I have looked at search results and seen a few responses but nothing that explained it well enough for me to understand...
I am using SuperOneClick for Galaxy S 4g using these instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739300
I followed the instructions and my phone is stuck on the E:signature verification failed warning and I don't know what to do. Is there a simple way to go BACK?
I don't have clockwork recovery

That isn't SuperOneClick. That is just the regular One Click Root that doesn't work on the 4G.
SuperOneClick is on HERE
Try psneuter first. Then if that doesn't work. Try rageagainstthecage.
thank you thank you!

heres the problem that im having. im trying to use simple root OTA 1.47.6511 edition. it starts off fine but whenever it gets to the part where it pushes the flash_image to the sd card i get this "permision denied" message.
i also read on here that a member by the name of cubano21 said:
"I was going to try one of the manual methods, but new when I boot into the HBOOT I get an error saying the main version is older, update failed. I've tried a couple different PC36IMG.zip files and all of them get the same error." ....well ive tried this and get the same thing.
ive read several different instructions from other forums as well as this on this issue im having with simple root but have had no luck.
im hoping someone has some insight.

Use this method. I did 3 Evo's purchased just last week with no problems.
Then I would flash AMON_Ra's recovery.

when it gets to the HBOOT USB option i get an error screen on my computer that says "driver not installed". then when you click on the bubble a message pops up that says "android 1.0 drive not found" or something like that.
have i done something wrong?
This belongs in the Q&A section. You need to read the forums, everything you ask has been asked MANY times before... READ, then post. Good luck

Did you read the first post from that thread before you just jumped into using Unrevoked 3.21?

1. Windows users MUST install the HBOOT drivers for this to work:

As stated, you MUST have the HBOOT driver installed first before you run Unrevoked 3.21.

Dude, seriously, don't just jump right into things like that that you find on the internet.
You have got to slow down and read. Doing that will save you an enormous amount of time and head aches later on.
This wasn't so bad.
Next time you might wind up doing something that bricks your $200-300 telephone.
I'm going to go ahead and throw my unneeded two cents in and agree with unrevoked. It is exactly what the slogan states, painless root.
follow this, simple step by step..

I have the same problem. I am running Firmwire Version 2.2, Baseband version I897UCJ16, Kernel version 2.6.32.9, and Build number FROYO.UCJ16.
I am trying to root this via the one-click 2.2 software and it tells me something like "E:signature verification error" or something like that. Can anybody please help me root my phone? This is a christmas gift for my cousin and I told him it was going to be rooted! Please help anyone??
I did manage to get mine rooted but I can't do anything with zips that have to be installed with recovery mode.
Can't figure out what's going on here..

I have an HTC EVO 4G phone which I am trying to root using revoked3, unfortunately with no success. I keep getting the unable to root. Firmware is too new error. I have read dozens of posts on this topic and have tried all of the suggestions from changing my PC connection from charge only to data disk, installing HTC Sync and uninstallng it, I have the proper drivers installed, have USB debugging checked etc. I have unstalled all apps and even factory reset my phone with no luck.
Does anyone have any idea on what I am missing.
Thanks a bunch.

This seems to have worked somewhat. When I look in the HBOOT screen it shows S-OFF now but when I run Titanium Backup it says could not acquire root privileges. I did get busybox as well but it will not complete the install process saying phone is not rooted. What am I missing?

Use this to flash ClockworkMod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638.
Ok. I believe I got it. Thanks. Ill check back tomorrow if I have any other questions.
I recently followed these instructions to get CM7 on my Evo Shift:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Evo_Shift_4G:_Full_Update_Guide
I had to do the 2.2 downgrade by following this guide, including the temp root linked in the instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255474
When I had that set up, I downloaded ROM Manager and made a recovery image. Installed CM7. Everything worked great, except for some wonkiness with Google Voice. I found an ICS rom that looked interesting, but being a total newbie had no idea how to switch to something new. So, I loaded my recovery image thinking this is the closest thing to starting from scratch. However, after I did that superuser was no longer on my phone and I couldn't get temp root like I previously could. I consistently got this message:
"an error occurred running the exploit (-1) (errno: 25)"
If I can't temproot, I can't put superuser back on my phone. Is there another way to root my phone? Did I do something phenomenally stupid? Any advice for switching between roms? I apologize for my inexperience; I just started rooting a week ago.
Thank you for your patience!!
I'm not sure how to help but here is a guide for flashing ROMs correctly that I use. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266885

Sounds like you don't have ClockworkMod installed properly. There are many threads here about it. Use the search and take a few minutes to read about getting CM installed.
After that, make a backup of your current setup.
Then, you need to learn how to Odin. You are obviously new and you are going to brick your phone. Learn how to recover your phone first.
Try using Odin to get your phone back to stock. Then, try reinstalling CM and restore your backup.
You'll be right back where you started right?
Exactly.
After you learn to fix problems, you will be ready to take some risks. And, installing Glorious Overdose IS A RISK.
Don't be a doofus that posts a "Help Me" thread. Odin first.

So is there any procedure to upgrade 2.3?????
Sent from my SGH-T839 using xda app-developers app
Step 1. Write a 2.3 ROM from scratch.
Step 2. Install it.
Step 3. Be a hero on the forum, since no one has ever managed to do it before.
I guess we need a 'Sarcasm!' sign here.
Khizar hayyat, no there is no procedure, you can't update. This phone is dead.
