I am running MatrixRom 0.6, and I absolutely love the home and keyboard. My question is, can i use adb to pull or copy the files to my computer, flash a new rom, and install those .apk's onto the new rom?

The long answer is..?
haha whoops. my bad,
the keyboard is in /system/app and it's HTC_IME.apk
the home is on all roms, It's just a matter of choosing it instead of sense while its running.
I know that all roms have home, but this home can go landscape..and I've been using that frequently.
And how would i pull them?

well its about half the size of the original rosie.apk (sense ui). and its goal is decrease its footprint in the memory.. essentially making it run faster and smoother
Thanks, will give it a try.
Thanks! Will try this one too.

you mean on startup it did not give you the choice between sense ui and home?
Exactly, I only get a choice between the stock home screen, LockBot (bought application) and the Android lock screen. No Rosie. Trying to revert to the old Rosie.apk and see if it works.

ya, no..... your problem is that my rosie didnt get pushed properly. try it again... cuz i know it works. im running it now
did you push the zip or the apk file inside?
shael, so you removed most of the wallpapers as well. Maybe you should mention it also in the change log. Thanks.
Works now. I removed Rosie.odex, thinking it wouldn't work with a changed Rosie.apk, but apparently it's still needed.

yup ill add that and the wallpapers to the changelog... sorry asero i forogt that
update.zip fails to find update script
Edit: is it possible to change the number of home screens, wouldn't less also increase the performance/memory footprint?
why don't you and cursor try to integrate this new optimized rosie directly into the cursorsense rom? It would be a lot easier this way... thanks for the wonderful job ur doing.
Hmm...if I go to the menu->Wallpaper->Home->Wallpaper Gallery there is one wallpaper, but I'm still able to scroll like there is more wallpapers...but when I do Sense FC's...:/
Hi,
what should appear after a reboot?
i can choose between htc sense and default home, but i can change the wallpaper image...
i don't think its working well.
Please advice

Same issue, i then pushed it via adb.
I played around and made a nexus with black background and water with new wallpaper.
Install as normal apk, or use push by adb.
Root required, Use an filemanager (or adb) to rename the old Livewallpaper.apk to Livewallpaper.apka or so.
Code:
adb shell mount /system
adb push Livewallpaper.apk /system/app

Update.zip:
http://www.4shared.com/file/218491411/427e2866/LiveWallPapers.html
tha Doc does it again !
Pretty cool, Doc. Didn't like being installed as a normal .apk for me. It took with a push to /system/app. Both times, though, my phone rebooted itself. It could be because I'm running out of space....probably time to thin down or apps2sd the thing. At any rate, I like them much better than stock.
Thanks DR!
instant reboot when installed via intaller
edit only works when you push via adb
nice job
I can't get to install.
Using terminal on mac, i adb pushed and got this error:
" Kinjutsu$ ./adb push LiveWallpapers.apk /system/app
failed to copy 'LiveWallpapers.apk' to '/system/app/LiveWallpapers.apk': Read-only file system"
And using astro file manager, when i try to install as apk, the only options it gives are uninstall and launch. It gives an error when trying either.
amazing job doc! the second water one is phenomenal!
How did you guys adb push it line for line? I keep getting push errors and I'm not sure why.
Would we be able to rename this something else & push it to /system/app? I would kinda like to keep the original one cuz I like the gray nexus background
Hey Doc, are those live wall papers working on GDE? It looks to me like you have GDE there with the nexus theme...... i hope so...
i adb pushed it while in recovery i put the file in my tools folder opened the command prompt pushed rebooted and nothing changed im on cyanogenmod 5.0 beta4 er27 any suggestions why the edit didnt take place?
I installed like a normal apk, using eno's 1.5.1 rom and works great with no reboots. This is some sick stuff man can wait to see more.
wheres the old live wallpaper incase we want to go back?

back up the .apk off your phone prior to installing, or just grab that .apk from pretty much any ROM.

No, i use a modded droid (brr) launcher2.apk.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5576126&postcount=215
Its not perfect tho..
Installed like a normal apk without a reboot and it worked just fine. Thanks
Edit: my phone did one of its random reboots a little while after installing this and when it rebooted the original apk was reapplied. Weird.
There is actually a live wallpaper in the market called Live Waterpaper that basically does the ripple effect but on any picture you choose. It can also create waves when you tilt the phone!
I don't mean to undermine your work though, which is awesome and that black nexus one is fantastic. I always liked the Nexus live wallpaper but the grey was a little bland.
Incidentally, I tried to download on the phone and move it with root explorer and it moved ok but then none of the wallpapers from it showed up, even on reboot. I did it with adb push and that was fine.
I tried installing it through app installer.. Unsuccessful !!
tying to use "adb" comand not working.. i get "list of devices attached"
its awesome dude!
Its not installing... cant u just make a new name for it and install as a new live wallpaper?
After seeing the sweet sweet multi-touch I went looking and found the droid x dump over on android central. Only issue is droid x dump is 2.1 and i just updated to 2.2 frf83. Can anyone repack or resign or do whatever magic needs to be done to get this out to work with froyo?
Its the LatinIME.apk in the app folder.

[UPDATE 7-10]-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately Daneshm90 isnt able to work on the Froyo port of this keyboard. If anyone is interested in helping bring this to Froyo, it would be much appreciated, and im sure you'd prob grab a few bucks in donations too.
To make the thread easier to navigate I will be posting all new info on the keyboard here as it is posted throughout the thread. AND REMEMBER ALL GLORY GOES TO DANESHM90, THE ACTUAL DEV DOING THE WORK. THANKS DANESHM90!
DESCRIPTION:
The Droid X Keyboard features full multi-touch. This is different from the multi-touch currently enabled on 3rd party keyboards-the Droid X has the capability to hold down shift and press a letter to make a capital, ie it can do more than one key stoke at once like a physical keyboard. Pretty nice.
LINKS:
2.1 Eclair-based Roms:
only thing not working is auto-captilization,auto-correct errors. Dictionary works, NOW WITH VIBRATE!! Doesnt seem to work on HTC Hero GSM or CDMA...

