Replacement Back Cover? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Has anyone found a company that makes a metal back cover for the Samsung Galaxy S 4G?
The terribly flimsy and cheap back cover is the only hardware aspect of this phone that I really don't like, but I haven't seen any companies that make metal versions of back covers.

i actually hated the back of the gs4g when i first bought it, but it has reallY grown on me. i love it now

I got elago case from amazon its pretty stable should give it a look

If you look at the vibrant accessory forum, you will find someone who is making carbon fiber and brushed metal backings. Tons of people have ordered though so it might take a while.

Case-mate barely there case

Just got mine today, came with a screen protector.
fits great, has soft feel and is not slippery in the hand at all.
Its my second case-mate I've owned and I'm definitely satisfied. If you want the right case the first time and not to deal with the riff raff, this Is for you.

just ordered , will post info when i get it
just got in the mail couple of minutes ok. Great purchase, very light and tight on the phone , like OP said comes with a screen protector (which am not using) and a cloth to wipe your screen down , which leave it like new too
It acually comes off without a struggle too, which it seems a lot of these style cases lack. Cheers

Just ordered as well. I've been using OtterBox for my T-Mobile G2, but the tab attaching the front piece to the phone on OtterBox case is broken. We'll see how well case-mate case holds up.
Still a little pricey for me, the rubber ones one ebay have the same rubbery feel and also look and protect the same for less then $5. Just my opinion though
how rubbery is it? The original case I bought from Tmobile would get stuck in my pocket when I would try and pull it out. Now I am rocking a clear case but one of the tabs recently broke so I am looking for another
Its not rubbery to the point that its hard to take out of pocket, just feels nice in the hand, and not as slippery as a gloss finish.
Spending $20 bucks to adequately protect a device that costs $500 out of contract is well worth it imo.
Like I said, I reccomend it to the people not interested in wading through the waves of ebay garbage for $1.99

like the name says this case is really light, but protects your phone well
I've got my DZ with the Barely There case for about a month now, and I'm very happy with it. You don't even notice the screen protector, and the case itself doesn't make your phone look like a new refridgerator, but it does make your phone feel like it's sturdy enough to survive an accidental drop on the ground.
I recommend the CM BT case to every DZ user
Can this be store bought? I've been looking for a Screen protector that includes a case!
I was actually not aware of this brand (Case-Mate) before, and was therefor very surprised to see that the case i bought for 5$ in a little Chinese shop in manhattan looks 99% the same (only difference i could see is the hole on top right corner of the back, as i've seen in several other cases, but not mine.)
i think for 1/4 of the price, its well worth it
Thanks for the pics bro

Is it just me or did we as consumers just completely breeze right past the day when cases went from 10 bucks to 35-50.
They are still the same damn case!
I know why. Phones are made thinner, lighter and more delicate......so they could sell us what they know we need.......something to make it BIGGER, THICKER and HARDER.
We are screwing ourselves........and paying someone to do it.

LMFAO, Slappy! You are too funny!
I, for one, am willing to pay a bit more for a good quality case. 18 months ago, I bought a very cheap silicone flappy-case for my very-soon-to-be-replaced Samsung Eternity (UPS is dropping my Infuse TODAY - woo hoo!). I remember taking off the silicone case after about one month of use to give the device a good ol' wipedown. I was super bummed to see that the sides of the phone were all scratched up FROM BEING IN THE CASE! This POS case had actually trapped dirt/dust between itself and the phone and proceeded to chafe itself silly!
So anyway, I'm going to get a solid, snug, and well made case for my new Infuse.
Having said that, any suggestions on brand and/or model? I am thinking Otterbox Commuter, but am open to anything...
I'm liking the casemate pop case.

Infuse Case
I went with a rubberized hard case, no name with screen protector included for $7 shipped on eBay. It looks quite similar to the CaseMate.
That should tide me over until the OtterBox commuter comes out.
I bought the CM Pop when I bought my phone. I just didnt like the feel and size so I exchanged it for the Body Glove case and I am very happy.

Uh the Body Glove Mirage case is black with diagonal lines. In my eyes/opinion it does not resemble actual (or imitation) carbon fiber in any way.

Cases with good lip around the front

Hi I've been a lurker for a while pyt this is my first post and I was wondering if anyone had good recommendations for cases with a frontlip for the one x. I switch from the iPhone 3gs and was using the incase slider that a had a really nice design and saved my phone many times. I was the wondering if anyone knows of a similar case that won't scratch my phone like the incase did.

