i came from hong kong, and i bought a second hand verizon D2G,
the seller told me that the phone is unlocked ,and able to use any simcard buy in hongkong.
but my question is, will flashing rom or rooting or anything else affect the unlocking??
one more thing, i had rooted my phone and used milestone overclock to OC my phone, but when i adjust the frequency higher than 1.25GHZ , the phone got extremely laggy, and have to be reboot. why ????
thx for helping =] a very new user of D2G and android

i want new phone unlocked because my g1 is slow but i was curious if there was a way to know if the chinese android phone is flashable and using which rom? and which is a good phone to buy ...
bumpppppp/
It hasn't even been 3 hours, there's no need for a bump. Also I don't think those cheap knockoffs can be flashed but it's possible. First you have to root it though which is probably possible with one of the "one-click root" apps. Actually flashing one is a bit more involved because of hardware differences. Next time just get the real phone instead of a knockoff, save yourself some headache and heartache at not being able to do everything you want.
i actually have a g1 thank you very much handsome
Well then take out the "next time"s from my previous post and I stick by it. Knockoffs generally aren't that great. Getting the real version from a store is better, even craigslist or ebay.
I rooted my galaxy note replica with bin4ry it worked perfectly as for flashing i have flashed a few things but to flash a rom it would be harder because i have found out i would have to port the custom rom to work with my device.

What did I miss? Why the assumption that the OP is talking about a "cheap knock-off". Maybe he means a Huawei, or ZTE or something.
Rooting android from China
Ok, i don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but i'm desperate. I want to flash my phone that i recently bought in China, but i'm getting no where. The problem is that i can't find recovery mod that will work on my phone. If someone have any idea what recovery mod should i try, please suggest it to me.
I'm using Samsung Galaxy Style Duos I-8262D.

It will depend on the device you have. You should search xda for your device name, but if it is a cloned device, you may not be able to find anything, because some clones are not well supported.
Hi there, i'd like to ask about using skyrocket out of its own carrier.
i'm planning to buy unlocked AT&T Skyrocket from a friend.i was just impressed with this phone. such a great specification.
the problem is i live in Indonesia . will the phone back to Locked with carrier after upgrading the ROM? or is it unlocked permanently?
and will it be a Radio issues? i need someone to give an explanation coz it's rarely used here in Indonesia.
Thanks all....
no it will no relock after u flash a rom, once its unlocked, is permanent. Just find out what GSM frequency your carrier supports/uses and if the skyrocket can use that frequency. I don't see this being a problem though seeing how the skyrocket has a pentaband radio.
Short answer, it will work!
Hello Guys...
first of all, excuse me for my poor english... sometimes I don't know the exactly word I need.
Anyway... I'm from Brazil, and the Razr HD just arrived here. My problem is the following: I bought one... but it has customizations from the cell phone operators (Like Verizon and other, in my case is from Claro, yes the mexican one).
I want to eliminate these customization, and I think that the best way to do this is root the phone, unlock the boot loader and load a stock rom, insn't it?
but that's my problem. I can't find the stock razr hd's rom in any place... Recently i found the Xoom2 stock room, so I imagine that's there already a Razr HD rom somewhere to download.
If anyone could help... I'll be grateful!!
Thanks a lot and happy 2013!!!
P.S. I don't think "Stock Rom" is what I need... reading more I found that stock Rom is the pure android... what I need is the room without any customization, the oficial motorola released rom... did you understand what I mean?
Thks again!

Please post questions in the Q&A thread. As for terminology, "stock rom" means how the phone is when it's first turned on. All the different cel service providers specify provider specific apps to be added to the rom. Motorola doesn't release an unbranded rom. Also, the radio is set specifically to a region for LTE access (not all radios are on all the time, as that would drain battery like crazy).
Best way to get what you're looking for... Check the "debloat" threads in Q&A and look for which apps can be frozen safely. You will have to root and install an app like root uninstaller to do so.

Thanks a lot for your answer... I think that i was locking for a Retail rom... my ideia is to install a razr hd rom that is "clean" without any customization...
i found this site... but I'm not quite sure if is this what I need... my idea is to download the Retail Brazilian, root the phone... use the RSD Lite to put it on the phone... then do the normal procedure... will it work?
thanks a lot!

I too got a XT925 from Claro and did exactly what you described. It worked perfectly.
1) Rooted the phone
2) Downloaded retail ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943879
3) Used RSD Lite 6.0 to install the ROM
You can also freeze the unwanted apps (iJogos, iJogos HD...) , but I think you can only remove the Claro logo during boot by flashing a retail rom.
Best of luck!

Actually, in Brazil you can buy unbranded, retail phones. I think this is different in the USA and Europe, where phones are only sold through operators.

I'm currently using an unlocked AT&T G2 on the T-Mobile network, but all these AT&T specific features and apps are really bugging the crap out of me. Has anyone tried installing a T-Mobile version of the stock firmware on this Model? Really didn't want to just jump in and mess up my phone without asking first.
