I was wondering is it possible to have a stock dialer in a sense rom? since it is already built in and just modded by Sense...
I checked few dialers on the market but they all seem to be Ehhh at best. and i dont want to change my home laucher.
i read a few of these similar threads for other sense phones on this forum and few others but couldn't find any answers...
mostly i like the in-call screen...

I have been trying to find a way to do the same thing.
Has anyone even figured out a way to edit the Sense in-call screen where we could add a button for Bluetooth and other things like the AOSP in-call screen?

I have tried searching for this and come back with no results or results that I cannot follow, so I was wondering if someone could put this in plain english for me. I want the people app on a fully functioning ROM, and cannot seem to find any available for a 32b. The ones I have tried that work natively (wi-fi, bluetooth etc) have the home screen loading problem and a lot of force closes, and the ones without the loading etc have problems with wi-fi etc. The only real reason for wanting the Sense UI is the people app, as I can have a slight Sense mod with enoch's theme for cyanogen, but the people app is what I would really like, for the facebook functionality. Is there anyway of getting this into a useable ROM? Thanks
Anyone have any ideas?
its completly dependent on the SENSEUI framework, it wont work on anythitng but sense roms...sorry...
Ah I figured that would be the case. What about the taiwanese SenseUI update for the Magic. Any chance of porting the framework for that or just having the bits necessary to run the People app?
no because its still a sense build. lol. there are some 2.0 roms out there though if you are rooted. 2.0 has auto facebook integration with your contacts as well
Thanks for the heads up, yeah I am rooted, rocking CM at the moment.
yeah try some 2.0 roms i know there are like 3 or 4 floating around, arent 100 percent stable and you cannot use your camera on them though..
Firstly for those thinking, "just get DarchDroid! It's already AOSP," I would first like to explore this option. I like Sense UI, just hate the lag associated with certain Sense apps and would at least like to try the AOSP versions before completely switching to a new ROM.
I did some searching, but couldn't find any sure apk's that will work on a CDMA Hero. The closest I found was some working for the EVO 4G (here), but I don't want to risk it not working on the Hero.
Is it possible for someone to pull some apk's from DarchDroid ROM and have them work on Sense-based ROMs?
Suppose there are working apk's, will they replace or coexist with the HTC apps?
Thanks in advance, and I apologize if this was already done.
Edit: found some apk's!
Edit 2: apparently I suck at searching; there was another thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667715#7 but at least my thread has the DeskClock.apk
I feel your pain, or at least I did. I liked sense but hated all the lag such as the lag when scrolling threw contacts and SMS. All those little small areas where it would lag drove me crazy. I tried installing the apks from darchdroid but it didn't work so I searched it up. Got the same results as you. I had no choice but to go with darchdroid but I am more than satisfied now. Throw launcherpro on it and you wont regret it. AOSP is like a simplified less flashy version and I love it. I hope some one has a real answer for you though because I'm curious myself. Good luck.
Oh. If you do end up trying darchdroid, try out gomorrah's blackmod theme for it. It's sick.
Well, I managed to find the AOSP messaging app when I wasn't even looking for it! Go figure. It was in a thread talking about keyboard lag. Some claim that for texting, using AOSP messaging app has much less keyboard lag than the HTC messaging app. For those curious, it's here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6309233&postcount=6
Oh and it looks like it replaces the HTC messaging app; they cannot coexist.
Edit: It also occurred to me that flipz included the AOSP alarm as part of his AOSP lock screen fix!
Much less lag. The messaging app is the only one that worked when I tried replacing them though. The phone and contacts apps were giving problems. I didn't know what to do so I just went with darchdroid. If you like sense, maybe there is a way to add it to an AOSP ROM. Maybe you can just try installing the HTC Sense launcher apk on darch's ROM.
Before I begin, I want to let everyone know I searched endlessly for the problem I'm having and have found absolutely nothing. I'm hoping someone out there can help solve this problem for me. Also I'm posting here rather than any other section because it seems as though I would get the best help here.
I downloaded all of fresh's different vanilla clock options and tried them all individually making sure to wipe data/dalvik cache and haven't been able to achieve the results I'm looking for. Here are the problems:
1. His vanilla lock screen works but not when I receive calls, only when I turn off/on screen. When I receive calls I get the standard Htc lock screen. I've tried everything I can think of including using root explore to remove factory lock screen and also going in through the adb shell. Both ways seem successful until I get a call and realize I have the same problem all over again.
2. The second problem is that the vanilla clock on the lock screen is blurry and doesn't look the way it supposed to. It's black instead of white and very faint. I've found a way to get rid of the clock in the lock screen but would rather have one.
Basically I'm trying get the vanilla lock that's in darchdroid 2.7 or one that operates in that manner and looks the same. I'm assuming that that's the original unmodified/themed vanilla lockscreen.
Oh, and all this time I thought all those vanilla lockscreen mods (JsChiSurf, flipz, and the Gregalous's metamorph) handled calls this way!
I would also like to see this. Just a pure AOSP lock screen with all the looks and functionality of the original.
I'm confused my clock in the rotary aosp lockscreen is white and when I get a call the arc from the HTC lockscreen comes up but that's what's in the frameworks. I don't know what darchdroid looks like cause I've never tried it. I prefer sense roms.

