Can you activate a Sprint Touch Pro2 on PagePlus?
Mine is Security & SIM unlocked, currently using an AT&T SIM card. Wonder about combining it with PagePlus on the CDMA network. That doesn't use a SIM card does it? I switched my network setting to CDMA only, and activated my phone on PagePlus and was told to dial *22890 or *228, but it didn't do anything.

Anyone know exactly what you have to do to get a Sprint Touch Pro2 phone to work on PagePlus?
they would have to add the esn or meid to their database and "accept" the phone. good luck soldier.

You just said its SIM unlocked....Pageplus is CDMA only, cannot use a SIM card phone. Mainly verizon and sprint phones on pageplus
Don't waste your time. Ive been trying since the 13th to get VZW to add my ESN to their DB. your best bet is to do an ESN modification.
Page Plus will activate any unlocked CDMA phone. It can't be that difficult. Email their customer service and see what they say.
ACtivated but no data
Sprint Touch Pro2 now activated on PagePlus, but only text and voice. I've used EPST & QPST to alter settings, but can't get data.
Anyone successful at this?

Maybe you should flash a cooked ROM on it and do the Verizon provisioning. That might get your data going...

thanks.

No, I haven't done it. I activated a Verizon phone on Page Plus for a friend a while back, but that is the only experience I have with them.
Maybe put one of the cooked ROMs that is made for Verizon on your phone. That would essentially turn it into a Verizon phone, so I don't see what difference there could be.

I guess that is a possibility as both roms are CDMA. I would research it carefully beforehand. If you can get txt and voice there shouldn't be any reason you can't get data. sd

The Sprint TP2 (which the OP said he was using) is a CDMA/GSM world phone.
Which means it has a SIM card for the GSM radio in addition to an ESN for the CDMA radio.
Just because the phone takes a SIM card doesn't mean it is GSM only.

there is no way we cant find away around this like for metro or cricket. i had a diamond and touch pro with data and mms on metro and pageplus is a very cheap company that doesnt even have a server to begin with. when they activated my phone they got me on file for a samsung flip phone!
I have a sprint touch pro2 what is the deal!

I've seen a couple posts on PPC Geeks where people have got Sprint Touch Pro 2's working on Verizon. I would imagine it's probably the exact same process to get it working on Page Plus.
Maybe you should search for people that got it working on Verizon. I would imagine you'll have better luck that way.
Where to begin. I have a Sprint TP2 that I have unlocked and flashed over to verizons rom and radio. All I need to do now is have it activated on verizon's network. I am getting multiple stories from them.
1. It has to be shipped out to a lab and it will be sent back 4-6 weeks later activated.
2. It's not possible, we only active Verizon phones. Your meid is not being found in your database.
3. Certain departments can add your meid to our database. We can't
4. We cannot activate sprint phones.
I was under the impression verizon had an open network? I'm at the point of frustration. Someone tried to add it to their DB and they said that it wouldn't take. Another person said the department that handles this is not open now and that I would be emailed on monday with a follow up. I now have the number for global activations if anyone needs it.
Can anyone share any hints or tips?
Thank you.
It can be done. People do it all the time. Verizon is just giving you a load of bull. The truth is their techs either don't know the answer, or they're just not allowed to give that info out. It seems like all you would have to do is flash a valid VZ ROM & radio, deactivate old phone, then fire up new phone and do *228 option 1. As long as the ESN is valid and not flagged for some reason, then it should work.
Someone else chime in here. Need more facts
It cannot be done....
Verizon does not allow other carrier branded devices on their network.. nor Sprint. You have to have a Verizon phone from their device list... The system will not allow it.. No manager overrides.. No magical digging.. It can't happen... Tough titties on the purchase.
This is what I'm talking about. . . Everyone has a different answer. I've gotten some parts of the company that say it can be done, while others say it cant. The lower tier tech support say it can't. The higher teir tech support say it can and gave me some numbers. But the dept that can do it is closed till monday.
It's just confusing. Can we get an answer from someone who works with verizon?
Verizon does have an open network. This happened just recently maybe 6 or so months ago. If I remeber correctly the quote I read, "If it has the hardware(CDMA with the TP2 has) it will run on our netwrok.
Make sure the ROM is set to CDMA and run the *228 option it should propt you for everythign you need.

