anyone tried this update? with some results? is anyone using htc sence player for music anyway?
i downloaded that, copied to hd2 (with 1.66 rom), run it... and for 12 minutes looking at "Installing hotfix. Please wait" notice (hotfix is 415kb big... so it should not take so long)
i wish HTC put some progress bar at their hotfix installers
edit: found it needs HTC sense to be off... after shuting down Sense it installed in 5 seconds (have no problems with this when installing previous hotfixes)
link http://www.htc.com/europe/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=297&cat=0&dl_id=938
i installed too on the 1.66 stock rom, after 30 seconds it was finished.
and the annoying lags are gone

How do I turn off Sense? Similar to the Handwriting hotfix, it is running forever. I went to settings->today and Sense is not even selected! Is it because I am using Cookie Home Tab.

Go to Settings, Today, Items (at the bottom), then scroll down to HTC Sense and untick it. Then click ok and you are done. Re-start it the same was but by tick the HTC Sense box lol.
I don't have problem with installing, but I could not see any progress

Do I need to reboot? Or just uncheck and OK (and see that sense home tab disappeared)? The two hotfixes hangs just the same for me.
[solved] stability hotfix hangs
Found out the culprit. With Yomomedia, both fixes will hang. Without it, they install within seconds.
Hot Fix Doesnt Work
This Hot Fix provided by the HTC is not working as desired with the music player still throwing the same error message.
Wish some one could really come up with a solution to this problem

Are you going to fix the issues with TouchFLO? Such as, the black screen issue, TouchFLO not working after you expose keyboard and type a text message, and TouchFLO not automatically starting when the phone starts up? If not, it's not even worth including it in the ROM since there are so many problems with it. I have all that stuff installed in my Mogul right now and I'm about to take out TouchFLO because it just randomly stops working, it don't start up automatically, and it stops working after I send text messages every single time.

yeah i wish it worked but it doesn't really seem worth the hassle
it would be an awesome addition to any phone but the bugs need to be fixed first so it can work on most phones.
What no 5th tab??
NOOOO!!!!!!! Build it on a 318!!!!!
Looks nice, when can we test this?
The MR2 update is out on the PCD site. Looked in some of the forums and nobody has mentioned it. Anyone install yet? I'm still downloading. Hoping for an updated Sense at least. PCD site only mentions a general update for VZNavigator, Contact Cards and Time Stamp.
Edit: I've downloaded and run the update and now I'm stuck at the starting HTC screen (now green letters on white) with the version numbers in red in bottom left. I've re-booted and sticks at the same place.
I'm having the same problem. I've heard you can go back to the MR1 update. Also, sounds like people who unlocked their phones are the ones having the issue. Anybody else have any info?
TP2 Verizon MR2 update
Found this nice summary of changes over at WMExperts:
ROM: 4.01.605.15/Radio: 2.35.00WV
Operating system has been upgraded to Windows Mobile®
6.5 COM2.5.
The HTC Sense™ user interface has been improved.
Visual Voice Mail (version 1.1.12.11) now comes preloaded on the device.
GlobalAccess Connect support. For international Internet access, you can tether your smartphone to a notebook.
Enhanced VZ Navigator® performance.
Improved auto-configuration of Daylight Saving Time.
Improved word prediction and autocorrection.
Enhanced on-screen keyboard layouts.
New, compact QWERTY keyboard option.
When composing email or text messages, type the first few letters of the recipient’s name in the To field to see a list of possible matches.
Quick setup of common email account types and an option to set up an email account manually.
However there is a problem with the update. You will need to relock it apparently to load it. Here is what they found:

I'm going to now try a straight dump and rebuild to see if it is just something in their updater thats causing the issue.
Yep, It is the boot.rgu and the OEM_FLASHDRV_1.DLL that's causing the problem!"
It is Sense 2.5, as I mentioned back in March.
One thing I noticed, is that my customized taskbar doesn't work correctly on this ROM. Some icons remain stock while others change. Some DLL's have changed names I guess.
They also mentioned that the task manager is gone, does that mean that I cant choose what to close and when to close it now?

I got it last night but haven't had a chance to check it out.
You were right Brent!
I forgot about loosing the HTC taskbar. Looking forward to finally be able to add customs tabs now that I have HTC sense 2.5.
I'm having a problem getting my phone re-locked. I've gone back to the stock ROM, but when I try to run the RhodiumW_SPLRelocker_063.exe nothing happens. Any suggestions or can anyone point me to a thread that can help? Thanks!

Thanks I will check out that task manager.
One more thing, is their a cab to add appointments to home tab? I know there is cookie (which I did check out) but I really just want appointments without all the extra stuff. Thanks!

