp, i moved away from sense. There are things that i do miss about sense, but the usability of the phone without it is just unmatched imho. Many people use or have used cyanogenmod. IMHO is a great open source project that has some of the best devs out there. I have always been more into the 'vanilla' look opposed to the themed and aftermarket. Recently i have been compiling gingerbread for the evo and mt4g and have had nothing but the best reviews. Basically the reason why i am here. Wondering if there was any interest in a few of my builds. Main reason from moving away from CM6/7 (cyanogenmod), ADW launcher and the extra added bloat(sorry) and themes. Battery life will always be one of my main concerns. Everything should work!
1.3 build is based off 2.3.7. (Thanks cm team) and cm kernel 2.6.x (thanks cm team).
1.2.1 build is based off 2.3.4. (Thanks cm team) and cm kernel 2.6.x (thanks cm team).

I have heard good things about deck roms from my evo friends, thanks for adding heroc to the lineup!
Thanks for this. Looks like I'm gonna need a bigger sdcard for all the nands of different roms coming out lately. (which is good, cuz my upgrade isn't until next year). Look forward to trying this out.

Actually Sprint voicemail. I use Deck Roms on my Evo... Best rom hands down and always updating. I can only assume you would get the same with the Hero side. Going to have to get this for my daughters phone now. Thanks as always Deck.

not really its a stripped down full featured cm7 build with better battery life and some of the gruff removed (cm wallpapers and a few others taken out) its around the range of what aosp was doing
Just flashed this. I'm loving that all these roms are popping up for the Hero since I've probably got another year before I can switch to a different phone. I've been wanting to get away from CM7 and so far this rom seems like a winner. I was loving asopmod for froyo and would love to get back to something that works just as good as that. Had some little issues with CM7 and I'm not really into all the extra stuff they add.

Its so funny, I guess those of us with kids will be giving our hand-me-downs to them. I gave my Heroc to my daughter when I got my Evo. Too bad she won't get the Evo though, as I am upgrading to the Evo 3D soon, and need to sell the Evo to cover the cost. I'm sure glad there are some awesome ROMs like this one to keep the Heroc relevant. My daughter is quite happy, and frankly, I'm impressed! ;-)
gapps with vvm?
does that means there's no phantom voicemail when you flash the gapps signed zip with vvm?
Are the gapps packages in the OP compatible with other GB roms?

As dumb as it sounds, this is exactly why I've stayed with 2.1. And I've stayed with nFinite's Stock release (cleaned up a bit) because of the unmatched battery duration. My interest is piqued

you can get rid of the phantom voicemail by using Go SMS Pro and blacklisting it..
vvm has worked for me in all AOSP ROMs ..
I am currently on Aosp 5/21, using firerats 100 15, cw mod 3xxx. Wiped everything. Would not leave the htc boot screen. Suggestions. Everything was wiped and followed procedures in op

Yes VVM has worked, and yes you can blacklist a number. But blacklisting doesn't stop notifications that several texts were missed, which can't be viewed because it's blacklisted. GoSMS gives you the additional option to view blacklisted messages, which will finally get rid of the notification. But now you're manually checking a VVM text, which has completely defeated the purpose of blacklisting it in the 1st place. This proved to be enough of an annoyance to return to a modified Stock ROM.
This was my experience with CM6. Have tried GoSMS several times but keep coming back to Handcent. If any AOSP has Sprint VVM notifications ignored, thus bypassing the issue above, then I'm all ears.
I tried flashing 'Gapps 5-22-2011 with Voicemail' and got an Installation aborted error message when verifying the update package.
E:Missing file: system/app/BooksPhone.apk
E:Verification failed.
I'm using AmonRA 1.6.2 for recovery.
Edit: Same error with just the plain Gapps in the OP. I ended up flashing a different gapps file and that flashed fine. Finishing up with setting up the phone, so far, so good.

Which ROM are you using exactly?
I know it says 'cm7' in the title, but is it CM7 you're using, or a ROM based on it? And what version of it?
Edit: Or did you get it handled in the threads there?
I just downloaded Sonny's ICS CM7 theme from the market and use the stock ADW launcher. It themes the icons, Widgets, keyboard, all kinds of things. On his xda thread he has themes for other launchers but stock has been looking great. Very easy. I haven't flashed the new font but might.
I haven't screwed with the lockscreen.

