In my brand new HTC Desire I found an essential problem when trying to broadcast seminars to Bambuser or Ustream.
THE BLUETOOTH MICROPHONE DOESN'T WORK - and the phone's mic gives too little volume from 5-10 m distance. I never have has that kind of stupid problem with my Nokia 5800 or even with the old Communicator.
I've tried to find some pluetooth widget or app to open the mic line for video streaming. I've looked for solution from Bambuser. And I've contacted HTC.
But this seems to be a challenge of the Android 2.2 developers.
Ofcourse I can skip my new Desire and go back to Nokia. Their N8 has a fantastic camera and the Bluetooth mic works as always.
But I think Android developers are interested in all those millions of mobile broadcasters:
Please give them (and me!) the bluetooth voice and get their voice!
Inspiring Interactivity!

Does anyone have experience with the Parrot CK-3100 bluetooth carkit ?
I was about to go for the new Sony Ericsson HCB-300 unit when I encountered the Parrot. Featurewise it looks like a great unit, but I am interested in anyones experience using this unit.
What is the sound quality ? Are all features (like caller id etc) usable with the MDA/XDAII ...
Thanks !
Taco
Hi there,
I have recently fitted the CK3100 & have to say its been really good. It integrates with the vehicle, just like any other professionally available car kit.
That's the good news - the bad news is the XDA II (in all its guises) - still the age old problem of the lack of car kit profile means that the functionality is limited.
Yes, it does pair with the CK3100. Yes it will send and receive calls. What it won't do is make any proper use of the LCD display, nor will it allow access to the address book on the PDA.
In short, it will interact in the same way as it would any BT headset - because that is what it thinks its talking to !
If I use the car and need my handsfree - I have to muse my old Nokia 6310i - which works perfectly - allowing full use of the LCD screen and 100% access to all the data on the phone.
You may wish to check out the other threads on this site regarding the known and ongooing problem with the BT stack on the XDA II.
It's really pathetic that my old nokia beats the more advanced XDA II hands down when it comes to BT integration.
best of luck
Redz
Redz,
Have you tried installing the Pocket Bluetooth tools (http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html) to create a carkit profile in the XDAII ?
I've ordered the Parrot and will receive it later this week.
A slight diversion
I hate hijacking but any of you guys know how to get the Motorola car kit to answere calls. O2 blame Pocket Windows 2003. MS blame Motorola. Making calls is fine but answereing is a no no so Ive to call callers back when on the road. Any ideas

Phone only, and just using a headset profile, without the option of adjusting the volume which results in (too) loud sound, causing echo.
I have recently purchase a SONY DR-BT20NX stereo wireless headset that is SUPPOSED to work as a hands free head set too. It's not behaving and wondered the following:
Does anyone run one of these and can advise?
Are there know problems with BT Stereo headsets on the Trinity that require tweeks?
It seems to be OK when playing music but when set as a hands free unit the phone will not ring, it will only sound in the earphones. It will not respond to an INCOMMING call only an outgoing one. NONE of the advance functions work when making or taking a call so I have to use the buttons on the PDA!
When used as a stereo headset it does seem to stop start and pause music ok from the button on the headset, and even skip to the next track. But as mentioned, NO functions work from the button on the BT headset when a using the phone, let alone the advance functions the thing is supposed to offer.
This is the second unit I've tried as I returned the first one to the supplier as I thought it was faulty as it was do too many stupid things.
Thoughts chaps...?
Sorry not much help with your specific model but I can report that the Trinity works well with the SonyEricsson HBH-DS970 both for audio and to manage phone calls. All buttons work properly.
Are you sure your model supports the Handsfree BT profile? I thought all phones and phone accessories were part of the SonyEricsson joint venture portfolio and Sony would not produce phone accessories under its own brand.
Read this, Sony BT20NX worked seamlessly (both A2DP and AVRCP) on Wizard :

@Anonimo
I did think the same way you are, until i see it myself on a store shelves... I really don't understand why either...
Anyway both DS970 and BT20NX have necklace design... or you may called it "gene"

