[APP] Let Me Android That For You - Android Apps and Games

You like "Let Me Google That For You" (www.lmgtfy.com), but you don't want to go to their site to generate links on your Android device:
Now there is Let Me Android That For You, it will generate lmgtfy link, bit.ly links (so people can't see where are you linking to) and copy them directly to your clipboard and you can directly share the link to Twitter, Facebook, Messages, Email and many more.
https://market.android.com/details?id=nl.pullesson.android.lmatfy
EDIT: Added QR code by Bonzo.
The app is freely available on the market and not associated with lmgtfy.

HaHa .. I really like the idea of LMGTFY, but this would be more awesome.
Unfortunately, the new "Noob" video will limit stupid questions, thus reducing the chance of using the app .
Thanks!

Haha, great idea
Will try it out

Awesome app.
Any chance you could update bit.ly for those with API/custom domains?

This is handy!
Saves devs the whole spiel. I've searched for three whole evenings to find the answer to my question. People must learn it is out there. Just can't do one search, do a control f through the first page and give up. this will definitely help create a beacon for those who need something to set their direction upon. Without the evil words.

Great App and fun to use......This is forever on my device I can gurantee u that!!!!!!!!!!!!

QR code for those who like it that way.

What do you mean by this? I used an old code of Bit.ly, which I made for another app. Didn't check the Bit.ly api again.

bit.ly allows applications to send your username/API key and subsequently, associate the shortened link to your bit.ly account for tracking/analytics.
https://code.google.com/p/bitly-api/wiki/ApiDocumentation#Authentication_and_Shared_Parameters
Additionally, if you have a custom domain, it'll use your own URL for shortened URLs instead of "bit.ly". e.g. my short links are "jp1.ca"
https://code.google.com/p/bitly-api/wiki/ApiDocumentation#/v3/bitly_pro_domain
Applications that connect to bit.ly typically ask for the user and API key.
e.g. TweetDeck

The java code I use uses my bit.ly api key.

Work in progress: LMATFY Home screen widget.
Edit:
Done, widget is added, but works like a shortcut. This is because their is no way to add a inputbox (EditText) to a widget. Will be updated when available.

Very nice!
Give cred to the real devs!!!

Ferrie goed!
I like it a lot, nice to annoy noobs (and other people ftm)

You can change the bit.ly userid and api key, just by pressing the menu button -> Change Bitly settings.
Have fun.

Now available on the market: v1.5.1
Change the LMGTFY options from the menu options and change it to your desired language or google app, like Dutch, French, Spanish, LMGTFY Apps, LMGTFY Finance, LMGTFY Maps and many more.
Have fun!

New AR App FriendsRadar

Hello people, i present you a new Augmented Reality App on the Android Market:
FriendsRadar is a mobile App with which you can find your friends* in the easiest way with the augmented reality view (AR). Think about that, how many times are you in a place trying to meet some friends but you can not locate them (Don't be afraid about localization, we considered your privacy concerns, therefore you can activate your GPS for few minutes then turn it off, you can select what friend can receive your position, etc., YOU have the control).
You also have the GoogleMaps view like GoogleLatitude to locate yourself and your friends, and a ListView where you can manage your 5 or 300 friends.
One click over the friends and you can chat with them, send them a SMS, EMAIL or call them too.
It works on all Android (1.6 Version and beyond) mobile devices that have an Internet connection and a GPS receiver.
*The App works at the moment with google accounts. In the future others will be supported, so rate it according to it, be fear please!
Do you have pics or a video of it in action? It sounds cool I'd just like to see how it works
How can I insert here a picture?
I think like because I'm a new user here i cant post outside links, so you can search for the FriendsRadar page on facebook, there are some pictures, or google it.

