Custom software for Windows Mobile 2003

I am looking for the name of the software that lets you ask where to install a cab file in Windows Mobile 2003. I remember having a program like that but it got removed after a hard reset. Can anyone tell me the name of that program?

Anyone got any clue to the software?
Look for CabInstl by SK Software.
But will this software allow me to pick a location for lets say if I am installing a program from an exe file from my PC? I remember the software I used did something what WM5 and WM6 does by creating a Program Files directory and not creating a folder for each program on the root of the Storage Card.

Stupid folders/shortcuts whens installing .exe

Hi,
Some programs for Windows Mobile come in .exe and not .CAB. So when I install the .exe on my computer it install the program on my smartphone (htc s730). when when i install the .exe on my computer, many folders (under program file etc.) are created. also shortcuts are created in the start on my computer. all this is really annoying. it trashes my computer.
how can i install .exe programs without all those stupid things installing on my computer? i love CAB but hate EXE
thanks
First look at the homepage of the program. Many software sompanies also releases standalone cab's.
Try extracting files from the exe installer (using WinRAR) and you may get the cab (only works with some installers).
Make a collection of your programs yourselfs. Before the installation of the program on the device is finished, the cab is copied to Windows\AppMgr\Install. So just get it from there.
Okay that's good help-
I thank you moneytoo

Installing applications without CAB or EXE files

Help! I've searched the forums and the Web, but could not find anything that shows how to install an application without a .cab or a .exe file.
Sorry for what is probably a very basic question, but then, I'm a total noob on WM!
I'm trying to install a few applications. They all have files such as:
ALARMCLOCK.001
ALARMCLOCK.000
How do I install these on my TyTn II?
those look like the contents of a cab file. you should see an xml file in there as well. if this is a cab file you need to copy it over to your device as the cab file and execute from there. do not open it with winzip or winrar.

Windows .cab installer

I had a program that would let me install .cab files through activesync, the same way we install .exe files
You just draged the cab file on the program, and it would start loading it to the ppc, and a instal popup on the ppc appeared.
I think it was called windowsCE.exe, or something like that, but I cant find it now.
It's called WinCE CAB installer
lol, I was close, anyways, here it is if anyone else is looking for it

creating cab file from skyscape exe?

i've tried all the 10.000 methods in all of the other "how to cab from exe", but none of them seemed to work, now im just curious if maybe its not possible in the type of exe that im installing. What im trying to get the cab of is the medical programs from skyscape. When installing from my computer, it asks for some stuff, like if i agree with the terms etc. etc., and the it also asks what kind of install i want to do.. i select "Trail" and then it proceeds on installing it to my device.. but i cant get the cab anywhere!
does any of you deal with those skyscape files? or otherwise if any of you is interested/bored to give it a try, www.skyscape.com, download any file as a test-drive (trail) and install it as a trail also.. it would help me a lot since im gonna be traveling and i dont drag my computer along all the time, and i want to be able to install my programs in case of i reset my phone.
Thanks, much appreciated!
Could try this Universal Extractor
If you install with ActiveSync, it stores the .cab files that its extracting from the .exe file. So while you're running the executable file, installing the software, go to C:\Users\*YourSySName*\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ActiveSync and see if it is there.