Welcome Frostmod version 2.0. A lot of work has gone into this update that I hope you will enjoy. I've spent much time on making this rom highly customizable, in other words, almost nothing is unchangeable. In my frostmod tool box app, you can now change the font of the clock, switch between adw launcher, and gingerbread aosp launcher, and a assortment of boot animations. The old permanent ics lock screen is gone. The one in version 1.6 that required a reboot is to clunky. Now you can simply go into the cyanogenmod menu, and easily apply frostmod lockscreen. there is also no native theming. All my theme work is located in a single theme manager app. A lot of things have been added to my theme, just look at the settings menu. Also in the about phone menu, you will now see a button that says frostmod version. Click on it for a full changelog, help, thanks and more. The cyanogenmod base has also been updated to cyanogenmod 7.2.0 RC1.I hope you like this update. If you enjoy the rom, and the time I spent on it, make sure to give me a thanks
Bellow you will find a download link, and many screen shots. All screen shots have my theming applied, as well as ics clock font. The rom can easily be changed to have the "clean" look". If you have any comments, bug reports, or recomendations, please post them bellow

I am extremely sorry, I had one that booted, but I just restored one of my stock froyo backups, and then flashed to this, and it does not work I am going to take down the download link for now, but I will have one up that works in around 30 minutes
Can't wait for the new file so I can test this out. Thanks man!

Hello, this is a notification on my version 2 rom's progress. I have included a lot of new things, and have gone deeper into the source code. My next rom will have a better theme, but I am attempting to get most of theme into a theme Chooser app so you can decide if you want my themeing or not. There is also plenty of XML editing. I think you will get a few laughs out of my next version
I just have to work out a problem with the desk clock app

[ MyTouch 4G Slide - Boot Manager Pro Compatibility ]
I'm not affiliated with Init 2 Winit Apps in any way. I'm just an average user aiming to help the community.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boot Manager Pro is an application that allows you to boot different ROMs easily (the App claims in can handle unlimited slots, as long as your SD Card supports it ). Kinda like Dual Booting Linux and Windows, two different operating systems on one computer. Boot Manager Pro is like that, you set up your default ROM through recovery and then you "Install" ROMs on separate slots, and then you boot them with a simple tap. This is perfect for Flashaholics and anyone who simply desires to test a ROM, no need to be constantly backing up and restoring different ROMs from nandroids.
This App is NOT free, you can get it from the Android Market for $2.99 [as of Feb 25, 2012]
Over the past few days I've been playing with this app, trying to get ROMs running on it. Some MyTouch 4G Slide ROMs are compatible with Boot Manager Pro, others aren't. This thread aims to list what ROMs work, and what ROMs don't work with this app. If you've tried any additional ROMs, please add a comment and let us know! Also! I recommend plenty of storage space. Each ROM would take about 1.9 GB off your SD Card. I recommend a 16GB Class 6 or 10 card. Whatever suits you best!
This App was developed by Init 2 Winit Apps. Credits and a Screen shot are attached.

Hopefully we can find a reason why these ROMs don't work. It can perhaps be the version/kernel of the Phone's ROM, who knows!
If anyone can get one of these ROMs working by Flashing them as the phone ROM from recovery, making a nandroid, and restoring the nandroid to a separate slot, please let us know!

Currently on pyr o ice 1.1.1, gonna update soon to 1.1.2. I believe I was able to flash the gallery and camera zip fixes. I plan on using it mainly for tv out, and if I want really good pictures. Day to day, camera ics and/or the sensation camera that came with pyr o ice is good enough.
If you want to keep all that stuff, just use 5.2. There isn't a whole lot of difference between the two.
On another note, I've been trying for like four hours to get miui.us to load in slot 2. Still no go. I have no clue how tbalden got it to load.

I used to have 5.2, well... Whatever, I'll give it a shot later! Pyroice does have a good Camera, but it's missing 1080p recording. I use Pyroice as my daily driver, and if I need to take an HD video I just switch quickly.
I loaded MIUI as my Phone ROM, But I've had no luck getting it on any slot. It gets stuck on the Splash screen. I asked tbalden for advice and he suggested the battery pull technique, I gave
up after 6 boots... Lol!
Same here, I don't know how he got it working. I'm not even all that interested in miui, but not being able to load is is annoying. Boot manager is really flaky sometimes.

I don't know if I'm doing it wrong or what, but this app is flaky for me. Can't get wildchild's ROM booting, and I really want to try it
I was able to boot CM7 selfkang via BootManager.
one thing i notices is when you first create a slot you have to make sure the screen dosnt go to sleep because if it dose it seems to stop creating the .img files and then they are not in the proper size they should be and that seems to cause issues at least for me i dont know if anyone else experienced this issues.
After the files were created successfully install CM7 in it worked perfectly for me.
Honestly, I've done everything right. This app is beta at best. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
