Chances are you already know what this is - but in case you don't, this is Android 2.3, Gingerbread, for the Samsung Epic 4G. This is Samsung/Sprint's ED12 build - it is not anywhere near final, but it is direct from Samsung/Sprint. We assure you, this is really Gingerbread. As you will see, this is still early in the development process. There are rough edges that Samsung/Sprint have not smoothed out unless in 15 days they have fixed them all.
This is RFS-only. There is no EXT4 support - believe me, we tried to hack it in there for you, but it's just not happening right now. Other devs are welcome to try, but we don't believe it's possible at this point. However, the kernel is rooted, and contains Busybox for your device usage pleasure.
How To InstallOdin (download) to stock EC05 (download official TAR), use the CWM2.5 one-click, wipe data/cache three times, and flash the ROM. If you wish to use the ED12 modem, you can flash that through Odin - however, we found it provided no gain, and just caused trouble with 3G data and VVM. The EC05 modem will work fine.

Known Bugs
None, as a result of the packaging process. Behavior is identical to stock. However, the stock package is known to have the following issues, all of which have been reproduced in testing:
- 4G non-functional
- GPS non-functional out of the box - WORKAROUND: get GPS Status from the Market; reset AGPS status (works with wireless networks off)
- Wake lag present
- Does not boot when plugged in and powered off, unplug to boot
- Temperature sensor readings are incorrect. You may see interrupted charging due to bad battery temp readings.
- Slide to unlock button sometimes 'sticks'
- Has Carrier IQ (dieplz)

FAQ
I flashed the ED12 modem and it sucks! I want to go back to the EC05 modem! Download this and Odin it.
Where's the TAR? Our source put his job at risk by giving this to us. Unfortunately, we cannot release the TAR untouched for this very reason.
WHERE'S THE %^#&ing TAR?!?! Did you not read the above? Die in a fire. You're not missing anything, trust us.
I'm getting FCs! Wipe data and reflash. Otherwise, this is fully stock, and comes with what any full-stock build will.
Why can't I flash this with CWM3? It's not compatible with EXT4, and as such the update-script is in Amend format to prevent you from using CWM3.
How do I flash the modem in Odin? Put your phone in Download mode by holding 1 on the keyboard and the power button until you get to a yellow triangle. Connect the phone to USB. Open Odin, load the PIT in PIT and the modem in PDA (or Phone - both work). Uncheck everything on the left except Auto Reboot. Click the big button.

!!!WARNING!!!
Very unlikely but battery reporting issues nullifys the proper heat detection system so battery can catostophically overheat and may explode. There are backups (i think), and it is unlilely anyways. But you risk it when flashing. K0nane, please post this as a precaution in the OP.

the vast majority of the nightlys have been stable, who in the world would even venture to begin thinking that an RC would be LESS stable than a nightly?
also, @jdwhite87; doesn't work for me ;(

Thank you all so much for this effort. It truly has paid off. I just flashed RC1 and it is running beautifully. This may not be most appropriate place for this but one thing I found is the percentage indicator is displaying (%d%%) instead of the actual percentage of battery. My battery is low and the phone is prompting 'Connect your charger' followed by this incorrect percentage.
Once again I just wanted to say I appreciate this work greatly.
I flashed this earlier! Its great so far. Been on build 33 for a week or so and had no issues, so this should be the same!

I am very pleased to announce that the Samsung Epic 4G SPH-D700 is now officially a CyanogenMod-supported device.
Team EpicCM's github repositories have been merged into CyanogenMod's.
The first official build from this merge, 7.2.0 RC0, is now available.
Borrowing from Decad3nce's preamble:
CyanogenMod is a free, community built distribution of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.
THIS IS NOT SAMSUNG TOUCHWIZ AND NEVER WILL BE. DO NOT ASK ABOUT IT IN THIS THREAD. THANK YOU.

This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Visit the CHANGELOG for a full list of changes and features!

- Upgrading from earlier CM7 or nightly build?