I prefer Sense based roms as well after having numerous problems with dd 2.7 I ran out of patience. Plus fresh is running incredibly smooth for me. But the vanilla lock screen on that rom is neat because it's made so that it comes up all the time in similar fashion to phones that come stock with vanilla such as the original droid. This means that when you get a call to answer/unlock the vanilla lock screen comes up as well. No Sense lock whatsoever. Also I believe that it's themed so it's not completely clear but only semi transparent so that you can tell the lock screen is there. Lol I'm probably not doing a good job at describing it and don't have any screen shots since I"m not using dd 2.7 anymore.
Below is a thread from a while back about putting aosp apks on Sense based roms and you (Papa) have a post that you signed the zips so that they could just be flashed on instead of pushed. I wonder if this is possible with the vanilla lock screen? I figured if anyone would know it would be you or jschisurf. I extracted dd 2.7 rom and looked through the individual files for the lock screen but since I don't know what I'm doing (I've programming illiterate) I didn't see anything.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667715&highlight=aosp+apk
It will have to be done differently. Its not an app. Its in the android.policy file in the frameworks folder. I'm not great at classes.dex edits. IR bet is to ask jschisurf. He's the man when it comes to those edits
Should I send him a pm along with a link to this thread then?

You might want to check out WidgetLocker if you haven't heard of it. It's $1.99 and really customizable.. here's the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732986
And here's a video review of it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9InDlQTy5lY At 5:15 it looks like you can get the exact AOSP lock functionality as well as static wallpaper. Then it's just up to you to find the clock widget you like..
Ok thank you. I will pm him and see what happens.

c00ller, thanks so much for finding this app!!! I downloaded it already and it's awesome! The only thing I wish it could do is replace the answer call drag down bar as well which is part of what I was looking for. This is great though! I wouldn't have know about it otherwise.
No prob I'm actually thinking of getting it myself. I agree though, it would be perfect if it also showed slide to answer a call

is there any way to make the receive call the same as the lockscreen?
The in call lockscreen is mutually exclusive of the standard lockscreen, and thus why deleting HtcLockScreen.apk has no impact on the in call lockscreen that displays.
The problem is, the in call lockscreen is controlled by Phone.apk. If it were possible to simply load the AOSP Phone.apk, it would likely work, but I don't think it is that easy, as there would likely have to be major "surgery" to the .apk to integrate into the HTC framework, etc.
The other option is to try and take the elements of just the AOSP Phone.apk file that control the in call lockscreen and incorporate them into our (HTC Phone.apk). Either way, a lot of work, I'm guessing, would be required to make it happen.
So, long story short, this isn't technically a lockscreen issue at all, but a Phone.apk "issue" to address, if possible.
I haven't taken the time to see what it may involve, and haven't even tried to see if an AOSP Phone.apk would load, out of the box (doubt it), but that's the starting point for anyone interested in tackling it.

By judging from your work i can see that you are quite good at these, would you mind if you could help us out? i guess a lot of people would want this
Jschisurf, thank you for your feedback! I knew if anyone might have an idea it would be you based on the numerous threads involving your work. I wish I could take what you said and begin tackling it however, I've got no skill in this area. The most I could do is offer you or anyone who can do this a small donation to tackle it and can get it working. However, that being said, I can't imagine how much of a pain in the ass this would be based on what's involved so I'm not going to push it.
I've tried to load aosp phone.apk in past but no go
ive got cyanogen 6.0 on my phone and its been working great. the only thing i want to change is i want my old calendar app back with the better looking widget as well and also i liked the sprint 2.1 in call phone user interface, you know the one with the long red endcall bar and just a speaker and mute button. i just dont like how the cyanogen mod phone user interface looks. and the calendar is a piece of crap compared to the original one that came with my phone. is there a way to get these back, but keep everything else cyanogen? i tried downloading a zip of the 2.1 software and moving the calendar apps into the cyanogen zip but it kept making me force close because there was a problem with the com.calendar.whatever file. can anybody hook me up?

Not going to happen for a while. What you're describing is Sense UI, which is not available yet for 2.2 Heroes.
Check out pure calendar or smooth calendar. As for the phone I prefer asop's because I no longer hang up on the caller with that huge end button.

The closest thing you can get to Sense Widgets is LauncherPro they have comparable widgets to re-Sense your phone as far as the dialer fo-get-about-it

Not entirely true ... DialerOne (free in the market) is a very Sense-like dialer in terms of T-9 searching for contacts, and actually is more expansive because of their swiping menu options. Check that out for a Sense dialer replacement.
Hi, I'm quite new to putting a new rom on my phone, but so far loving the results but just have a couple of questions if anyone can help??
I have just installed an ICS rom, and I quite like the simple weather widget it comes with as stock, is there a Digital Clock widget to match it, I cant seem to find one, but I am sure I've seen one somewhere.
And secondly, is there a tweak somewhere that will allow me to have Wake On Volume keys?
There is not one in the settings maybe there is a downloadable one somewhere?
Thanks

Widgets in ics are more or less a problem right now. There are only few, because until there is a stable version it will be held as clean as possible. You can use any widgets from market not made for a special launcher. Try Android widgets pro, even if it had no digital clock though.
I think cm9 is the only ics ROM with volume key screen on, even if I'm not sure whether it's supported or not.
But there are other non-ics roms supporting that feature. I'm using endymion 3.4 and always waking up my screen with volume keys. On cm7 there was the same feature for sure.