I really don't know. I am not upgrading until I find a solution to getting a programs tab that actually works.
I had mentioned in a comment over at WMExperts that the taskmanager is gone... I now realize that you have to go into the All Programs to launch it, which is a drag. I miss the one on the top-right built in to the title bar
I added taskmanager to the quick links so it'll do but I'd really prefer the old one. I also miss the appointments on the homescreen. Boot time is even longer, but flipping through emails, photos and appointments in much snappier. I really enjoy the HTC Peep Twitter tab. The settings tab makeover is well appreciated too.
Overall, I really like this update though
I noticed some slow down with peep so I took it off. It was cool to have it right there but I will stick with the awesome moTweets. Too bad you couldn't add that to a tab.
edit: I do like that it locks now when I hit standby button. No more calling people by accidently (or less frequently).
htc task manager can be added so that the top right arrow is there again. It is attached to the following thread a few times. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=125428
Hey guys Mr. X over at PPCGeeks went through and fixed the MR2 VZW Update...go to PPCGeeks website (or MightyROM website) to download it..
Did they put the good soft keyboard with the 'control' key back in this rom?
I installed MR2 yesterday and everything went fine. Until it came to running for a few hours. When the phone first boots up, everything's great, but after about an hour, it just slows to a crawl. None of the animations are smooth, just recently it took five minutes to flip from one text message to another. But, that hasn't really been so bad as about every other time I go to turn the screen back on, it just doesn't turn on and the only thing I can do is pull the battery.
Yeah, the quick links are nice, the new settings page is great and the email/text message pages flip in the same direction (seriously, who missed that in MR1?) but I went from having a nice, reliable, snappy phone, to a brick of **** that I can hardly stand to use.
I'm going back to MR1.
I was running a custom ROM on Verizon TP2. I first tried to installed the MR2 ROM and as others have said it hung on bootup. I held vol down while pressing reset and the bootloader screen will come up and if you are connected to the PC will go in to USB mode. I ran Task29 which uploaded fine but the TP2 still hung on bootup. I then went to the bootloader screen again and ran the re-lock utility over at PPCGeeks. Tried to book and still hung. Went in to bootloader again and this time reran the MR2 installed which worked and finally it boot all the way up. I still did a clear memory 1234 and everything again booted up with no problems.
I am concerned about the guy above who reported that it would slow to a crawl but many that's a result of not running Task29? Hard to imagine such a fundamental problem. I mean, I don't doubt that it happened but I can't imagine that it will happen on all installs. I just installed mine a few hours ago so I guess I'll know by tomorrow.
Good luck!!

This is/was a "clean" phone. never unlocked, no custom roms, just straight from Verizon to me to MR2 so running task29 doesn't seem necessary.
shrug. when I get some free time next year, I'll call vzw and ask them wtf happened.
Recently I've been noticing that the stock launcher always seems to restart when coming out of another app. For instance, I might go into Gmail for a few seconds, and when I press the home button, I get the white HTC screen then a loading screen for the launcher. So I have to wait like 15 seconds before actually seeing my home screen when I was just there seconds before!
Is anyone else having this issue?
I tried switching to Launcher Pro, but I got similar issues there, where all the icons would have to reload individually on the screen when pressing the home button. And it was a big laggy (more so than the stock launcher).
I had that same problem but that was because I accidently moved the sense launcher to my sd, after moving it back it stopped also look to see if any of the sense programs like people, browser etc we moved cause they can also cause Sense to restart if not stored on phone.

Nope, they're all on my phone. Just double checked.
Having same problem but it's intermittent. I also asked a couple of other people and they are having the same problem.
It's really annoying. I don't always have quick access to apps because of this. And running another launcher doesn't help. Hopefully this is fixed in the OTA update, whenever that'll be.

I have found that turning off the Fast Boot feature and restarting has pretty much eliminated this problem.
Thanks rorycs! That seems to have done the trick.
Any ideas why fast boot was causing the issue in the first place?

I have no idea... I can only guess that Fast Boot caches some data and that when the data is changed by a new app install/delete or some other saved data it has to rebuild the cached data each time before reloading .... Just a guess....

I've tried and, yes, it helps a little but it still happens!
So, I wonder when HTC's going to fix it? (I don't feel like doing a hard reset!)
I tried reformatting my memory card and also I no longer use the htc task manager to "kill all" seems to be working for me so far.

Hi since this evening I have the same problem. The first few weeks I did not have any problem with my sensation. This afternoon I applied a display protector and now he is starting up again and again.
Coincidence probably.
Where can I find the fast reboot mode> I can't find it on my (dutch, vodafone branded) phone.
Thanks
Usually the sense UI closes itself when the phone runs out of RAM, that's why it happens when you exit an app. Seems like also the fast boot option uses a bit more RAM so it makes the sense restart more often. Hope I helped.
Yeah mine has started restarting recently also.
I stopped fastboot but still does it. This is extremely annoying as it usually happens when I want to make a call or send a message and have to wait while it restarts.

I took off my screen protector hoping that that was the cause of all problems but it wasn't. Too bad, also formatted my sd card again. Hoping that that suggestion I found here on XDA works... so far so good...
Edit; so far still good it only rebooted once while it was in my pocket... working trick?