It will not activate as the ESN is not in their database. I had a form, which was to be filled out, signed by your local Verizon store, then shipped with the phone to their "verification" center. Once they "verified" it they told me it would be added to their database. I decided not to jump through all the hoops though, since it was a TP and I now have a TP2 on Sprint.
Now I'm being told Sprint has a hold on the ESN, so I have to get sprint to release the ESN, then I'll be in business.

Thats a load of bull tbh. Sprint is an open device network. As long as your radio supports the frequency they will hook it up. You may have to do the legwork and read a few threads but Sprint nor verizon refuses to hook up a CDMA device. Ive done it myself many times. They will however refuse to support the device or insure it. Basicly you are on your own.
I just got a deal on a Sprint touch pro 2. Bought 2 for 350 cash. Gave one to my brother who is now using it on Verizon and myself on Sprint.
How the **** did he do it?????????????????????????????????
Does Verizon have online chat that pops up on their site?
I've found that the chat people many times seem to know more about what they're doing than people on the phone. But that may just be my experience with Sprint.
IT IS POSSIBLE. I own a Sprint Touch Pro I activated onto Verizon. Verizon employees will always tell you no. Verizon lies to you so you will only buy one of their phones. VERIZON WILL NOT ACTIVATE IT. YOU HAVE TO ACTIVATE IT YOURSELF by calling the phone number *228. When they automated call starts reading out your options press option 3. Then it will ask you for your 10 digit telephone number. Then it will ask you for your billing account password (usually 4 digits). Then the music should play for a couple minutes while your phone is being programmed. Then your phone will reboot and walah complete .
"unfortunatly we are unable to complete your request"
:[
Just to save you some time and grief “it will not work”. If the ESN/MEID is not in Verizon's Data base it cannot be activates. Take this case and point about the open network (Which by the way was ever really stated by the company as being in effect.) If you have and Alltel device it cannot be activated on a Verizon plan.
I understand.

Um... I personally know to be a fact, being as I am a Sprint Repair Tech. There is no way to activate a phone onto the Sprint Network that is not on our list...
Nothing you say will make that any different.. Have a picture of this Verizon phone on Sprint??? Because I know its a load...
I have activated a Verizon Touch Pro on pageplus wireless, they use the nationwide verizon towers and data settings. Page Plus wireless does allow any ESN's to be inputted into their system. Google for more info.
wow. wow. wow. I feel your pain on this issue. all you need s to have the device loaded into VZW dmd(device management database). To do that you have two options: first. you can contact the open device ppl but doing that you'll have to send the phone out for 4-6 weeks. or two you can pray you find a way to contact the marketing team where they can load your meid into the database. after that you're set.

you should take some memory pills because what you remember is very wrong.
read http://mobile.engadget.com/2009/01/06/verizons-open-hardware-compatibility-list-is-insanely-boring/ and http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/Verizons-Open-Development-Initiative-So-Far-Its-A-Joke-100102
For those of you out there that are planning on buying a Sprint Touch Pro to use on Verizon's network, the switch over instructions on this site are no longer valid. Go to the last few pages and you'll see why. The phone can NOT be activated on Verizons network any longer. The *228 option 3 hole has been plugged up. Apparently they figured out how to piss us off again earlier this week.
If you have a Sprint Touch Pro that's already on the VZW network, you're safe for the moment. Just don't attempt to switch phones and then try and go back to using your Sprint branded Touch Pro. It just flat out won't activate.
Some have rumored that they have been able to convince Verizon to add the ESN from their phone to the VZW database, but it doesn't sound like many have much success with it.
It can be done, I do it all the time via *228. You need to reprogram the phone with the correct EPST & MSL codes. A few times I've gotten a message saying the automated system cannot activate my phone and I was forced to talk to a rep to get them to activate it, but they usually don't give too much hassle.
After much searching I found lots of 'no you can't's, but I haven't found any posts that are recent, ...in the last 6 months.
I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 that I successfully got working on Page Plus. I would like to get it on my folks' Verizon family plan. I called an agent and they said if it doesn't have a Verizon logo on it, it's not possible.
I question this, but I've found no one of late posting about this.
I think the phone will work on Verizon, it may just need the ESN number activated on their network.
I remember someone here or at PPCGeeks activated it for me on PagePlus, is there anyone/any way to activate it on Verizon?
I like the phone, I just don't need data, so I don't want a regular Verizon phone.
thanks,
Yes, you can get it activated on VZW... The only problem is this... you can't do it legally or ethically... It would involve doing things against VZW's rules as well as the law... and you would need a "broken" TP2 (or other VZW phone) to do it... But that aside... the reason it worked with PagePlus is because they allow outside phones on their network, with giving you the responsibility to make it work on their network.. VZW is vey explicit that they will NOT allow anyone elses phones on their network (same with Sprint)... They are the worse 2 when it comes to that IMO..... Sorry to the bad news.... But sometimes that is how it goes.... Maybe you can post an ad on here offering to trade someone yours for the VZW version.. or maybe Craigslist?
Thanks,
Trading for a verizon phone won't work, as then I'll have to get data.
My bottom line question:
I need a smart phone, but I NEVER need data, wifi is always available for me. But I guess there is no way to have an Android phone on a Verizon network, without a data plan?
Not legally anyways, that's one of the downsides to using CDMA, the carrier has much greater control over what kind of phone you use. Thankfully they can't control the Rom/OS you run on it .
You need a Verizon rep that knows what they're doing, it can be done.

