Can somebody try rooting their Nexus S with SuperOneClick v1.6.2+?

Already rooted, sorry. Why? Are you looking for a guinea pig cause you're afraid of bricking your own phone?

Wow, that's kind of a cheap shot.
Did you even click through to his rather lengthy thread (with 110 thank yous attached to the first post, no less)? Sounds like you didn't.
If you had, you'd see he currently supports 24 different phone models. I wouldn't expect any developer to own 24 different models.
Don't forget, this is the xda-developers.com forum. Part of developing is getting other people to beta test your products, and one of the purposes of these forums.
To the OP...I'm already rooted, and on a Mac. Can't help you out, but appreciate your interest in the Nexus S.

I've just tried the SUPERONECLICK, it's stuck on 'waiting for device' and then unresponsive. Version 1.63

Status update, I've forgot to install the sdk and usb driver on this machine (not my main PC). Win7 64bit Pro. Now it sticks on 'RUNNING PSNEUTER' for the past 10 minutes...
Does not work, tried the turn off debug on/off same issue, see daemon, opens port, sticks on psneuter....
that app was made to support only 2.1 and 2.2
it works great in all other phones
just not Nexus S due the lack of 2.3 support

I upgraded to 2.2 on Aria and I don't like it because I want my root back. I thought it would be fine and I could just root it off of 2.2, but I can't. Is there a way to go back to 2.1?

Sorry, but you should have read some of the many warnings here. At this point in time, there's no going back, once the official ATT 2.2 update is installed.

It's possible there will be a root fix at some point in the future, but I'm not sure it will be high on anyone's priority list.
i've heard that if you install the 2.1 rom, it will replace the unrootable hboot and then you can unrevoke it again and then install cm7. not sure if this is the case though. read around the forums.

attn1 verified in another thread in the General section that trying to use a gold card to downgrade by installing an older 2.1 version RUU was not successful on the Gratia/Aria. So if you have installed the AT&T 2.2 RUU you are stuck on it with no current way to root or downgrade.
Its super mean, and sucks big time..........but I laughed. Just a little.

Not trying to flame, but if you liked your root and wanted 2.2 why did you just not use Liberated FR008? And there may be a new root, but the whole point of that patch was to upgrade. But mainly remove root.
Sent from my Liberty using XDA App
It is possible to downgrade. Downgrading, however, will not bring your Aria to a rootable state. You can only downgrade the firmware, not HBoot. The previous (older) HBoot is required to root.

Yes, but not with Superoneclick as it doesn't work with the update from LG. Assuming you have Clockwork Mod Recovery through NVflash, (great instructions http://www.techofweb.com/technology/flashing-cwm-recovery-g2x.html , simply flash a pre-rooted version of this update from xboarder54 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179748
1 click nvflash app to install clock work .
download rooted 2.33 rom or nandriod backup and flash
in clock work.
works fine..

trying to restore LG-P999-V10f/--i get--MD5 mismatch while trying to unroot. I already restored to a nandroid running 2.2 can I just run the LG update or must I unroot in order to update baseband? Will I be able to unroot if I update using LG (I have DW model). Help please.
Funny thing is I have been with Android since the G1. I have yet to root any of my android phones. I know, I'm a noob. I'm trying to learn how to root my G2x recently but want to make sure I find something solid so my phone will work 100% or close to that. Now that we have GB, I would assume the devs are updating their ROMs so I'm reading up to see what's the new or hot ROM for the G2x. If anyone can point me in the right direction or have some time to school this noob - I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
hello I'm not sure if there's any method it yet but I can't get any response on the Android forums so I've come here since I normally get good responses here. Anyways, I have the Verizon S3 under Verizon prepaid. It came pre-installed with 4.4 and a kernel of July 22, 2014. I had a phone before this one that was the same but it ran 4.3. I used towel root and it worked flawlessly. Now that I had returned the phone and got a new one due to one of my goofs. It came with 4.4 as I mentioned and the newer kernel. I tried towel root and it says it's not supported. I tried messing with the mod strings to no avail. So I have read it's from the newer kernel they put on the S3 that patched up the towel root exploit. So my question is, is there any other way at all that can root my device? It drives me crazy not having root. It's one of my habits in tinkering with things but can't do no tinkering on a non rooted device. So any help is appreciated.

You may be out of luck. You could try kingo root or another one but none of those may work either. VZW has found a way to patch the root exploits

I thought that might be the case. I hope not though. I have tried towel root, kingo root, root master, srs root, framaroot, z4root. Anything with the app of rooting I've used and all failed. Please can someone have any solution? Thanks for the info though

Well I didn't see any nexus devices under prepaid and I'd rather not go under contract. Do you think if I got a kernel from someone running 4.4 but it's older then my own, and flashed it via Odin, that it would work? Like remove the patch and be exploitable by towel root again? Or you think it'll just brick?

I know its been awhile since i last posted here but just telling everyone i have found a root method to obtain root on 4.4 with the new kernel dated on or before july 22 2014. I used the kingroot app. Just one click and got root. Not sure if kingroot and kingoroot are the same but i just used the king root to get root. I tried kingoroot and it fails. Any ways best of luck to everyone.
