I noticed there were fading window transitions in the new ROM that make it similar to the iPhone transitions that fade between screens. Is there any way to revert back to the regular sliding transitions or is it built into the ROM as an official 2.1 change?
[EDIT] Flashing stock rosie restored the stock transitions.

i didnt dl to check but make sure you have window animations on in spareparts.
I do. before the 2.07 update the animations were the stock sliding ones. now they are the fading ones. the apk just turned on bouncy menus and kept the screen transitions. its not really annoying, I'm just wondering if it can be changed back.

i noticed that if you use regawmods themed, and flash the lwp patch, you get window transitions...tho no bouncy menus
could someone possibly make an update flash to activate bouncy menus and window trans?
that would be really kewl

you will lose a LOT of the theme in RegawMOD 2.1 if you push that apk.. just an fyi.
What is changed in the apk to allow the animations? xml or smali? specifically...

Reg, the animations he wants are in anim in the framework-res.apk
They are easily transferable from older ROMs....just copy and paste the xml's.

Just extract LiveWallpapers.apk from his ROM by unzipping it. Navigate to /system/app then open a command prompt:
adb remount
adb push LiveWallpapers.apk /system/app
Once you add it, select the live wallpaper then settings and you can chose "sexy nexy".

Does anyone know how I can get this turned into a live Wallpaper...
I was pointed to some information about programming - but it was beyond my skill level
Welp, dumb dumb here, I put the apk on my sd card, and just installed it from AndroZip instead. Once it was done installing, I click Done, and them *poof* phone restarts.
Back in phone, background is black.
Clicking Live Wallpapers from the menu causes a FC.
Just giving a heads up to others that try to cheat and be lazy.
And looking for some advice on how to fix this!
Thanks!

Restore to the Nandroid you *hopefully* made before installing it? You could also try the push adb method, which worked for me, and maybe it will overwrite what you installed.
This is a collection of all currently available Rosie themes (Stock, Espresso, Droid Launcher) in MetaMorph form.
Now, why should I use MetaMorph, some app I've never even heard of, instead of an update.zip, you might ask?
This will work for any ROM that is running Sense 2.1
You don't have to boot your phone into recovery or use ADB to apply it! You simply use an app on your phone and you can literally have a completely different theme in a matter of seconds!
It DOES NOT override any other themes that you're currently using! Whereas an update.zip will override any other theme (unless it's built into the .zip), MetaMorph only edits the files you tell it to edit, which means you can mix and match themes as your heart desires
To use:
Download MetaMorph from the market
Download the attached .zip(s) and place them in a folder called AndroidThemes on your sdcard
Launch MetaMorph, click Pick Theme, and select whichever .zip you want to apply. Follow the prompts from there and let MetaMorph do everything else
Espresso_Rosie just gives you the Espresso bottom bar with Stock icons.
Stock_Rosie reverts the bottom bar back to the Stock theme and stock icons.
DroidLauncher gives you the Droid Launcher theme. It does not change the icons at all.
Rosie_Icons just changes the icons. It does not change the bar at all.
Screenshots and .zips attached.
I would put up more screenshots but ddms isn't working. I'll see if I can find a link to a screenshot of the Droid Launcher
UPDATE: Fixed Stock_Rosie to include the navbar. Also the DroidLauncher theme now changes the icons back to stock.
**Rosie Icons ported over from here
Metamorph is a really good idea, I know its been out for a while, just never got much attn from hero users.
Theme devs (regaw and treve) should really hop on this man.
I look forward to the possible uses of this.
Works and looks great on Fresh 2.0d. Thanks OP!

I'm running DarchLegend 4.3.1 and this sent my Hero into a boot loop. I downloaded MetaMorph, applied the Espresso_Rosie.zip and everything went crazy. I rebooted into RA applied the Darkstar theme it booted up but then everything from all my Pure Widgets, Beautiful Widgets, and Google Voice started force closing. I had to wipe then re-flash the ROM, then use my Nandroid backup.

I've asked a few people and searched like crazy with no real answer so I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I'm running Calk's HD rom and it's awesome. I would just prefer a 4 row app drawer as opposed to the 5 it comes with. Is there an easy way to change this? I haven't been able to locate the setting in the rosie.apk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What if you use adw launcher? You can change it from 3 to 8.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/adw-launcher/org.adw.launcher
Oh wait I think he is using adw, well then go to settings, adw launcher settings, screen preferences, under desktop layout change the Desktop Columns from 5 to 4.
Thanks. I'm referring to sense though. I should have specified. I know how to do it with adw and launcherpro. I wish it were that easy in sense.

You need to decompile your Rosie.apk and change the "5" value in the all_apps_view.xml (its actually titled something like that) to a "4". Then you will need to recompile and flash.

Thanks so much. It looks like to do this the xml would need to be converted first or done with hex editing. Way beyond my skill. But I'm going to trying recompiling the apk using the all_apps_view.xml from a different rosie with a 4 app drawer. I'll post my results.
That didn't work. Not sure the setting lives there. The rom I grabbed the all_apps_view.xml file from has an opaque app drawer, calk's has transparent. After compiling the rosie with the new xml file and rebooting, I still had a 5 row app drawer but the background was opaque.

there are 3 changes to be made.... one is the one u were given already.
keep in mind that u MUST decompile cuz it changes things inside the resources.arsc file
the second one is inside values/integer.xml
change
Code:
<integer name="allprogram_grid_columns">5</integer>
to have the value 4 instead of 5.
and in values/dimens.xml change
Code:
<dimen name="all_program_grid_view_horizontal_spacing">1.0dip</dimen>
to have the value 6.0dip.
that should work.
good luck.
edit:
just saw u said u using the HD rom... i was referring to the a non HD rosie... so although it should still be the same thing, it might not be... so keep that in mind in case it wont work... but thats how u would do it for the regular Rosie.

