Latest version with SPB Mobile Shell 3.5 hangs - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

Hi
Since loading SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.3 on my LEO. The phone tends to freeze when ever I press the carousel view. Not sure why? need to power off/on, cause screen is black .. doesn?t unlock.
Rebuilt to factory seting many times but still freezes every time I hit the carousel view.
Anyone else have the same problem?
Regards

could be an issue with the carousel set to use 3d acceleration.
You can turn this off to test.... go to spb menu->settings->spb mobile shell->system
here you will see an option that says "use 3d accelerator"... change this to "no" and see if the carousel now works.
If it does then i would suggest installing chainfires 3d drivers to see if they solve the issue with 3d acceleration on. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592663

Audio Oblivion,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
It appears that turning of 3d accelerater fix it. I will soak test it for a couple of days and check out the link you splied.
I will keep you posted on the out come.
Many thanks

Here's the update.
unfortunately the "chainfires 3d drivers" didn't resolve the issue of locking up the device when the 3D Carousel mode is selected in SPB mobile shell.
For the time being I will run in 2D mode which works fine until I find the answer or SPB Mobile Shell 5 is released.
Many Thanks to the Forum and Big thanks to Audio Oblivion.

My ex-experience with SBP pocket plus is very bad, it slows down the device greatly and hangs a lot of times. So, for how long are u using it ?

U r rite! previously I had the same hanging problem but because of its cool interphase & so many useful features I had to think of something .. u won't believe that I flashed my device with 3 different ROMS for this & still had to perform soft-reset twice a day due to hanging problem but finally I came-up with this:
During installation setup from the computer it asks to select components to be installed on the device .. there just uncheck following 3 components;
- Button Mapper Enhancement
- Safe Mode
- Switch Programs (Alt-tab)
Wola.. !!!
Device Runs as fast as it is and no hanging problem !
Install the Registered Version .. if u need the crack just ask me
spb software now and will be buggy .... if you need problems or you want hardcore sex .... istall it .... i dont recomend spb at all ...
Hassan is right SPB really does make your life easier, but you do run into resets every day. I personally only install SPB pocket plus and SPB phone suite (an absolute necessity). The rest can be a waste for sure. I agree: avoid installing safe mode, alt tab and button mapper. I like the extra icon shortcuts they include, such as close. You can map it to your ok button so it closes apps every time as opposed to minimize. Wish someone made less problematic software that mirrors what SPB has.

SPB Shell V2.0 - lag problem solved ?

I've been hearing reports from people with the Kaiser, that using SPB Shell V2.0 totally solved all lag problems when switching between different menu windows, and the device runs extremely smooth and stable (to the point it's hard to believe it doesn't have hardware video acceleration).
Can the same be said about the Touch Cruise ?
Can you post link? I might be able to work something out.
I have SPB Shell V2.0 on my Touch Cruise, and it's working extremely smooth. The response of the touchscreen is very good and the menu's are extremely smooth.
Is it possible to dissable HTC Home?

Yes, it's the same as all other plugins - setting > today
Here is a link for the SPB Shell 2.0 download page:

Please post your impressions with the touch cruise.
I've been running Mobile Shell 2 for a few days now - very sleek, fast, and...well, it just looks cool.
Disabled the Touch Cube, but I'd also like to disable the HTC LargeTitleBar feature (not the start menu, but the large icons when you click on the volume and phone status icons on the top title bar) Anyone have a clue?
I found a registry setting for LargeTitleBar (HKLM/Services I think), even had an "enable" flag, but setting it to 0 had no effect. It also had a delay option, but I couldn't get it to delay opening either (tried 1, 8, 500 as values).
Anyway, Moble Shell 2 doesn't seem to conflict with any of the Touchflo features, even the cube.
I have only good experience with Mobile Shell. Very fast, smooth and sleek. It's a must for everyone with the Touch Cruise, no compatibility problems.
I tried the trial version of the last V2 version and I am impressed It's rocks! Eye candy, smooth, fast, practical, . It smells good and optimised code, really. You can throw away your cube..
I just have to find a way to make it launches my Agenda One calendar functions instead of defaults windows mobile one.

Agenda One provides .lnk files for each function in the application. The Sbp Menu gives the opportunity to add items, so maybe you can add each of those links.
I uninstalled M.S. yesterday. While Shell offered some nice functions, it just seemed an unnecessary addition over TouchFlo. I did like the dialer app however. I think that if Spb could enforce the Now screen over the standard Today screen, it would help .

Home Screen Plugin

Hi All,
I am looking for a Home Screen Plugin for my Flint.
I have seen many nice looking ROMs but I do not want to flash the ROM until the device is out of warranty!
I am just looking for a nice home/today screen!
I am also looking for a nice little app like the old battery status!
I had this on my old XDA Orbit, which displayed Battery charge and signal strength in %, and memory card info, as well as CPU temp and also had an overclock facility too! I had my standard Orbit (201Mhz) overclocked and running very nicely and stable at 299Mhz!
Also if there is anything else anyone recommends throwing into the mix then please do so!
Many thanks
Alex
check your email
i have shell 3.i will try an send it to you if it loads on email
I use iFonz2 which is an iphonelike shell and I love it. Luckily you can configure it to be quite unlike iphone in appearance, because I don't want to look like an iphone wannabe. I just want the wonderful functionality. I'ts free and you can find it here:

I can second SPB Mobile shell 3, I use it on my Flint and it looks great - and is very customisable. Check out the forum on SPB for some useful aditions such as widgets for VGA screens.