I tried this in one of the stores and found that it was NOT working properly with my Trinity (WM6 Rom). It was skipping horribly. Gave up after 5mins of trying. The square design of the center piece makes it looks like it came from the 90s.
Anyway, I tried the http://www.itechdynamic.com/en/products_spec.asp?cid=2&pid=02050 I-Clip Radio and it worked out of the box (Flawlessly). Even the Cyberion Voice commander (for handsfree dialing through wireless bluetooth) works beautifully. Bought it after 10mins of trying, used it for 5 days now ... no regrets! It comes with a 3.5mm audio socket so you can pair it to your favourite Sony EX headphone or the over priced Shure headphone. Sound quality is unbelievable. Try it ...
Just wondering if MIZZO1628 eventually got Trinity working with the Sony DR-BT20NX earphones? I really like the look of these, and am willing to do some reg hacking if necessary - but not if its going to be a dead end...
I also have the Sony BT headphones, and they have always been a problem with every rom (HTC Wizard included) that I have used.
I nearly always must edit the registry to listen to music, and the phone call function only works for outgoing calls.
I should have known better than to buy something with 'Sony' on it, but there was a recommendation elsewhere in this forum.
Hi All,
Is there a way to make my Android phone (whatever it is) as an bluetooth headphone/headset?
I'll try to explain it in other words. I want for example route all my PC AUDIO STREAM (IN/OUT) to my Android via Bluetooth and manage it from Android.
So the end configuration would be an Android as an headset able to stream the audio from Android's Mic to my PC and to receive an audio from PC.
Same thing as between two Android Phones.
I mean, when i'm receiving a call, it would be nice to forward that call to another Android phone via bluetooth because the other Android phone will be like a Bluetooth headset.
I'll really appreciate all kind of suggestions.
Thanks
Francesco
i was actually thinking of the same idea last night..but i couldnt find any app that could stream audio from my pc to the phone..
may be i didnt searched enough?
I am also searching for something like this.
Did you find an app that could do it?
I did some searching both online and in the market myself and couldn't find anything related to these purposes. I would like an app for this so that I can lay in bed and watch a movie without disturbing others with the audio. I could just listen to headphones through my Droid X.
The most likely software developer to develop something like this, and has yet to make any smartphone appearances is Soundflower. I love Soundflower on my mac and it makes so much sense that they would develop an app for something like this.
i'm looking for app that will enable my phone to call(and make conversations) trough other phone via bluetooth.did anybody come across such app?
Hi, digging up, I was looking for this kind of feature to watch movies fullscreen VLC on my desktop computer from my bed, without having to buy meters of extra headphone cable or a wireless headphones.
I came accross Jamcast which uses wifi network instead, but it's much too complicated, laggy, and expensive shareware.
Bluetooth is the way to go, but we need to be able to use android as a bluetooth headset.
Anyone got news ?
I'm also interested with doing this. Found any app for this purpose?
I've searched for a while, and found none.
BUMP. this could save me from buying expensive headset which can't even last 1 day!!!
Someone custom-implemented the needed Bluetooth role
It looks like some Android device has custom implementations of both A2DP sink role and HFP hands free unit role. I can't post links yet. Google this:

I have a Sony Bluetooth Car Stereo BT MEX 3600U. If I get a call the stereo will change the CD or FM Radio to the ringing for my phone, I would like to do this with Notifications as I need to know when I get a text. I'd like to also be able to do the same when I am using Google Maps Navigation. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to know. I may also use it for part of my Software Development Degree.
I second this. My Honda Civic's bluetooth does the same thing. It notifies when you get calls while listening to the radio, but you have to change input to bluetooth audio to hear message notifications and GPS. I would love to hear turn-by-turn GPS while using the radio.
Though I feel like it's something on the car's side that has to change.
IDK, I would have thought that you could merely spoof the phone into thinking its recieving a call or it may even be a simple case of channeling the Audio through a different output. I can't see much detail online but hope this thread may get some answers.
Simon
Been researching. Sounds like the car stereo has to be bluetooth stereo audio and hands free compatible. But most car stereo are only hands free compatible.

Possible answer but not fix. I know it's for an iphone but it seems like it's the same problem.