The current buglist:
WiFi Hotspot is broken. Third-party apps are known to work.
Charging notification LED does not light until full charge is reached
Video playback for certain encoders
Wimax
Other than those (relatively) minor bugs, this rom is nearing a somewhat completion.
New Changes
- Fixed brightness control (noobnl)
- WiFi appears to be stable. You may need to wipe old settings. (decad3nce, noobnl, uberpinguin)
- Official build
Changes:
- Fixed bad cached download mounts (noobnl)
- Fixed overlay for video encoding/decoding (decad3nce & noobnl)
- Fixed e911(mkasick)
- Fixed most of the dhcpd clusterfuck(a couple more issues left)
- Fixed init.d
- Fixed cache errors
- Fixed issues with logwrapper
- MTD/yaffs2
- Wifi is still screwy
- Stage1/Stage2 inits
- Updates from upstream
- Backup/Restore fixed
- Updated prebuilt modules
- 2.3.7
- Compiled kernel from source MAJOR THANKS to mkasick and Rodderik
- Fixed torch overlay
- Fixed MMS overlay
- Fixed incoming call routing
- Fixed mic feedback/whistling
- Adjusted APN for MMS - receiving works, sending fixed
- Fixed application notification LED based on a tip from DRockstar
- Fixed haptic feedback with a patch from jt1134
I recommend using the EI22 modem.
Please note flashing someone else's kernel may ruin your experience with this rom and I advise against it. This rom is a result of many tiring hours from Decad3nce, jt1134, Uberpinguin, nubecoder, mkasick, nullghost, dameon78, wispofattes, DRockstar, and many many other contributors.
Sweet!

WiMAX is on the list of things to work on, and may be supported in the future. Right now we don't have a timeframe, and can't promise that we'll actually get it working.
I'm going to assume that the "Synced with CM sources as of 10/21" is incorrect and just a copy and paste oversight from the other thread?

This is fantastic news! Downloading now!
Sorry if this is dumb, but I can't get it to flash. I downloaded the 104mb rom but when I go to flash it it fails after the MTD check. What am I doing wrong? Is there something I have to flash to convert over to MTD first?

The zip will automatically move you to MTD if you're not there already.
If you are not already on MTD, the flash takes a fairly long time and reboots at least once during the process.
Where is it failing for you?

All containers and codecs seem to be working, so there should be no reason for any apps to fail video playback.

Feedback...
this rom is great, stable, very low UI tearing, in call volume adjustment works :good:
but wifi tethering is not working.... we have a solution for that... thanks to Ace for that.... just replace 3 files hostapd, netd & wpa supplicant from any working rom and wifi tethering is working
Haven't tested GPS yet, but I guess it is also not working
hey... atrix2man...
All of sudden my contacts stopped working.... can't call anyone or receive one...

Hmm, I haven't had that issue from the first time I ported it. Try wiping data for contact storage, sign out of your google account, then reset and wipe the rom's cache in BMM.
Boot into the rom and then re-sign back into your google account and see if that (or any other similar combination) works.

What's working :
Everything
Known issues:
slider (no server to build fix)
Downloads :
Gapps only : https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1WiozpbigmZS-zL99ZkKww1ItSzfdGpx1?usp=sharing
Notes:
If it won't boot / bootloop, flash latest china firmware before flashing rom (always wipe cache, dalvik, system, vendor flash rom and format data)
F2FS not support for this build (due to tree rebase)
if this build won't boot, take boot.img and dtbo.img from other rom (but it should boot, already tested couple times)
if launcher crash, ping me ASAP

So far, it is actually pretty usable on its current state. I've used the NikGapps Basic for it.
Thank you for developing it.
Super looking forward to this development! Once more of the bugs are ironed out, I'll be looking at switching!
loipuru - you make some amazing ports!
I'm using this for 2 days, very stable ROM.
Thanks for your hard work!!!

Same
alright,
new update up
and count it as initial release (because a lot of things got fixed)
Thanks man , you are the most handsome
Giving this a try on mine. Looks really good so far! Just kinda don't understand why they limited the color selection so much if you don't have it sample from your wallpaper (I have live wallpaper so that won't work). Everything seems to work great, though, I even have it passing SafetyNet.
Is this good for a primary device or at the moment it's better to stay with android 11? (I mean even on pixel devices android 12 is a mess, from what I read - no direct experience)

depending on your usage, but battery life is bit worse than a11 for sure
also a11 overall menu is looking better than 12, but 12 you'll get like dynamic colors (wait for dotos, there're working to bring a11 qs into a12)
soc is up around 2 - 3hrs when full gaming, it's fine by me
Thank you, guys, I tried many roms, finally decide to using this, it's best
source update is up, but update will be slower than i expected (source sync error 3 times). gonna wait until it buildable on ci
