Anyone facing problems in sending a text message to multiple recipients?
Ever since I updated to 2.3.2, the messaging app sort of freezes and jams after sending the message to the first recipient in the list.

How do you send to multiple recipients? I thought one couldn't. Did 2.3.2 change that?
there never was a option for that
Simply insert a comma (,) after each contact selection. There you go...
And this feature has always been there. Is on my Dell Streak (Andriod 1.6 / 2.2), was on my Motorola Milestone (Android 2.1) too.

I tried researching the forums, but to no luck I could not find a solution. The phone I'm currently using is the Droid 2 Global. I installed handcent and uninstalled the stock messenger app as I've done with the Droid. I can not receive any MMS messages at all, whereas on the Droid I could. I can usually figure my way out of things, but this has me stumped. Any suggestions or possible reasons behind this?
as far as i know blur is tied into the stock messager and handcent prob uses the stock messager to communicate with the messages correctly. so since you deleted the stock messager app handcent has no idea what to do
If I remember correctly, hancent and other sms applications are just basically customizable skins over the stock sms app, so by deleting it I believe you lost the ability to send texts

Also you shouldn't post issues about your D2 G in the D2 android development section. Not only is it not a development question it's not even a Droid 2 question. Please stick to general and the correct device section.

Try switching from wifi to 3g. My phone did the same thing for a while and that was the only fix.

Hello all, this may be a basic android question but i am new to andriod (HTC Thunderbolt, unrooted). The messaging app has three tabs: All Messages, SMS/MMS, and Voicemail. I'm assuming the All Messages tab should show not just SMS/MMS but also emails at the very least but all I get there is SMS/MMS. I have had the Mail app set up and working, and also the Gmail app. Also I have FB and Twitter for HTC Sense both set up (not sure if those post should show up there or not. Is there a setting I'm missing or am I misunderstanding the purpose of the Messages app? Trying to use the full functionality of the Thunderbolt. Thanks for your advice.
The all messages folder is supposed to show sms/mms as well as push messages and visual voicemail messages however I have yet to figure out how to get push messages or what services uses these

So lately I've been having some annoying SMS/MMS issues that are starting to grind my gears and I'm starting to feel a bit of resentment over the phone.
I've been getting complaints of iPhone users receiving my SMS twice. I'm seeing that when this happens, I get a "message failed" error in other SMS apps other than the stock SMS app, and then it sends right away. This problem can be recreated on both the stock SMS app and Play Store apps.
I'm also getting this extremely annoying problem with MMS where I can't receive files bigger than 600 KB. I get the error "One or more of the message components have been deleted by MMS Adaptation. Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your terminal." This is happening on a message over 800 KB.
Has anyone experienced these issues? Is this carrier related? I refuse to believe that my phone will not receive 1 MB or bigger MMS messages, as I'm sure it's quite capable of doing.
Also, does anyone have the APN for HSPA+ without LTE? I'm thinking maybe the SMS problem has to do with the network I'm operating on. Please advise.
Edit: the MMS limitation is due to the stock SMS application. the limit for files received is 600 KB while other applications can download well over 1.2 MB. My problem is solved, I'll have to find another viable SMS application.
Look at my thread about similar issues with sms. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1656203

Hi,
Did you fix this issue with the recipient received your SMS 2 times?
I am using the stock app and never tried any Play Store app.
For me this happen to an Android Phone too.
Maybe your phone heard you were gonna take her back and now she's mad and is refusing to talk

My phone is send *and* receiving duplicate SMSes from iPhones. Very annoying.
Used to have problems
I used to have mms problems, but ever since i flashed the CleanRom 2.4 on my phone, everything has been peachy keen
coming from a heavily jailbroken iphone, I can say that I do love rooting a whole lot more. I love how android operates and is so similar to linux
OP, not sure which app you were using, but I know ChompSMS was producing the exact results you were reporting.
1) Multiple messages sent / SMS Failed etc. This will show up in both Chomp and the stock app. (FIXED by latest Chomp update!)
2) MMS Adaptation. I have found that this is specifically when iPhone users send you a screengrab of their display. Those are saved in .png instead of .jpg and do not share the same compression rate. Obviously you could just have a really big .jpg, but most likely it is the former.
3) General MMS issues. This will occur if you do not disable "Auto-retrieve" in the stock Messages app.
I know it's a week later, but hopefully this saves you a headache or trips to the AT&T store.
I had completely forgotten about chomp. Thanks for reminding me. I started using it and while I still get messages not sending if I reply to a text from the pop up notification, it doesn't do it nearly as much as go sms. With go sms, the message not sending would happen one after another but not with chomp. And even though I don't like the sound, I've set chomp to make a sound after a successful sent message so at least I can tell if my message has sent without having to open the app.
Thanks again for mentioning chomp

Not really a Droid Charge question but my wife has sent two text messages in the past 2 days that I did not get. One has a small pic attached. I received messages before, between and after the missing messages and when she forward one of the missed messages, after I discovered things were missing, it came through fine.
Is there any way, or any place to look for missing messages or do they only exist on the sending device if delivery fails?
I'm on Tweaked 3.2 running Lazarus and this is the stock messaging app.
LÖL - just asked the same question in another thread. Use "Ghostly SMS" - it's on the Play Store, free & works amazingly well. No more missed SMSs...

I've just moved from BlackBerry 10 to android. Loved the way the bb10 messaging app works. When you type in a name or number it automatically shows the thread so you can see your prior conversation.
None of the Android apps do that - tried a few (chomp, textra etc) ..when you type in a name or number it doesn't show the prior conversation till you send the new message. Then it shows the conversation thread.
Is there a way to get this to work like bb10?

Can you explain the specific error on your android application?
Google messenger does this for SMS messages.
