Nexus s 4g, where does qualcomm come in? - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

There is a sticker on top of my phone, it says digital by qualcomm .... wondering where that comes in
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App

Qualcomm virtually invented mobile/digital. These stickers have been on devices since my first mobile, which was a qualcomm qcp-820, if i remember correctly.

From what I understand, i think all CDMA phones have to have that sticker. CDMA was originally developed by Qualcomm.

It takes a little more effort, but I like to peel it off.

Radio or one of the radio chipsets I would guess without researching it.

This has been known for a while .
I don't see this being a problem for very long especially on htc, considering that phones like the holiday will more then likely have international "brothers/sisters", that means there will be dev support worldwide working to break open a phones boot loader. I would assume the only reason it hasn't been done to the atrix, is because honestly the phone is a flop. Blur put a bad taste in everyones mouth and not alot of people want to mess with moto.
If you hit up other htc phone boards here on xda there are literally hundreds of developers working on htc phones. I have said it before where there is a will there is a way.
Atrix is no flop

Locked bootloaders do much harm to the phones' sales. I like the sense rom but the default stock one comes with a lot of bloat and poor battery performance. I flashed the dilligaf's V2 rom and my phone now flies. When the manufacturers cannot unleash the full potential of the phone, why the hell do they have to lock their bootloaders for?

HAHAHA! That's funny sh*t.
Anyways... If the manufacturers and Phone companies would actually leave the phones open, we wouldn't have this issue.
It wouldn't be too hard for them to do...build a recovery image right into the phone. If something screws up, they is a keypress sequence that would force install factory firmware. Bam...No more brick, and start over. I know I have reference the PSP in several other posts, but they did it right. Maybe the phone manufacturers should take a hint.
There is a PSP dev that goes by Dark_Alex... He created the "Despertar del Cementerio." This translates to "Wake the Dead." This was a service battery and memory stick combo that would literally UNBRICK your PSP. I actually have one, and have purposely killed the power during a firmware update to test it. And it works! Anyways, the point is...this is VERY possible with these phones, no one has done it yet tho.

Haha, I LOLed at work when I read this.
ATT seems to have something to do with this. If I hadn't been able to root my inspire I'd probably have returned it. Too much bloat. Bloated on a phone like that males it even worse (also I never liked MOTO)

Well if its not rootable and cannot access recovery, then I don't bother. I was walking thru fryys when I saw the inspire and knew I had to get it. Trading my sgs vibrant+$150 for a new inspire sounded great to me. But I didn't think if the bootloader was unlocked or not. Luckily,it was. I got Lucky on this one

NFC microSD...turn MT4G into NFC device

http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/01/netcom-shows-off-microsd-card-with-integrated-nfc-goodness-vide/
There's hope yet that we can turn our MT4G into NFC device. However, I do have Nexus S too, but day-to-day I love my MT4G with RoyalGinger 2.1. Great ROM, fabulous battery life.
To be honest by the time nfc becomes widely useful in our daily lives, I would have switched to the mytouch 6g or Htc "insert feeling here"...lol

I dunno. It just says in the article that it will only work with plastic slots.
It also says that the back can't be metal. which ours is as well

Good to see they are working on it...seems that GSM carriers could build this technology into the sim card itself.
I have seen quite a few people at work who put the small paypass key tags on the back of their phones, then cover it with a TPU case and use their phones as a payment device that way.

Samsung might look good on paper, but their quality really does suck and those fancy screens dont last long in regards to battery life.
The only advantage to samsung is the screen technology. Outside of that they sacrifice usabilty and quality for external asthetics.

Their quality sucks in regards to what? Their mobile processors that have been leading the pack since the Hummingbird? Or their NAND memory that every other manufacture wants for their device? Oh wait. I know. Its their cameras eveb though Engadget just said the GSII has a better camera than any other phone in history besides the N95.
The SGSII actually has longer battery life than any Android device so far. I can also tell you that eveb though the phones are light, it does not mean their not durable. My Vibrant lasted through several drops and over 50 house fires. In those fires it got wet most of the time. My Nexus One however only survived 4 fires before it broke due to water damage. The phone would still turn on but the touch screen wouldn't work and I could see some water under the display. In the end, Samsung uses plastic for a reason. Cell signal along with WiFi signal more readily pass through it than it does through metals.

[Q] Good/easy phone to port to MetroPCS

My friend has the Wildfire, which is nice, but 3.2" screen sucks. I need to get him a good phone. So I'm going to buy him one, but which is a good phone to start with and easy to port. I saw the sprint nexus and it looked a little difficult. The evo was a little easier. But im open to any carrier or phone, anyone have good experiences?
I am also interested in porting my phone to metro... I have TMobile gs2 not sure its possible since I have sim tech.

Looks pretty real to me, didn't know it had disabled nfc
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
highly doubt it's real since if it's there, HTC should've advertise it so they will get more praise for it.
What about the Samsung s2? That has NFC but not in the software.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
Probably not. NFC can't get through the metal back cover. Since it can't, I doubt HTC put any NFC chips in the device.

That's why the top and bottom covers are plastic. NFC could get out, just like wifi and cell does.
Why would they put NFC in the device and not advertise it ? They know what they put into the phone as much as id like it to be real it must be fake
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
Be nice if this is true. Not too bothered about it now though as NFC isn't really a big feature here in the UK (yet.....) and can't see it being that popular/"the norm" for at least another year.
It has happened in other phones as well i.e. my last android phone, the Samsung galaxy spica i5700, it had a FM radio chip and also multi-touch, both weren't enabled with stock samsung software and weren't advertised at all or listed in the specs. either, thankfully, one great developer got the multi-touch working superbly.

Have the tear downs not showed a NFC chip ?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda app-developers app
I have build an NFC Chip into my Computer to test the possibilities of NFC with my One X. So I thought, could it be that the One S also has an NFC Chip but disabled it so that the One X has an benefit against his little brother. Than I tried to port the NFC Drivers from the One X to the S and it works very well, but you can't disable it and there is no Android Beam yet. I try to cook an NFC enabled, RUU based Rom with working Android Beam. Download Link: Is coming soon!

Yup David111jr did have this up a few days ago....but the title of his thread didnt help to entice people to read :silly: When i showed this to a few other people, it was mentioned that it might be the cleaver use of Chrome to Phone. It would be awesome if it turned out to be true, but since people like to play nice tricks like this, we will have to wait and see. As for Leedroid, looking through his thread it looks like he might be busy with home things (after all awesome devs have home lives too ) . Hopefully a dev can either debunk or reproduce it. I will keep my fingers crossed for sure!!
Chrome to phone for sure. I call shenannigans.
