I want a new phone and will be getting one the next time T-Mobile has one of their "all phones free sales". I currently have the G2 and love it but want something with a FFC as well as good support for development like the G2 does. IE: I dont wanna buy a mytouch slide again thinking all the devs will get one ( and stick to it lol) So does anyone have any Ideas or links to websites that have upcoming T-mobile phone relaeses? Like I said I'm looking for the next phone that alot of Devs will be getting and sticking with as I love the support and ROMS/Kernals that are constantly coming out or at least being updated. Any Ideas?

Guys... Im in a huge dilemma. My contract ended and it's time for me to sign another phone contract. But I have to either go for HTC Desire HD (which is current best phone in the UK market) or wait for other better android phone (e.g. T-mobile mytouch HD which has got front camera).
Open for comments and suggestions. Thank you very much in advance

wait for nexus s or samsung flipside
If you like the phone, get it... basically if you say that you'll pass and wait for another phone coming out, once that phone comes out you'll hear about a more awesome phone coming out. Just like computer hardware, the cycle is endless.
Also the DesireHD is a pretty nice phone.
Im in the same boat as you. I decided to wait for nexus s, there are just to many good phones coming out at the end of year/begining next that will leave curent generation far behind
Wow.. I havent heard of Nexus S before. As long as any better phone release I will sign a contract for it =)
Dude you are the one that is going to be using the phone. You know what you are going to use the phone for. You know what features you want and what you do not want on your phone. You have access to the internet and can research current and upcoming phones just as easily as anyone else can.
My point here is that it's your phone, get what YOU want. I understand you are just trying to make conversation on the boards or whatever but at the end of the day we can't really help you here. We are not going to be using the phone and everyone of us uses our phone differently than the person beside us.
Get what YOU want and I promise that YOU will be happy with YOUR phone.
And please dont flame me in a response, I'm not trying to cut you down or anything here. I'm only trying to help you help your self man.
I understand what are u trying to say. But here we are, most of us like the best phone, regardless what we use it for, how we use it. Im just like other ppl, who are looking for upcoming yet unknown phone provided it must be better than the current best phone desire hd. That's my point. Dont ask ppl what u want and how u want to use it, this is modern city life, ppl wont just want a phone that can make phone calls, text, internet. We want all rounded best phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A best phone released is used to get out of time,so dont care too much about it!If you like it,go get it!
You should get what you want, but for a keyboard-less device you'd be crazy not to wait for the Nexus S. Just my humble opinion.
Agreed with the majority, I was this close to upgrading my contract with T-Mobile UK
I decided to wait after hearing about the next crop of dual core smartphones to hit the market early next year! Till then I have my beloved Hero and will be more than happy to use that till then!
I understand the cycle of "something newer every 6 months" but the Desire HD is the last hurrah for the current crop of smartphones running the single core snapdragon. Awesome phone but I shall wait till the dual cores start rolling out..
That's it. Spot on. But we will have to wait till febraury next year =(.
Btw are u sure it has a keypad?
Hi everyone. I just found out some information about my job and our cell phone providers. We were getting discounts when we have AT&T, but thats about to change. We will no longer get a discount on AT&T coverage, but will on T-Mobile, so Im switching. I currently have a Captivate and want to get another Android phone. Im so lost as to which one to get.
So Ive come to all of you for help. Its really between the Nexus S, G2 or MyTouch 4g. Can anyone please tell me which of these is the best? And just some extra info, the G2's physical keyboard is really a non deciding factor for me. Its nice, but not necessary.
Thanks in advance.
i would say nexus s because its the newest thing and it has a ffc (like the mt4g) and it also has a better camera the mt4g and g2 cameras dont live up to the hype that comes with the phone
The only thing that jumping to T-Mobile and the nexus s was a fear of having the same GPS issues as my captivate. I used a fix to improve GPS that was posted here, but I would rather not have to deal with something like that.

I think Nexus S is a smart choice at the moment, if you really want a latest android right now.

Android: G2 or MyTouch.
Nexus S is pretty meh and has some start limitations (i.e. no SD Card, No HD Video Recording, etc.).
MyTouch has both these and a FFC. I would expect it to get at least a Gingerbread update.
Same for the G2. It's *almost* a stock phone and it should be trivial for HTC to support this phone going forward. Ginger is almost guaranteed for this phone, and I wouldn't even rule out the next Android version, since it will be trivial for them to get the update up and running for this device.
If you want a WP7 device there is only one choice.
Then there is the HD2. I personally don't think it's that great a device but the people who like them are quite vicious about it. Perhaps you'd really get into it. It's a good dev phone.
Nexus S has no HD video? Wow, I didnt know that. Seems like it was a given since the other Galaxy S phones do.
Thanks for the info N8ter, that should make my decision a little easier.
I semi-posted about this before inside a different post, but I want to make this more general.
I currently have HTC Hero from Sprint, and I'm waiting out for the 3d Evo of course, like most people.. But what about those of you who do not really need all the hype that comes with it? I know it's packed with top of the line hardware, but do we really need it all?
I was considering the Nexus S which will probably (I assume...) will be cheaper than the EVO 3D when it comes out. I like the idea of "pure Google." What other phones are you guys waiting for, and why? What do you need out of your phone..?
I had a Nexus One from launch till 4 months ago and the developer support made me fall in love with Android.
I decided to test out WP7 with the hopes that it would develop into something great; however, I am immensely unsatisfied with the rate of development on this platform.
I would like to come back to Android and this phone is very appealing to my needs.
My question: Will the developer community heavily support this phone like they did with the Nexus One?
My 2 favorite things on Android were Cyanogenmod and Kang-o-rama. I would be incredibly happy if these items were available on this phone.
I'm sure this phone will have PLENTY of dev support. I know that cyanogen himself and a few others from teamdouche are getting the g2x also

