. hey guys please sign that petition. Htc's ceo lied and said no more locked bootloaders back in may well the vivid has a locked bootloader. Lets please support our android brothers . http://www.groubal.com/htc-vivid-has-locked-bootloader-contrary-to-statements-by-the-company/#sign
I signed it.
That was one of the main reasons why I went with Galaxy Skyrocket vs Vivid.

I believe Moto also said no more locked bootloaders. And they've kept their word. Apparently operators can still lock the bootloaders if they choose, though - maybe that's what happened with HTC?

Wont HTC unlock the bootloader with their online service? I'm sure it'll take forever for them to post it up but they should eventually. Maybe I'm confused. Either way I hate locked bootloaders.

A cousin of mines wants to trade his rezound for a Gnex... If anyone is interested and is living in the los Angeles area.... he can be contacted at
[email protected]
I tell him he is crazy for doing so (proud owner of a rezound)....
If interested.... Email him... I unlocked it and rooted for him... absolutely nothing wrong with it... 10/10

Well first of all you are in the wrong section...there is a marketplace. Second, the Rezound sells for about $400 mint while the nexus is going for $600..soooo good luck with that!
Also...no, you did not unlock his phone.

haha, and exactly where do you put the SIM card on this unlocked rezound? Unlocked and an unlocked bootloader have two different meanings around here. As for the last part of your comment...well...if the shoe fits, huh?

Perhaps instead of making an.ass out of yourself you should have clarified. Around here most know.the difference between an unlocked phone and bootloader and i'm sure most peoples first reaction was an unlocked phone, not the bootloader.

Is it possible to unlock the network on the phone? And also to S-Off+Root ? I'd like to buy it at that low price
as of yet there is no sim unlock tool nor is there an S-OFF tool, There is HTCDev which will unlock the bootloader to allow you to flash ROMS and ROOT and CWM Recovery, But thats all your getting for now...
give it 1 - 2 weeks the development will skyrocket.
So you think that they could do that?
Of course !! have a look around the forums, There is NOTHING these devs cant do..
hell im running ICS on a 2 year old SGS lol and it works flawlessly...
you'll be suprised whats about to come
I hope so, found some crazy prices on the internet for the T-mobile one s, but we have no T-mobile here..
The low prices on the One S are on a 2-year contract. The phone itself is $600 off contract.
But there will be root and S-Off soon as the phone comes out in a few days.

Very Nice! Although what it does not say is how long the implementation will take. By that time most everyone here will have most likely traded in their A2 for a Galaxy SIII. Or something more powerful. Look at how long ICS is taking to hit the US A2.
If we don't get JB the $100 offer will be useless to me unless Motorola makes the next Nexus device.
I wonder if they are going to skip ICS and go straight to JB (att version)? May this be what's holding up the ICS soak?

I was wondering the same thing. It'll be interesting to see if a soak test starts in the very near future and what kind of build the test is for.

Keep in mind folks, as far as the "developing options" goes, I doubt that means unlocking the bootloader.
We already have a "development options" tab in our leak, remember? That may be why it's on the leak, because Moto was testing it before it was released.
This could be nice. But... if they expect to get the updates out by the end of the year, they ought to start kicking a** instead of dragging it. I'm hopeful.

Just another excuse to delay any form of updates.
The $100 credit will more than likely only be for MOTO products...
Wow. Assuming that we didn't end up with jellybean, I would take my $100 credit and buy a new unlocked moto phone as soon as it comes out, sell it on eBay, and put the $100 difference in the BL unlock bounty
The catch is the 100 dollar credit goes to another crappy phone from moto

Their phones are top notch, but they're locked, which is supposedly gonna change, so I'd take a hundred bucks towards a new Motorola if its unlocked, if not my girlfriend can have it. I'm personally one of the (what seems like) very few people who loves Motorola phones. Samsungs feel too cheap, and Sense causes lag.

Yeah, that's what kills the phones for me. I'd take an unlocked moto phone any day. I did read somewhere that the hundred dollar credit would only be toward select phones though. So who's to say they won't choose locked phones

ics still isnt even in testing phase... by this rate we would get JB by mid-2013 the earliest possible.
add to that, if you bought your phone on ebay, or outside usa, the $100 credit is good for toilet paper.
Thats a great news for the ATRIX 2 users

I'll believe it when I see it. Motorola is going to have to step it up considerably for me to even entertain the thought of purchasing another Moto phone.

OTA has released. A guy here from Cambodia got it. Only a matter of time for rest of the SEA region. So ICS is past the testing phase.

Probably talking about the US/NA region. The soak hasn't even begun yet.
OT: Pretty sure the $100 credit is only for the new Razr phones. Someone on the moto forums posted the transcript.

We will get the 100 dollar upgrade toward a RAZR maxx HD.
Article here:

BTW, I am not recommending or condoning this, just sharing. I might do it just to see what the RAZR maxx HD is like but, we will see.
The rebate program is a joke. I own three eligible phones but the offer is only valid in the USA.

Isn't the RAZR Maxx HD a Verizon phone only?

Well this a good place to cross-link threads: the Support My Moto Campaign - I see a few of us have already been over in that thread... not sure what we will really get out of this, but it's a good consolidated effort I suppose.
And, what you all talking 'bout? We already got some jelly beans for our phone (cm10 - pretty good start, so far) - and, I am pretty optimistic that we will get some other flavors of JB too.. so, I guess the news is not so disappointing.
On the other hand, I will be taking advantage of Moto in any way I can, so gimme that 100 virtual bucks!
Probably use it for my wife's A2 - she don't need unlocked bootloaders - heck, she wants me to put her back on GB after a week of ICS
Moto seems to make good quality phones/handsets.. but I will most likely move on to another manufacturer and keep my A2 as a backup.
Edit: We are on that list, but the plain ol' RAZR (xt910/912) is not?!? That's just wrong...
So is Motorola gonna pay for me to switch from at&t to Verizon? Otherwise that means nothing to the at&t crowd...

Yea man. The best way to do it, if you WANT a phone, save up the money and pay what you have to. Contracts get way out of hand when it comes to the small things. I'm currently tied down myself, but not for much longer. I'll most likely keep the A2 as a back up though since its still a very good piece of hardware AND I've grown quite fond of my A2 community (good people). And, honestly, I may or may not go with another Moto phone. It just all depends.
But all in all, this whole deal with Moto really doesn't bother me as bad as others are bothered. I mean come on, this phone is the shiz, and Moto really does make great phones. Its just from a developers point of view where things get sour.
Yes I went off topic a bit, but sometimes its needed for others to read and relate to.
