If I have a GSM (like AT&T) carrier and find a cheap CDMA (Like Verizon)phone like the XV6900 (not for real just saying) and it's unlocked. If I buy it will I be able to make calls and what not on the phone since it's unlocked? Their is a phone I'd like to purchase but not sure because is CDMA and unlocked. Thanks!
cdma only works on cdma networks
so if you pay for a contract on a cdma network you can use it
So their is no slot for a SIM card in it? I found a cheap Imagio in great condition but if i cant use it it's not worth it.
Well... is it possible or not?

There is a sim slot on some CDMA world phones, but not on the Imagio and it will not work on a GSM network.
I just bought Verizon Samsung SCH-I705. I just wonder that can it could be unlocked to use Tmobile SIM. I know that this one has LTE SIM but just wonder?
I'd like to know the same

This has been asked before and the answer is still the same
Verizon - CDMA Carrier
TMO - GSM carrier
Two different radio's. You can use an unlocked TMO tab and use it on AT&T (Another GSM carrier).. The Verizon tab shouldn't have a SIM card in it. Unless it is a World tab or LTE. In the LTE case, only the 4G is sim controlled, the 3G is controlled by the CDMA radio.
Verizon:
Frequencies and Data Type Digital: (CDMA/PCS)/1x, EVDO Rev A, LTE (Band 13 only)
Tmobile
Frequencies and Data Type GSM: 850/900/1800/1900
So your answer is no.....

I believe you answer is just partially correct. My Verizon Tab has a SIM slot. I currently own a Verizon Iphone 4S, Iphone 5 and Samsung S3. Used to own BB Tour, Storm, Bold, HTC Incredible 2, HTC rezound. After unlock, all of them (they have both CDMA and GSM) can be used with any SIM card. That why Verizon called them Global Phones. I also believe that the Samsung S3 is LTE phone with SIM card slot and I have no problem to use it with my TMO SIM card

My US Cellular S3 had a SIM card too, but USCC is a CDMA phone. The SIM card was for 4G LTE only as USCC is a CDMA carrier. Some of the BB was "World Phones" meaning that they had 2 radio's in them, 1 CDMA when you was in the USA, the other was GSM when you traveled outside the USA but could not be used inside the US unless it was (the GSM part) unlocked. I know there are some other Android "World Phones" I had the Motorola Electrify, I think it's counter part on Sprint had a different name. There was a few more on USCC that was World Phones, They had dual radio's. But the S3 and Note 2 didn't. But I would guess that it could be possible that Verizon's variation could be different. I never looked that close. But if there is a way to unlock it and use it on a GSM network, then do a search, the phone is old enough to have already been unlocked, and a search would turn it up if it was. If your search comes up negative, then you will have your answer.

Thx for your reply. My Verizon Samsung S3 was unlocked by Verizon (by agreement from verizon with FCC) as they did with Iphone 5 (can be considered as factory unlock). Both of them can be used with GSM carrier here but not the Iphone 4S (for abroad use only even it is unlocked by Verizon).
I searched and have not seen any solution for unlock the Samsung Tab I705 in US but there are unlock code for sale for I705 in Europe and in Asia. I checked the I705 specifications but only see LTE 700Mhz, Class 13 (as you stated) in your previous post. Same thing with Verizon Samsung S3 I535 but I can use S3 with TMO sim. That is the reason I want to find out anyway we can unlock I705 (Tab 2) to use with SIM card for GSM carrier. Anybody can help?
DAMN!
I was looking for the same thing!

yes it can be done
I know that the verizon galaxy tab 2 can be unlocked. A friend of mine had verizon do it by claiming they where traveling outside the country, and it works on T-Mobile just fine. because it does have both radios. PLUS i want it for the LTE anyways and it does work for the t-mobile LTE. problem for me is that i no longer have an account with verizon so they will not give me the unlock code for the tablet so i need another way to unlock it.... can i do this by rooting it and putting a customer ROM or does that no effect that portion of the tablet.

I have Samsung Tab E Verizon SM-T567V it's Global and 4G supported with a dedicated sim slot. How to sim unlock it???
I currently am using my nexus 5 (unlocked from Play Store) on sprint and I will be going out of the country for a couple weeks and want to use a local SIM card when I get there. I have a couple questions.
1) what do I need to do to switch from Sprint CDMA and LTE SIM to a foreign GSM SIM?
2) once I get back in the country what do I need to do to switch from the from the foreign GSM SIM back to my Sprint CDMA and LTE SIM
Just simply swap the sims.
That's it? No changing anything in the settings or calls to sprint? Seems too good to be true. Glad I chose a Nexus!

Sprint dose have a SIM card for LTE on the NEXUS 5.
I just bought a Verizon GS3 on craigslist, but it didn't come with a sim card and in my ignorance I didn't know it needed one. I don't have a verizon account and I want to use this phone on pageplus. So is a sim card necessary, or can I get a sim card somewhere without having a verizon account?
It's an LTE sim card. Not a true sim card. It's still a CDMA phone.

Sorry for my ignorance, but I have no idea what this means. Can I use this phone without a sim card in it on pageplus?

I'm not sure if pageplus uses sim card or CDMA phones. For example, at&t is all GSM (sim card), their phones won't work on Verizon (CDMA) and vice versa.

Pageplus is CDMA, it uses Verizon's network. Without a sim card in the phone it doesn't seem to be able to find a network...but what do I know

You can have this phone on gsm. If you put a normal sim into the lte sim slot you can use other networks. The downside is you will not get 4g or in some cases you wont even get 3g.

So you can 'technically' have it on gsm.

Hello, It is my understanding that Verizon phones are unlocked. have an HTC One phone that I would like to switch from Verizon to ATT. When I put a new sim card in the phone, it seems the ATT network is being blocked. Any thoughts?

Vezion is a CDMA provider which does not use sim cards (only mini sims i think for specific devices) while att is GSM which uses both mini sims and regular sims.

Thank you for your response. The HTC One has a mini sim card. I have an AT&T mini sim card to put in the phone, but when I do so it doesn't recognize the AT&T network and the CDMA/GSM setting is blocked. There is a way to switch networks. Could someone please help me out in identifying how? Thank you for your help in advance!

Verizon LTE phones are all sold unlocked and use sims. Also every model that I can think of sold in the last couple of years has GSM bands to be sold as "world phones". I appreciate the attempt to be helpful, but spreading misinformation is the opposite of that. After some more trial and error, it was an ATT provisioning issue
