[Q] Videotron Canada XT720 ECLAIR 2.1 update 1

Hi,
i need to understant diffent technique to update rom and kind of rom (stock)
i have a Videotron Canada XT720 ECLAIR 2.1 update 1, stock (see picture)
Now, i already try some rom using "Open Recovery Nandroid Restore" with file boot, system IMG files.
I will like to try other rom like:
[ROM][11.09.01] CyanogenMod 6.3.0 - RC3 (2.2.1)
[ROM][11.09.14] CM7,iceandfire,HO!NO!,MIUI,CronosX on Motoroi(XT720)
(Ported CM7,iceandfire,HO!NO! and MIUI on Korean Motoroi(XT720))
[2011.09.10] Bravo2.2 v1.5 - Another XT720 ROM from China
But some of these rom need to use "Open Recovery UPDATE" or "RSD Lite" methode....
i dont want to used RSD Lite and flash another rom in my phone. Because i dosent have the sbf file from my original rom if i want to return stock rom.
so can i use open recovery update methode for CM6 and CM7 rom over my Stock Rom.
Thanks.
If you lost your original stock, don't worry about it. Simply use other stocks. I am with WIND mobile, and I've been using Singapore sbf.
For your problem, please search "Tutorial - Installing Dexter's Froyo on Milestone XT720" on YouTube, as I cannot post links as a new user.
Of course, you need to download all necessary files, which will be discussed in the video.
i already try this rom and some other rom also.
But my question is:
Can i update to this Rom without installing another sbf rom.
in other word, can i update to these rom on my stock eclair 2.2.1 Videotron Rom or i need to switch to singapoor rom before update to these rom?
[ROM][11.09.01] CyanogenMod 6.3.0 - RC3 (2.2.1)
[ROM][11.09.14] CM7,iceandfire,HO!NO!,MIUI,CronosX on Motoroi(XT720)
(Ported CM7,iceandfire,HO!NO! and MIUI on Korean Motoroi(XT720))
[2011.09.10] Bravo2.2 v1.5 - Another XT720 ROM from China
PS: I dont want to load other sbf rom for warranty purpose.
Yes you can but you will void your warranty if you do anything but what you got when you purchased the phone. My suggestion to find your SBF file (search for it) and then you always have a back up. When you flash a ROM you have to be rooted to do so, so bam! Void. Let's say that you flash something and then your power button breaks off. All you have to do is make a nandroid backup of your ROM you are on now, flash the correct SBF to return to stock, take your phone back (be sure to keep SD Card bc your backup wil be on there). They fix it, you re-root and restore your back up and you are right back where you were before the bunk. I have done this several times in the beginning before I found that I could fix almost all my own problems.
SBF = RSDlite
Custom ROMs = Open Recovery

Ignore the people that say to flash the Singapore ROM (or any other 2.1 ROM).
The only distinction that matters is 2.1-update1 or korean 2.2.1
Requires 2.1-update1 sbf:
[ROM][11.09.01] CyanogenMod 6.3.0 - RC3 (2.2.1)
[2011.09.10] Bravo2.2 v1.5 - Another XT720 ROM from China
Currently requires Korean 2.2.1 sbf:
[ROM][11.09.14] CM7,iceandfire,HO!NO!,MIUI,CronosX on Motoroi(XT720)
(Ported CM7,iceandfire,HO!NO! and MIUI on Korean Motoroi(XT720))
You may end up sbf-ing anyway if you can't boot and you also can't openrecovery. But you can probably get away with sbf-flashing the system partition only (leaving the rest untouched)
Thanks,
About SBF Files, i can't find the exact sbf files for my phone: (see picture in my first message)
My stock ROM :STR_U2_05.1F.1
Compatible SBF: US BrightPoint STR_U2_04.1E.1
i can only find compatible sbf. That why i avoid to flash the complete rom with other.
i doesnt know that i possible to flash only the system partition.
About warranty, can you confirm that even i able to restore a backup image from nandroid open recovery than i unroot the phone, the phone will still be out of warranty?
Also what is Milestone A853, is this what i have?
Hi
You sbf flash back to stock then warrenty then is good.
You can google the sbf file.
Cm6 you can update though open recovery.
Cm6 is stable.
Cm7 .
You must sbf flash korean 2.2.1 sbf update and if you flash this you may have do a reset to get it to boot up.
Sent from my XT720 using XDA Premium App
So it will never be warranty because i can't find the exact SBF Rom Version that i have when i buy this phone.
i see about rom that sensor is not compatible with our phone XT720.
Is this the case with this rom:
Currently requires Korean 2.2.1 sbf:
[ROM][11.09.14] CM7,iceandfire,HO!NO!,MIUI,CronosX on Motoroi(XT720)
(Ported CM7,iceandfire,HO!NO! and MIUI on Korean Motoroi(XT720))

