I wanted to exchange the phone because I frequently get dropped calls for no reasons. I'm not sure whether it may be the faulty phone or update, but other phones here work perfectly fine.
For unrooting the nexus s, I just wanted to make sure of the steps (9020t).
- wipe data/factory reset, dalvik in cwm
- Flash 2.3.4 stock GRJ22 in cwm
- reboot, lock oem
Is there anything I'm missing? Thanks!

I know there are other similar posts on XDA, but i recently rooted my friend's Captivate and flashed the Cyanogenmod-161 Nightly. I am running the same ROM on my Captivate and have had no problems at all, but on my friend's phone his SIM card is not recognized and in the about phone settings it says unknown for the baseband. I've looked around and have learned that its probably because something went wrong with the radio/modem, but I don't know how to fix this. I've tried flashing back to JF6, but I get the same issue. Step-by-step instructions and a link to where I can download the correct radio/modem would be awesome. Thanks.
Have you tried doing a full wipe then flashing a new rom (before any technical stuff come into play)?
Yes, first I manually deleted all of the folders on the SD card (not the root though) then I did a factory reset from the settings menu. Then from the clockwork recovery menu I wiped data/factory reset, wiped cache partition, and wiped Dalvik cache. After all that I flashed the latest Cyanogenmod nightly (164) and it still said unknown baseband. Is there a different way I need to be hard resetting the phone?
If I were to make a nandroid backup of my phone, and restore it on my friends phone, would that fix the problems?
I have a second xoom, rooted and rom'd, that I am selling on eBay. I'd like to wipe the little bit of personal data on it. How do I do that properly w/o loosing the rom I have. I think I need to use cwm?
Also, if the buyer wants the stock hc rom (its a 3g version), how would I do that properly?
Sorry, I forgot the title ...

Just do a wipe data/factory reset from the recovery menu. Rom /root should not be affected.
weird, that didn't seem to work. My Google acct is still there along with the few apps I d/l....
I did the factory reset from the recovery menu...3 times.
What about settings > backup and reset > factory data restore.....?
So, I tried cwm recovery again, the pic is what the xoom told me....how to proceed???

Ok, so I did the proceedure for unlocking the bootloader and that seems to have done the trick.
i found a few threads on this but they confuzed me so i am making one
i want to completely wipe my rooted note 10.1 and reset everything undoing the root making it the same as it was when it was brand new (i did a backup through clockwork recovery and i also used triangle away once i rooted it)
but i don't think a normal factory reset is enough i want to completely wipe it from data that cannot be retrieved
i found this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDIxMiwiY29tLmJvcnJhdHNlZ3VyIl0.
does it really work?
Hey guys. I just bought a Verizon Galaxy S3 from eBay. I rooted it, flashed a custom rom, bricked it, etc. Now I'm back to stock. I have a new SIM card but it's not activated yet. It will be activated in a couple days. I was going to flash Synergy Rom until I read that it does this thing when you flash their custom kernel; it auto picks what carrier your phone has and flashes the files accordingly. Since I don't have a carrier, I was wondering what would happen if I flashed it. I'm signed in on my gmail which I use on my original Galaxy S also. That one has T-Mobile. I'm a little worried that it will somehow know that my gmail is attached to T-Mobile and flash T-Mobile files. I know I could just use stock kernel and not go through all this, but I figured if the question hasn't been asked, then it should be asked.
One last thing. I was reading that I should wipe cache, dalvik, and (I could but I didn't have to)-wipe /system, before flashing a new rom.
I was wondering if I should wipe /system or if that would ruin the custom bootloader + SU, or custom bootchain, or anything else I did to my phone.
(I know I said I'm back at stock but then I went ahead and flashed the custom bootchain and "SU+Bootloader_FIXED.zip".)
So what is the question? Is your bootloader unlocked? Some ROMs mention to have this unlocked for whatever reason I'm unsure.
You don't need to be activate to flash (I didn't have sim interested when I flash synergy)
For a wipe I did the following.
Wipe cache partition
Wipe dalvik cache
Format /system
Format /data
Format cache

I guess basically what my question is, is what is inside "/system"?
And, should I wait to flash the custom kernel that comes with synergy rom until i have an activated SIM in my phone; so the auto checker in the kernel detects that I have verizon? Or does it not look at my SIM to determine that, rather at some other part of my phone?
I believe the OS is in /system and if you didn't wipe this you put a ROM on top of another ROM. Follow my procedure when you flash a fresh ROM.
Maybe someone can further explain your question about the auto checker because this is not something i've heard of.
Alright, so I just did what you said and started flashing Synergy Rom. One thing that I immediately noticed was, that it took longer to write to /system, which I'm guessing is good, because it actually had the chance to write all the files it needed.
Also, because I left the custom bootchain on there, it flashed the stock kernel while doing the rom installation and it went through OK. Which didn't happen the first time; probably because I flashed the stock bootchain and then the rom.
I'm booting into the phone now. For the first time in 3 days it's not stuck on the Samsung boot logo!
Thank you so much for that recommendation!!
It seems as if it's working
:good::good:

Hello everyone
I broke my phone so I took one of my friend's old Nexus 5 which was not working and I tried to make it work.
However, I'm a complete noob. The phone wasn't turning on, so I used Nexus Root Toolkit in order to flash Android 6.0.1 M4B30Z
I had a lot of troubles, got stuck in booting loops and I couldn't solve it, even by wiping the phone over and over. So I finaly decided to flash Pure Nexus Hammerhead, and the phone finaly turned on.
However, all the apps are crashing (I'm not talking about store apps, but the one on the phone. Let's say I want to go in my settings, then the "settings" app will crash.
Sometimes, apps don't crash but the phone just freezes.
I don't know what to do anymore, that's why I resquest your help. What should I do to have a working phone ?
Thanks
Anyone can help me and tell me what to try ?

Sounds like you need to clean flash, factory reset as well as wipe system in advanced wipe in twrp before flashing ROM and gapps (I recommend Beans gapps minimal, not the full package) Make sure to wipe caches after flashing. Also make sure you're flashing an up to date build of Pure Nexus https://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/development/rom-pure-nexus-substratum-t3477787

Hello,
So I went to TWRP and clicked "Wipe", checked everything and restarted. Now I only have the "Google" screen displaying, and I'm not sure what to do to solve that
