I am at 30% battery. I have made 4 minutes of voice calls today. The settings app shows voice calls taking 10% battery. Is this normal? Is the settings app battery use pane accurate?
I agree. I made four calls totaling 25 minutesone after the other. I went from a full charge to 80%. That's only 2 1/2 hours talk time.

I talked for 90 mins straight and my battery went from 98 to 72.
Some ppl have been saying the issue is with manufacture date but mine is from july 5th so dont think thats the issue. I did notice battery life get better after one week of usage.
Not sure if this is your issue, but the weaker your signal strength is the more battery you will use talking.
Both the signal strength and how you have been charging your phone will impact battery life.
If you have not been allowing your phone to reach near zero percent left and you charge it...or if you leave it plugged in unnecessarily then the battery hasn't had a chance to know what a full charge is.
And as discussed in other posts...the weaker the signal...the quicker the battery will drain.
Just some ideas.....

I have completely drained the battery 3 times and charged it to full. That should be enough to break in a lithium ion battery. I don't get great signal here. I get two to three bars. That isn't a good excuse for the battery drain I'm experiencing though. No other smart phone I have owned has used this much battery power for voice calls.
It seems like everything I do causes the battery to drain excessively. Just posting on her I lose 3to4%

I was draining my battery last night, so when the battery hit 5% I made a call to my wife's phone and set it down.. 25minutes later the phone finally died.. So needless to say, going by that time alone that is pretty good talk time... I was also trying to speed up the battery drain and doing some web browsing and market browsing as well..

She talked to herself for 25 minutes? Sounds about right.
Hello Xda community!
I'm not sure why, but recently my phone seems to be draining battery life quite quickly over night.
The really weird thing is this time, my phone was on the charger.
I put my phone on the charger before I went to bed last night, and the battery was at 65%.
When I got up the next morning, my phone was off for some reason, and I find that I only have 3% battery left.
Not sure if my battery is lying to me, but I have been running off the supposed "3%" battery life for a good 30 minutes now.
Either my battery is glitched or something else.
Any feedback is appreciated.

have you rebooted or done a battery pull yet?

First, use zeppelinrox's Die Hard Battery Calibrator, and then after you finish the steps it gives you an option to view what is taking up battery life, uninstall any apps that cause wake locks. Also, you're going to want to freeze the default android gallery and get a 3rd party Gallery (I recommend quickpic.) As the 3D gallery can cause huge battery drain.
Hi, I was experiencing some Terrible battery drains , so I factory reset the phone in hopes of fixing the issue. Running the bare minimum apps, and I'm.still getting 1% drain every 3 minutes. Specially when I'm merely listening to music. on the 1 hour commute this morning I lost 15% battery.
I'm on stock rogers 1.94 firmware.
I ran carat for the past month before the reset and it couldn't identify the cause.
tried to unlock bootloader in order to flash a Rom, but got confused and gave up haha
can you guys help me out,
thanks
Are you listening to the music in the cloud (Pandora, spotify etc)? Better battery stats is a great way to see what's going on. Do you have facebook/twitter set to push all updates or auto refresh in the background?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Battery readings right after a factory reset are not representative as the battery meter is now not calibrated. Charge the phone to 100%, leave it on the charger for a while to ensure any topoff charge. Then drain the battery to 10-20%, repeat a couple times to calibrate the battery meter. Then see if you are still getting fast battery drain.

Hey, I turned off all sync except for contacts and calendar. Disabled Twitter completely and turned off facebook refreshing.

Will it be possible the drain relates to kernel?

Its always possible. Folks on here like to swap kernels, in hope of increasing battery life (even aside from governers and underclocking) But I've personally never noticed a huge change in battery drain just from swapping kernels. I'd try a different radio first. But the OP is still stock, so they might be looking for less invasive solutions.
Could some Rogers bloatware be causing some of the drain? I don't know what they put in there. But AT&T bloatware has often been blamed for big background data use and therefore battery drain.
Anybody experiencing abnormal heating and bad battery life? My battery life drop from 100% to 89% in 10mins and all I was doing was listening to music..
The phone get really hot when I was downloading a couple of apps on the play store

Mine dropped a decent amount for a long period of the day, but something was off. The phone was awake when the screen was off for like 5 hours. I noticed it when I went out to the store, and was testing out google music. After like 1 song it said google music was the most draining app, and had a long keep awake time.
After I was done using google music, it slept normally, and even gained a couple % charge by itself.. so it was a misbehaving app for me.
Turn google now off if you are one of those that has no chargers around during 18 hours period.

