I tried searching for similar topics but I have yet to run across my question.
I rooted my phone today and installed the most recent release of cyanogen with the ADW launcher.
I went to delete my txt messenger icon since I have handcent to replace it. I assumed the delete region of the screen was the same as standard OS but instead I replaced the Application Expand (white 6-9 square grid) icon in the center of the lower tray with the txt messenger icon.
Any suggestions on how to undo this mistake? It's making accessing apps a PITA.
Thanks
As the title indicates I have no "goto" icons in my lockscreen and my home screen is missing the most important icons, the only on there is the middle one for all apps.

Is this a know bug and is there a way to sort it? Yes I have tried reinstalling the rom without any luck.
It seems to work with other launchers (Go Launcher and LauncherPro) but I really just want the stock feel.
Also settings seem to crash a lot...
I had this kind of issue with the lockscreen. If you can, try running the HTC setup app. It hopefully will restore it. Make sure you don't have any repeating Force Close messages, especially with HTC apps. That locks up the whole thing and usually forces you to have to restore a nandroid backup.
Well, that kinda worked for the lockscreen, I now have settings and one other thing there. I seem to remember there used to be a way to customize which icons to show? Any idea where to find it?
Anyone got any tips on the home screen icons?
As the title says, I am unable to add or remove apps to/from home screen. If I want to access an app that's not on the home screen I have to go to the app drawer. Not sure when this started to happen. Running stock ROM since day one, using ADW launcher. Anyone have any suggestions, aside from a full reset?
OK, so I figured out what was wrong, it seems that I somehow locked the screen, that's why I was not able to add/remove apps.
hy,
Just wondering how to make sure samsung backup and restore the home screen setting via cloud after flashing a new custom rom? Sometime some roms do not have that possibility and also wondering why some developers chose to remove this cloud backup and restore function when cooking their roms.
Is there a way to do that via xml or buildprop settings?
Cheers
x 2, I'd like to know also.
I found that when my phone puts some apps to sleep it causes a few app icons on the home screen to become white.
I discovered that if I backup the home screen launcher in Titanium, I can restore my home screen settings/icons!
I've decided I rly don't want the nav bar. I prefer the Samsung three button swipe up method. How much of my current setup can I get back should I unlock the bootloader to root and therefore factory reset my device?
...Unless there's an option to hide the nav bar without root
Thank you.
For me, factory resetting really isn't all that bad. Been doing roms since 2011, so starting fresh is a reoccurring thing for me.
My important photos/videos are backed up through Google Photos while my SMS/MMS are backed up through SMS Backup and Restore. Everything else, pretty much just login through apps with a password manager. System settings, I go through one-by-one and set them up every single time, but that only takes but so long.
Maybe someone could add some stuff that requires manually backing up those apps specifically?

Thing is that I just set this phone up over yesterday and today... Silly me I guess.

Going to see how this works, give me one sec. Not sure how it works on the latest Android, but it can achieve what you're looking for.

Edit: No go. Dug up the article and now it seems like your only option will be to root, unless someone knows something more.
Google confirms overscan is gone in Android 11, crippling third-party gesture apps
Google has confirmed that overscan is not present in Android 11. This change will cripple third-party navigation gesture apps and others.

vivid navigation gestures paired with aospmods is the only way to hide the navigation bar. afaik the setting to hide the navbar within vivid NG doesn't work. need root
I could be completely wrong with what you are after regarding the swipe options, but try this for the 3 button navigation. (Translated from Dutch, so menu might look a little bit different)
Settings > System > gestures > system navigation
Here you can disable the swipe, and enable the 3 buttons option.
I'm using the Xposed Edge app to hide the navigation pill. I also have the None Display Cutout module installed which, in conjunction with the Xposed Edge app, I can toggle the Status bar too.