That's true about all ROMs that use the Korean 2.2.1 SBF--sensors don't work on Milestone XT720.
About the warranty issue: you can make it very difficult for them to notice that anything has changed. If you have at least boot.img, system.img, cust.img, logo.img you can get your phone very close to videotron stock after flashing any 2.1-update1 sbf, if necessary. You will have to unroot and remove the openrecovery bootstrap and then do a factory reset, though (not too hard--there was a thread about this). It is possible to detect that things have changed, but many people have said that Motorola hasn't cared after they've done that. There are a few partitions we haven't figured out how to backup and flash--notably the bpsw and dev tree (but those are never modified by any of our ROMs).
Incidentally, I would be very interested to have copies of the videotron boot.img, system.img and cust.img.
The droid-developers.org wiki has information about how to try and get discover Motorola's sbf download links. You may also ask on #milestone-modding. I tried for the Wind sbf, but I got confused/stuck somewhere.
When i got this phone, i root the phone and install openrecovery.
Then i backup everything i can do with OpenRecovery.
i know with openrecovery we can't backup everything, but
it is possible with my first and original backup to create a videotron sbf file?

I don't think so because the signatures will be wrong. The bootloader verifies signatures in bootloader mode before flashing (but doesn't check all of them again at each reboot--just the boot and recovery are checked each boot). So, the phone would refuse to flash it from RSD Lite/sbf_flash. At least that is true of the system partition. Some partitions would work (boot for example) but you could get the same effect by restoring your nandroids in openrecovery. The process of rooting and installing openrecovery only modifies the system partition. There may be a way to fix the openrecovery bugs to extract the other partitions, but nobody's figured it out yet (or maybe they haven't tried--I've looked into it a little bit--the reason the nandroid backup/restore fails is because the partitions aren't exposed by the kernel, I think there's a kernel module that was built for Milestone A853 that we have to modify and rebuild to expose the other partitions, it just hardcodes the positions of the partitions which doesn't work well for switching between the Korean and non-Korean SBFs)

Flashing Retail Br ROM via RSD Error - Help!

Hey guys.. i am trying to flash BR full rom using RSD lite 6.1.4. But whenever i start flashing i get this error on RSD " Failed flashing process 13/21 flash devtree "devtree signed" -> phone returned failed . Now my phone is stuck in fastboot. Please help. This is non rooted phone with unlocked bootloader.
Resolved. Damnn.. i overlook unlocked bootloader only. So i unlocked my bootloader and flashed the ROM without any problem.
I had problems after root my device, so I decide reflash it.
First, I reflash with stock SBF Brazilian SBF 7.7.1Q-144, and everything is OK.
Then, I tryed to flash with the new SBF Brazilian 9.8.2Q-8-XT925 and RSDLite 6.0 (tried 6.1.5 too) but resulting a failure.
The error is: Failed flashing process. Unknown fastboot command .(getvar)
What this mean?
Is anyone with this problem too?
What can I do?
Thanks

Please remove getvar line from the xml file and try flashing again. btw i didn't liked the BR retail version.. reason is the bloatware. The most clean rom is Fido canada. Only problem is that its just ICS. Hopefully we will see Fido jelly bean in feb.

