Golf app for Windows Mobile - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

For everybody looking for a nice golf app with score card and GPS distance, see www wegolf dot net.
Wegolf just sent this mail, that Windows Mobile now is supported:
"Hi,
with the introduction of JavaFX we have now confirmed that WeGolf GPS features will also work on the Windows Mobile models.
This means that by installing JavaFX on your cellphone you will be able to take advantage of all features in WeGolf. See javafx dot com/faq/
RGDS
WeGolf"
I have tested it using my HD2 - and it works very well.... ))

The program looks like ass compared to others I have seen.

Tell me what you have seen working on HD2?
Wegolf works on HD2 - also with internal GPS. And the UI is easy to use.

Mobile Gmaps

Did anyone get Mobile Gmaps to work on the S710?
http://www.mgmaps.com/
I can't get GPS to work with the latest version. I'm using an external BT GPS on Com6. Apparently with older versions people using WM5 got it to work on Com5. Unfortunately I can only choose Com6 and Com7. Perhaps the HTC preinstalled Java VM is no good and we need IBM J9. Some Java environments do not offer COM ports.
EDIT:
Just found some instructions how to run it on WM5 here: http://www.mgmaps.com/winset/
I've got no time today, perhaps someone else can give it a try?
(prolly instead of downloading the CE version you better take this and from the download use Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Edition ARM CLDC 1.1, MIDP 2.0)
EDIT2:
It works great! Got GPS to work with the latest Mobile GMaps version (1.33.09)
The trick was to use IBM J9 and in MGMaps GPS configuration select Settings - GPS - Select Device - Serial
It shows a list of COM ports where my COM6 wasn't listed. Select the right Softkey and select add custom COM port and type COM6.
I love the Mobile Tracking feature combined with Google Maps.
The only thing which doesn't work proper is the compass. The green pointer is not shown most of the time.
The other annoying thing is that many mobile operators require a proxy. I haven't figured out how to bypass this.
For the latest news on this. See:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311001
Basically Mobile GMaps now works fantastic on S710 and the official Google Maps and TrekBuddy apps also work great.

Golf Course Maps on HD2 using GPS ???

hi, the Ipod has an app for golf courses so you cna use the GPS to measure how far away you are from greens etc, does anyone know if the HD2 has a simliar app ??
Theres a few. One here if you search for Golf gps. Then there's Freecaddie which I use because it has free version and I upgraded for cheap. Lastly, theres one from GolfLogix GPS which has an annual fee, but much more user friendly and doesnt rely on users to keep courses updated.
I couldn't get GolfLogix to work on my HD2.
See this thread: http ://forum.xda-developers . com/ showthread.php?t=689114
i use freecaddie for several years now and it's pretty good. i'm just disappointed that the ui hasn't been improved to make it more user friendly. its versions for iphone and android are a lot better. i don't know why this is so since it started as a windows mobile app.
Use Wegolf (and JavaFX). It works very well, and you can map your own courses.
dump question, Do i need the data plan (internet) to use those Golf GPS?
Here's one that's not been mentioned: http://www.gudensoft.com/golfgps/

Navigation software review for HTC Vox / S710

Hi,
i tried several navigation solutions for vox, and here is a little review:
1. Sygic Mobile / McGuider
+ works on WM Standard without additional software (like FakeCoursor)
+ good graphics while navigation
+ no bluescreens (at all)
2. Navigon Mobile Navigator 7
+ best graphics while navigation
+ fast route calculation
- doesnt works on WM Standard without additional software (like FakeCoursor)
- crashes operating system so that you have to do a hard reset.
- doesnt recognize GPS-settings from last use
3. Garmin Mobile XT
+ works on WM Standard without additional software (like FakeCoursor)
+ fast route calculation
- works to slow to navigate, gives hint "turn right" when you already passed the crossing.
4. Route 66
+ works on WM Standard without additional software (like FakeCoursor)
no further testing because i didnt find a "free" map to test
Hope this "little" review helps some people looking for navigation software for vox.
I use an external gps - Jentro BT-GPS-8U.

