did this work for anyone??
Will it work with Nexus S? Thanks.
Probably not, it got fixed since 2.2.1 I think, so GB will most likely not be compatible with Z4Root(that got no update).

Easier probably not(well I have no NS), but I think following guide should do the trick for you:

z4root will just rage at you and quit and when you try temporary root and youll have a laggy ns until you reboot.
I upgraded to 2.2 on Aria and I don't like it because I want my root back. I thought it would be fine and I could just root it off of 2.2, but I can't. Is there a way to go back to 2.1?

Sorry, but you should have read some of the many warnings here. At this point in time, there's no going back, once the official ATT 2.2 update is installed.

It's possible there will be a root fix at some point in the future, but I'm not sure it will be high on anyone's priority list.
i've heard that if you install the 2.1 rom, it will replace the unrootable hboot and then you can unrevoke it again and then install cm7. not sure if this is the case though. read around the forums.

attn1 verified in another thread in the General section that trying to use a gold card to downgrade by installing an older 2.1 version RUU was not successful on the Gratia/Aria. So if you have installed the AT&T 2.2 RUU you are stuck on it with no current way to root or downgrade.
Its super mean, and sucks big time..........but I laughed. Just a little.

Well, you COULD, if you have insurance, and hope to get a 2.1 replacement....
lol, just kidding.

Not trying to flame, but if you liked your root and wanted 2.2 why did you just not use Liberated FR008? And there may be a new root, but the whole point of that patch was to upgrade. But mainly remove root.

It is possible to downgrade. Downgrading, however, will not bring your Aria to a rootable state. You can only downgrade the firmware, not HBoot. The previous (older) HBoot is required to root.

I bricked my old Nexus S so I picked up a new one. (Thank god I had a warranty!) I am running Gingerbread 2.3.4 and I've checked for updates but it says there are none available. Is there anyway I can update from 2.3.4 -> 2.3.6 -> 4.0.4 -> 4.1.1 All without rooting or unlocking bootloader?
Download the flashable update .zips from the dev section.
Do I install them from stock recovery? & do I loose any data?