It is doubtful that Google Now is the misbehaving app in this situation. Because 4.4 is so new, there are bound to be apps that are buggy and hurting battery life.
When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the OnePlus 5's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
I am not too pleased about idle battery drain.
Overnight, about 8h it consumes about 3%-5%. Sometimes more than 10%, if the device doesn't go in deep sleep for whatever reason..
If commute, it takes more battery (maybe sensors, switch to mobile data, etc).
About 20% in 9hours. wifi most of the time with about 1h hour on mobile data. And movement in pocket about 20-30mins.
My experience with idle drain has been good overall. Getting around 0.5% per hr
My idle drain is horrendous. I'm getting around 20% drain over night (7h sleep) with nothing enabled but WiFi. And that's with Greenify. I'm thinking of rooting and flashing the EX Kernel, but wanted to wait for an obviously outstanding major update before doing so.

Android System, Phone Services + Google Services, but only if WiFi/data is on. If they are off the battery life is perfect.

Battery was good until yesterday, 8hrs SOT circa. Suddenly battery starts draining and can I barely reach 2,30 SOT. Any idea? No apps showed in battery page, the only app I downloaded yesterday was Textra SMS (Beta), but it's very strange that it can drains so much.

For me Chrome was a big culprit for battery drain. Try to delete the cache and the storage of the app. You can as well disable and it and re enable it. That should be enough. Anyway, Chrome is a battery hog. I am thinking about switching to Opera or Firefox. Any recommendation for browsers?
I use Firefox with the add-on 'Dark Background and Light Text'. I have it set to turn the background of all pages to true black.
2% over night (7 hours) pretty pleased. But it was even better on OP3 when the drain over night was 0-1%
I'm on RR with no GAPPS and lost about 1.5% in about 8.5hrs of not being used (sleep + getting ready in the AM)
I have TASKER, and have set airplane mode to come on 8pm - 3am.
Currently getting roughly 2-3% drain in that "airplane mode" time

What the? Do you have gestures enabled (eg: double tap to wake)?
In my opinion it consumes too much.. one time i got about 3% drain in about 8-9h idle with wifi on and no commute.
That's why i hate android idle drain. A never-ending issue.
SOT only 34 mins, 1h mobile data, the rest on wifi.
I've disabled gestures, location history, no google fit, etc etc
Not bad here. About .3% per hour overnight. So about 2% overnight. That's on 4G as I rarely ever have my phone on WiFi. I also have email at to push (2 accounts) and I usually turn off the sync stuff in my Google account. Things like app data, calendar, contacts and the rest. I just sync when I make changes like adding a contract I then toggle the contacts on then off kind of thing. No need to let it sync all day and night for nothing imo.
I just have that drain when location is set to "high accuracy". When its set to "battery saving" everthing seems fine.
I don't know what's wrong with my device/apps. Several times now i had a standby drain in around 7 hours of 30%+. I didn't plug my phone in overnight because of Dash charging, when I went to bed, the battery was at 37%. The next morning I overslept massively and completely missed my shift because my battery died over night. This is with airplane mode on during 75% of the night. The highest drain in battery settings was displayed for "Android System" with around 12% or so, but that was with the last day counted in. I feel like the battery drain stats in settings are completely unreliable...
Except from that I get normal battery life during the day though, although during the first few days standby drain was higher than screen on drain...

Yeah man you need to download accubattery or something to monitor the drain. That's ridiculous. And yeah I've been kinda confused about the stock battery stats as well. It seems to tell you nothing.
I have noticed a lot more battery drain since the 911 update a few days ago. I was getting 7ish sot now I'm under 5hrs. I'll bet I'm not the only one who noticed it though. It'll be fixed don't worry.

I had AccuBattery installed at first but it didn't give me any meaningful insights so I uninstalled it a few weeks later.
I normally only get around 3 hours of SOT, but I'm not into mobile gaming or YouTube so that is normal...
I notice significant drain in idle after the 4.5.6 update last week. Android system seems to be the culprit, but not sure what's process under this is actually causing the problem.
All radios on, and 2 mail accounts syncing.