Ok, that's a little over my head considering I don't even see the xml files you're referring to. I'm only able to play with what I can see by unpacking the apk using simple methods. Changing the all_apps_view file changed the drawer background, which is undesired. If I simply swap out the the full rosie.apk from the other rom, I can achieve the 4 row drawer with the opaque background but I'm looking to retain the translucent. So, perhaps it's easier to start with the other rosie with the opaque background and modify that to have a translucent background? Can using the original all_apps_view accomplish this or is there an easier way?

thank you very much.
Both of these come out of the Hero GSM forum, but they are proven to work for us too. These are the same theme, you just have a choice about which way you apply it: MetaMorph or flashable .zip
MetaMorph Method
Original Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864931
Just follow the directions in that thread, and you will be good to go. I have tested those, and they work just fine. The obvious advantage there is that you can choose what features you want. Note, this will not work for people running aospMOD because the theme needs the ability to change the font color. This is allowed in the CM roms and not in aospMOD.
Flashable .zip Method
Original thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=864451
After you apply the .zips you like from that, you might want to apply this MetaMorph: http://www.mediafire.com/file/d9j2fiddrg0gq9y/Gingerbread_CM61_Visual_Fix.zip (credit to BlaqkAudio for this). It gives you more accurate signal strength, although it isn't necessary for the theme to work.
Finally, you are going to want to apply the Status Bar tweak. To do that click menu > Settings > CyanogenMod Settings > User Interface > Tweaks Extras > Select a theme > gingerbread. Let it apply, reboot, and you are done!
Apparently, there is an issue after installing the .zip version of this theme, the Roaming Indicator On text on the lockscreen and notification pulldown. Try reading this post in the Cyanogen forums: http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/2225-roaming-indicator-on-htc-cdma-hero/page__view__findpost__p__23422 It worked well for me when I had that issue.
Have fun!
Yes, this is a double post, but I have a question about metamorphs in general that directly relates to this theme. I applied the animations morph w/o knowing what the animations looked like. Now that I know what they look like, I don't like them. I made a nandroid before morphing, but its giving me a md5 mismatch. How do I revert? Is there a stock morph? Thanks for the help I did ask this in the other thread also, just for the record.
EDIT: nevermind, i just reflash CM6.1, and they are all gone. its good now
Won't work for AOSP because you can't change the font color the same way you can with CM.

Good to know. Thanks for that.
Thanks for the heads up. Only theme I have ever used, looks really good overall.
Dang, would love this on aosp!
theme updated to 1.3.1. individual zips for each part, froyo animation revert packages, fix tab bugs, fix font location.
a question someone might know the answer to: is it possible that we could apply the .zip that is the base of this metamorph theme? id much rather have the full theme, considering its much easier to apply. but i dont know, its in the gsm hero forum, would that mess up stuff for us? i dont wanna try it, if you didnt get the hint. even with a nandroid.
We may need someone to create a signal fix for this, since CDMA signal strength is different from GSM signal strength.
EDIT: Also, does anyone have screenshots to show what notifications look like? For instance, when I applied the CM Black stock theme, the standard signal, battery, etc icons didn't look that great. I was wondering what stock SMS, email, etc notifications would look like.
I flashed the update zip mentioned in the post with no gsm-cdma horror story. I did have to manually change the clock color, and I don't think the zip changes widgets, but I still have the bar, pop ups, and a working phone.
**Edit, got the notification bar text and clock fixed, by selecting the correct xml in ui tweaks
I just applied this and it's super slick. Here's a "signal fix" I quickly whipped up: http://www.mediafire.com/file/d9j2fiddrg0gq9y/Gingerbread_CM61_Visual_Fix.zip

"KrispysGingerbread_1.3_Animation.zip" contains the gingerbread-style animations metamorph and you should put that in the "AndroidThemes" directory on your sdcard as well. This package also contains a metamorph with the original Froyo-style animations in case you want to go back.

thanks for providing that, it looks AMAZING.
I used to use it the other month, but stopped because it seemed like a update to Titanium broke it a bit (in the program, some letters would appear as boxes), so I changed back to default, and forgot all about it until flashing this theme, and deciding to give it another shot. So far, definitely hasn't broken anything for me. It's almost like the font that comes with this theme, but bolder I suppose? Definitely more spacing in between the letters and isn't as hard to read, that's for sure.

Is there any way to get a mod or a theme that would give AOSP Roms the page transition animation from TouchWiz? I love the way those transitions look. Out of all the things you cant bring to AOSP this seems like it would be fairly easy.

Yes you could but you would have to make some edits to the framework.jar or framework-res.apk file, first you would have to find the xml file where the transitions are located and then you would have to edit them to be as close to the TouchWiz transitions as possible it might also involve some smali editing. After you make the changes push the appropriate files you modified (I.E framework.jar or framework-res.apk), make sure they have the correct permissions, then test to see if the transitions work.
I don't think I'm capable of doing that. Lol.

I guess an easier way would be to find a home launcher that has a transition animation that comes close to the Touchwiz style transition animations.
