External speaker? Does it have any way to plug the audio into the car stereo?? 3.5mm audio jack would be nice while the microphone continues to function on the Car kit.
I really want to know if this one has a GPS connection, so I don't have to swap my Holux GM 210 for a BT mouse......
Is this for the XDA or the XDA II?
their connector is suppose to be the same so it should work on both of them

Can you confirm it works with the XDA II?
How does it connect to the XDA II headphone jack?
Does it have an external headphone jack?
(Asking this because I'm currently using an iSound FM transmitter to play MP3 from my XDA II through my car stereo.)
Thanks.
Ed
yes its for the xda2 and has an external headfone jack and gps socket
james
Is this a professionally fitted car kit, hard wired into the power and radio system of the car ?
Also can you tell me what sort of GPS socket it has, I have a Holux GM 210 which has a PS2 type connector??
Cheers
Nick
Anybody can hel with professional car kit
Hey everybody,
I purchased the Prfessional car kit from Expansys for the XDA II and I'm having a few problem I hope someone can help me out.
When I inserte the Pda in the car kit this ared the problems I have fvind:
1 No sound from car kit or pda when screen is tap.
2 No sound from car kit or pda.
3 When the Tom Tom Navigator is saying the ruote non sound from Car kit or PDA
4 When an incomingb call is received swound is hear trought pda notg car kit, whedn you answer the call the car kit start working only to receive call.
5 I've noticed that if i put the headset in the 2.5mm jack at the bottom of the cradle the sound is hear throught the headset and it disconnect the car kit.
Any help would be very helpful.
Send already 2 email to expansys no reply call the they say that I can only contact support by email or forum now I'm stuck do no if it is a fault unit or the car kit work in this manner if it does it is useless.
Regards
Gigi
eXpansis Proffesional car kit
I just had the kit installed and it looks ok. The problem is that the audio is only present when I'm on a call and it's only phone audio. What I need is a way to get the PDA audio (i.e. the navigation speaking) to come through either the car speakers or the speaker included with the kit. The fact that call audio comes through both makes me think there are two problems.
- The first problem seems to be that the kit only passes audio to the speakers when the mute signal is live for the car audio. This wouldn't be the case when listening to pda audio (navigation instructions). This seems more like a problem with the car kit which with a bit of work I could prob. get around.
- The second problem I see is that only phone (call) based audio is passed through the car kit. This problem seems to be more with the XDA. I wonder if there is a registry hack to force all audio to look the same. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS THE CASE? If so I would really appreciate some pointers on this.
I'm using the Navman 4410 BT navigation system BTW.
Thanks,
Lyndon.
i think it is indeed a software problem.
when i first got my xda2 i made my own carkit
1 cable with audio out to carstereo, connection to my gps, connection to the charging unit
sound like mp3 and voice calling was fine
now when i updated the ROM it doesnt work anymore, i know 100% that my carkit is fine.

You made your own XDA2 carkit ?
btw. for the Expansys carkit users: Does it have an GPS-connector ? Some dutch guy at expansys said it didn't. But then again, i had to give him the link before he knew they actually sold XDA Carkits
Hey everyone,
received today the professional car kit for the XDA II from Expansys.
Testing the car kit and compared with the XDA I car kit that I'm using with the XDA II.
With the XDA I car kit only problem is the charging and the tightness of the cradle.
I use the Tom Tom Navigator with no problem sound commes throught the car kit.
The professional car kit fvor the XDA II has a few problems.
No more sound throught the car kit when you ared using TOm Tom navigator.
When the XDA II ring the sound comes out throught thed XDA own speaker not the car kit.
I could listen to MP3 file trought the car kit of the XDA I but notg wwith the professiobnal car kit.
The professional car kit has a GPS connector which is located under the cradle it looks like an RJ11 connector next to that connecttor the is a 2.5 phone connector for the headset.
Now I need to find out whic h gps to use on this professional car kit and well the instruction come out throught the car kit speakers like the XDA I car kit.
Anybody that needs more information for this car kit feel free tho email me.

Gigi

Hi, My car is fitted with Nokia cark112 Bluetooth car kit. It does not connect with Nokia 6300 / XDA Ignito (same as HTC Diamond) / SE Xperia X1. Please help if it is possible in any which way to connect to my Bluetooth kit. Many many thanks in advance.
Hi Guys, Does anyone know of an FM Transmitter for the Desire? Preferably not Bluetooth......
I would like to be able to play music from the Desire on my car stero but the stero doesn't have any ability to plug anything in and I have seen FM transmitters for other phones and would love one however I also use a bluetooth handsfree car kit (not built into the car) so ideally a USB one would be perfect but I am struggling to find one online.
Thanks
Max
You mean like this?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LUPO-Portab...2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1279204004&sr=8-2
That'll just plug into the headphone jack and there are hundreds like 'em around. You can get one as cheap as £3.

Yes like that
I actually found one late last night like that. My mistake was searching for a HTC Desire FM Transmitter rather then just a 'generic' one that works in a headphone port
Thanks. Think I will be getting one of them...
does anyone know if http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Car-FM-Transmitter-HTC-Hero-T-Mobile-MyTouch-3G-/130410380854?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_Mobiles_Accessories_RL&hash=item1e5d107e36 will work on the desire??
Honestly I would avoid the cheap hong kong ones. The aerial in the transmitter is tiny, and you'll get bags of static and hiss. I've wasted money on these before.
Look to spend at least £15 our I promise you'll be disappointed with the sound quality.
The Griffin iTrip auto universal plus is good. Powers from your cigarette lighter so no drop in gain from batteries going flat, and the plug for the cigarette lighter socket has a usb charging output so you can still charge your phone whilst having the fm transmitter plugged in.
There are hundreds of types or there, but my experience is; you but cheap, you buy twice.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Although as far as I know/read, the htc desire chip can also transmit FM. We just need an app for that I guess.
doesn't the bluetooth/fm radio chip in the desire also have a fm transmitter function like in the n900? an app/driver to unlock this function would be awesome
I've been using the following one for quite a while, as I was happy with it.

Now I have an aux input on my car stereo.