[APP] The best barcode scanner just got better

Hi,
No, we are not objective. No, we don't have the best UI, but our great engine just got much better, so why not try it?
The i-nigma barcode scanner for Android has a brand new engine under the hood, which is equal in performance to
its proven and acclaimed iPhone engine (also available for free in the App-Store). The new engine scans more
codes and does it faster. You can scan QR, Datamatrix, EAN and UPC in a flash and share the information with your
friends.
In order to get i-nigma on your Android just go to i-nigma dot mobi from your
mobile browser, or search for "i-nigma" in the Market. Alternatively if you already have a barcode scanner and want to try others, feel free to scan our avatar.
Cheers,
The i-nigma team
PS - You can also follow us on Facebook (search for "i-nigma"), where we post relevant i-nigma updates
Sorry, I won't try it unless the app ceases to access my contacts. A barcode reader should have nothing to do with contact data.

According to the permissions and Android Developers, this app can write to contacts, but not read contacts.

I don't mean to be rude but what exactly makes yours so good? I mean, Google Goggles can do all this and translate foreign languages. Can yours do that?

Same here, apps should CALL INTO the Contacts to send the info. They can certainly do this, I've seen apps do it. It doesn't require them to have direct access to the contacts themselves, they're just passing in information to some other app.

If I even want that functionality. Regardless, it can be done different ways which doesn't require such permissions.
Contacts and what makes us special
First of all I'd like to address the more pressing matter - permissions.
i-nigma has no need to read a user's contacts but does need permission to write it (write, not overwrite, mind you). In case a code containing a VCARD is scanned we need the user's permission to add it to the contact list. This is the only use i-nigma makes of this permission.
There is currently a debate regarding the option to read a contact and share it by showing it on the screen as QR (much faster than sending a text message), but as you can imagine, while 50% would like to see this happen, the other 50% doesn't want the extra READ_CONTACTS permission there at all.
Now back to our boasting. Google does an amazing job at...well...almost everything it touches, there's no doubt about it. i-nigma's special weapon has always been its scanning engine. Actually i-nigma was the first one around and its engine now occupies more than 90% of Japanese-made phones (pre-installed-engine not as part of i-nigma). Most if not all readers do a very good job at reading clear codes from a flat surface, but the difference appears when scanning hard-to-scan codes.
No we don't translate foreign languages. For that google translate does the trick, or goggles if you insist, btu we take pride in having a version that behaves the same on most platforms. While this is an Android forum, many of our users started with Java devices and moved to Balckberry, iPhone, Android, Symbian or Windows-mobile. All of them were very happy to see i-nigma remains the same. If they are happy - so are we
Last but not least try emailing [email protected] if you have a question regarding the app, a request or an idea, and see what happens.
I hope this answers most of your questions.
The i-nigma team
I must say that I love this app. Works quick and the option to share or go online is awesome!
Please make the next version for us screens. Some of the images are in fuzzy quality atm.
If you need a dutch translation of the app just pm me.

Thank you for your kind words PamelaGirl.
I don't think it's possible on stock. Maybe if you are root and are using a ROM allowing you to remap the soft/hard key.
I know you can register your app to be a provider for Google Search but I'll need to dig a little bit to see how it should be done.
I'm proud of DuckDroid but without a better Web API from duckduckgo, I don't think the app could be build to be a real search application.
Duckduckgo dev has published their new app yesterday. My advice is to try it.
Their app is much more complete and offer great feature on top of duckduckgo and their zero click api.
See here : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.duckduckgo.mobile.android
Regards.
Hello again SprigganMaster,
Thank you for the response.
Yes I am on a custom ROM and will try to figure this out.
Need to figure out how to remap the search key with only a single press and not a long press.
Coming from the iphone I wanted less Apple in my life, and now with this Android device I REALLY want even less google in my life!
Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work/vibes!