In order to overcome the "handsfree mode only" you can use the BTMono: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5iZWRvaWcuQlRtb25vIl0.
hmmm thats very interesting but it seams like I just need to force the Audio not to pass through A2DP and instead Use the Phone protocol.
If someone has an APK of the BTmono App It would be very helpfull as Google has locked me out of my account on Playstore
It seams the exact same problem as my stereo will play my phone music if it it set to BT Audio Input. However, It will Always play phone call ringtone.
Edit : After a little research, My Head Unit utilises A2DP for Music, and HFP (Hands Free Profile) for Phone and ringtone.
If I can Modify the route the Notification is sent, from A2DP to HFP then it will work perfectly.
Why has this gone dead !!!!
I've gotten a new stereo about a month ago and everything comes thru my radio even when I have it on Pandora mode it dims he music and my navigation thru the phone comes thru plus my notifications and ringtones that I have set in my phone its a JVC kd-s79bt... Is there anything I can offer to help solve I'm running venom 1.20 and zrboz newest kernel... You can control the head unit thru an app called smart remote its for JVC or kenwood decks with Bluetooth maybe the apk can offer some insights???
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
That's interesting I might have to see if It is worth buying one of these for my car, Far less effort
You guys are right.. I connect my phone to my ford sync focus and my phone rings but no notifications... Making an app would hurt would it

therion0, I think it would be possible but I am not a dev so if any one could help make this a reality, this thread needs to have a few developers on board.
Microsoft Windows Phone 8 can do this
My friend has a Nokia Lumia 920 running Microsoft Windows Phone 8 and his phone does this. His car actually says "In Call" when his phone reads notifications to him (and then waits for spoken commands to act upon them).
Why can't Android?
Here's my woe:
I want to be able to play my FM Radio (or CD, or USB stick - just any audio source I choose in my car) and hear Google Maps Navigation over my car spearkers. Currently I can do that if I listen to BT audio and listen to music from my phone.
My work phone is an Iphone 5s and it does this flawlessly because there's a checkbox option in google maps navigation settings "Play as Phone call" which allows it to work flawlessly. The Android app doesn't have that option. Why is that?
I have tried SoundAbout and it's terrible. Half the audio plays on the phone then it switches to my speakers and is terrible and skips words. As for other apps, I've tried BTmono, I've googled my fingers to nubs and tried every setting (turn off multimedia on the phone, on the car etc).
I'm wondering if I root this phone can I fix this at all? Or is there an alternative APK of maps with that option (maybe beta or something)
(Also can you get Google Now voice to go over the car audio like the iphone voice commands does natively, Google Now requires it to be in BT audio source as well.)
I also know this is not car specific because I tested it with a VW Passat with my phone and a Samsung Galaxy S5 and Motorola Droid something or another my coworker owns and it behaves the same in his car as well as mine.
This feature is absolutely frustrating and a dealbreaker for me. I'd happily just use my work phone in the car but anything on that phone is subject to FOIA from the general public. No thanks to that. I asked in another forum and they said it's because the iphone doesn't do a2dp or bluetooth audio out or whatever but that's not true, my iphone does play music over the bluetooth audio source. And I realize the iphone isn't as sophisticated, I'm android through and through, which is why this is making kittens cry blood for me.
Please help me. And Thank you so much for even reading!
Info:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy s6 (lollipop)
Car: 2012 Camry (No entune).
I've come back to the forums for this exact problem you are describing. I believe it's true that for Google Maps voice prompts, the iPhone will indeed route them using HFP (hands free protocol) to mimic a phone call, so your car will lower the radio volume and let the voice prompt through. As far as I can tell Android has no such similar feature, and yes it's annoying as heck. Since Google Maps works on iOS but not on Android, I can only conclude that this is some oversight by the Android team, or perhaps some kind of hardware limitation that Google doesn't think is worth spending money on.
I'm a bit surprised that after all my internet searching, this problem hasn't made a big enough fuss to get to Google's attention.
I wish they would fix this and am surprised more people are not making a fuss about it
I have made an app for that. It's called AudioBT on Google Play...
Two Years Later
And this is still an issue. And when connected to my truck via bluetooth it won't give voice directions through my phones speaker either. Hard to convince someone Android is better than ios when something that works so well with an iPhone doesn't work at all with an Android. Please fix this!