Is anyone here using a non-AT&T branded HTC 8X on AT&T with everything working on 2G and 3G? I don't care about 4G for this particular case.
Does Voice, SMS, MMS in both directions, and data work?
Does AT&T detect it as a smartphone and require the right data plan?
Thanks.
Edit: I decided to buy both a Verizon 8X and a T-Mobile 8X to test.
After 4 days the Verizon was detected
T-Mobile one has still not been detected. Will update if it does.

I'm pretty sure you would be able to get 3G with any unlocked 8X but only certain models have LTE radios. You will probably need to add an APN to get you're Data/MMS working 100% and I at least had an issue with tethering (not sure if it is hardware or software related) but other than that you should be golden.
Although obvious, I may as well say it. It should be an unlocked phone.
I'm asking for people with personal experience because Windows Phone is such a pain with APN configuration. I have tried a couple unlocked Verizon phones but they won't work with MMS no matter what I do. There is the generic unbranded GSM version, but that one is expensive compared to the branded ones. Also people are complaining that that HTC connection setup utility is broken on the 8X so I would just really like to know if anyone has actually tested it. I don't want to get the AT&T version because they recognize that one and require a data plan and I don't want one on this line.

Yes. Voice, SMS, MMS and data worked fine. AT&T see it just fine and actually, you will probably see it listed in MyATT after you put the SIM in.
My phone is a C625a which has LTE however, an international unlocked version or a Verizon version will work but only certain models will get LTE because of the radios as mentioned above.

Is your phone a non-AT&T 8X? Or is it the AT&T branded one?
They are detecting it as an 8X?
Like my thread title says, I want to know if anyone is using a non-AT&T branded 8X. I DO NOT want them to know what phone it is because if they recognize it then they will require a "correct" smartphone data plan which I do not want.
I tried a Verizon Lumia 822 but I could not get MMS to work at all. They even removed the internet and MMS apn configuration pages built into WP8. I could use the Nokia app for setting the APN, but even with the correct MMS settings incoming MMS would not work. Outgoing would work just fine and everything else worked.
I just want to know if anyone has a non-AT&T 8X where everything on 3G works and that AT&T doesn't detect it.

I'm sorry that my questions were too confusing for you.
Maybe having it in a list will make it easier for people to respond
Questions:
1. Do you have a non-AT&T branded HTC 8X
2. Does this HTC 8X work 100% with calls, SMS, MMS in both directions, and data connectivity on 3G
3. Does AT&T detect this as a smartphone (Which will force you to have a smartphone dataplan)?

Simply using a SIM card does not mean AT&T knows what kind of phone it is. AT&T does not detect all smartphones as smartphones. They can detect all AT&T smartphones correctly and they have the ability to detect some non-AT&T smartphones, but not all. It's mostly the very popular unlocked models such as the Nexus models. Most other phones aren't in there database and just appear as unknown.
For instance they do not have the ability of detecting the ATIV S. I have one of those running on one of my lines with a $10 unlimited data plan. It doesn't support AT&T LTE, though, but that isn't an issue for the line it is on.
I would buy another ATIV S for this line, but it's too expensive at around $500. There are many 8Xs available for around $250 and I want to see if anyone is using any of those models without a correct data plan on AT&T.

