orig modem for bad signal? - Epic 4G Android Development

i am running syndicate rom and i'm having some crazy signal fluctuations....i was reading on androidcentral on others having this same issue and flashing to the eb13 modem solved the problem...
i want to try this but am concerned it may cause more bad than good (i know, prob not likely).....
where is the modem from syndicate rom so i can flash back if necessary?
thanks!

This is in the wrong section, questions about anything belong in Q&A.
The Modem is in the second post of the Syndicate Frozen thread in the directions for flashing.

also the modem isnt part of SRF, its just ec05..

No, and don't expect many to ever be there. ROM Manager's faulty CWM has caused so many problems that the recommended installation method for all ROMs here (and in fact currently the ONLY method) is a manual download followed by flashing with CWM, and it will likely stay that way. gtg465x is the only dev who made the mistake of putting his ROMs up on ROM Manager and it caused no end of stress and frustration for him due to all of the people who misflashed.
I'm a long time iphoner jailbreaker. I have read and read. I have probably been on ths forum more in the last 2 months than any other member and I'll stand behind that comment. Can you post a thread that explains this in detail lol. I'm old. I had 1.53 then went to 2.03 but I couldn't make a call so I'm back stock rooted.
Right now, if you look through the dev forum:
Three Froyo ROMs - Infused v1.x, Refuse, Bionix Infinity. All three are good solid high-quality ROMs. These all have HDMI support and solid data performance on AT&T.
One complete Gingerbread ROM - Infused v2.x - As you may be able to tell, since this is based on a Canadian firmware release it has... issues in terms of data performance on AT&T. It's been tough to find a good configuration that works in all AT&T areas - things that fix the situation for some users completely break others. I'm seriously beginning to think that until AT&T releases Gingerbread we should go with the original RIL and APN combo - they didn't achieve "awesome" performance for anyone but they also didn't achieve "broken" performance for anyone.
There is also the brand new Hellraiser package, which lets you flash i9000 ROMs. There are a few known issues (the first call you make or receive after installation has no audio but it works OK after that) but it's overall working fairly well.
Is there a thread that can explain this in detail.I'm back to 1.53 but don't feel comfortable with the procedure. I just want to learn. Not trying to be a noob.

Most ROMs have installation instructions. I suggest you read most of the first posts of ROM release threads, then read up on rooting techniques (SuperOneClick is the most common), then google ClockworkMod, then google Android ADB.

[Q] not much signal at all

i have an HTC desire, I am rooted and using MIUIUS 1.8.26.0 EN Bravo C
Since I have switched to MIUI (which I really like) my signal is all but dead. I tried going back to CM7 but the signal issue stays the same. not sure what the issue is. Radio?
Yup, flash a new radio. Remember to READ the instructions before you flash anything
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I belive that flashing a new modem will solve this problem. Also it won't hurt to flash latest MOD's build.

The 10 Commandments For The SGS4G Forum

This is just a quick list of things I thought would be helpful to Noobs/Newbs. They're not in any particular order. Also, sticky if need be or just leave as is. Sticky would be preferred though so Noobs/Newbs can see it right away. Anyway, here are what I feel should be the 10 Commandments for the SGS4G Forum. You may agree or you may not. Think what you will. If you feel anything should be added, PM me and I'll make the changes myself. Thank you.
#1 - Search The Forum Before Asking Questions.
Unless you like getting flamed by people when you don't search before asking.
#2 - DON'T USE ROM MANAGER ON SGS4G EVER!!!!!!
Unless you really like ODIN that much.
#3 - DON'T TRY TO FLASH ANY ROMS OUTSIDE OF THE SGS4G FORUM
Unless you wanted a nice brick instead of a phone.
#4 - Read the "[Guide] *NOOB's* guide to flashing " Thread In The General Section Before Trying To Flash Anything.
You'll eventually get pointed to that direction anyway if you don't read it. Trust me, we can tell when people don't.
#5 - Read The Instructions For The ROM Before Installing.
Unless you really like reflashing or reverting back to STOCK. HELLO ODIN AGAIN.
#6 - When You Have A Problem With A ROM, Be Descriptive About The Issue.
Believe it or not, the Devs here can't read minds nor can they see over your shoulder to see what your issue is on your phone. They're good, but not that good.
#7 - Be Thankful Towards Our Devs.
If you like a ROM, show your appreciation. If not, then keep your mouth shut and use a different ROM or better yet go back to STOCK. ONCE AGAIN, HELLO ODIN.
#8 - POST IN THE RIGHT SECTION!!!!
Prepare to get flamed if you don't.
#9 - When Flashing From Froyo To GB, Follow FBis251's "[ODIN+CWM] GB Ext4 Starter Pack (Sep 27)" Thread or use the updated Kies Mini to upgrade to official KJ6.
If not, then yet again, HELLO ODIN.
#10 - For The Love Of Our Forum, Don't Ask A Dev For An ETA!!!!!
You'll only get one answer if you do. WHEN IT'S DONE!!!
Going to add one more thing until we actually get it for our phone.
#11 - If You're Coming From Another Device, Don't Come In Here Thinking You Can Get CM7 For The SGS4G.
This goes along with #3 in a way. Its being worked on. Now that we have the kernel source for GB, we are now one step closer. So, until the devs figure everything out with the source to get CM7 working, IT CAN NOT BE INSTALLED!!!
Now if you're wondering, "What is ODIN?" well, there's a guide for that...
[GUIDE] Noobs guide to Odin to flash your SGS4G (Windows)
Like I said, feel free to PM me if you feel something should be added.
Not bad.. I'd also add the noob's guide to ODIN, and put up a link to the Bible thread to find every ROM, guide, Kernel, modem, etc that's been put up in the dev section.
Nice Work Thanks
Deserves a Sticky
Nice list, glad to see it stickied.....hopefully it will cut down on the repetitive questions that have been plaguing the threads lately.