Loving my Case-mate "Smooth" purchased from expansys. Semi-rigid with a great hand feel. Recommended. No cutout for the contacts on the back though.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA Premium HD. In between FCs.
I did see that case I how big is the lip on the front. And does it feel cheap at all or does it collect a lot of lint because those are my only problems with some gel and tpu cases.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Feels very well made, fits tightly. You might have a tiny struggle getting it on at first, but you'll manage. The lip over the sides comes just far up enough to cover the seams on the glass. And because of its rigidity, it doesn't buckle to reveal the seams. I'm very satisfied with it.
One flaw I found - and it's been on both units I purchased - was a little unfinished cutting on the bottom edge of the camera lens cutout. Probably something in manufacturing where they cut it from the mold or whatever. It bothered me enough to get a return authorization, but it dawned on me (again) that life's too short to give a crap about ridiculous things like this so I never returned it. In fact, I bought the second unit for a buddy of mine instead.

I bought the Incipio Feather and NGP. The feather is going back the NGP is staying. This is a somewhat overpriced but well made and well fitting TPU case (semi-soft). Feels much more secure in my hand and less likely to slip than the Feather, though admittedly not as sleek. the Speck cases on the iPhone seem to offer good protection, but the only ones I saw in the AT&T store were ugly red and bright blue, I am not a teenager, no way I am putting one of these on my phone.
The official purple TPU case is pretty good for that but I'm not sure if I'm a huge fan of its appearance.
Cimo TPU case from Amazon is pretty good. Nice lip and good grip on the edges. Plus it was only $8 when I bought mine

EDIT: it isn't so thin. I think its thinner then the otter box, (I have it) but not many cases are thin for this phone. If you find one let me know XD.

Best? not even close... but I bought a case similar to this one about two years ago. Its saved my phone several times. The part that clips on the keyboard/battery half does not stay on anymore though. The 4 nubs are worn out and don't hold it. The screen part is what I was most worried about though and it still holds tight.
I was planning to go caseless after having aluminum cases on most of my previous phones until I dropped my epic just right and shattered the screen. I replaced the screen assembly and decided to get a case for it. I have went without a screen protector and have not had a single scratch. Gorilla Glass is something I'll be looking for on future phones for sure.

Received it today; first impressions...it fits like a glove, but it's easy to put on.
The silicone is the inner shell so it doesn't attract any dust. The plastic outside shell has a nice texture and isn't slippery. The only rubber parts which can be seen are the"enforced"edges, which serve the purpose of protection and makes sure that your screen never touches anything when laid down on its face and a narrow ring around the screen. The case however doesn't have covers for the ports(usb, camera, headphone and speakers) I had the idea that it would come with a screen protector, but my dead brain cells must have misunderstood the description. It comes however with a protective cover which also serves as a stand. It feels sturdy and with it on, your note is well protected, it makes however quite heavy like a brick.
The "phone"still fits in my hand, but that is without the cover attached.
All in all I'm quite satisfied with this case it will protect my note well and the design is not too shabby either.
I'll give y'all an update in two weeks.
Cheers my friends.

thanks for sharing your impressions and the pictures. i am very tempted to pick one of these up myself. I got a simple/cheap flip case to hold me over temporarily, but to be quite frank, I am too damn clumsy not to invest in more serious protection for my electronic devices.
Note 8 is my first case, so was curious how such a sturdy case felt on the device. Ballistic basically won over my loyalty two smartphone ago...had the equivalent case on my Atrix, and one day while running to catch a bus my phone fell out of my pocket and when flying, slammed into the asphalt of the highway/street i was running across hard enough to bounce three times and make it halfway back towards the other side of the street. I was horrified, went to retrieve it... not one single scratch, not one sign that anything had happened, just nothing. Those massive corners do their job, is all I have to say...
Hoping the case for this device is as reliable.
I can highly recommend this case, after two weeks of using, it has been nothing but good to my sweet note. The case and the stand feel sturdy, and when the note is my bag, the cover protects the screen...good stuff and a hell of a lot cheaper than the otter box.

When you put the cover on the back, the hole is a cutout for the camera.

Has anyone noticed the case puts too much pressure on the back of the tablet. This is causing white spots to appear on the screen. Looks like LCD mura, but goes away when you take the case off. I've sent Ballistic an email, maybe mine is defective.
