[SCRIPT] Permanent disabling hardkeys backlight - Desire Android Development

This is a simple init.d script for permanent disabling hardkeys backlight on any desire rom, without additional software.
Just
rename 54DisableKeybLight.txt in 54DisableKeybLight
adb push 54DisableKeybLight /system/etc/init.d/
adb shell chmod 755 /system/etc/init.d/54DisableKeybLight
OR
flash zip

Do nothing with starburst rom...

Nice, i'm pretty interested
Which roms has it been tested with?

Don't work on Redux 1.0.0
Edit: but I guess it depends on the kernel, isn't that aimed to sense kernel ?

Your rom have to support init.d...
Just flash the zip like roms
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Changed to '/sys/devices/i2c-0/0-0066/leds/button-backlight/brightness' and works on Oxygen & Redux gb roms
attached gb/oxygen 54DisableKeybLight.txt &.zip - follow instructions in OP.
Thank if works; reply/pm if not! I'd love to know if it works or not on which rom.
Reattached files, should work 100% fine now.

exactly what i was looking for, zip flashed in recovery, works on Leedroid 2.4!
Thanks!

is there another zip file that i can flash to re enable the hardkeys backlight ?

Does not work on nightly 80 cm7

Tried pushing both init scripts via adb, neither have an effect on GingerVillain 2.4. Also, the .zip files aren't compatible with the 3.x.x.x releases of CWM.
Edit: It's Cyanogen based so there seems to be some agreement that it does not work with yreham's experience.

Why don't you just use "LEDs Hack" available on the Market?

Because I a) don't want an icon in my taskbar and b) it's buggy on my setup. An init scrip would be less invasive. Sad that neither are working for me at the moment.

Settings->CyanogenMod settings->User interface->Automatic backlight->"Light Level"->"Use Custom"->"Edit other levels" does that work?
If no, try attached 54DisableKeybLights class.txt and/or 54DisableKeybLights platform.txt (rename each to 54DisableKeybLights [no .txt, no class/platform] and adb as per OP)
I don't have CM7 so just going by what I've found online concerning the leds brightness values.
Report back if either/both/non work please.

How can i re enable the keys after i used thr zip file to disabled them?

remove the script. Init.d scripts run on every boot and only work for that session.
If you are s-off, remove via root explorer and reboot.
If s-on, quickest way is to reflash your rom without the scripts, whichoverwrites their location

Flash the EnableJIT.zip
Reboot (dont wipe)
It may boot loop once just let it go. if it doesn’t take reboot to recovery and flash DisableJit.zip

Strange but it was dialing right away for me until I set up my googlevoice app now the lag is back.
google voice will lag the dialer no matter what rom you're running.
it'll lag even more if you select the option for it to ask you each time you dial.

One thing I noticed after I flashed this to my hero was a2sd was version 2.7 Beta 7.
I was trying Fresh 2.1.2 earlier and I know that one used a2sd 2.7 update 1
I found the latest a2sd from another XDA post (sorry I can't post links yet)
so I copied that to my sdcard and flashed that and it seemed to update fine.
Is there any reason I should stay with the a2sd in the rom and not the updated one?
Flashed this a couple of hours ago. Nice to have a rom with everything in it. If I want something removed, then I just pull it. The only problem is that you cannot do a prl update. I pushed the OMADM.apk file from fresh to the /system/app folder and everything works as it should.
Great job getting this out there. Really appreciate it.
I have attached the apk to fix the updateing issue.
Only issue I've found so far is that Teeter won't run (It crashes for me on launch and I have to force quit).
Of course that may not be an issue for others, but I wanted to report.
Hello everyone glad to see there was a demand for something like this, Just my personal opinion but the dialer/phone lag seems to have been reduced greatly with the update, also the phone seems a little more responsive all around, havent seen any negative's about the update as of yet.