Vanilla dual core means support.

This device will recieve a lot of support because it doesn't have a locked bootloader like the Sensation(not 100% on this yet till the time comes) which is coming out later this year. Plus it's a dual core phone...
Yea it seems lots of devs already said the G2x was their next phone. We already have root, but they are still working on getting the recovery working. Not that I have any lack of faith either, cause the phone just has a different partition table compared to the O2x (which they didn't expect).
I would say that once we get the recovery, roms will start pouring in.
For me Dev support is the deciding factor between the g2x , sgs2, and sensation.
From how it sounds, the g2x seems to have the lead in Dev interest. Are there any rumors of a new nexus which could steal the Dev spotlight?

It seems Samsung has learned the error of their ways with the whole Froyo debacle, they seem to be keeping their promish in reguards to the time frame for updates and such in the future, so the sgs2 might also be a good choice....
Samsung has burned it's bridge with me, I don't intend to go back in the near future unless the jump through a couple hoops...

I for one am coming to the g2x from my Nexus One for a combination of features (dual core, build quality, etc.) + developer support.
I've been following quite a few threads, etc to try to gauge developer support & it seems like the g2x will have *plenty* of it. I'd probably still be on the fence a bit if it wasn't for this.
As mentioned, I believe Cyanogen is getting a g2x & development has already begun on CM7. Paul Obrien & dj (kang-o-rama) both have Optimus 2X's so we'll hopefully be able to use/leverage their great work for the g2x.
If you had the G1 back in the day (like it was sooo long ago) , I think this is going to take us back close to those days. There will be a lot of support.
Just the fact that it will get CM7 means there well be lots of spin-offs and themes. Then there will be the TW team, Eugene and Barrak, and others and of course P. O'brien and the devs working on the O2.
Definitely if you're a dev on tmo you're gonna get this phone.

For me, it was the Tegra 2 with Nvidia backing. Samsung and HTC make phones, not games. I can see Nvidia pushing lots of devs over to optimizing games for the chipset.
And I don't know about the Super Amoled Plus but that weird blue hue has put me off of the later screens.
Plus Tegra 2 is noticeably faster then the new Orion in the SGS2 in 3D games.
While the Sensation is a pretty phone, I didn't see anything that peaked my interest.
Hi I am looking at getting a new phone currently I have a htc desire and it made me fall in love with android because with my desire I rooted and flashed custom roms.
Which phone would you suggest I go for that is either out at the min or is soon to be released.
It must be android in order to compete with my desire
Thanks for your opinions

I too am currently looking for an android phone.
I was pretty much sure I was going to get the Thunderbolt or Evo depending on if Verizon would match Sprint's current bonus minutes offer. But now I've been reading about other phones (LG G2x, EVO 3D coming soon...) and new developments such as dual core processors, etc... and I'm thinking maybe I should wait.
Depends what your budget is. Galaxy S II seems a favorite.
I think it'd be a good idea to think of what you want and then we could make some suggestions... I'm hoping for the Droid Pro II (eventually) but that's because I like keys and don't mind the smaller screen.

Since the OP hasn't been back I won't feel bad hijacking this thread.
Looks like now I'm deciding between the Galaxy S II and the Evo 3D.
Since the GS2 is going to be open source, does that mean we will probably be able to put HTC Sense 3.0 on the GS2? I really wanted an HTC and I like their UI but I think I'd rather have the better camera than 3D.
Is there another HTC phone that will compare with the GS2? Also, I read Samsung is bad about updating, but if I'm rooting and flashing a new ROM that is moot, right? The devs will update ROMS here and I can grab those, right?
It's really more phone than I think I need but I've had mine for almost a year past my contract expiring so I'm not someone who needs to replace my phone asap, I will probably live with new phone for 3-4 years. And I don't mind waiting a few more months for price drop and devs to do their thing. So I'd like to future proof it a little bit even if it costs a bit more right now, I think.
Or I get the Thunderbolt right now but it seems like I should go to dual processors and 1gb ram for future OS updates but that is kind of guessing on my part based on what I've been reading the past few days.
I'm going to use it mostly for phone, texts, email, music and internet browsing. Then once I learn more about the android apps I'd like to integrate it with my home AV system as much as possible. I'm coming from a dumbphone that I dropped my data plan for so it's just calls and texts and casual pic taking right now. Kind of excited to get a smartphone.