Pffft; I thought it was solved but today all misery started again, reboot after reboot, when i use my video cam it stops working and I have to wait till its working again. That costs me today a lot of footage from my kids at the carnival.
I hate it when things don't work.
So far i tried:
Taking of screen protector
disable fast boot
wipe and format my SD card.
Someone any suggestions? Will a factory reset work?
Thanks

Too bad! Brought my sensation to the shop and they did an system update with new software, phone was working for one day and now the **** started all over again, it just stops working randomly.
When i take a picture it stops, when its in my pocket it stops... I hate this!
I will bring it back to the shop again now for a hardware check, probably that will cost me two weeks.... I just have my phone one month......
I came to this thread lookling for a permanent fix to the loading screen but unfortunately i did not find that. I can offer a temporary fix, which certainly is not what we want but something is better than nothing.
Go to manage apps, all then to htc sense and delete data. That will correct the problem for a while. Unfortunately u will look te wallpaper and apps on the screen and u will have to put them back.
Guys, come on you have to search a little better for the answer.... but here you go anyway:
There are 2 options I have found that will work. I have been using the first option for months now with no issue or problem. Sense keeps restarting when it gets low on memory so the system swaps it out. You can choose your fix from the 2 options below. The first one apparently changes the way the system handles the Sense launcher and keeps it loaded much better - it is the option I use (I have found that when you exceed about 420MB used for your apps then the next option will work better). The second option simply stops the system from swapping the Sense launcher out of memory completely. Both of these require you to be rooted and to modify "build.prop" which is found in the /system folder.
If you are not comfortable with this edit make a Nandroid Backup first!!! (If you screw it up your phone may not boot)
1. Make a backup copy of "build.prop" (I simply copied it and renamed the original to "build.prop.old" and left it in the /system folder)
2. Edit "build.prop" with a text editor (you can use Astro or ES File Manager)
3. Scroll all the way to the END and add one of the following lines as the LAST LINE in "build.prop"
Choose ONE of the following lines and add it exactly as typed here:
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=0
ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=1
4. Save your edited "build.prop" and reboot.
That's it. Enjoy!
*NOTE: I am not responsible for any damage you may do to your phone by attempting this mod or for any errors that may occur as the result of editing system files.
PLEASE hit THANKS if I helped you!

try ARHD with No sense. Won't have such annoying problem happen again.
although the widget in Sense is nice, but with GO launcher and its widget in custom skin, feel satisfactory. at least it save ram and stop restarting which really annoy me.
I've got a stock evo shift with the most recent OTA update (Android 2.3.3 Sense 2.1 Software number 2.76.651) and my Sense has been restarting ALL THE TIME. I'll be using an app, hit the home button or the back button to get to my home screen, and it'll show a white screen with the green HTC then show my home screen with a loading message for 5-10 seconds. This only started happening after updating and it's starting to get pretty annoying. Anyone else have this problem/know of a solution for it? I've tried reboots and it usually seems to make it happen less for a little while but it always starts to happen again.
Since you said Stock. Does that mean unrooted? It is a known issue on Stock Gingerbread. The Memory settings are to agressive. You can try AutoKiller Memory Optimizer to change the settings. But it will only help so much.

I had the same problem - got to where almost every time I switched back to the home screen from doing anything, it would have to reload. I tried disabling fast boot and it didn't do anything for me. I did a factory reset, re-downloaded the apps I wanted to keep, and that seemed to fix the problem. Very rarely happens anymore, only seems to occur when I am in the browser for a long time or playing a game for a while. Hope this helps.
I'm rooted, on the stock rom, and sense would re-load. I use Launcher Pro now, and while I still get a few reloads, the launcher refreshes much quicker than sense, and it does have widgets similar to Sense. I had paid for LP Pro last year, with my Evo, so I figure I'd use my paid app.
*Double Post*
Hello,
I've tried searching but I cant seem to find anything about this, I recently upgraded my wife's Sensation 4G to ICS but now the phone suffers from the white HTC loading screen for about 5-10 seconds every time I exit any application. Is there a solution for this I'd like to keep this phone as stock as possible.
Thanks in advance.
Not enough ram. Too much is running so to save ram, the Sense launcher is killed. That kind of shouldn't be happening. Without being rooted, you can try remove some of her applications that are running in the background or factory reset the device and try again.
You can also tell her to hold Home and swipe unneeded applications to the left or right to dismiss them, hopefully this will close applications before the Sense launcher is killed.
I have the same phone and I had the same issue happen to me. What I ended up doing (and believe me it works) is I went to Settings>Apps>All>HTC Sense (the one with the green HTC Logo) and click on it and disable that one. Now go back to Settings>Apps>All>HTC Sense (the one with the picture of the home screen but in a tiny version and click on that and "Clear Data" and thats half the problem. For some reason it seems like HTC didnt integrate the "New" HTC Sense with the old one so they keep messing eachother up "allegedly." Well now for the last steps, So now you go back to Settings>Develop Options and scroll to the bottom and you need to uncheck the option that says "Don't Keep Activites" and make sure "Background Process Limit" is set to Standard Limit. Then restart the phone and your phone should be back to normal It took me all day yesterday to figure it out so hope everything works out for anyone having this same issue
