Hi everyone. Excellent place here. VERY helpful, and the information flows like wine!
I bought a at&t tilt, i have sim unlocked it, and installed about 4 different roms. I have ended up going back to 1.56.405.5 (radio 1.27.12.11) standar HTC rom version. I like it the best.
However, i am having a hard time figuring out info about the radio. The battery life doesnt seem to be the greatest. And my wifi signal strength is shockingly bad, or so it seems anyway.
Am i able to use a better radio with this rom? Can someone recommend something that will will work without any problems, but will be an actual improvement radio?
I've read the wiki, and have tried searching, but like a lot of other people, it almost overload of info. I would really appreciate it, im going out of town, and having this thing run at bettter performance would really make me happy.
I appreciate any recommendations!
ive been using the niki radio in my signature (downloadable in the wiki) in eastern us and have had no problems. letting everyone know where you are would help in recommending a radio
There are a whole bunch of radios, and there is no clear cut winner. As long as your radio is compatible with your rom, then you gotta test out of all the radios compatible with your rom, which one works the best.

to be honest dude radio performances vary by region; something that works great for me here in mclean, va USA probably might not work great for you. It really is just a lot of experimenting with different radios until you find one that gives you good reception and battery life. I believe that the stock htc rom is wm 6 so any wm6 radio will be compatible with the rom; just need to try, try, and try again to see what works best for you.
If you live around metro dc try the radio in my sig... but wait thats a windows mobile 6.1 radio so don't

My cellular reception is actually really nice! my main issue, is this: i live in a condo, and last night, i went out on my balcony. i was about 15 feet diagonally away from my linksys wrt54GL router, and i wasnt getting ANY wifi. the only thing seperating my phone and router was the wall.
gps signal seems great, with Garmin. Google maps however, i cant get to find a satellite to save my life!
So what everyone is saying is that noone really knows. Im in Miami using T-Mobile and i just installed HardSPL and it worked like a charm. Now i want to install a new rom and theres a bit too much info for me to untagle at this point. So far i gather that some rom's come with different and changable radio versions built in while others work with only 1 version. Now im curious.... how does one install and change these radio settings?
can i just download one and install it?
is there any thread or some sort of complied radio proformances by region? how do these radio versions differ by regional location? i have so many questions....

seems like everyone has got a radio question today but here is my answer to help u:
u need to flash a radio like u flash a rom. when u download a radio it has the customruu.exe w/ it. key is to remember one thing: wm6 roms work w/ wm6 radios and wm6.1 roms work w/ wm6.1 radio only. most roms will work with different radios unless the chef specifically has it matched to one radio only.
for more info plz read kaiser wiki.
p.s. while flashing radio ur phone has to be sync w/ pc

radios 1.27.xx.xx are the only that will be compatible with WM6.0 ROM. Newer 1.5x.xx.xx and 1.6x.xx.xx radios will cause the following issue:
You are going to lose multimedia sound completely: no ringtones, etc, etc.
In call sound will be likely still functional, but I don't belive that this is something you are looking forward to anyway.
I cannot recommend you the best radio for you ROM, but some would say that : 1.27.12.32 is the one.
I hope it helps.
I'm using dutty's rom WM6.1 WWE Rom. I havent changed the Radio yet. I've been using the ROM for about 2 months now and everything was working fine. But recently my phone won't ring. I can still make and receive calls though. Could the problem be because I haven't changed the Radio?
i cant post at the development section so i was wondering why are the radios so important to download the PG05IMG.ZIP if we already have 4gLTE???

They're upgraded firmware for the radios. HTC is trying to improve the efficiency of the radios. Less power draw and/or better signal, for example.
ok thanks...should i put the PG05MING.ZIP ON MY PHONE OR NOT???
Don't do it. TURN THE CAR AROUND. Upgrades are bad and you have to wait 5 minutes for it to flash. You could use that time to make a sandwich.
Unroot your phone.
Just my opinion, do what you feel is best for you.
Do what you want. I have the newest ones. I don't have 4G where I live so I can't really tell you how it works there.
I just installed this ROM but have been noticing bad radio signals and bad battery drain. I want to flash a radio but am unsure on which to install. I am an ATT user if that comes into account when considering the best radio. Thanks

The inspire only radio thread in the dev section has ready-to-flash radios known to work with this exact phone.
I don't know if CoreDroid recommends a specific radio, but if it does, it's undoubtedly in that radio thread.
It's must-read material if you want to start exploring different radios.
The stock OTA radio recently released (06.30_M) has given many people good results across a variety of different roms. Matching the appropriate RIL for the radio and the type of ROM you're running, is important. This is also covered in the thread.
Just be sure to read and understand fully the radio thread's post #1, and any of the linked material it points to. Also never hurts to scan through the comments as well...
I have an ATT Nexus S with stock radio (I902AUCKE1). I'm running CM-7.1.0-RC1-NS, with build number GRJ22.
99% of my reboots seem to correlate to radio crashes, and I end up with lots of radio dump files. I've read about non-ATT Nexus S owners updating to different versions of radio (KB3 sounds like the latest).
My question is should I be running a different radio? If so, where can I get a code-signed radio package for the ATT Nexus S?
Thanks!
bump
anyone have any experience with this? Should I just stick with stock radio?
Yeah KD3 Is Really Good. Using iit myself... go into development and scroll down til u see the radios thread.. should be 8 to 11 posts down

Okay so I was on a few different LTE devices for a while (Charge and Revo) , and I am about to be back on a Thunderbolt in a few days.
When I was originally on the Tbolt, it was April, we barely had a Gingerbread Leak and I believe MR2 had been leaking around.
My question to you guys is, what's the best root method currently (ADB, or Revolutionary?) and also....
What radio should I be on when I get the device to be able to enjoy most of the roms out there. I'm hoping to be able to enjoy some Gingerbread.
Sorry for the newbness as I have been a crack flasher with Odin and other Samsung stuff that I completely lost track of Tbolt development.

It's all in my thread linked in my sig. If you have any questions, post them there or PM me and I'll be happy to get you up to speed.
haha, what a coincidence, i just got done reading your entire thread.
So basically its the same as before.. all GB based roms are working on ANY MR2 radio.
Gotcha
What radio do you recommend? at the time when I left the Tbolt, MR2 was causing reboots on people.
Also, is the recovery that revolutionary comes with a decent one in terms of being able to perform backups, etc?

best radio is subjective.
some people for some reason still believe radios from 6 months ago are better than current ones.

The most recent CWM is good, but the early 5.x releases had some issues. Not sure what the newest one is. I'm still on 3.something... cuz it just works.
There's a lot of opinion in radios. Right now I'm using the RUU 1.70 CDMA radio with the RUU 2.11.605.3 LTE radio. Generally there's not a big difference. I'd say the 2.10 and newer radios, including the 1.70 radios, are probably the most popular at the moment.
I seem to get better download speeds with the 802 radio than the 906. Not sure about the lte one yet though. Is there a combined release of the 906 for cdma and lte
Running Team Name SoaB .73, using XDA premium

The radio could be anyone of the GB radios. Best bet is to take a few for a drive and see what works best for you. I use the 802 with good results. I used Revolutionary and everything was soooooo easy. The recovery in revolutionary is very easy too. The only big question is what ROM to use. I would suggest to try the one that lasts a long time (name omitted because of a spat between this forum and their Devs). I hope you can read beween the lines. And there's a host of AOSP ROM's too. Good luck and let us know what you choose.