I did try try SPB Mobile Shell 3 - I wasn't that impressed! It didn't run very well!
It was slow and jerky, not smooth! - Is that how it is or do I need to tweak some setting somewhere to make it run better?
I installed it and it worked fine. No setting changes, no jerking, no delays. I did add the VGA widgets and a few other mods from the SPB forum, but it didn't alter the performance. Perhaps it's the ROM you're using, or other apps you have installed? Although I have do also Wisbar adv3 running and eveything is still OK. My partner has SPB MS3 on her XDA stella and it runs even smoother and quicker than it does on my Flint, but I wouldn't describe mine as slow or jerky. Hope this ramble helps
I've just re-installed it, but its still slow and jerky when rotating between screens!
Anyone have any ideas??

Screen rotation with Spb MS3 is a known issue. Are you using the latest version- Spb did some work to improve it, but its still slow.
How do you find the screen transitions if you stay in the same orientation? For me they were fast and smooth, though I've stopped using any shell programs now due to their memory usage.

I believe it was the latest version!
If I'm honest I really didn't like it!
I just migrated from a Tytn2 running Athine OS Manilla Edition (TF2D)
I was really impressed with it! It was quick, smooth and easy to use!
Thats what I am really looking for on my XDA Flint, but I don't want to move away from the standard ROM until the device is out of warranty!
I'd normally say go for broke with a new ROM as there are tools around to restore the SPL and OS to the release version, but as the O2 ROM is pretty similar to cooked ROMs in terms of performance I'd agree with you.
What to you actually want from a Home Screen?
I've now reverted to the standard WinMo home screen with whichever standard plug-ins I want, plus SBP Weather and Chronos alarm. On top of that I'm now using LaunchPad from Panoramic Software which can take over the Start button, or a softkey, and which opens up a full screen icon grid of 'links' to programs, settings or files.
I've reviewed it Here; not a Home screen, but does the job for me

Have you considered TF2D on your Flint, not 100% perfect has a few niggles but fairly responsive on my X7510. see here for more info:

Stopping Today Screen and Home Screen in Shell From Rotating

I hope have not overlooked an answer to this question, and I appologize if so. I spent some time searching and did not locate any threads.
My question is, I am running SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 and Gyrator2.
I have Gyrator working fine in all areas that I have desired except for 1.
I am trying to find out how to get my home screenI In Shell) to stop rotating. When I exit shell and use the today screen (touch flo) the same thing happens.
Also, how do you adjust the screen rotation sensitivity? If i even slightly tilt my phone-it will rotate to landscape. It does not happen every instance.. but often enough to cause much frustration.
I would so appreciate any insight into this, and would be glad to make a donation on the behalf of anyone who could help!!
Thank you....Eagleland
I have the same problem with spb 3.5.5 and mskip pro plus wp7 theme
I hope someone has the answer
Sorry for my bad english.I am from hellas
Hey!
You need to find a program "Advence Config" or something that...
There was this option - you can switch on or switch off
Or maybe it was in "TF3D conf"

SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.3 3D acceleration

Bit of an odd problem.
I have 3D acceleration enabled, and the carousel works absolutely spot on, even with the Gsensor! But there is a 3D accelerated message viewer that was active when I had MS3.5.1 installed (with the registry mods and chainfire HD2 graphics driver crack) that isnt active in MS3.5.3. It just has the non accelerated message viewer which looks a little naff. Has anyone else come across this problem? Tried emailing SPB about it, but theyre next to useless.
Thanks in advance

Have you tried uninstall SPB and re-install it again? This might help
Tried that, and even gone as far as a hard reset, and made no difference
Hi,
have you tried the Chainfire HD2 2d Driver Patch?
I installed it and it seems the grafic performances increased.
The drive i think can be found somewhere here in the forum.
Sorry about this imprecise information, but i actually don't know where i found the file
msdirektor
Is this what you need?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592663
Works like a charm
If I needed that, then why would the carousel be working perfectly?? I did use that when I used spb ms3.5.1 to get that to render smoothly, but its not needed with spb ms3.5.3.
Thanks for your input this far
Anything 3D, you need that driver, its the only thing that will enable you to get any 3D performance out of this phone
3D performance of my tg01 is fine without the driver patch at the moment. NFS runs fine, the 3D accelerated carousel of ms3.5.3 runs at a decent framerate. Its just the message viewer does not open the openGL accelerated viewer, just the standard non-accelerated viewer
Is there a registry entry that would allow you to enable it?
Been looking through all the registry entries and could not find a single entry that affects only the message viewer. I know its not critical, but its bugging me
hi all,
i have the same problem, carousel works great but message is laggy.
would the brute power of the phone be enough for a smooth carousel being that its a fullscreen thing where as the 3d message app isnt so it doeant get the same prority as the carousel.
make sense? if im wrong then fair dos
SPB have finally told me that they dont officially support 3D effects on the TG01 which is why the message viewer doesnt have 3D acceleration, but i find it odd how the carousel works perfectly, and supports the TG01 Gsensor???
could it just be a happy glitch with the support from m$ drivers and the combination of hardware/software?
is the 3d message viewer a seperate app ( i think it might be), then we could recompile it using the carousel as a base, personally scrolling through sms and emails in a carousel form would be cool, better than flipping it up.
it would maintain contuniuity with the phone as well
also, if the g-sensor works with the carousel then maybe we could adapt that so if you flick the handset left or right the screen would respond and change messages left and right