Don't give up. Since you are the only one here did this. Go to your Myatt account page and see which phone is listed there for your line. If it listed as unknown or generic phone, it does not know you are using a Smartphone. If it listed as you are using a 8x, it means AT&T knows your phone is a smartphone. That's what OP wants.
As for OP, unlike WP7, WP8 lets you add data and MMS APNs easily.

I ended up buying both a Tmobile 8X and a Verizon 8X. AT&T hasn't detected either and it's been 3 days. The Tmobile one fully works and the Verizon one can't send MMS.
Verizon removed the ability to set a MMS APN manually and the HTC Connection Setup app doesn't work on the Verizon one. It works on the Tmobile one but I believe it configures the phones using the Phone APN for both Internet and MMS. You don't have access to the Phone APN unless you have a smartphone data plan, but thankfully Tmobile didn't screw around too much with the firmware and I was able to manually enter the connection information for both Internet and MMS.
That was interesting. On AT&T 8x, you have two buttons, one to add data APN and one to add MMC APN.

Yeah the T-Mobile has both Internet and MMS APN options, but on Verizon the MMS APN option was removed with the Portico update and was present but didn't work (didn't save anything) before Portico.
The Verizon Lumia 822 had both internet and MMS options pre-portico and they both saved what was entered but post-portico they were both gone. Nokia has an APN configuration app though that works post-Portico. Unfortunately even with MMS configured the 822 just won't receive MMS. When an MMS comes in it says "Message not found". Sending MMS from the 822 works fine on AT&T though.
Basically Verizon ****s up MMS so you can't fully utilize a Verizon phone on a GSM carrier.
My T-Mobile 8X mic doesn't work when set to speakerphone though so I will need to get it replaced. I found a few people online with the same issue but they found no solution other than replacement.
The 8X is such a mess.
I guess Verizon will use its CDMA network to deliver MMS. So, it is a problem for them to expose the MMS settings for GSM which may hinder the MMS on CDMA network.
Will metro pcs activate the phone on the network? Do I just put my old sim in the op6 and it'll work or do I need to take it in to a store? I know it has all the bands. Just want to make sure it'll work. Has anyone activated it on metro? Thanks in advance guys!
Metro runs off of TMobile towers, so it will work.

Will metro pcs activate the phone on the network? Do I just put my old sim in the op6 and it'll work or do I need to take it in to a store? I know it has all the bands. Just want to make sure it'll work. Has anyone activated it on metro? Thanks in advance guys!

You'll have to call metro pcs to update your IMEI # on the account or go into a store to do it but it will work work any issue. I recommend calling them though as it's free and in store charges you like $15.

Thanks for this! I thought this was the case but wasn't sure. I don't suppose there's a way to do it on their website?

As far as I know only way to do it through their website is with metro pcs branded phones and even then people complain they have issues using the website. Also when you call it is an automated system that will try to do it but once it realizes it's not a metro pcs branded phone, it will transfer you to a person to finish. Wish it wasn't such a pain to change phones, but oh well. Once it's done, phone works perfectly on metro pcs.

Just did it. I had to wait about 10 on hold but once I got a rep he was fantastic! So much so, I asked to speak to his supervisor to tell him how good he was! So to recap on what you, others and myself have learned:
1. Can't use metro website to switch phones (esn aka. IMEI swap)
2. Automated system will act like it will take you through to do it but once it realizes it's not an official metro phone, transfers to a representative.
3. Calling from the phone you're switching from is ok and the call will not be lost in the middle of conversation.
4. You'll need your 8 digit PIN for them to access the account. This is usually your birthday. If you changed your PIN from your bday and don't remember it, you can answer your security question for access (mine was street I grew up on).
5. Have the rep read the IMEI back to you that you initially read to him while looking at it on your phone. It's under settings>about phone>status>IMEI information. Wouldn't want to mess this up.
6. Once you hang up with rep power down both devices. Remove sim from old phone and into new one (assuming they take the same size).
7. Profit
