[Q] Help with Superuser, Universal Androot and Root Explorer: n00b here! - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hello all,
I want access to the data-directory on my HTC hero, with android 2.1.
To do this, I heard I need to root my phone. This I tried with Universal Androot 1.6.2 beta (and other versions). After a little fumbling, I thought I had it working, because it installed Superuser on my phone. But, when I then installed Root Explorer and opened it, it told me there was an issue with superuser and that it could not obtain root access.
So I think rooting my phone did not work. How can I check??
And, if rooting did not work and I cannot use Universal Androot to do this, is there a simple explanation how I can root my phone, but keep my standard android 2.1 rom?
I hope anyone can help me!

[Q] Android 2.3.1 Tablet - Gingerbreak not working

Hi, I have a 8" Tablet with Android 2.3.1 and Samsung S5PV210 processor.
I'm trying to gain root access, but I'm having particularry hard times doing it. Basically, I found I don't have the su command neither inside system/bin nor system/xbin directories.
All the root methods (I found till now) are based on a .bat file, but fail because su: command not found.
Gingerbreak fails too, it stays forever spinning trying to root, it crashes when I rotate the tablet; sometime, once every 5 attemps, it reboot the tablet, but fails to root it :\
What can I do, where can I find mor info on the rooting process?
Tnx.
exact same problem.... no one with a solution ?
Cant beleive no one answered this one yet

Might want to try reading through this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
If you can't find the answer there, then ask in that thread, those people know best how that method works.
I had the same problem... i tried them all, z4root, androot, gingerbreak, and super one click to no avail... I then stumbled on SUPER ONE CLICK 2.2 and it rooted first try no problem..
the S5PV210 CAN be rooted
I looked for three days trying to find a way to root this Chinese Samsung tablet knock off. Finally I used Super Click 2.3.3.0 You can find it at download.cnet.com
Download and unzip the file. I unzipped it to a USB stick -- just to make it portable.
You only have to connect the tablet to an XP computer with a USB cable. Then you must load the driver for the tablet when prompted by Windows. The driver has been provided for you. Just browse to the drivers folder in the unzipped software. Then run SuperOneClick.exe Click the Root button. Done.
Trust me. Skip all other advice. Nothing else could be easier than this.

[Q] Creative ZiiO 10 Android 2.2 Build Number 2.00.14 Root

Hi friends, I have a ZiiO 10 tablet with android 2.2 and build number 2.0.0.14 (latest), want to root it, i've done everything in this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15903421&postcount=5
I've tested this solution with many versions of Superuser and SuperOneClick, but when the root done, sometimes a notification told me to "#update su binary" when i click update, it said fails, I want to use ProxyDroid application on my tablet, this application needs root to function, but when i open it, the tablet hangs up !
Anybody can help me with that ?
Wich SuperOneClick version will i use ?
Wich Superuser version will i use ?
I think there is something wrong with this tutorial ...
up........
You could try z4root on a Froyo device. It's a bit older, but works well for me.
Without running into a NAND lock, I've never had a problem using SuperOneClick to be honest, and I recommend it to just about everyone. Provided you have the correct drivers installed on your machine and your NAND/bootloader lock is open, I haven't had a phone that doesn't work with it yet.
Good luck!
z4root don't work for me , another solution ?

[Q] HP 8 G2 (HP 8 1411) Root

Hey all. I've been unsuccessful(UPDATE: now successful) in getting my new tablet rooted.
Its an HP 8 G2 (1411) tablet. Ive tried SRSroot, towelroot, cydia impactor and root genius....all have failed misersably.
The 1401 at least gets rooted but has that restart problem....this one doesnt even get that far.
Anyone have suggestions on how to crack this baby? Its on kitkat 4.4.2
So I was able to get this rooted with NO REBOOT ISSUE!!!!
I downloaded PDAnet+ from play store and for the PC. It loaded a daemon on my tablet but was unable to root (took forever). Once done I downloaded KINGO Root and it successfully rooted my tablet in minutes. Root Checker verified SuperSU permissions granted all good to go. Hope this helps others.
YOU MUST INSTALL PDANET AND TRY ROOT THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. IT SEEMS PDANET PREPS THE TABLET FOR KINGO TO SUCCESSFULLY ROOT!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks this worked great
Thanks for the great information and advice. Worked for me. I installed the PDAnet+ on the HP Tablet and then I installed Kingo Root on my computer, set the tablet to developer mode, etc and it rooted within 5 - 10 minutes.
Now the tablet can at least do many basic requirements such as using a proper file explorer, being able to move files to the SD card directly from the tablet and lots more.
I am going to test installing Apps to the SD card.
Questions:
1) Do you know any custom roms we can add on here, such as CyanogenMod
2) Let me know any cool root tweaks or apps you recommend.
Thanks and keep up the great work
step by step
can you please post the step by step and proper doing this? im afraid to bootloop my device since its my 2nd tablet... i really love this tab... i hope you will help me.
Easy!!!!
I have an hp 8 g2 1141 and I rooted it with the latest version of kingoroot without any issues .......... try it!

[Q] how to root Hipstreet Phoenix (android 4.4.2)

Hi, I need help on rooting my Hip street Phoenix tablet. I'm very new to android so I need lots of help.. Thanks.
Hello?
Anyone
Kingo root worked for me
Kingo root got stuck on Waiting for device...
I couldn't get it to work until I deleted android USB devices and then installed the android SDK, drivers were recognized before the SDK but kingo root wouldn't run until I did the SDK thing
I also have the same model(Hipstreet Phoenix), and I success on rooting it. for kingo root maybe check if you had enable USB debugging,
if it still does not work, then try install king root(is not the google play store,
download link:res.kingroot.net/msoft/webapp_kingroot/image/KingRootTrunk_105001.apk
1. download it than install the apk
2. open it(the only issue is the main screen and intro is in chinese, english video link:youtube.com/watch?v=Kzv75LQ1SlQ
let it install the root component(if is not rooted yet), on the upside the rest of interface is in english(including the request for root permission window)
and sorry about the links being in plain text.
hopefully this help.
KingGo
KingGo worked for me with no problems, Make sure that USB Debugging is enabled and Unkwown Sources is enabled. My Tablet is the 16GB version and has KitKat- still no problem with KingGo. Now I need A good Custom Lollipop ROM- anyone have one?
Mobogenie
I was advised to use Mobogenie by another member of this forum it was very easy and worked quickly. One button push to root.
