When you're in an application which uses the keyboard (e.g. new sms), press the little up arrow at the bottom (next to the icon of the keyboard).
In the pop-up menu, you can choose which language you want.
Select "French" and you'll have an AZERTY layout
Note: xt9 will become french too...
Grtz,
Degake
edit: if you want to use the french azerty keyboard, but with dutch xt9, you'll have to change this registry value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Tegic\eT9\LdbFiles] >> set "010c" to "NLlsUN_xt9.ldb"
What's AZERTY? Is it a more efficient layout?

It's just a different lay-out (some keys are swapped), like in this example:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}

it's a keyboard where the letters are
placed differently, and the upperst row doesn't start with qwerty but with azerty, this is e.a. used in Belgium
Azerty
Thanks, i've changed mine to Azerty aswell

For those of you fed up with the crappy HTC keyboard on the HD2, try this custom layout for FingerKeyboard 2.1. It has much larger keys than the standard HTC SIP layout, and therefore much easier to type.
Backup the following files under \Program Files\FingerKeyboard\Skins\ before copying the layout files into that directory if you wish the keep the original FingerKeyboard size layout.
skin-02-wvga-port-00-types.txt
skin-02-wvga-port-01-digits.txt
skin-02-wvga-port-01-eng.txt
This layout is currently only for English, but you can easily modify the default FingerKeyboard layout files to work by updating the relevant skin-02-wvga-port-01-<language>.txt with the same numbers as in the skin-02-wvga-port-01-eng.txt file.
I didn't create this layout (found it over @ ppcgeeks originally), so don't complain to me if there are bugs Credits go to ReefHunter49

Those are Brian's Taskbar icons. There's several variations of them, so just do a google search in XDA for "Brian's Taskbar" and you should find a huge bunch of links. Don't have the original link lying around unfortunately.
Thanks. Installed and customised (love the customisable short-cuts) and working really well..... except.... XT9 only works in portrait and not landscape???
Thanks for sharing though - I'm very happy....

Problem pushing letter next to space in landscape
I realy enjoyed this keyboard, but I have a problem while using it in landscape mode. The 2 letters(in my language "b" and "n") which are next to space I am unable to push or it is very hard to find th small area where these letters possible to push. All the others working great. I tried to find a solution or to find someone who has the same experiance but nothing. I am the only one with this?
@vanzelvoul
this is the link to the Brian's BW original taskbar thread. Please be careful about the taskbar version you will install, it's OS version dependent:

Hi,
I discovered a nice application : Showaco reSTART. It allows you to rearrange the start menu, add custom icons to folders or applications...
However, I can't make it work on my HD2. Anyone else has the same problem ? A component is missing... maybe it's not compatible with HTC Sense...
More about Showaco reSTART
Thanks

Haven't tried installing it on the HD, but there's better programs avaliable to do exactly the same things. Try JSPAProgramManager, JWMD IconChanger.
restart works fine with my Hd2. possibly you don't have .net compact framework 3.5? if this is the case then take a look at the "hints tips things you may not know" thread in the leo area.
I've the 3.7 ..

Hmm. Only thing i can think of. You have edited the registry to use 3.7 instead of 2.5 yes?
What errors do you get?
Did you have a english or france rom? Because i had a dutch rom and it aint working on that rom because in english the startmenu was under windows\start menu and in the dutch rom under windows\startmenu (without the space). Just checked: Restart is starting on my hd2. I also have .net compact framework 3.5

You're the man, the start menu has to be created as 'Start Menu'.
Many thanks
personally i think JWMD IconChanger is much much better and more user friendly, you gotta try it to see for yourself!

Rofl indeed nice one
and OP, you mean cab
my bad
a bit rushy
btw is there a danish language pack to swype?
Thats rolf worthy.
I <3 swype supeb input.
But ive found that when im hot and a bit sticky () I cant slide my finger over the screen right, and its really annoying.
also, it doesn't input text at first for me. even though the cursor is there. I type and nothing.
But when i open the menu is SMS, and close it... It works fine. WTF
Swype is great...but some version have issues and well it wasn't really designed for the HD2 in mind.
I've used it for a while and still love it although it could be better.
You might want to give shapewriter a try as well...similar to swype but faster and the letters are bigger for times you don't want to "swype"...i'm still trying it out and will compare it with Swype to see which is better...

Swype doesn't support dutch but SlideIT does.
I'm using SlideIT with a dutch language pack too and it works very well
It supports many languages.
Take a look here: http://www.mobiletextinput.com/index.php

thanks for that mate. ive been after trying this for a while. now,I can honestly say I dont ever want to go back to the "old" way...its pure class.
In any application when I want to use my keyboard in landscape mode the "y" is missing. There are two "z"s instead as shown on the attached screenshot. When I turn to phone 90° into normal mode the "y" is there. My phone is in german. This problem happens on german aswell as on english keyboard. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Does it write two times the z? or does it write y, also?
yes. it indicates and writes two times z.

I played a little bit around with the settings. Language/location settings won't do anything. But when I change my keyboard layout from QWERTZ to QWERTY the problem is gone. But this setting doesn't make sense to me. Now I always have QWERTY no matter what language I select in the keyboard. The keyboard layout should be automatically adjusted when I change from DE to EN like it was in ICS.

I think there were two language options, one for the bilingual keyboard and the other sets the system language. Try both.

Hello ,everyone!
I am recently engaged with keyboard .I wonder what is most important about a keyboard to most users.
Would you please kindly share your precious opinion with us?Thank you very much!
Main thing it is usability, example real PC keyboard - good -phone screen keyboard - suxx.
Depends per example, I use fleksy cause I like the custom themes (that you can make) and because of ther size and it just types nice

I also sometimes switch to swiftkey. swiftkey also has themes but you can not edit them yourself but it does feature swype and quit good predictions
Prediction!
Thank you for your detailed reply!

No problem, I am here to help.
For me, ideal english keyboard has numbers above letters for quick access. That's probably all I'm missing in standart Android keyboard.
But if you are thinking in non English world also, there is space for improvement in autocorrect (for example default android keyboard tries to correct every word it doesn't know, which makes autocorrect totaly useless in my language). Also it's really annoying to write special characters (for example á,š,č...), because you have to press letter, wait for a second and than choose from a sub menu. That's actually quite a big delay because you normally have to write many of these characters.
I hope it helps you somehow and sorry for my English.
For me is Accuracy and Predictions.
