if I wanted to look like I had an iPhone I would've bought an iPhone...
what advantage does this offer over Google voice?

LOL. As much as I'm an iPhone hater, you have to admit that most Adroid apps aren't even in the same league as far as user friendliness and quality graphics are concerned.
The Google Voice was randomly getting blocked by my carrier (Verizon), and it took half a day to get it resolved. I've also read reports of people on Sprint and AT&T having the same problem, which is why I started using the YouMail service.
Also, the GV app doesn't support Bluetooth, which is completely unbelievable in this day and age. And I like everything streamlined -- the fewer clicks the better. So I hate having to click on a message, only to have it open in a new window, then having to go back to the message list to open another message. And finally, I really wanted to have an option to call back the message sender and have the message get deleted immediately instead of having to re-open the Voicemail app later to delete it. No other apps had these options, and the developers basically said that such an option is useless. So, I made y own app that has all the options that I feel are necessary.

I hoped I could make it work with GV, but they don't have an open API, and I can't hook into it until they do.

well I was mainly joking about how similar the ui is to iPhone. I have never had any problems with GV but I can see why this could be useful for those who do.

I'd buy it if it worked with GV
I do like the interface much better.
$3.00 seems a little high. I love the idea, but the cost is a little prohibitive.
So no chance of lowering the cost?

Sorry, guys, I don't forsee lowering the price in the near future. But if I do, I'll definitely update this thread to let you know.
Senior member made sure he corrected me
but maybe he should look over the XDA rules again, if you forgot top shelf 10 here ya go :
11. Don’t post with the intention of selling something.
•Don’t use XDA to advertise your product or service. Proprietors of for-pay products or services, may use XDA to get feedback, provide beta access, or a free version of their product for XDA users and offer support, but not to post with the intention of selling. This includes promoting sites similar/substantially similar to XDA-Developers.com.
•Do not post press releases, announcements, links to trial software, or commercial services. unless you’re posting an exclusive release for XDA-Developers.com.
•Encouraging members to participate in forum activities on other phone related sites is prohibited.
•Off-site downloads are permitted if the site is non-commercial and does not require registration.
•Off-site downloads from sites requiring registration are NOT encouraged but may be permitted if the following conditions are met:
A) the site belongs to a member of XDA-Developers with at least 1500 posts and 2 years membership who actively maintains XDA-Developers' support thread(s) / posts, related to the download,
B) the site is a relatively small personal website without commercial advertising/links (i.e. not a competitor forum-based site with purposes and aims similar to those of XDA-Developers.com.)

I believe there is a free version, YouMail Visual Voice Mail
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.loadedbanana.android.youmail&feature=search_result
I've discovered this back when I was rockin a Blackberry Curve, and I still use it to this day.
My favorite feature is that YouMail can be set to greet your caller by name when they reach your voice mail.
"Hello Brittany. Ryan is not available..."
The regular youmail apparently is what most of us are using. This apparently is quite nice in that it does offer some very nice functionality. Only issue is the worth of the functions. Is it worth $3 to be able to listen to the vm on one page and auto delete after calling someone? For some, maybe, for me I keep the thread subscribed and regularly look at it in hopes of a three day sale.

I do have to give credit though. This apparently does look very nice and there was obviously work put into making it. Good job op! I hope you so very well with this and future apps!

Help Please: can't find app to create schedule for employees!

Salutations to Everyone!
Thanks for reading my thread and hopefully considering helping me.
I think it's extremely bizarre that I can't seem to find an app to make a simple schedule to display for employees.
All of the apps that I keep finding in the Play Store are tied to online services. A simple schedule is not that serious!
I could easily use Microsoft Excel, but my life's deeply entrenched with Android.
I would even purchase an app. I'm not sure if that's motive for someone to create a simple app? =)
Any help in this matter is greatly appreciated!
Best Regards,
David

If you're happy with a spreadsheet, why not use some "office" app suite? Or you could make a free cloud doc, like in Google docs.

