I'm wondering if anyone has the apk for quickoffice? It's not in dc2.0 r2 and I haven't found a good program to replace it. Sometimes I need to download and open doc/ppts on my hero so I need this.
Thanks
here you go
Thank you!!
Cannot install on DC 2.06
So I downloaded this file and tried to open it, but it says 'Open file error', 'No application can be found to open this file'.
Other apk's install fine, though...
What does QuickOffice give you that Documents To Go doesn't?

you can't open the apk on the device. you have to push it to your system/app folder. Use fresh's kitchen if you're not comfortable with adb.
Dang It...

I myself am also having trouble getting it to run. Htc Inspire 4g running miui.
I've tried pushing it to the system/app folder and have not had any luck. Force closes everytime. Any ideas?
Here ya go kids.
Here's a working apk of quickoffice. Fully functional on cm/miui roms both on htc aria (cm7) and Htc inspire (miui).

Or am I just out of luck? I'm at work and don't have administrator rights, so I can't install ADB drivers either. Is there another program I can use?
(depending on the app) just use a file manager to install.

I'm needing to install a couple of HTC apps that aren't included with the RegawMOD app (quickoffice, pdfreader, and the navigator interface). Is that possible using a file manager?

should work, i think you can install new .apk's through file manager, not overwrite. or thats my experience.

(depending on app) file explorers use package installer to install the apps, overwriting is more than possible.

Yup
you can, and if it says "Install failed" or something close to that, you can always use the "move" or "cut" function in the explorer to just paste it into the directory you want it in. then reboot.

No reboot required if you're using root explorer. Matter of fact, I always export my ringtones directly from SD card to sys/media/audio/ringtone w/ every flash of a new rom, and they'll stay in the system for the duration of future flashes (until complete wipe anyways..)
Thanks guys. I was able to use ASTRO File Manager and it worked like a charm.
Now I just gotta find a few more apk's that I need.

When you plug the usb in does it show that it detected a device but can install the drivers? If so and you have the sdk tool kit on your pc you can push via the adb command to the phone. I had the same issue at work could see or load any drivers for my phone but was able to push everything to my phone.
Is it possible to install the stock Android 2.2 browser in a sense rom?
I have already deleted the sense browser from the system/apps folder and put the new browser in the system/apps folder, and rebooted, but no dice.
I heard this browser is Pretty fast comparable to safari. Bump on this.
Try installing it with a filemanager ie rootexplorer or oifilemanager. Just tap on it, since you already placed the browser apk in the directory. The manager will prompt you.

Simply download a froyo asop rom. Any will work except cyanogenmod. Extact the zip, go into system app, and look for browser. Drag and drop onto root of your sd, get some sort of file manager app from the market, and install it. I think this will work, but i have never tried it.
Until you drag the file onto your sd, this is all on the computer.
Can I get the link to download the file
can someone post up the link to download the stock browser please

I will once I get home and test it out to see if it works. Check back in 30 minutes.
..........thanks
im pretty sure it wont work. i put the browser.apk on the sd card and when i went to astro to install it, it asked me to uninstall the current browser. so i think the only way it might work is if you rooted the phone and then pulled the sense browser and pushed the aosp browser
o i see thank anyway
pushing the browser.apk doesnt work either
how about you just rename the browser.apk thats already in the system\app folder and any odex file in the \system\app folder then install it with the installer app from the market or install command via adb......
hhmmm ????
Having issues with MIUI's market app not allowing me to download and install any app above 20mb and someone suggested to get GTG's 2.2.3 Infused Rom.
Would anyone with that ROM or any rom that can spot me the new and properly working version of the Market?
Thanks in advance.
Anybody? Pretty please?

why dont you just download the gtg's Rom and pull out the market.apk and the other file you need.
it should only take like 5 mins to extract and load up on your phone.

Just download either of the Infused ROM's 1.6.0 or 2.3.3then open it up with any zip program (7zip, winzip, etc). Look for \system\app\vending.apk then copy the file to your desktop. Plug in your phone and copy it to a location on your SD Card. Open Root Explorer or some similar root enabled file explorer and navigate to where you copied vending.apk, then copy it and place it in \system\app. Reboot after and you should be good to go.

I'm a HTC Desire S owner. I've problem installing APK files. It shows "There is a problem parsing the package" when trying to install apk files in ES File Explorer. It only happens when the apk files are in SDcard. It don't happen when install apk files which are located in my PC thru WiFi with ES File Explorer. It don't work with ASTRO file manager either. But I can install with AndExplorer and can install from PC (with DroidExplorer). I mostly use ES file manager and wanna install with it. I'm currently using latest version of ES file explorer. I've already checked "Allow installation of non-market apps" in setting. It did not happen with Stock ROM. Happened while using Saga3D, I don't know what I accidently did. I change to new rom 'Virtuous Quattro (ICS) and it still occur. Now I'm on Hyperion and it is still happening. Please help me.

I cannot tell you the reason for this issue, but it's well known. just download the apk on your Pc and put on Sd card then.
And Sometimes you are downloading an corrupted apk, simply download the app somewhere else.
Sent by my fingers to your head.
They say this error is likely attributed to:
1) Some strange apk not fit for the device. so, try downloading compatible apk.
2) Problems with Dalvik cache. try wiping cache & dalvik cache.
The reason for this is that the app is not downloaded completely. The download may have been interrupted on your phone due to some reason. On PC, the apps are downloaded uninterrupted, so no parsing error.

Thanks. Good to know

This occurs in case of corrupted downloads, where the file is shown as completely downloaded but actually some bits are lost while downloading. Very common when the downloading is done on the phone itself. Try downloading via PC and then transfer the apk to the sd card and you should be fine. I came across this when downloading an apk from the xda site itself (in the app development forum i think) and everytime i tried downloading on the phone, i got a parsing error... but as soon as i downloaded on PC and transferred it to phone, it installed right away!
I'm sure APK file is not corrupt. I can install with AndExplorer but not with ES File Explorer. I reinstalled ES File Explorer, but still not working.

Well then i guess you can say goodbye to ES File Explorer and stick to AndExplorer if this solves your problem!
Whatever works for you man! At least you found a workaround...I used to go crazy when i got these parsing errors!!!
Or try a different memory card. I have a Kingston micro-SD which gave me sleepless night awhile.
apk Problem
Have tried to check your Android Minimum SDK Version you have at your Program ??
Check this file and check your device
<uses-sdk
android:minSdkVersion="19"
android:targetSdkVersion="20" />
I have faced this problem with old versions , and resolved it by changing the appropriate minSdkVersion

APK installation Astro File Manager issue
For me, the APK installer in Astro File Manager doesn't work atm.
I see a brief scanning popup window but then it disappears.
Until they fix it, it's best to avoid launching APKs from Astro File manager.
If you think your APKs installs are using Astro File manager as the default app, you need to clear it.
On a Samsung Galaxy S7, I had to
1. Settings > Applications > Application manager
2. More (Reset app preferences)
3. If you have Samsung Kids Mode installed, you need to run and reconfigure it (if you don't you'll get annoying popups because Kids Mode app is now unstable until you reconfigure it)
4. Return to ES File Explorer and launch the APK (if there are still issues, continue to step 5)
5. Go back to Application Manager (i.e. repeat step 1)
6. More (drop down menu on top right) > Show system apps
7. Scroll down and locate Package Installer
8. Set as default
9. Try again

I had the same problem it was related to Package installer permissions. Gave the storage permission to package installer it worked. Mine was LG G3 with CM13 by the way.
