Can't send text messages - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
If i try to send a text message, i get a red triangle next to the message and an error message in the notification menu.
The problems started yesterday. I was running GRJ22 upgraded from GRI40. I tried to debug the error but had no luck. I full wiped my Nexus, reflashed GRI40 and upgraded again via OTA.
I'm on Baseband KD1, Stock 2.3.4, bootloader unlocked but not rooted and no CWM. Network Type ist GSM/CDMA auto (prl) .
Is this even a problem with the phone or should i contact my carrier? Everything else is working: Calls, 3G, BT and wifi. It don't look like a radio issue.
Please help.

HELP! Nexus can't connect to carrier after 2.3.6 OTA...

Hey guys, I decided to go back to stock 2.3.3 from cyanogen yesterday via recovery. Everything went fine and worked on the stock rom until I got the update from google to 2.3.6....
So then my signal bar started showing an X right after the update and the notification bar says Emergency Calls only. Im pretty sure the APN is right as I have re entered it multiple times. My cousins sim card also didnt work on my phone.
Did the 2.3.6 OTA bust my radio or something?
PS: I flashed my phone back to the Cyanogen recovery I've made before all this and it still didn't work.

[Q] Nexus S 4G 4.0.4 issues with radio

So I've been trying to upgrade my phones from a custom ROM to the official 4.0.4 releases on Nexus S 4G. So I flashed the IMM76D signed zip (flashable one) and got it working. A bit after this, I noticed that I wasn't getting SMS messages. I'm not going to bore you guys with a backstory, so I'm just going to say what I did.
I used "SMSC Updates" found on the Cyanogenmod Wiki to update my SMSC settings (tried all of the following numbers: 07918188561627F7, 07917140140000F0) after seeing it as a suggestion somewhere else about SMS issues. I re-flashed the radio (the new one that released with 4.0.4), and I still cannot get it to work.
I've tried several ROMs, too. Un-rooted, re-rooted, had problems with recovery (solved those, though), and re-rooted again. Also, attempting to use 4G settings crashes the phone.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what I should do? As far as I know, I'm able to send SMS, but not receive. Could this be a Sprint issue?
Thanks.

When you say new radio, do you mean LC1? I have had that radio for a week and all is good. If I were you I'd take a screenshot of my current setup and post it on here. I would try to, if you haven't already updating Prl and Profile and call Sprint and get them to reprovision your phone.
Hope you get it fixed soon. Sorry I couldn't be of more help..

Have you resolved your SMS issue?
My wife's S4G is doing the same thing after OTA: can't send, only receive SMS. MMS, on the other hand, are fine.
I've also tried the mentioned CM SMSC update, did not work; tried (*#*#72786#*#*) re-provision, but no luck.
Running out of ideas...
Just a follow up:
I installed Go_SMS, un-installed Handcent, and SMS started working!

Baseband version: Unknown

All of a sudden, after working fine for months, my radio (I believe it was UCKF1) quit. Tried rebooting, going into and out of Airplane Mode, still wouldn't connect. I hadn't flashed anything for several weeks, since I installed the Trinity Kernel.
Flashed UCKJ1, no luck. Flashed UCKF1 (version 2), no luck. Tried the "Lost 3G Connection" tweak in the Radio thread (which seems to be the same as the HSDPA Tweak.)
In About Phone, the Baseband Version shows as Unknown.
No APN shows up.
When I go into Network Operators, an error message comes up.
Any tips?
Phone: i9020a, running on Telus network
ROM: Bugless Beast, 2012-06-09, ICS 4.0.4
Build number: IMM76L
Kernel: Trinity 3.0.8-TNS-g3c5dd00
Try reverting to a Nandroid you have before you lost connection? Make sure your SIM isnt damaged, Flash the newest radio meant for ICS on the I9020A, if you flash this, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN I9020A http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=989490&stc=1&d=1333848754

Can't send SMS with any 4.4 ROM

Hey Everyone,
I know this has been an issue that has been going on for many years with Verizon Galaxy S3 users, but i want to get to the bottom of this. I cannot send texts on ANY 4.4 ROM that I have flashed.
I have it narrowed down to the fact that my SMSC number is showing "update error" for every 4.4 ROM that I have tried. When i revert back to my Alliance 4.3 ROM, I can send texts safely again. When I am on a 4.4 ROM I can only receive texts, but cannot send them.
I've tried every method in the book..... Entering the PDU formatted SMSC number, applying patches etc etc. Nothing is working.
PLEASE HELP.
What firmware (baseband) are you on?

MMS "message failed to send" when second text or later is attempted

Hey everyone,
This one has me stumped. About a month ago, while on a CM11 nightly, my texting and GPS started acting up. I tried to flash a different ROM from here but that led me to an "unknown" baseband. I ultimately ended up flashing the stock ROM found on this site was back on a 4.0.4. I used it for a few days and noticed that my 2nd text message to anyone would fail to send (as well as every message thereafter). I got frustrated with this so I flashed CM11 back on the phone. I still had this issue. I then flashed CleanROM 8.2 (last one) and I was still getting this behavior. This is with the MF1 firmware on the phone. I then decided to go back to CM 10.2.1 and sure enough, I'm STILL encountering this issue! I can send one message but the rest of them result in a "message failed to send" with an "Error code: -1" on the message details. I have a clean install on the phone now and would not hesitate to wipe again if anyone has any ideas or suggestions here. LTE is set under mobile networks. APN seems fine as well. Anyone else experience this behavior?
Talking to myself here but for anyone encountering this, you need to downgrade the firmware/baseband to MB1. I flashed that, wiped the phone, reinstalled AOSP and they appear to be working now.
My dialog with others is found here: Constantly losing reception/texts not going through!