I'm not happy with using just a spreadsheet or office documents.
I *could* use a spreadsheet, but I prefer something designed
specifically for what I need. It's been my experience using office apps
on Android are not the most reliable. Formats get screwy when crossing
devices and/or office programs.
Besides. I'm trying to get a good, simple solution for a friend of mine.
I'm helping her with her restaurant business.
I appreciate your reply though! =)

I'm still not clear on what it is you're looking for. If not a spreadsheet, then what? Something like Microsoft Access? Kind of like the Contacts app?

I'm looking for an app that's designed for creating and managing schedules for a small business?
Shift scheduling. Possibly with additional features.

[Q] Looking for a group bandwidth usage app

Hi,
I'm looking for an application, probably integrated with some sort of web based interface, to track my employees data usage. I don't want to track phones, spy into sms messages or web pages visited, but need to know the amount of data used, per device and a report compiling the whole thing. Why? The phone provider we use doesn't provide such tool (and in Brazil I'm not aware of one that does this for closed groups) and we need to make adjustments to our data plan in a way to avoid extra costs.
Thanks for you help.
Anyone?

[App] Jdownloader development Discussion

We are seeing increasing number of file hosting app for android. Jdownloader open source development supported many file hosting websites under one roof. Its based on java so platform independent.
Jdownloader also included auto captcha recognition and multi threading, resume etc
It devoids unnecessary advertisements by directly redirecting to actual file location. (Just like AppRedirect app)
Instead of 10 file hosting apps like Mega, Google drive etc that costs me 100 MB memory in my little device can we have one app for all file hosters?
Is it possible to port jdownloader to android?
Of late jdownloader also did not work for me in windows due to their upgrades. The nearest possible equivalent is IDM but it does not bypass advertising and captcha.
Note:
Sorry many of my threads look plain because am using XDA free app. I see no options to highlight certain portions. Request your views on thread subject.

[APP] SMB Security Camera for any android (4.0.4+) Beta testing

Hey guys, it's been a while!
XDA is the forum that made me grow as an IT enthusiast, this is why i decided to publish my app here before anywhere else.
I know it's not the next revolution in IT, but i feel like i have to repay XDA for all the help i received, so this is what i thought: i decided to open beta the app here for xda users, the app is free for a week (the maximum time that google let's you make a promotion), the beta will be limited to 1500 users, i think it will be more than enough for everybody.
Please, report any bugs, i tested the app with a OP6t connecting to a windows 10 share and a FreeNas share, everything worked fine but i don't have enough devices to test the app completely.
If you have any suggestion, feel free to mail me, in the about section of the app you'll find everything you need.
############## Description of the app ##############
The app make you connect to a smb share, using Hierynomus's library ( https://github.com/hierynomus/smbj ) and with the help of Jjoe64's library ( https://github.com/jjoe64/android-motion-detection ) (much credit to these developers!) the app let's you transform an unused android device ina security camera with safe backups on a nas in your local network. If you correctly map the ports on your router it should work even over internet, i can't test it out.
Permissions are requested at the first start of the app and checked on every run, it uses CAMERA, RECORD_AUDIO and INTERNET, camera for obvious reason, CAMERA and RECORD_AUDIO are accessed only if the camera preview is visible, otherwise is dormient, INTERNET is necessary for smb connection to work, the app does not contact any server outside the ip you specify manually. You can verify this using network analizyng softwares.
############## How to use ##############
It's very advised to connect the phone to a power source!
open the app and accept the permissions
go in settings (3 dots in upper irght corner)
set up username, password and port of your share, if you want you can customize your settings, they are well explained in the app.
go back to main screen and enter a valid ip address ( xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx )
click connect and enter a share name, the app will create a SMB_REC folder inside the share you specified
click on start service
place your phone where you want it to record, when somthing will move it will start recording, if nothing happens no wasted resources are produced.
############## Beta testing link ##############
Thank you guys here is the link!