Good thing no noobs are gonna read this. The newbs might since they're willing to learn, but not the noobs.
number 8 will never happen
Looks good +1

You're the best kind of new user, the one who reads and tries to keep informed. I'll be glad to help if you have any questions.
well im glad its not overlooked
So, I think "Do NOT necro threads" should be added here. I'm seeing that a lot recently. It's just ridiculous.
I think that is general forum etiquette, not much SGS4G specific.
Updated #9 since we now have an official GB Upgrade. Will be taking #11 off as soon as we get new kernel working to run CM7.
Nice laws. I made the rom manager mistake when I was a noob. Seemed like the easiest way to go, until my phone wouldn't boot.
has anyone figured out why rom manager cannot be used...and if so what are proposed solutions
hey guys could you please direct me to the link on how to totally start over fresh.. basically if i want to do a complete wipe and start over on my phone ive got the kj6 version.. i think its probably a good idea for me to familiarize myself with it now thanks..

Look up Raver's Odin KJ6 rom. It'll leave your phone as if you had just downloaded the Kies official update.
Thanks alot... I've just been putting particular things on my phone.. Checked out and installed a few roms... I've read on some of these threads about ghost roms and other issues just want to make sure ive got my bases covered.. Thanks again..

I know it's a little late, but updated #11 since we now have the kernel source for gb.
sent from within pure darkness.
Thanks for this thread. Took me over a week to wade through and find this starting point. I just rooted my phone and have been nervous about flashing a rom with all the different ways posted on how to go about it.

Lastest Radio for HTC Sensation

I'm using MIUI 1.11.18 and Bricked 1.6 beta1. Just wanting some help to find the various radios for this ROM and phone. I can't seem to find any threads on it.

Have you tried looking on your ROM's thread, often it is in the first post or two..
The radio you use should be customized for your specific location as people from all over the world use each ROM. Usually the ROM doesn't include a radio unless it specifically says that it does. Some ROMs will even recommend what radio to use in the first post, or what radio the developer tested the ROM on. At the end of the day you should try and see what radio and RIL work best for you. Look in the stickies for the development section to find the threads for future reference. Here they are so you can get started:
Radio Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178143
RIL Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1202867
I am in Las Vegas on T-Mobile and I use the radio from the 1.45 RUU and the corresponding 2.2.0169 RIL. I've tried newer/different ones that weren't specifically for TMOUS, and I ended up coming back to the stock radio and RIL because of great reception and good battery usage. I'm just one guy though. Try a few and see what works best for you and your area.
Hope this helps
and most importantly if your current radio works, don't change it
changing radio CAN cause a brick
"If it's not Broken, Don't fix It"
Thanks for all this info guys. Certainly don't want to brick the phone. Getting reasonable signal on Vodafone UK just wanted to see if it can be improved.

[Q] skyrocket roms, SAMSUNG-SGH-I727

I have a skyrocket SAMSUNG-SGH-I727, I have Adnroid version 2.3.6 , Baseband version I727UCKJ2, Kernal Version 2.6.35.14, Build number DJ-ICS-PLUS-2.0
The rom works ok but I am having call quality issues. I show 3 or 4 bars but EVERYONE I talk to says I sound gargly and I get texts returned saying failed to send. Some go some do not. Obviously the radio has issues. Is there a fix for this or should I flash a new rom? HELP!?!
Well the first thing you should do is go the the Skyrocket forums and ask your question there. You will be far more likely to find your answer there
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions &

Has it been doing that ever since you got it? If so you might want to try calling tech support and see if they can update your phone settings to ur local network. You could also try a custom rom to see if that might change your radio or something. There is an official ICS leak you might want to try. But there is other custom roms that are based of a stock skyrocket rom.