[APP][Free]Shared Shopping List

Hello
I wrote a shopping list application, in which i focused on a speed in
which you can create a shopping list and share(and update after that)
it with your friend. So i avoided any forms often frequented in this
type of applications, and came up with a very simple design. You would
just enter your items into the text field with some autocomplete,
adjust the amounts, then click sharing button, select your friend and
that's it.
I also use Google App Engine for server side to keep this free.
I wrote this a while ago, now i would like to improve it to add some
more features, so any feedback and ideas for improvement would be much
appreciated

I got this idea to many time ago, but was something like ( you should add it) a "social tasks" list, for example, there are some few tasks to do at home, you put this in the social to-do lists and everyone in the family could see the lists, and when the tasks are completed, they should be notified or the task deleted from the social list!!
Just watch the démo vidéo ans it looks really nice !

Really nice app, follows some feedback:
Try to implement the native ActionBar or use SherlockActionBar. Using just the native ActionBar will make your app incompatible with versions below 3.0. Using Sherlock your app will be compatible with 2.1 and above. This will make the app more integrated to the system.
Other changes you can make on this aspect is read the Design Guidelines (sorry I can't post links), learn some thing about good designs and look for other apps searching for inspiration.
Good! My housemates install this app too!

Hi @GammaL, great app!
Can you please add compatibility with Hebrew language? I mean, not a translation - an RTL support on the shopping list.
Please refer to the screenshot I added, to understand the problem.
You can see that the First item in the list is in English and is perfectly readable. The second item, is in Hebrew and automatically aligned to the right, so it's getting in line with the other buttons.
I use OurGroceries app. It is a pretty similar app and easy to use it would be worthwhile a look for feature set. That app also works on iOS and BB platform making it appealing to much wider audience. http://www.ourgroceries.com/

Agreed Holo please. http://developer.android.com/design/get-started/ui-overview.html
Also, maybe you might want to integrate Google Tasks or some more popular to do list manager, like Any.do or Toodeldo. That would make this app truly extraordinary.
Downloaded it but have not tried it yet, but I like the idea
Was wondering, how the data is transmitted from one phone to another ... is it over some server that you have setup?
What if other users end up with similar names? Would every Maryxx receive the list?
Would it be better if those big "- & +" are replaced with a simpler "< & >" or maybe even a manual entry box? Reason for a manual entry box is maybe the item required is 2.5kg or maybe 1.5 cartons or 1.5 litre of milk.
Thanks for your app
How do I login to a username or nickname that I've already created with this app? I downloaded it Friday but flashed a new rom Saturday, so now I can't use the same nickname I created Friday, and my wife is annoyed with me lol.

I had the same problem. This is the only weakness in an otherwise great app. The advice was to create a new new name and get the wife to share again. Was a but complex to achieve.

[APP] Assistant for Google Now Reminders

Easily add reminders to Google Now without having to speak up or typing queries.
We can add reminders to Google Now by typing or speaking something like "remind me to..." followed by the description and time. But if we have to add reminders again and again this becomes a hassle to type or speak long sentences like this. This is where this Assistant for Google Reminders comes to the rescue!
This Assistant helps you to input your reminders in a much friendlier and easy manner, then it makes the perfect query and opens the default Google Now where you will only need to press the blue tick icon and you will be done.
This saves you the hassle to perfectly speculate the query which Google would want to listen to. You can also add a home screen shortcut on your device if your launcher supports it.
The Assistant does not act as a reminders app, but rather as a mediator app between the users and the Google Now reminders. The reason it uses Google Now reminder mechanism is that Google Now is a product made by Google and hence updated and supported regularly. Plus you get all the benefits like sync, availability, etc.

Thanks! I downloaded the icon in a hurry, didn't give much thought to it. I made and published the app in only few hours
In your work on this, did you discover a way to create a shortcuts to the list of reminders? Both the google app and Inbox can interface with the reminders, but creating a direct shortcut has proven difficult.

I've looked, but havent been able to find one that works. Found one mention of the Google app having shortcuts on 7.1.1, another mention of the reminder creation confirmation screen sometimes offering to place a shortcut, but that's the extent of it.

If the app allows to create shortcuts, then someone might be able to get it. Not that it may happen soon, but it is there in the device, so it doesn't look entirely impossible.