Nice little compilation.
I am using Garmin Mobile XT and I never found it too slow (except when you're using the preview of turns which then takes too long to switch back to normal view). I have been using it here in Germany as well as in Scotland and it always found a pretty good route (except for a small street on a small scottish island hehe).
I am using a Bluemax GPS receiver.
You forgot to mention Tom Tom which with version 7.915 (I don't remember the build...maybe 9196) has become pretty usable without a fake cursor.
Also regarding my experience...McGuider is the nicer but the less reliable...something you can't thrust in.
GarminXT, is pretty decent to use, and more reliable...as stated by Frauhottelman...sure it isn't the smoother thing you'll see in your life...but, hei, you're running it on a 200 Mhz TI OMAP CPU.
TomTom ...i'm starting hating it...it does whatever it wants...IMO...On my Fuze it simply ignores the settings you set in it...and keep you crossing field roads...LOL.. damn it!
So my 2 cents go for the Garmin.
P.S: Whenever you'll go to the WM Pro platform...my suggest point all theway out for the Igo experience.
Did you test any of these without GPS connected, i´m thinking it could be used as a normal roadmap for finding your way without GPS.
Hey
anybody know why i cant get the device id for my vox in ttnavitor.bif?

[APP] [1st Feb 2010] Aloqa 2.0: Finaly FREE & GREAT location-based info app for WM !!

[APP] [1st Feb 2010] Aloqa 2.0: Finaly FREE & GREAT location-based info app for WM !!
Finally a wonderful location application is available for Windows Mobile. Android & iPhone already had a whole bunch of those applications (Sherpa, Where, Places Directory...)!
Basically, this application tells you instantly every interesting locations near you (cinemas, restaurants, bars & a lot more). It even gives you in-depth look at the given locations (description, reviews, address, phone number). Once you choose a location, you can show it on google maps or automatically make a phone call.
This app is not only convenient, it's also beautiful, slick, quick, finger-friendly and most importantly: free. You can download it from Microsoft marketplace (really?) or through the official website (http://aloqa.com/)
Only downside is that it only works in some countries USA, UK, Austria & Germany...
Watch these videos to learn more:
Official video (funnily in the video, it seems like an iPhone diss, but actually Aloqa is available on WM, iPhone and Android )
Video from Pocketnow
Video from from WM Poweruser (tested on HTC HD2)
Official website
I've tried it but I am having trouble with it. It crashes because I never have WiFi enabled and it tries to enable it on its own... maybe it's an issue with 6.5.x
Forgot to mention that when I finally got it working once, it was really nice indeed. Picked all the cinemas around me with the films and language, really nice
How do you zoom out? Appears you can't scroll around on the HD2, so categories cannot be added.
It's a great and very useful app but it crashes every time after it loads up... i installed it twice yet to end up with the same unfortunate result.

Are you using a custom ROM?
I am not using custom ROM, it is the original ROM from Rogers in Ontario. I install Framework 3.5 too. I don't know what I am missing... I really like the game too. >.<
did not load on my HTC Diamond ( Energy ROM WM6.5.3 ).. same issue as foreverof
You need to switch the descriptions for the download links.
Downloading now
Downloaded and installed the CAB. The game itself works great on my Touch HD, but the options menu isn't working. Other than that it's a cool game! Great work!
I am also Diamond user. It works just fine for me. My rom is Gen.Y D2X R2.6
I have got the same issue like the0ne or foreverof. I hear just a music and my display is black, but touchscreen is responding! But i can't see anything
HTC Raphael WM 6.5.5 Energy ROM
nice work... i appreciate the work of those who try to fresh up the windows mobile game development, cause ms really lamed in this ....
there are not many working games for windows mobile because of different resolutions, whereas android ...
just i moment, ill try it on my hd2 with original european rom
...
wow, works perfect
ill see if i gonna get the pro version, but till now it seems to be a lot of addictive fun !
Thanks to everyone!
We still in "beta" status, thats why Options and WorldWide HighScores are not activated yet. will be soon.
And it's seems that we have some execution problems with Diamond "Energy-ROM" and with 6.5.3 OS version. (i think we must say great "thanks" to Microsoft for some changes in MobileDirectDraw routine in 6.5.3 ) Will check it out and fix as soon as possible!
Wow awesome game, think you can integrate a different control as well? I dont have an accelerator :'( Though i have buttons :$ (SE X1)
Link are mismatched
The EXE link download the CAB file, and the CAB link downloads the EXE file.
Just an FYI!!
Another than that, cannot wait to play with this!
Touch Diamond using BsB's Ultimate WWE rom. Working fine Thanks~
The 75% off link on the website is only giving 50% for some reason.