[KERNEL] OTA 1.47.651.1 stock boot.img in update.zip

CAUTION: ANY CUSTOM ROM WHICH HAS A MODIFIED KERNEL, PROBABLY WILL BREAK BY USING THIS.
More than likely you will need to copy over the ramdisk. If you don't know how to do this, then wait until your ROM developer does it for you!
Who: For those who are ANXIOUS and the DEVELOPER type (more advanced users) who want to load the new kernel which comes with the OTA_Supersonic_1.47.651.1-1.32.651.6_release.zip released today.
If you're not an advanced user or the developer type, please wait for the builder of the ROM you're using to release their own update!
What: I've pulled the boot.img from the firmware.zip inside of the OTA_Supersonic_1.47.651.1-1.32.651.6_release.zip and put it into this update.zip.
Tech Details: This update.zip copies flash_image and boot.img to /system/bin and /system, flashes the new boot.img and deletes boot.img from /system. My first time creating this type of update.zip on the EVO!

Sorry for the noob question, I'm new to android. Is this for stock rooted roms? I am running stock evo rom rooted and nand unlocked, so is this essentially an update for rooted users running stock rom? And will I have to update the radio with a seperate flash? Thanks for your help, and everyone's hard work!

I do have "flash_image" in /system/bin.? Also, followed Joey's script for that update.zip in adb manually and didn't get any error, I just don't know how to verify the install. Will it show in build???

Do you have any of the Sprint and/or HTC apps removed? I removed a bunch of that bloatware and I read that some people couldn't get the update to install. Wondering if OP fixed that in this kernel.
That worked Thanx
Kernel's working just fine with Avalaunch's Froyo ROM.

Here's link:

It should extract the ramdisk and everything from your current kernel and just replace the zImage and then flashes boot.img.

i prob wont delve into this yet cuz i haven't modified the ramdisk at all, but this is encouraging!
ill prob wait till we get some htc source code for the kernel, and then dive into customizing the kernel and the ramdisk or if i get bored and wanna customize my ROM with this stock kernel and custom ramdisk!

Unfortunately, no.
Installation
1. Flash a recovery image
2. Copy the .zip file to your MicroSD card and boot the phone into recovery mode (call+volume-up+power)
3. Choose "Flash zip from sdcard" and choose the zip you just copied.
4. Wipe data+cache before rebooting. You should wipe unless you are already on a Froyo ROM.
Swap:
To enable swap on partition 3 or partition 2 (it will check partition 3 first and if it doesn't exist it will try partition 2)
$ su
# sdswap.sh enable
$ su
# sdswap.sh disable
Compcache:
If you are using are already using a swap partition on your SD-card, then you most likely shouldn't enable compcache. But if you do not want to partition your SD-card then compcache can be a good alternative.
Read more about how Compcache works here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Compcache
Enable compcache
In a terminal or using an adb shell type this:
$ su
# compcache.sh enable
Type free to confirm you now have 32Mb swap
Disable compcache
In a terminal or using an adb shell type this:
$ su
# compcache.sh disable
Type free to confirm you now have 0Mb swap
Advanced users
Compcache size, settings and swappiness is setup in /system/bin/compcache.sh
If you are an advanced user, you'll know how to proceed from here...
Some questions before putting this on, since I'm always a noob with installing new ROMs...
1) Is this in a stable and smooth stage yet (with everything working properly) or is this still in developmental stages? What is the difference between this and cas_xp's?
2) I'm currently running The Celestial Teapot at 652mhz, will this be noticeably slower considering it doesn't have overclock (does it?). What's the deal in regards to overclocking?
3) I can install this fine (flashing it) over Kalt Kaffe's TCT ROM (replacing it with this one) or do I have to somehow get TCT off first?
Forgive me if my questions are nooby, I always prefer to overask (woohoo new word) in regards to ROMs
Whatever the case, thanks for working on this! Awesome (really) if it works perfectly, but even if not, I like seeing any development with U8100.
Unfortunately, it won't boot on huawei u8110.
I've tried to delete data/fatory reset, but it didn't help.

