Unofficial HTC Desire USB Car Charger on Amazon:

Now we have Google Map Navigation . I thought I'd Invest on a cheap in car charger.
The one I got was one of the cheapest, with the best reviews plus free shipping.

I already have a Car USB Charger that I bought for my HTC Touch Pro. So with the change from Mini to Micro USB of course this means I need a new one!
Anyway, instead of buying a new charger, I decided to go for the Charging
Adapter Tip from Mobile Fun for £4.97.
I'll post back here a review when I can test it!

Where to get charger plugs?

Hi,
Does anyone know where to get other charger plugs to put on the HTC charger? I would like a US one. You can buy a whole kit of a new charger with all the plugs but that is kinda unnecessary I think.
I would also like the same info, as I would like a euro one and a US one for when I travel. I had 3 'heads' for my iPhone charger, and would like the 'heads' for the HTC charger too.
Any USB charger should work (I use several brands) so perhaps just cheaper to buy a generic american USB charger for a couple of quid off Ebay?
I wouldn't bother buying the charger plug... Just buy a new charger, I bought a Motorola V3 charger from ebay, and it works fine

thats not the same as the UK charger supplied with the phone (which has the USB lead built into the charger)
it is however the same as the HTC charger supplied with the HTC Touch Pro and I can confirm it does charge quick.

This charger comes with alot of UK spec HTC phones i.e. Touch Pro, HD, HD2 etc.
Also this is the same charger that HTC sell with there Universal adapter pack for any HTC phone, but of cause this comes without the extra attachment, cables & bag.
Same as the one shipped with my Hero (only difference is colour)
If you are in need of a wall plug, and do not want to splash out the $20 + p&p to get the official nexus plug from the US, then this is a good deal. Only downside is I only have 1 USB cable for it, so it's easier for me to just charge it from my laptop, or to use a US-UK adaptor with the wall plug the provided with my phone.
thanks bud just ordered one

USB cable from your laptop is not fast charging

Desire compatible chargers

Blackberry micro use chargers are all over the place. do any of these work adequately with our phone? Do they supply enough amps/volts?
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
without having testet this, i'd assume any USB Charger with an output of 5 Volts and 500 mA can do the job. I am using the original Charger, the one from my Sony Ericsson X1 and also a Sanyo Mobile Booster (Portable Battery Charger). They all work well
Charger from the hd2 works fine too! its all becoming very standardised now
Yeah, it's just I heard that certain chargers don't appear to work very well, with some people reporting that their phone has run out of charge when going on long journeys whilst using the phone as satnav - so using cables which employ the correct ampage/voltage could be important.
The micro USB Blackberry charger works fine on my Desire

I just got a 1 Amp one off ebay for about 3 quid. No complaints from me!

Got the link Dave?
i'm using the HTC original charger car charger from my Touch HD, it's 2 amp and charges the phone in no time. Needed to get a mini usb to micro usb adapter from ebay though.
The Blackberry ones seem to be 0.5 amps and take ages to charge.

Sorry, totally missed this. I just put 'usb charger 1a' into the search. The seller was 'arygroup'. It's not as quick as the one it comes with but it's fast enough!
The phone says it is charging from USB, whereas it doesn't with the proper charger. Not sure why yet...
I received my car holder with car charger a few days ago, it is labeled as a Moto.V8, and should output 1.5 mAh.
I don't know if it geniune Motorola charger or clone, always a surprise with eBay
Haven't tested it yet, all I hope is that it doesn't drain my phone while I'm using GPS navigation.
I've read some stories that certain chargers can charge, but when using GPS applications they will drain.
There are a couple of other posts about the same thing. Lets try and keep it to one thread. Better for updates etc
For those in the UK sainsburys are doing a 1amp car charger for 6 quid.
It includes two usb sockets, and is white.
When plugged into my desire, the phone reports that it is being charged by AC, and sat nav dosent drain the battery (in fact it still charges.)

