flash 10.1 on 2.2

Knowing how most custom 2.1 ROMs have it installed and working, why is it that we don't have one for 2.2?
I saved the package in Titanium Backup from 2.1. I haven't tried it but if I restore it while in 2.2 (cm6) I imagine it would not work?
Just curious because 2.1 was never built for flash yet somehow it's available.

I'm not sure so don't take this to heart, but i think it has something to do with the Hero never officially getting FroYo.
Maybe the can't just port it over, or dont have a version for 2.2?
Idk, just my 2 cents.
It's my understanding our phones architecture does not support flash.
This has been answered a bazillion times.
Adobe wrote it for a different cpu architecture, ours is not compatible.
No, flash lite won't work either (yet) until someone finds a way to port it.

Grr beat me to it.
Then can I be the first to say this belongs under q&a.
I'm pretty sure the only 2.1 ROM that has 10.1 on it is NFX's.
There's actually a few sense roms with full 10.1, and every 2.1 sense rom has flash lite. Papa smurf had a couple with full flash I think. But I gotta tell ya, surfing the web with flash on really slows ya down.
Oh, and MMFCL!

This doesn't answer the question, 10.1 works on sense roms on the hero. Why will it work on sense and not cm6? what is the lacking component? Your answer says its the phone hardware, but that cant be correct cause a sense rom uses that same hardware.
So can someone who know the answer please clarify? what does sense have that stock android does not that allows it to run 10.1 flash?
Just curious to know
yxplayer4 v1.5.6 offers a streaming flash browser...which is what i use to view flash videos on 2.2 based ROMS. No issues, works w/ most sites. So if you're looking solely for that purpose, google the apk and enjoy.
+1, 2, 3, 4, etc. on what everyone else has already contributed re: viewing the rest of the flash content on 2.2.
Flash 10.1 is written for ARMv7 processors, right? We have ARMv6 processors, so there's no way of it fully working, if at all.

That's correct.
Ok if full flash is for arm7 devices and not arm6 then why is there full flash for 2.1 roms for the hero even though our device is arm6

Let's keep it friendly guys, we're all here to help. Also, there is not full flash for 2.1... it's just a modified version of sense flash lite.

OK, so in that case, the full answer is this:
No, 2.1 does not have full 10.1 flash support for cdma hero. The 10.1 flash for 2.1 is just modified to fit our phones so that it runs some flash content but not all.
So here is the follow up question:
Will the 10.1 apk work on 2.1 as it did on 2.1? If not, can the full 10.1 for 2.2 be modified to fit our phone hardware to at least run some flash content just as 2.1 apk did?
I'll check the flash player apk someone suggested but I was more interested in flash in the browser. Seems like it worked on 2.1.

[Q] ROM Porting

I noticed that I can download .zips of ROM sourcecode off http://developer.htc.com/
Can't I just, for example, take an Evo ROM and flash it on my Incredible?

Desire HD ROMs

I've found that you can flash some Desire HD ROMs to the inspire if you flash a compatible kernel over top of it.
I'm currently running Android Revolution HD on my Inspire (so far the only one I've tried, I haven't had any issues yet).
Here are the steps I used to do this:
- Copy ROM and Kernel to SDCard
- reboot into recovery
- Make a nandroid backup from Clockwork Recovery (I always make a backup just in case I need to go back)
- wipe data/cache in Clockwork
- flash ROM from Clockwork
- flash kernel from Clockwork
I used a Telus Desire HD kernel I found on the forums (same as Inspire) Sound and everything works.
I'll also attach the kernel I used for everyone to try it out.
Please report and other ROMs you have success or failure with so everyone can know what works.
EDIT: This isn't really needed anymore since the new source and kernels coming out support the Inspire. Just find a ROM that has the 1.72 kernel source and flash it, it should work as is.
I'm using Revolution HD that mike1986. posted in this this forum with no issues.
does CM7 work? I am scared to mess until I get an easy way to revert to stock like odin back to stock on the captivate. If someone knows an easy fail safe measure like the download mode on the captivate I would love to know then i will try anything!

Tony710 - genius move, buddy. I have had my goldcard ready, but have been waiting for this ROM to become available ( heard this is so much faster and more power efficient than stock).
Needless to say, i'll be rooting and flashing this tomorrow.
Thanks again.
Not cyanogen. Goto HTC Desire HD Development forum, and grab the Android Revolution ROM.
Flashed leedroid v.2 with the telus rom and it works just fine. kinda wish i had the leedroid rom because it had a %20 vol increase. but i now have a 1.22ghz OC!!!!! Can anyone make a increased volume kernel. i've noticed that ours is blocked to 73% of the maxium

[KERNEL] Stock Inspire 4G Kernel

Here's the stock Inspire 4G Kernel You can flash any DesireHD ROM, then flash this on top of the ROM to enable audio.
Basically, I just took the Telus kernel that's floating around here, and replaced the bcm4329.ko and boot.img with the ones from the stock ROM.
Happy flashing!
This is flashable with any desire hd? Does it have clean sound?

You should be able to flash this kernel with any DesireHD ROM. The sound quality is almost the same as the Telus kernel from what I remember.
I think the main problem with sound quality is compatibility between the ROM and the Kernel. Something is missing in the DHD ROMs that slightly degrades sound quality when used on an Inspire 4G. Hopefully someone figures this out soon
Oh ok. So what is gained from this kernel over the TELUS?

Honestly, I have no clue. Some people have said the Telus kernel is unstable for one reason or another so I figured why not just rip the kernel out of the stock ROM It might or might not be more stable
I haven't noticed any instability.
Has anyone tried this with cm7?

[REQUEST] 1.80 Inspire based ROM

AFAIK, the 1.7x based and 1.84 ROMs aren't the stock AT&T ROM for the US Inspire 4G. The 1.80 ROM is the stock AT&T ROM for the US. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Can someone cook up a US AT&T stock-based ROM with working GPS, Wi-Fi, tethering, HSUPA, Sideloading, and a nice performance boost via overclocking? Android Rev runs off of the 1.72 ROM, and Coredroid runs off of 1.84 which aren't based on the stock AT&T ROM and this cause audio issues. Though there is an ongoing effort to fix the audio for the Inspire 4G running these ROMs, wouldn't it be easier to just base a ROM on the 1.80 AT&T ROM and mod it to what we want?
It would be awesome if mike could cook based on the stock Rom for inspire.

Nice! I went through both root processes....yours and att1's to get used to them. I feel pretty confident in my abilities now to mess with it all. I would have loved to see your ROM with OC added - maybe 1.2GHz and 1.5 or 1.6GHz builds.
But don't take on too much at once man, you don't want to overload yourself. Set a pace and stick to it.
Maybe I will do it

Hey bubby I love the work you've been doing for the inspire. All of it is much appreciated by this community. I came over from a captivate and was worried about the dev situation for the inspire. As you don't have your own inspire is love to help test anything you come up. Shoot me a PM if you ever need a tester. I'm not too worried about bricking my device lol
That would be nice. I've been using stock rooted rom because of this. With stock rooted I have no issues. I just removed the bloat myself with root explorer. A custom 1.80 based rom would be nice.
