Is there any way of editing the default lockscreen so that new IMs appear the same way that calls and texts do, and are direcly accessible? This would be very convinient.

Hmmm... you may be able to use FlyScreen which is a lock screen replacement that supports widgets on the lock screen. IMHO it's a little awkward to use at the moment but I'm sure it will get better.
Assuming you can find a widget to list these things you could put that on the FlyScreen.

those show the unread count on the app icon, not on the lock screen.

(the one with my exchange account and not gmail)
Is there a way to have the regular email client show u how many unread emails u have??? When I look at settings under launcher pro it only shows Gmail SMS and phone notifications. Would love to have an email notification =)
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Regular email client does show notifications in the status bar at the top. Pull down and there is a count.
thanks. is there a way for that number to appear on the dock?
K-9 has that. It's also a better email client IMHO, especially if you use IMAP folders extensively.
hmm seems as if i dont receive emails on k-9.... thanks though.
launcher pro also gives you the option for notifications on the dock bar...

Guys,
Is there any app or way to change icons for Apps, such as Gmail, messaging and stuff when using SENSE 3.0 ???? I did change them using LAuncher Pro plus, but i have realized that I like HTC Sense more than any other launcher.
Yes, get desktop visualizer in the market. It will work perfect with what you are looking to do.

You can also use Folder Customizer to change icons (and create better looking folders).
And there were plenty of apps that allowed customizing gmail's icon... Gmail label notifier was one of them... Now they are all gone? Removed by Google?

have you tried Lock Screen Notifications for playstore? give it a try...
I use TxMissed for emails, SMS and calls. It is text only but very customizable.

Custom Lockscreens
Hi,
You can try miui lockscreens. I know they can show unread messages and missed calls but I don't have idea if they can show FB and Twitter unread counts. There is a windows 7 lockscreen. i remember it shows Gmail unread count.
I hope this post will help you some extent.
Thanks,
I am using the default email app with an Exchange server account. Is there any way to see a numerical indication of the number of unread messages in the inbox through an icon on the screen? I use the email widget that when pressed, takes me right to my Inbox. In the Samsung world this widget would show the number of unread messages in real time. Can't seem to replicate that with Google's default mail app. Anyway to accomplish this?

You can install a different launcher (like Nova) and it can show you unread count next to the icon.
Any way to accomplish this through DashClock?