From another thread, it appears that the phone will only draw 500 mA unless the USB data pins are shorted together. A few minutes with a soldering iron and the charger works as well as the HTC one.
If you have any old HTC (Diamond etc) 1A chargers lying around just buy one of the Mini to Micro USB Charger Adapter Converters for 99p including p+p from ebay and use them!
I have run some tests on 500mA chargers and would be interested in hearing how someone else has got on with one (instead of a 1A).
At first I was using a 5 Volts & 500 mA Blackberry charger with a cheap micro USB cable and getting very slow charging. At first I thought this was the 500mA rating but then I got a brand new official Nokia micro USB cable and it seems to charge at a comparable rate to my official charger. I'm at a bit of a loss to explain it other than perhaps the quality of the cable has a lot more effect on charging than I thought (I don't think the data connectors have been shorted on the Nokia cable, I can transfer data fine using it)

How about this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tomtom-4A00-182-5A00-081-A05T2-05MU-USB-Wall-Charger-/310157216511
Seems to be the same output as the standard HTC mains charger..
Would this work ?
What about this one:
Input: AC 100-240V 50/60Hz 100mA
Output: 5V = 150mA
?
My HTC Desire came with UK plug and I cannot use it.
Tesco are doing a cigarette lighter splitter with a USB 5v 1A socket for £4-99.
It'll be getting a trial run down to Le Mans later.

I can confirm this =P. But you DON'T need to buy a new usb cord, just use the cord that comes with the desire and plug it into the Touch diamond Charger
I had the Touch diamond and Im using the touch diamond charger for this phone cuz it LOOKS way better (when i plug it in, HTC lights up ), and it charges almost twice as fast (Difference is very noticeable)
I was manically driving around to find a car charger, and EVENTUALLY found one at a Vodacom shop(in South Africa). It was made by Body Glove, and it's a 360 rotating device, with a USB port on it. The Micro USB cable that came with it is retractable, but I haven't used it. I used the cable that came with my phone. Will test it later. I drove about 200 plus miles with it, and my charge was good after the trip. My phone is still less than a week old, so the battery charge hasn't quite gotten to where it should be. Cost me about R99 (About $12)
By the way, the Micro USB connector will supposedly be the only connector on phones by 2012. It has apparently been standardized, so that people will just get a phone, but that all chargers will work on all phones. Too much waste from old chargers they say.

[Q] where to buy HTC Sensation genuine AC charger?

I think my AC charger is giving problems... Its charging fine but the pins of charger seems displaced internally coz i have to press it hard and rotate the pins to start charging... That's quite a pain charging every time and can't touch mobile during that time as it disconnects...
Can anyone give me a link to Original HTC charger for Sensation in 220v in U.S?
I Don't want to fall into fakes or Replicas that take twice the time to charge... So please a genuine charger link...
Expanys us, Tmobile, Amazon. But the charger is just a generic HTC wall plug and a USB cord . I bought the wall piece from Ebay and the USB piece too.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
you can use pretty much any wallplugs that support USB out. I've noticed that most of these chargers output at 5V and 1A so they shouldn't be a problem
I've bought a couple of cheap generic ones off Dealextreme for about $4 each so I could leave them at my girlfriend's and in my bag and they work well.
I got a genuine Samsung and it charges in just over 2 hrs from 0
becareful dazdeeuk, fast charge is usually bad for the health of the battery. Generally, I would recommend sticking with factory specs (usually 5v and 1A)
Most manufacturers have signed up to the universal charger agreement now so you can't go wrong with any decent brand micro-USB charger. I use a BlackBerry charger in my bedroom and car.
I tried one from Sony Ericsson... its 850mA and takes almost 4 hrs to charge my mobile.. and longer if I keep it busy...
Want a link to real genuine deal if anyone knows a link..

Decent Charger Recomendations (UK)

Hey,
My charger data cable is literally broken, so I need something to charge my Desire with. Thing is, the market is scattered with them, and I've heard different things about you have to buy the right thing etc (cheap chargers damage the phone, the cable cant carry enough power, and that) so I thought before I spend my money I'll ask if anyone can recomend something?
Ideally I'd like a single charger unit, so no detachable cable and a long thing charger cable.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
any original branded charger. my recom to you is any genuine blackberry charger. you can pick them up brand new cheap eg. under £5 off ebay. Nokia chargers with microusb ends are also good. i have both and work perfectly on my nexus one.
Honestly, It doesn't matter which charger you use, as long as it has a USB port to it, you'll be fine. Don't waste your money buying a genuine one which can cost up to 60$. Instead, just head out and purchase a simple one for 10$ max.
Yep as above any USB charger will do just make sure its rated at 5v - 1A this will lead to quickest charging times. I use a nokia one as I lost my original on holiday.