[Q] Installed ATT MB865 Fmz in a China ME865

Hi,
I've installed an ATT 4.0.4 firmware from sbf.android.org in a China Cellphone. It's work, but I'm not able to install any other ROM as CyanogenMod, 4.1.2 official leak, etc...
I've tried flash some custom roms and sbf rom in RSD Lite, but for both return the message: "Failed flashing process 6/21 flash "cdt.bin" phone returned fail ...".
I looked for for CDT.BIN and I don't conclude WTF that file is , or how to fix that.
Someone knows somethings about it?

You did a mistake flashing AT&T FXZ to non-AT&T phone. It has increased your cdt number, which can't be lowered now. Hence, you are stuck with AT&T ICS ROM. Though, you can root your phone, install BootMenu Manager from Play Store and then install CyanogenMod or any KEXEC based ROMs.
I flashed ATT firmware to my ME865, it worked fine for me. The official ROM for my ME kept failing with RSDlite.

[Q] failed OTA kitkat update

Hi guys,
I have a rooted xt925, and I'm having some problems to take the update. I've read that rooted phones can't update OTA, so I have removed the root, but I still can't update the phone. I've tried to do it via motorola device manager too, but it says that there's no updates to my phone. I've already searched how to solve this, but I'm very noob
Any suggestions?
Thanks
easiest way is to do a factory reset, keep in mind that will erase all your data then try update . You can also flash the OTA but that involves few more steps. Check
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2760840
Because you rooted, that modified the system partition. Removing root might work, but your best bet is to flash an SBF if one exists for the XT925. I don't have an XT925 (I have an XT926), so I have no idea if SBFs exist for XT925.
And before you ask, no. You cannot use and XT926 SBF to flash back to stock.
Oh, I did factory reset two or three times, and ota update continues to fail.
I will try to search more about SBF. And it's possible to flash a kitkat rom without have a kitkat bootloader?
For xt925,you flash European cee 4.1.2 jb, then take the update or flash it itself.

Help please! Moto G stuck in bootloader, any help is appreciated!

Hey All,
I have a Moto G 2013 (1st gen I believe). A while back, I wanted to install lollipop without it being available so I flashed the Brazil 5.0 ROM. Now, for some reason it won't boot and I got my phone stuck in bootloader. I can go to TWRP and the bootloader mode right now. I'm not sure what version it is, but I think its the XT1032 (non-lte for sure) and I've used it on Bell, Canada
.
I'm trying to follow a guide to restore back to stock but im not sure which model I should be downloading the firmware for. Can anyone help?
I'm using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219 and I tried a XT1032 ROM (Brazil) but when following the first command "mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin" didn't work. Should I just ignore this and move forward? I believe somewhere in the thread it said to ignore it but I'm not positive. Note: I dont want service, I want to use it as a glorified mp3 player for my car
Thanks in advance and any help is appreciated!
EDIT: I tried flashing a couple of roms in bootloader mode via adb from the aformentioned tutorial, but I keep getting errors when trying to flash the recovery, boot, partition, etc. Can anyone please help? Thanks.

It is strange that you can flash ROM in recovery but cant flash rec, my suggestion is checking your rec file, substitute with a Twrp rec and flash again. if success, you can try to flash a zip ROM.
Thankyou for the response! I appreciate it. Sorry, I should've been more clear. I was trying to flash official firmwares through bootloader, not roms. I tried flashing two different firmwares (XT1032, as per the barcode setting on my bootloader mode), and I keep getting errors when trying to flash using adb commands. It sends the files correctly but fails at writing them. I'm not sure what the issue is, but it may be because I was on Android 5 (lollipop) and I was trying an older firmware (i.e. older partition table). Currently trying a 5.0 firmware (brazil XT1032!) If anyone has any advice, please let me know! Thanks again!
