Car Mount that fits Desire with Gel Skin? - Desire Accessories

Hey,
I'm looking about trying to find a HTC Desire Car mount that allows me to put the desire in it with the gel skin still around the desire as i dont wish to take it off.
Anyone know of any such mount?!
Thanks

I *gently* used a heat gun on the plastic that surrounds the Desire on the sides and bent/rolled it out slightly to achieve this ;-)

Sounds like an idea.
What mount did you get?

You can offcourse also get a non-desire specific carmount. I have just a cheap general mount in my car, so my girlfriends nokia n95 can fit in it as well as my desire. Should have no problem fitting a gel cased desire in a non-specific mount.

Just ordered..

Looks very much like it's a nexus one dock that they've forgotten to replace all the references to nexus one in the description!
but I'm hoping that it fits anyway.
weirdly they sell 2 different desk docks for the nexus and the desire but the desire one looks a bit sh1t so i've left that alone.
I'll post back if/when i receive the goods

Please do, looking at these myself. Want something that is designed for it and can easily be rotated 90 degrees. Just don't like the look of any of the universal ones.

This looks like it should fit OK and you can rotate the device etc.
AND it includes a car charger all for £6.90

I just thought that one looked a bit chunky as I think its a universal. The other one is more money but is more of the molded kind.
I'll let you know how it is though because a mate has a similar one for the milestone which drops his phone if he accelerates too hard!
Martin Fields protectors are regarded as very good so you can't go wrong with one

Holder to connect to dash mount?

Hey everyone,
Has anyone come across a generic phone holder (my desire lives in a gel case) that will screw on to a dash mount?
I'm hoping to find one that can rotate to allow me to use it for GPS properly?
I know i'm asking a lot lol but it'd be great if it had space for the charger on the bottom too.
Cheers
Anyone ???
Generic holders are always rubbish.
Drop the Gel case and use a Brodit holder.....
hi there dont know if this is what youre after but i sell them at work and i use 1 myself for my desire with a case on and it comes with a dash mounting that you can screw in or use the sticky pad provided

Thanks for getting back
I don't want to lose the case as that's protecting my investment. I don't fancy scratching my phone and it's right pain in the ass to constantly take it out and puttin it back in the case.
Thanks Dave, I'm tracking down the dash mount I saw recently so I can fit it.
Alright. I don't know if you ever found anything. And its been a while but here we go. My phone is protected by a otterbox defender case. And I purchased a suregrip windshield mount for the case from eBay. It sounds to be exactly what ur looking for cause it sounds like what I was looking for.

SlipGrip car mount AND case?

Anyone get this for their Fascinate? Seems to me that the weird thing is the lack of car mounts made for the Fascinate that fit a case.
I found this being talked about in a few forums and thought it looked cool. Comes with a silicone looking rubber case that just slips right into the mount. My question is if anyone has this and is the case that it comes with as big as it looks.

The second link is a video demonstration of the setup with an iPhone, but to my knowledge the iPhone is a rather slim phone. This case sorta makes it look pretty thick. Maybe it's just me... but I was curious to know what others who may have it thought.
It looks cheap and fragile.

While some might think it does... I have been hard pressed to find a good car mount made for the Fascinate. There clearly are universal mounts that would work, but something "like" the SlipGrip is much more form fitting.

The samsung OEM car mount is great. It also has a depression for the camera that you can dremel out in about 3.5 seconds to allow for HD video recording in your race car. If you have not found a "good mount", your not looking or your too cheap

My goal is to find a good car mount that fits a case. I would imagine everyone has a case of some sorts and was wondering what they are using in conjunction with what car mount.
ProClip has an adjustable mount for those with cases. They are not as nice and fitting as the ones made for the naked phone.

Then you select the vehicle mount made specifically for your car.

[Q] CAr holder with case

Hi.
Can anybody reconmend a car holder for a DHD with a gel case on it?
Appologies if this has been covered, but i cannot seem to find any posts that have this info.
Thanks
You probably have to do for a universal one mate. I've been looking for the same thing but can't find anything.
Not sure where you are, but I use a universal one from halfords, allows you to rotate for sat navigation too, a bit snug with the case but it works

I use a Clingo holder and it holds my DHD (uncased) & the wife's SGS with a gel case just fine.
It was about £15 off eBay.
Halfrauds are a rip off. They just repackage Chinese stock.

one of my friend has the same car holder from clingo and its very fine
Just be sure to rinse the pad once a month or so under hot water. Otherwise you'll lose the tackiness on the pad.

I am on the same boat. I have a gooseneck one but its started to become less sturdy. I need one which really holds it in place and on the windscreen as I use the accelorometer for one of the car apps.
I tried arm locking ones aswell but they seem to be prone to vibration even faster.