[MOD] Trackpad press to unlock (and awake) Official HTC GB 3.14.405.1

Hi everyone..
I have patched and developed a Trackpad-to-unlock function for the latest Official HTC Gingerbread release 3.14.405.1 based Roms including my Rom SuperNova.. With this, I have also fixed the issue of the phone occasionally turning on by itself from standby for a couple of seconds erratically.
Included Functions:
Single press Trackpad-to-unlock (and wake) (No swipe down needed)
Single press Power button-to-unlock (and wake)
Fix for erratic momentary wake-from-standby
(Note that the Trackpad-awake function is the function of the patched kernel, and you will need to have it, with the keymapping file-curcial.oj installed for Trackpad-awake function to work)
It is based on a patched HtcLockScreen.apk file.
Feel free to use it any of your Roms. Credits if added would be much appreciated!
Installation Instructions:
1. Flash the Flashable zip from recovery
For the users out there, I've released a flashable zip (flashing untested, but ought to work)..
2. Install from adb/Terminal
You can extract the apk, and do this from adb/term (no adb shell command needed ofc if doing from term):
Code:
adb shell
rm /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
rm /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]@HtcLockScreen.apk
exit
adb push HtcLockScreen.apk /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
adb shell
chmod 644 /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
Obviously your system has to be mounted RW (Root explorer can do that) to write to /system.
3. File Expert/ES Explorer/Root explorer method:
Mount system as RW,
Remove the old /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk, /data/dalvik-cache/[email protected]@HtcLockScreen.apk
Copy over the file, change permissions to 644.
Reboot after modifying the file.
Done!
Don't forget to Say (and/or) Click Thanks if you find this useful!

Is it possible to bring with another update a function to "end call with single power button press" ? I would really appreciate this kind of functionality...
best regards

It's possible. But how many users would really need it, to make it worthwhile for a dev's time.. These things take time, jumping through decompiled dalvik byte code and retesting each code change by rebooting phone can be very tedious

Ok, I have fixed them and reuploaded the files. Try these and tell me. They have been tested to work.
@Droidzone:
Will it be compatible with Nexus One's Trackball running Sense ROMs? N1 and Desire has the same hardware apart from trackball vs trackpad... Thanks!

Unless Nexus One uses HTC's Sense Rom with the same HtcLockscreen.apk (which is improbable), it will not be.

Ouch... You're right, I mean Trackball Wake..
I was thinking that your mod was doing that Sorry
I didnt have to add Trackpad-to-wake as my Rom has it built in
Oook, thanks for the clarification
Thought I should bump this since I started getting questions about this

This kernel using the luxandroid_v4 test. Thank you luxandroid
Thank you very much show-p1984 for sweep2wake code contribution, as well as help
If you flush this kernel boot prompt WI-FI errors, Then please use my providing driver replaces to the appropriate position of the system can resolve
What is sweep2wake?
Since this function collides with HTC's screenshot function (PWR+HOME) it will be disabled. Use the AOSP screenshot instead. (PWR+VOL.DOWN at the same time and hold it for about a sec)
This has a few advantages, one is a nice animation the second would be that it is hardcoded by google into any ICS firmware you can find. That means: no matter which device you will pick up, as long as it has ICS this function should work out of the box.

You can try this: for example you're flash luxandroid_v4 ROM, you replace me lib luxandroid_v4, and then use a TWRP Recovery flash
same here, I'm flashing now clean luxandroid v4, will report if it works
so here is what is exactly happening-
when i just flash boot.img from fastboot, nothing else, wifi stops working.
when i replaced lib modules from poppy22 zip wifi still was not working .
then i flashed flar2 kernel zip from recovery to replace modules
(original modules) wifi started working again but then the sweep2wake feature and other features of this kernel stopped working .
WiFi does not work mee ROM luxandroid v3.
Did you remove system r/w protection in this kernel? You should work with u-ra to get the kernel working on CM rom.

Have tried first flasihg the zip file in the recovery, then you should use fastboot to flash boot.img (kernel)? Because there are modules for wifi in the zip file.
New?

Yes it is but in first post poppy only writes that you have to flash only boot.img in the fastboot mode, he is not writing about flashing zip file trough recovery first. And a lot of user are simply following his directions. So I thought that he might didn't try the proper way.
Wi-Fi work
system>lib and delete modules files with root browser , rom toolbox vb...
and
copy poppy modules. system>lib paste poppy modules :good:
Thank you poppy22