2.2 Froyo-based Roms:
All thats not working on eclair + can't type anywhere it tries to suggest words, like the messaging body. Also voice doesnt work.
http://www.mediafire.com/?rmqzyo0ifzk
FUTURE FIXES:
• Froyo or Bust
INSTALLATION:
To install this app, you will need a file manager of your choice. Find the apk on your sd card with your file manager and install it. From there go to your system settings-->language and keyboard--> and make sure Multi-Touch Keyboard is checked. Go back to your home screen and find a text field. Long Press and hold until the pop-up menu appears, and select "input method". Choose Multi-touch keyboard. Thats it! To disable simply long press again, select input method and choose a different keyboard. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle
Screenshot of Droid X Keyboard by Andonnguyen. &Amp has been fixed in the apk, but not in this image.
================****UPDATE 8/13/10****
Ok all you multi-touch fanatics...invisiblek over on the incredible forum has ported this to work on a variety of roms, including CM6. Find instructions and DL the files here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753156
If you dont know ADB well, as I dont, you will be able to install this through Root Explorer, the excellent root only file manager. Basically to do this just DL the files, copy them to the appropriate places (LatinIME.apk goes in system/app, libjni_latinime.so goes in system/lib). Be careful as the .so file sometimes DL's as a .txt file, and needs to have both the extension and file name renamed to be correct before installing. It is also a great idea to rename your original LatinIME.apk to something like LatinIME.apk.bak, as well as the lib file, in case anything F's up. As a matter of fact it may even be a good idea to do a Nandroid BU, because you never know what might happen, and its prob been a while hasnt it...
Ok, so you copied them in the right places, now press and try to install your new LatinIME.apk. The first few times I tried to install this, it didnt work. However after remounting my /system as Read Only inside Root Explorer the install worked.
Thanks Invisiblek! Send this guy some donations if you can, we've been waiting for a long time on this one.
Mm, does the keyboard work on a Nexus One that's still running on 2.1, I wonder? Going to give it a try.
Here try this. Its working for me on cyan 5.0.8 on a 32a magic. I just removed the shared uid and resigned with testkeys.

Brilliant, you're a gem. Thank you. Works perfectly.
doesn't work with MCR r18 (FRF72). It installs but force closes once you try to select it.
Will try when MCR r19 (FRF83) hits but I doubt that will work either.
K can u gimme the log ? thnx
Also from ur current build can u gimme ur libjni_latinime.so which can be found under /system/lib/
not the most advanced user here... tell me what to do and I'll do it.
Ok you have adb working right ?
K go start -> cmd -> adb logcat
now leave that window open and try to open swype on ur phone. Then right click the log window click select all, then press enter. Paste in this thread wht u have.
As for the lib its just adb pull /system/lib/libjni_latinime.so <wherever on ur pc>
Cant do that right now... at work. I can when I get home in a few hours.
K cool Np ill try n get vibrate working
Thanks u for great port It work well on Cyanogenmod 5.0.8

thanks
Yeah doesn't work on stock frf83-just fc. Any way of fixing?
It seems to be the lib file. K here try this its w/o it forcing it to pull one from ur /system/lib folder

I dunno if this makes a difference or not, but i completely removed the stock keyboard before installing this, i never use the stock keyboard.
These r the steps to do so
adb remount
adb shell rm /system/app/LatinIME.apk
adb shell rm /data/dalvik-cache/*Latin*
adb shell rm /cache/dalvik-cache/*Latin*
adb uninstall com.android.inputmethod.latin

Still getting force closes on it. Can't get log since I'm at work.
Note: running froyo, using rodigezstyle's ROM
I don't know about you but I'm not a huge fan of the touchwiz lock screen and apparently neither are other touchwiz variant owners. So I decided to compile a jar for the stock vanilla launcher as a replacement. I haven't tested it yet, but if anybody can successfully get it to push to /system/framework and report back to me that would be great.
There are two files attached one is the modified jar to push and the other is any update.zip to flash back the original if the modded doesn't work.
You must also be using a deodexed and zip aligned ROM.
I will test this when I make it home thanks!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
is it working working?
What is the likelyhood this could make a mess of the phone?
I can push it right now but I'm not sure I feel comfortable doing it not knowing what may happen.
I can't seem to get it to push. Do i need to change the file name at all? It says read-only file system and won't allow a push.

Couldn't make it more than 22min without having to try huh?
i extracted the jar from android policy.zip pushed it to /system/framework and my phone would not boot into the os, i had to restore my phone from a nandroid back i had, and yes i did have a deodexed and zipaligned rom on my phone.
Is there any way to just replace the stock Rosie UI Bar(the one with the all apps arrow, phone, and add to home screen buttons) with the Fresh Espresso Bar? I have searched up and down and cannot find anything about how to just get that bar installed on my phone. I just need to know what the files are called and where they are located that control the look of that bottom bar...
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
the files are in com.htc.resources.apk under/res/drawable-hdpi-port or something like that. Can't remember off the top of my head. It's been too long since I've worked with sense.

So I have to edit the ROM I'm flashing then? That was the only place I could find the com.htc.resources.apk file was in a ROM. I was wondering if I could mod my little theme I've been making... I am wondering if I can pull the file through adb and then push the file back onto the phone after I change it...
Yeah pull the files you want to theme from whatever stock ROM you are running. You can pull the file and then theme it and push it back. I wouldn't push it back with the phone running. Do it through recovery if it's a system file.