Best car mounts and holders. Not at all cheap. But they're built specifically for whatever car and device combo you have and are a super elegant, looks like it came with the car, kind of solution.
They have one for the desirehd that charges dock-like, but won't fit it with the case. The "universal" one they have for phones with cases works well. I've repurposed mine from my old iphone. But it doesn't have the dock piece. May have to rig something up.
If it's for DHD with case, I feel universal mounts may well be your only choice.

What is the best car mount for the M9?

Does anyone know if the M9 will fit the official HTC M8 car holder?
It would be great if someone with a test model could give this a try.
I am going to sell my m8 and would be great if I can let people know if I'll be selling it with or without the car holder as I have the official m8 car holder.
The dimensions seem almost the same but since the m9 is ever so slightly smaller from it might be too loose a fit in the car holder.
Anyone able to try this for me?
Massive thanks.
I think the power botton ist a problem. The car holder case from m8 would be in conflict with the botton on the side of the m9
Will there be a official car holder for the m9?
I use my m7 with the HTC car holder and want to by a m9 and a m9-car-holder. All original accessories I found in the www was Covers and so, but not a car holder.
There is a universal Holder official from HTC available in Europa now http://www.htc.com/de/accessories/#!pid=htc-one-m9&acc=htc-car
I got my m9 now, and I tried it with the m8 car holder, and it doesn't fit!
The power botton is not the problem, but the case is a little bit too small and the connector is not 100% at the right place

Thanks for letting me know though.

I've got one of these since having my M7

Disappointed that the dot view flip case doesn't go well in it as its too tight and squashes the hinge and I worry it'll dammage the case...
Is there a best one for the m9?
Or a offical one?
I use the ProClip system in my cars and I have adjustable phone mounts . Even works with a case. I have used this part for my M7 with UAG case, M8 with UAG case and It should work just fine for my new M9. There are 2 set screws you need to adjust.
ProClip is not for everyone as they are pricey for the vehicle specific mount and the phone holder. I have one of these in all 3 of my cars.

I looked at that model, but it would seem that there is no padding? So do you think that it can scratch M9 if used without case?
At the moment I am using a Montar grip, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-S...d=1428490011&sr=8-1&keywords=montar+car+mount
I have to say I am very impressed with it as a grip.
It's the only one I found so far that I can mount on my dash, which does not have a smooth surface.
It feels very sturdy and I am quite happy with it holding my precious m9
Made me think twice whether I want to invest in an official and very expensive htc mount again...
I picked up a ram mount x-grip recently after trying several other generic universal phone holders over the years. I wish I would have found this sooner, its excellent. Great build quality, exceptional stability and holding strength.

I had one of these and no longer use it. After a few uses, it would not stay attached to my vent when trying to remove my phone. The whole thing kept coming off the vent. Nice design but not practical for my use.
i havent gotten my m9 yet but ive been using a magnetic mount from Mountek for a few years with my Nexus and OnePlus phones. It's great and universal. Just need to put a magnet between your phone and the case (if you use a case) or attach the magnet to the back (I don't do this). The nice thing about the Nexus 5 I had was that since it had Qi charging, it already had built-in magnets so I didnt even need to magnetic disc it came with.

Were you using two hands to remove the phone? One on the Airframe and one on the phone?

+1 for Ram Mounts X-Grip. I have what they're now calling their, "phablet" model.
Tired of having to find a new mount each time you get a new phone?
I have used the same X-Grip on my HTC One M7, M8, and now M9. It can even hold my Nexus 7. This may be the last phone mount I ever buy.
I use the NightIze Steelie mount kit, since I HATE clips and brackets (after going through several car mount setups with them)and anything involving more than 1 hand operation (or take too long). Just stick it and go (well...and plug it in to the USB cable for charging).
The mount on the back of my phone does not and has never caused any issues with either my Galaxy S4 (prvious phone) or M9 (current phone), both of which use(d) the same setup. In fact , having a magnet on the back of my phone has been handy in a few cases (like working on something that requires 2 hands and reading directions/watching instructional video on phone). Magnet is pretty strong, so no issues with it falling off mount over bumps or when I go offroad (I have a truck), but a pretty significant jolt (say...moderate a collision with another solid object or falling into a large hole)) would probably dismount it.
Only downsides is I have to be careful not to place the magnet near/on anything that can get damaged by magnets (e.g. credit cards, etc), which has proven to me a non-issue since my wallet and my phone are always pretty far apart (and rarely are both out at the same time).
That said, since I didn't want anything sticking up off my phone, I drilled a hole into my UAG case (for both) for the round phone mount, so its almost flush with the case itself (I put the phone mount in the middle, so I could rotate between portrait/landscape with ease).
So far its been the best solution FOR ME, YMMV: http://www.niteize.com/product/Steelie-Car-Mount-Kit.asp
The Steelie one looks pretty cool.
I want to mount it on my dashboard. Any other good ones for the M9?
