Official gingerbread test rom for htc desire hd - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

A while ago, we told you about an HTC rep at
MWC 2011 confirming that the Desire lineup will
get Android 2 . 3 Gingerbread updates. That
rep ’ s confirmation has now been confirmed ,
what with a test ROM for the HTC Desire HD
being leaked into the wild today .
The update seems to be a work in progress ,
because the ROM is still being labeled ‘ test’ .
However , HTC are once again showing that
they ’ re leading the pack when it comes to swift
Android updates . It will take a while for this
update to become final and make it out , but
they are showing some intent and taking action
on that front , which will please the HTC owners
no end .
You can download the ROM (link below) , but do so at
your own risk because details on what it does
are sparse at best. You might end up bricking
your phone , so be careful. Very careful .

If it's branded handset you need to check with your network operator if update is available.

[Q] Help: may have bought a HTC Desire C Test Unit

Hi All,
I bought a HTC Desire C phone for 100 and sounded like a good deal but when I rebooted the device it displayed a message:
"This build if for development purposes only and should not be distributed outside HTC ...."
Also when trying to restart, it gives four options:
Normal
Hot restart
bootloader
Recovery
Also when booting, it displays HTC One tm ....
years ago I used to work for Motorola and worked on devices like MPx, MPx220 and Moto Q, back then our test
unit displayed similar messages but the device use to lose any user data including contact list, settings ets
this one doesn't - the seller claimed that this started happening after he "unlocked' the device from the HTC's website.
Motorola's test units use to mention that its "test" unit next to IMEI number, this one doesn't and infact the sticker
looks just like my HTC Raider (nice and clean)
So my question to the gurus is, how do I suppress the "development" message and how do I make the restart option simple
Do I need to reset it somehow? etc
thanks in advance
Z
You could always find a RUU for the Desire C and flash it. then everything should go back to stock.
He was correct, it shows that message after using the bootloader unlock method on HTCDEV, flash an RUU as stated above. Go to settings>about>software information and it should tell you if your using a custom Rom.

Your phone is running the Nameless custom Rom which is fine, and on the matter of the RUU it depends where you are and what carrier your on, also it depends if you have NFC, if you want to flash a stock Rom for NFC or non-NFC let me know
If I helped, just press thanks

[2013/11/04] Update is rolling out! Android 4.2.2 & Sense 5 - Discussion

The Update is rolling out!
In Serbia & Croatia and other countries, for free k2ul.
You can follow the happening from here.
Usually HTC is updating free k2ul (with LTE) first. If all is fine, free k2u are next, together or followed by provider k2ul.
After that, cricket & boost get the update.
At least they did this way for the 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update.
Pictures: Look at this post
==================================================
You need to get back stock, if you are rooted and have custom recovery/rom:
S-On, you have to S-off your device and do the S-off guide
S-Off you can do from the beginning like told here.
==================================================
Old Post:
We don't know for sure if it will come, rumors say yes, HTC says nothing.

I know this twitter post from football:

I hope (and believe) of course this will come, but its not confirmed officially.
And i don't think it will come before august/september. All before would be a real suprise cause even the update for HTC One isn't released officially. Then will follow OneX, OneX+...
But there are rumors that One S maybe don't get it (technical issues). That would be heavy for them.
Other news say, we get Android 4.2.2 without Sense 5:

Here's a video about Android 4.2.2 & Sense 5. Its from HTC One, but features are almost the same (except some things like Zoe or so):
So let's start here a discussion thread about the update to Android 4.2.2 & Sense 5.

They will probably get it eventually via dev / mod roms, have you tried that CM10 rom for the boost one sv over on android forums ? I was thinking about trying the rom only on my phone, I know the kernel wont work as its for boost.

For sure. But it states the end of official lifetime.
Here in germany people always say "don't buy the One SV, buy the One S, cause the SV will get no updates". That news was a little bit funny for me

No, exactly because the kernel will not boot. But as far as i know, bkcokota is working on CM and i pushed him to simon's thread to have a look.

Football is continue claiming that there will be an update.
A german "insider" is sure there will be nothing.
To make it clear: atm we don't know anything for sure!
But related to One S: it was canceled because of their different processors. Qualcomm does no longer support the S3 version. And before they only update the S4 and user are asking "why does he get an update and i not, we have both One S", the have canceled.
But this problem don't exist on our phone!
So let's hope and keep fingers crossed.
There's article on gottabemobile: "HTC One SV Android 4.2 Update Pegged for “Near Future”"

Most people go with the flagship phones or the cheaper (Desire X). Most time people complain about resolution, but when you used to 800x480 (like you and i from Desire S times) its not a problem i think.
But all in all i would say the most devs are working on the flagships.
It is clear that our model is not very popular. If by the end of summer does not release update, then it is likely that 4.2.2 will not.

And as i have heard, the HTC One mini will also have the same processor and 1 GB Ram. So also not a big alternative/difference in 4,3" phones. Better screen, but no sd card, so i'm staying with lovable One SV.
But lets come back on topic, please!
The One SV stands in between the One V and One S in terms of specs(hence it's name),and if the One S isnt getting an update, there is a high chance that the One SV won't get one
But we cannot miss the fact that it was launched after the One S so there is some hope for this device

Sense 5 with 4.2.2 is not available at the moment.
It could be ported when AT&T HTC One X (aka One XL or Evita) receives sense 5 + 4.2.2.

Finally HTC One X getting Android 4.2 + Sense 5 update in Europe . huraaa!!!!
Not long after the HTC One X+ started getting its Android 4.2 update in parts of Asia, HTC Europe has followed suit with an update for the original NVIDIA Tegra 3-powered One X. Reports from the XDA forums show that the update to version 4.18.401.2 weighs in at a little under 380 MB, and includes Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean and the new HTC Sense 5 UI. As such, the update also adds many features from the HTC One, including the BlinkFeed home screen experience, the new Gallery and Camera apps, and automatic video highlights.
It's worth underscoring that this update is for the European HTC One X (codename Endeavor), not the AT&T One X, known internationally as the One XL (codename Evita). So far there are reports that the update is hitting Nordic countries and parts of Eastern Europe first, including Slovakia and Denmark; other European countries should be getting the OTA in the hours and days ahead.
HTC insider @LlabTooFeR tweets that the European HTC One X+ should also be getting a similar OTA, to software version 2.18.401.2, however we've yet to see any signs that that update is rolling out.

If you tried searching in the dev section, you would see the number of ROMs that are bug free 4.2. If you're not happy with the number, make a new ROM yourself.
Why is it so hard to just look?
